Chapter Eleven

There was a lot of rummaging around in the Owl House. Taking out boxes and seeing what could be sold at market. Hearing a knock at the front door, Danielle sees Gus and lets him in.

"Hey, guess what Danielle," said Gus, looking excited. "Your ban has finally been lifted."

"That's great," said Danielle, excited while moving a box. "Eda, is it okay to check out Hexside?"

"There ain't nothing for you at that dweebus factory," said Eda, before looking at Gus. "No offense, dweebus."

"It's okay," said Gus, looking at Eda. "I come from a long line of dweebuses."

"You're not a dweebus Gus," said Danielle, looking at Gus then Eda. "This could give you a break from me Eda. When was the last time you had some you time?"

"Point taken," said Eda, standing up. "But don't you want to be part of the "Bad Girl Coven"? I already got a t-shirt order."

"Would love one," said Danielle, looking at Eda. "But giving you this break by going to Hexside will show me magic from others. I love your teaching and everything but I kinda want to expand."

"I mean, yeah, well…" said Eda, grunting before leaving. "I don't wanna hear another word about Hexside, unless it's "Hexside is on fire" and "let's grab front row seats"!"

"Aw, look what you did. I'm gonna go rub it in," said King, laughing before following after Eda. "Nyeh!"

"Think you can come tomorrow?" asked Gus, looking at Danielle.

"Of course," said Danielle, looking at Gus. "This gives me more time to really talk to Eda."

"Great!" said Gus, heading to the front door. "I'll see you tomorrow!"

"Bye," said Danielle, seeing Gus leave.

As the day went on, Danielle was able to talk more with Eda. After listening enough, Eda finally relented and said it was okay. The next day arrives, and Danielle heads towards Hexside. Seeing Willow and Gus, Danielle waves to get their attention.

"Hi Willow, Hi Gus," said Danielle, walking over to the two. "How is everything?"

"Great," replied Willow, looking at Danielle. "Principal Bump is glad to see my grades improving in the Plant track."

"Everyone at the H.A.S. are looking forward to seeing you," said Gus, before his demon watch goes off. "That's my alarm. We better get going."

"Bye Willow, see you later," said Danielle, walking after Gus. "So, I guess it's Principal Bump's office first to get a visitor pass?"

"Sure," said Gus, walking towards Principal Bump's office and opening the door.

"What is it?" asked Principal Bump, noticing Danielle and Gus. "Oh, right. The ban is lifted. I'm guessing you convinced Eda to let you see Hexside."

"Yup," said Danielle, looking at Principal Bump. "I wanted to get a visitor's pass this time to avoid any trouble."

"Here," said Principal Bump, handing the pass over. "Enjoy your visit to Hexside."

"I will. Bye," said Danielle, following Gus out of Principal Bump's office. "So, where to first? Uh… what's that?"

"Well, they kinda showed up after your last visit," replied Gus, looking at the School Guard then Danielle. "They smell trouble. Literally."

"Next destination please," said Danielle, walking away down a different hall.

"Not a problem," said Gus, walking after Danielle before bumping into someone. "Mattholomule."

"Here Gus," said Danielle, picking up papers that fell out of Gus's bag and handing them to Gus.

"Augustus, you should really watch where you going. Don't want the president of the H. A. S. getting hurt on his last day in office," said Mattholomule, picking up and dusting the crown before looking at Danielle. "This must be your human. Hmm. Looks like another witchling to me."

"I assure you," said Danielle, pulling her hair back some to reveal her ears. "I am human."

"A human!" said Mattholomule, gasping.

"Not just any human," said Gus, gesturing to Danielle. "An expert human."

"Remember," said Danielle, looking at Gus. "I only know what I know. There are still things I have yet to learn."

"Got'cha," said Gus, looking at Danielle. "She's here to authenticate your treasures. See you at the meeting."

"See you later," said Danielle, walking alongside Gus.

"Oh, no, no, no, no! They can't know I lied. Then they'll never make me president. Huh?" said Mattholomule, noticing a banned poster of Danielle that wasn't burned yet. "Ooh, Gus, I have you now. Though I have to admit, the human is kinda hot."

As Gus showed Danielle around Hexside, Danielle was able to take in the various things she saw. Showing Danielle, a trophy case before seeing the abomination teacher and apologizing to him. Unfortunately, the abomination teacher just shrugged off the apology. Danielle even noticed some graffiti on some lockers.

"This must be the Plant track homeroom," said Danielle, before seeing Willow. "Hi Willow."

"Oh, hey Danielle," said Willow, ushering her and Gus in. "How's the tour going so far?"

"Pretty well," replied Danielle, before seeing Willow tickle a plant to release a student. "You're good."

