Yet another chapter begins. This one is primarily a fight chapter, and I suck at writing fights (Or atleast I think I do). Anyway, on with the story!
Heavy rain hit Ruby Rose as she burst straight through the window and into the night. Thunder roared through the sky and lightning lit up the surroundings of Cecilia's house as Ruby chased after the killer. She crashed into the floor but immediately pushed herself back up and ran after the man that dared to try and kill Cecilia.
The man stopped and looked towards Ruby as she ran towards him. Crescent Rose lay firmly in her hands, still stuck in it's sniper form. She looked towards the man and tried her best to make out his features in the dark and rainy night.
He had what looked to be a long black trench coat and dark gray trousers, along with a pair of black combat boots. His short black hair was soaked and frizzy, and his eyes were a glistening red. He stared right at her with a manic smile on his face.
In his hands lay a pair of revolvers with axe blades attached to the bottom of each barrel. The body of the guns were made from wood and the metal parts were worn and rusted.
"Prepare to meet your maker you twisted fuck!" Ruby shouted as she charged towards the man. He simply laughed as she approached.
Then, he disappeared.
Ruby looked towards his former location in shock. She looked all around her for the killer, but found nothing. Where the fuck is he? The area around her was incredibly dark, only lit up by the occasional strike of lightning. What's his plan? Hide until I-
Before she could ponder any further, a manic laugh came from right behind her. The man raised his axe and struck her with it, sending her back a good few feet. Her aura flickered slightly, but held firm. He charged again, and Ruby responded by raising up Crescent Rose to fire. He charged in with both guns raised and with a manic smile on his face.
She fired her gun, sending a round straight towards him. He disappeared again in a plume of black smoke, avoiding the bullet altogether. Ruby looked around once more, anticipating yet another strike. "Hide all you want, cowa-"
Before she could finish, a bullet came from behind her and went straight through her left shoulder. She span around and fell straight to the floor. Blood poured from her shoulder as she let out a grunt.
The man appeared a short distance away from her. Smoke trailed from the barrel end of the gun on his right hand.
"First blood goes to me! A shame, I was hoping you'd get a jab at me." He said with a wide smile on his face. He walked towards her and raised both of his guns, pointing them straight towards her head. "Goodbye, whatever you name is!"
Fucking idiot. "I'm afraid this fight isn't over yet." Before the man could fire his guns, Ruby dashed away in a burst of petals. The killer followed her close behind as she ran through the village in search of a better place to fight.
His semblance allows him to fade into the shadows, so I'll have to find somewhere bright. Very bright. Ruby ran through the village as fast as she could in search of somewhere, anywhere, that would lack any shadows.
A small building nearby caught Ruby's attention. It was small bar near the entrance of the village, and although it looked empty, the lights were still on. Seizing her chance, Ruby dashed straight towards it with the killer close behind.
She ran as fast she she could along the muddy path. The rain fell much faster, and lightning lit up the area around her as she went. A loud bang came from behind her, and a bullet flew right past her right shoulder. Blood still poured from her left shoulder, but her aura was doing it's best to keep the blood from erupting out of her wound like a volcano. Another bang, and another bullet, this time flying straight for her head.
She ducked and felt the air move as the bullet whizzed right past her, missing her by a few inches. The man behind her laughed as he closed the distance, occasionally melting into the shadows to catch up to her.
The building was only a few metres away from her now, and she could see that it was empty. It was a rather dingy looking bar, and the sign outside was made from wood. She dashed forward as another shot came right by her and smashed through the window of the building. Thanks for that.
Ruby dashed right through the window, rose petals falling behind her as she went. She went straight over the glass floor and crash landed right next to one of the tables. Thankfully, there was no glass on that part of the floor, and so she pushed herself up and stood upright.
Before she could catch her breathe, the killer jumped through the window and landed upright. Oh, of course he gets to stick the landing! He shot her a manic smile and charged straight towards her, his left axe raised to attack.
Let's so how good you are on even ground, Ruby thought to herself as she gripped the short sword on her hip with her left hand and Crescent Rose in her right. The man charged towards her and swung down with his axe gun, and Ruby responded by raising her sword to block it. Both weapons clashed, but before the man could swing his other weapon Ruby kicked him straight in the groin, pushing him back a few feet.
He snarled and raised his guns to fire. A volley of shots came straight towards Ruby, but she dodged each one, dashing around the room using her semblance and her speed. I have the advantage here. The second he runs out of ammo I can charge in and attack him. The man pointed both his guns towards Ruby. She looked towards him and came to a halt on top of one of the tables a few metres a way from him.
He looked towards her and a small smile crept up on his face. "Well, well, well. It looks like you can put up one hell of fight after all. I'll admit, this has been a rather wondrous show, but I think it's time for the grand finale." He said as he raised his guns once more, but not towards Ruby. He aimed them straight towards the lights on the ceiling and fired.
The bullets smashed straight into the lights, sending shards of glass to the floor and drowning the bar in darkness. Well, shit-
Before she could even so much as move, a manic laugh echoed across the room. Ruby stood firm, looking all around her in an attempt to find the madman, but it was no use. Before she could react, a sharp blade dug straight into her back.
She grunted in pain. Blood spewed forth from the new wound, and the weapon that caused it was pulled out, causing even more pain. She tried her best to shrug off the pain, pushing her aura to the wound in an attempt to mitigate the damage done.
