Hexagon/Angel
Eh, Who and what I am is probably going to be self explanatory later, but the gist of it is that my name is Angel, I'm a lifeguard on the beach at Blue Bay Harbour.
A few months from now
I am eternally grateful to Violet for letting me in to see Cam, it must be lonely in an ironic way, babysitting a trio of Rangers his own age when they're off duty must do that to you... I feel his pain to be honest.
"Don't sweat it, Angel." Violet said, her words were accompanied by her opening the clean glass door to the command center, followed by an "after you" type gesture, which I graciously accepted. "Cam's parents are discussing some thing, I don't remember what it is, but it is why Commander Oliver is absent at the moment."
And boy what a command center it was, at least one cluster of monitors on the opposite side of the entrance, no doors and windows anywhere to be seen in the room especially considering it was the very center of the facility itself, it looked like an oversized electrical room.
He noticed me from his control monitor. "Angel?" He anxiously and quietly gasped when he saw me before standing to his feet and slowly approaching me.
"I thought I'd visit." I said, watching him stand to his feet and approach me, in spite of the possible repercussions, he must've been happier to see me than I was to see him (and although it wasn't a recreational visit, I was pretty happy to see him) because that look on his face turned my heart into a puddle.
he wrapped his arms around me an a warm embrace, you know, for a man that doesn't spend his life at the gym, he feels pretty strong. "You came just in time." Cam said, his voice Low and seductive, my hands rested on his chest, The beat of his heart danced against my fingers.
"No PDA in the command center." Violet Shouted, sounding like she walked in on us doing not safe for work stuff... something tells me she got the feeling we were about to.
Then a frustrated grown, I guess Sterling's here. "Is Commander and Mrs. Oliver getting inappropriate again." He asked, we turned our heads towards the entrance and saw him with a disgusted look on his face.
"Not this time." Violet answered.
Something wasn't right, I had this pit where my stomach used to be the moment I realized someone was missing. "Something wrong, Angel?" Cam asked.
"Where's Mannie?" I asked, he would've asked me how Jane is by now if he was here.
"He left to use the bathroom a half-hour ago." Sterling said confused. "Either he's not feeling well or he was ly..."
"H-help, we need help!" Mannie's voice rang shaky and broken with panic through the speakers. "She's not b-b-breathing, th-there's no pulse, someone help me, please."
I guess what Cam and I were going to discuss will just have to wait.
Cam and I rushed to his control monitor, A few buttons on the connecting keyboard pushed and the sight of a morphed, but helmetless Mannie freaking out over an unconscious Jane filled the screen, judging by his words and the state she looked to be in, it appeared to be a life-and-death situation.
"I'm sending emergency personnel to your location, Mannie, in the meantime, you have to administer CPR on the girl." His words had a reassuring tone, As he typed on the keyboard.
Mannie was starting to hyperventilate. "I don't know if I can... what if..." he looked and sounded like he was about to pass out.
"Mannie, calm down." Violet sternly interrupted. "We all were trained in first aid."
Mannie tried and failed to calm down, but he stopped hyperventilating."Forgetting is not the problem, what if I'm too strong and I crack her sternum or a rib? What if her whole chest crushes beneath my hands mid-compression?" He sobbed.
"Mannie, none of that's gonna matter, didn't you say that she wasn't breathing?" Cam said.
I have trained newbie lifeguards before on the force and this isn't the first time I had to reassure someone that the patient's going to be OK... so long as they get on that cardio pulmonary resuscitation right away, yes those people are usually someone stronger than the average person and they're concerned about crushing the patient with their bare hands, but I keep being told and I myself keep saying that it Doesn't matter, they are dying and if that kind of concern keeps him or her from doing what's necessary, that patient is definitely going to die.
Nevertheless what Cam just said to Mannie was kind of terse.
Just then, I thought popped in my head. "If you're morphed, Power down, do you think that'll alleviate your anxiety?" I asked, trying my best to soothe him.
"Yes?" Mannie's answer skewed a bit raspy, but at least I got a straight answer.
"There you go." I said. "Hurry up though, she's dying." His red suit spontaneously dematerialized, Revealing no shirt, blue jeans and red sneakers, don't get me started on what everything of his from neck to waist looks like, physique aside, he was seemingly covered with cuts and bruises, was this boy still sustaining injuries from that frog monster or was he fighting a pack of wolves or something?
He took as deep of a breath as he could. "Right, d-duly noted." He said, tilting her head back and lifting her chin before he pinched her nose, pressed his lips over hers and breathed into them (all this with shaky hands). "I didn't mean it, Jane." Gave another rescue breath. "Breathe, Please, breathe." He pleaded, moving his hands from her face to her chest, sat one hand on top of the other with fingers interlocking and started to compress.