"Is this the first track homeroom you've seen?" asked Willow, looking at Danielle.

"Yup, eep," replied Danielle, backing away from a flower that snapped at her. "Carnivorous little fella."

"You got to be careful around certain ones," said Willow, looking at Danielle.

"If you want, I can use the plant glyph to grow specific plants from home for you to study here," said Danielle, holding out some plant glyphs.

"Really, that would be awesome," said Willow, before watching Danielle set off the plant glyphs. "Oooo, what is each one?

Danielle explained each plant that she brought forth. And it wasn't just Willow that was fascinated but the whole class. Afterwards, Gus showed the Illusion track homeroom.

"And this is where I spend my time," said Gus, ushering Danielle in. "The Illusion Track Homeroom."

"Wow," said Danielle, seeing illusions being displayed. "Hi Emira, Hi Edric."

"Hey Danielle," said the twins, waving hi to Danielle.

"Illusions are definitely useful but can technology see through it," said Danielle, taking out her cellphone and pointing it at a spell circle only to see a glyph. "Looks like I got a new glyph."

"Really?" said Gus, seeing the glyph on the cellphone. "Great, you'll be able to use illusions now too."

"Let's see," said Danielle, drawing the glyph before stepping on it, a shimmering film crawling up her body. "Yup, that works."

Danielle's illusion changed her appearance. Long copper hair pulled up in a ponytail with a turquoise bow, dark green eyes, and a fair complexion. Wore a blue sashinuki hakama, a turquoise happi coat patterned with leaves, and a tan fur vest. Had fox ears and tail.

"Wow," said Edric, staring at Danielle. "Can you stay like that?"

"No," replied Danielle, only for the illusion to dissipate. "Looks like I need to work on it. Gus, is that a…"

"That's one of my illusions," said Gus, looking over to the next class over. "Takes notes for me when I'm not around."

"That can't be good," said Danielle, seeing the illusionary copy of Gus holding up a piece of paper reading "I'm not paying attention".

"He doesn't always do what he's told," said Gus, about to walk over.

"Did you move up a couple of grades?" asked Danielle, looking at Gus. "Is that a thing here?"

"Yeah. I moved up a couple grades," replied Gus, before his demon watch went off. "Oh! Time for the H. A. S. meeting."

Heading straight for the H.A.S. meeting, Gus gestures for Danielle to stay outside momentarily. Danielle could hear the club members chanting "human" from the hall. Walking on into the classroom twanging a paper clip.

"Human Appreciation Society..." said Gus, still twanging the paper clip. "It is my distinct pleasure to introduce to you... Danielle, the human!"

"Hi there," said Danielle, standing in the doorway before walking in the classroom.

"She's horrifying," said a Goat-like Student, staring at Danielle.

"Please don't call me that," said Danielle, looking at the Goat-like Student.

"Danielle, will you inspect the items?" asked Gus, gesturing to Mattholomule's stuff on the desk.

"Sure," replied Danielle, before looking at the fake human skull. "Does my head really look that small to you?"

"Er… well… no," replied Mattholomule, nervously before knocking the stuff off the table. "Don't make another move, human!"

"Watch it," said Danielle, glaring at Mattholomule.

"I... have something to say. I'm new here at Hexside. M-Making friends has been hard, so I lied. They're all fakes," said Mattholomule, making a certain member to gasp. "I thought if I was important enough people would like me. But I've caused enough drama. So, I'll go. I'm sorry."

"Well, at least you came clean about it," said Danielle, looking at Mattholomule.

"Mattholomule, you aren't alone," said Gus, looking at Mattholomule. "You have a place here in the H. A. S."

"You're not alone," said the Goat-like Student, looking at Mattholomule. "You're one of us."

"We admire your honesty," said a Female Healing Student, looking at Mattholomule.

"Thanks, guys," said Mattholomule, blushing slightly. "I knew you'd understand."

During the whole H.A.S. meeting, Danielle was able to explain a lot of stuff to the members. Even corrected the things that Gus had on display which Gus had no problem with. Seeing that the meeting was ending, the members bid Danielle bye as they head to their next class.

"That was very productive," said Danielle, stretching her arms above her head. "Glad I was able to help clear up a lot of things."

"I can't believe how many things I got wrong," said Gus, looking at his stuff. "Thanks for explaining everything."

"Not a problem," said Danielle, looking at Gus.

"Hey, Augustus, Danielle, thank you for being so forgiving," said Mattholomule, smiling.

"We've all been the new kid at one point," said Danielle, looking at Mattholomule then Gus. "Right, Gus?"

"Yeah," replied Gus, smiling.