I need to get the fuck out of here. Ruby eyed the window that she jumped through and ran towards it. The man didn't attack her as she dashed straight through the window and out into the open. The rain pelted her as she landed on her feet, stinging her open wounds.
The killer jumped right out of the window, landing a few feet away from her. "I'd say it's been quite the show, but it's time for our little play to end." He said with a small grin on his face.
"Please…" Ruby croaked out.
"Please… What? Please spare me? Please make my death quick? Don't worry, I'll make your death slow and painful."
"Please… Stop with the fucking showmanship. You've given me more reasons than I'll ever need to kill you. I don't need any more."
"Oh…" The man's grin turned to a snarl as he spoke. "I think it's time for our grand encore."
"Did you not listen to me you fuc-" Ruby shook her head. "Fuck this. Just die already." Ruby raised Crescent Rose and aimed it straight towards his chest. She fired, and the bullet flew right by him as he dodged it by going into the shadows.
Ruby pushed her aura to the front of her body as the man charged towards her. A flash of lightning lit up the area. Ruby looked towards the man as he appeared for a brief moment during the flash.
He returned back to the shadows and appeared once more, axe raised to attack.
He struck at her, but she blocked it with the blade of her sword. She pushed the weapon away, and he retreated once more into the shadows.
He showed up for a brief moment during the flash. If I can catch him at the right time, I can shoot him down. Ruby pulled the bolt back on Crescent Rose and loaded another round. She hadn't bothered to check her magazine, but it was probably her last round.
She raised Crescent Rose and searched around. Another flash of lighting lit up the area, and out of the corner of her eye she saw the man charge towards her from the distance. She swung her rifle around towards him and prepared herself to fire.
She prayed that the man was still charging from the direction she was aiming towards. Otherwise, well…
She was fucked.
She prepped herself to fire. Another flash came, and the area lit up once more. The shadows were gone, and all that remained was her target.
He appeared for a brief moment, but that was all she needed. He had a wide grin on his face. His weapons were raised for another attack. An attack that would never come.
Ruby pulled the trigger and fired. The bullet went straight out and flew towards the man. His face was filled with shock, but before he could push his aura to defend himself, the round slammed right into his chest and straight through his lung, coming right out of his back.
He fell to the floor with a thud, but he didn't pause for a second. He tried to push himself back up, a snarl present on his face and blood coming out of his mouth. Before he could get up, a boot slammed straight into his face. Blood came out of his nose and mouth as he rolled over, until he was facing upwards. The rain hit his face, and blood ran down it.
"Stay the fuck down!" Ruby shouted, a snarl across her face.
"Heh… Who knew, that-" He coughed up a bit of blood. "-You would be the one to finish this gran-" Before he could finish, a sword went straight through his face, killing him instantly.
Ruby pulled her sword out of his face and let It fall to her side. The wounds on her body stung, and blood fell down her blouse and cape. She looked towards the man and then spat on him. "I told you. Stop with the fucking showmanship."
Ruby's attention was pulled away as the sound of voices came from the distance. She looked up from the corpse and saw a small group approach. Most of them were civilians that she didn't recognise, along with a few guards as well.
Cecilia lead the small group towards her. They surrounded both Ruby and the killer, while the guards kept their distance, guns in hand.
"Ruby!" Cecilia shouted as she ran towards Ruby. She embraced her in a hug, and Ruby stood there in shock.
"Hey...Ceci-" Ruby croaked out, the wounds on her chest stung in a little harder, and she began to fell a little light headed.
"Are you alright, Ruby?"
"Yeah… I'm… Uhhhh-" Before she could finish, the world started to turn dark, and her eyes drifted to the ground.
She fainted, and fell down into the muddy floor.
Ruby woke up in a panic. She looked around her, eyes darting to every corner of the room she was in. Her breathing was heavy, and sweat covered her face. The bed she was in was comfortable, but that didn't do her much good. Her vision was hazy, and she could barely make out-
"Ruby." A voice came from beside her, shocking her. She turned to face the person beside her and saw Cecilia. She was sat on a chair beside Ruby's bed, and her hands were touching Ruby's hands. "It's okay, Ruby. Your safe."
Ruby calmed down a little. Her breathing became a little lighter, and her vision cleared. She was in a small room with a table that had a few medical tools on it. Bandages covered her wounds, stopping the blood from coming out.
"What happened?" Ruby asked, her voice was low.
"You fainted after your fight with that killer. He's probably hanging from a tree right now. Shame we couldn't do it while he was still alive, though."
"Good. Crazy fuck would probably go on about how it's the perfect finale to his grand performance. Fucking pyscho."
"Heh. He sounds like it. Anyway, it's good to know your safe. Everyone in the village is singing your praises, by the way."
"Really? Well, let's hope they give me a reward."
"The only reward your getting is the warm feeling you get inside your heart after a job well done."
Ruby stared at Cecilia for a moment. After all I did for these people, I don't get diddly sq- Before she could finish, Cecilia burst out laughing. "Yeah, right. Tell you what, once you get better I might consider taking you down to the bar for a few drinks. You deserve it."
"Damn right I do!"
Cecilia and Ruby talked for a little while before she left the room, leaving Ruby to her thoughts.
Being a hero has it's benefits after all.
Fight chapters are a bitch to make, especially if you don't know how to do them properly (Me in a nutshell). Anyway, the killer is dead, and the village is saved. Hooray, I guess.
Anyway, on to the next chapter!.