Puzzling as what he just told Jane was, I'm impressed with how he handled it, sure, he was crying and whimpering and hyperventilated at first, but he was reviving her so that's all that's going to matter in the long run.
"You're doing great, Mannie, just keep it up." I said.
She still wasn't responding and Mannie's tears were starting to fall harder as he gave her an additional two rescue breath"It's not working, she still won't breathe." He wailed, continuing chest compressions.
"Keep going, EP is almost there, they can take over if you're exhausted." Cam reassured, blaring sirens filled the atmosphere, it was emergency personnel,
Once they took over, Mannie showed signs of exhaustion, EP (hopefully) has a defibrillator, because the CPR is only a stopgap and unless Jane miraculously springs back to life before hand, poor Mannie's going to work himself to death if she doesn't.
Present day
Although I was off duty today as a lifeguard and on duty as a nanny for a blind 17-year-old, not exactly how I planned on spending my day off… Actually no, I had no plans, but anything but babysitting an already physically full-grown and theoretically independent male about to transition from boy to man.
"Excuse me, Sir, are you Justin Stewart?" A young woman asked, I looked a little further to my left and I saw a platinum blond woman approaching Justin with a man who looked like a gender swapped version of her trailing as close behind as he could be without tripping her.
"Correct, are you two Jane and John Doe number 156?" Justin's answer to their question came in the form of a question of his own.
"Yes, we were told to meet up with you and wait for your contact." John said, my eyes looking them up and down, their athletic wear was their pre-assigned colors, any exposed skin showed slight discoloration in spite of the basically albinism, possible reminders of an earthquake I've heard about, word-of-mouth from our contact is that they survived with their memories of their lives prior not intact, their family is dead and they can't even remember them.
"Oh, Angel; you're temporarily relieved of your nannying duties, if you want to see your boyfriend." Justin said, he is a sweet dude on top of being smart, must've been the loss of eyesight.
"Thank you." I said with a smile before jogging up to Cam and kissing him on the cheek.
Yes, I have a boyfriend, unlike him, I don't like to brag… Although if you insist on a backstory, it was my first day as a lifeguard, I had my eye on him because he looked like he was being a little reckless and his antics were kind of scaring me, bolted right towards him with my rescue buoy in hand the minute he fell off his feet, when I got to him, he was unconscious and his head harbored a wound that was bleeding a little bit, which was not good, especially because he was in the water so I put him on top of my rescue buoy, tugged it to shore, set him to the sandy ground on his back once we were back on shore and checked for vital signs, there was none so… You know what I was supposed to do (it was part of my training) and that was exactly what I did it until he was alert, some of my colleagues rushed to stop the bleeding while I did all this.
The two guys that Cam was talking to must be two of the new recruits. "It's a relief to see you didn't die." The tall young male brunette said, sounding blown away by Cameron's story, the blond male of similar age and stature nodded in agreement.
Oh Cameron, flexing what he was allowed to flex, as always. "But I had to have died, I came to in the arms of an angel." Cam said, gesturing to me, making me blush, The real heroes were the ones that stopped the bleeding on his head while I was busy administering CPR. "I guess that's why they call her Angel."
"Oh, stop it, you." I bashfully said, I suppose we were somewhat of an inversion of the classic fairytale, you know the one... girl gets in trouble only to be saved by her knight in shining armor… Well, we're most likely the opposite of that story where the prince had a moment of recklessness and the girl who wasn't in all that much trouble is there to help when he got hurt. "I was just doing my job, little did I know I'd get rewarded for it."
"Guys, duty calls." A voice shouted, I turned my head in it's direction and saw a skinny young lady clad in blue.
"Right, Violet." I heard Cam call back before I felt his velvety lips peck my cheekbone. "You should get somewhere safe, Babe." He whispered into my ear before sprinting to catch up with the others.
"Be careful." I instinctively shouted.
"I'm not gonna be the one risking my life to protect the innocent from the guilty." Cam answered my shout with a chuckle, True, but he is my boyfriend, in spite of me knowing he's going to be the IT, I would still find it prudent of him to be careful in case he ever would become a Ranger.
Angel was originally going to be alternative Leanne, but looking up her and Ethan's actors respective ages, I determined that it wouldn't be a good idea because the actress who plays her is too old to be dating Cameron so back to the drawing board with her, at least I know I want her to be a redhead.
Yes, I did cast Ethan's actor as Cameron (and I am keeping the name), I'm sure he would appreciate it for reasons the color of his civilian attire foreshadows... and personal reasons I can almost easily relate to.
Not sure who to alternatively cast as Blake (not so much Hunter for reasons that benefit my creativity) so they're albinoish until I am (feels like I might wanna adopt that writing tactic, make anyone I don't have a definitive appearance for albino/platinum blond until I do)... also, this US exclusive gold/amber/whatever dark shade of yellow beetle ranger really should be a familiar face that I think deserves a second chance.