"Well, I just have one thing to say..." said Mattholomule, only for the door to bang open with School Guards outside while he held up the banned poster of Danielle. "There she is! She's the intruder!"

"Whoa there, that ban has…" said Danielle, only to be hooked by the School Guard and dragged out of the classroom. "The heck?!"

"Danielle!" said Gus, shocked.

"Oh, who's the liar now, Augustus?" said Mattholomule, staring at Gus.

"What are you doing? Let go!" shouted Danielle, as the School Guard drags her down the hall. "Just wait until Principal Bump hears about this."

"Trouble?" said the School Guard, unsure about his decision even after seeing the banned poster of Danielle.

"Okay then," said Danielle, grabbing the hook and breaking it in half. "There, can't drag me now with this damn thing."

"… …" said the School Guard, before pointing down a specific hall.

"What is it?" asked Danielle, looking in the direction only to scream after seeing the demonic door. "You're not throwing me in there! Aaaaah! Oomph!"

Shaking her head some, Danielle looks around the room. Creeped out, Danielle sits on a nearby rock. It wasn't long later that Danielle heard Mattholomule complaining outside before he and Gus were thrown in the room.

"Get me outta here!" shouted Mattholomule, banging on the door. "Open up!"

"Danielle!" shouted Gus, running over to Danielle.

"What is going on?" asked Danielle, looking at Gus. "Principal Bump lifted the ban."

"Apparently not all the posters of you were burned," said Gus, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Whoa," said Danielle, seeing the floor open up and peering down. "What is this place?"

"Detention," replied Gus, staring at the open floor.

"Detention!" said Danielle, staring at Gus. "It feels more like a death sentence."

"Welcome to my world," said Mattholomule, leaning towards Gus. "Believe it or not, at my old school I was in detention plenty of times."

"That is not something to be proud of," said Danielle, glaring at Mattholomule.

"Well, down in detention, this jerk is king. So, if you wanna get out, you better do exactly what I say. But first, before anything else, we gotta…" said Mattholomule, walking forward before yelping when a demon-like snake appeared. "Already?"

"Mattholomule!" shouted Danielle, grabbing ahold of Mattholomule's hands. "Don't let go!"

"What… but…" said Mattholomule, staring at Danielle. "Aren't you mad at me?"

"You darn tootin I am," said Danielle, trying to pull Mattholomule free. "But not enough to see whatever this thing is hurt you."

"There's more coming," said Gus, staring down in the hole. "What do we do?"

"There's some exploding potions in my pockets," replied Danielle, looking at Gus. "Throw them at the whatever-they-are."

Grabbing some exploding potions, Gus throws them at the demon-like snakes. Finally freeing Mattholomule, Danielle notices a giant bone at the bottom of the hole. Setting off a plant glyph, Danielle sends the vines down to grab the bone. Gesturing to Gus and Mattholomule, they catch on to what Danielle had planned. Grabbing hold of the bone as well, all three run towards the demon door and bang it few times before it busts open.

"Thank the heavens," said Danielle, taking deep breaths before spotting Eda, Willow and Principal Bump. "Eda! Principal Bump! Willow!"

"Guess who got you into Hexside!" said Eda, staring at Danielle.

"Huh…?" said Danielle, before the demon-like snakes hissed behind her and the boys before bashing them with the bone, screaming all the while.

"Uh, sorry, Principal Bump. Sir," said the Demon-like Snake, beaten up before hearing Principal Bump snap his fingers and crawling back into the room.

"Oh, my goodness," said Danielle, slumping to the floor. "What a relief."

"What did you do?" asked Principal Bump, staring at Danielle.

"Ugh, kid," said Eda, facepalming.

"To think that any student of yours would be capable of doing anything but create chaos..." said Principal Bump, staring at Eda. "Eda, take your student and leave! You are both banned from this campus!"

"Again?" said Danielle, shocked. "And just when it was lifted."

"It was lifted?" thought Mattholomule, looking between Danielle and Principal Bump.

"Come on, kid," said Eda, gesturing Danielle over. "Let's go."

"Wait!" said Mattholomule, getting Principal Bump's attention and taking out the banned poster of Danielle. "I thought there was a ban on her. I initiated everything just so I could be president of the H.A.S."

"Mattholomule," said Danielle, looking at Mattholomule.

"I wanted to assert my dominance here," said Mattholomule, crumbling the edges of the poster. "I guess Glandus rules don't really apply here."

"No, they don't," said Principal Bump, staring at Mattholomule. "Would you be willing to accept her punishment as your own?"

"Yes, Principal Bump," said Mattholomule, looking at Principal Bump than Danielle. "After you rescued me, I'll gladly take it to make amends."

"Thanks, Mattholomule," said Danielle, staring at Mattholomule with a smile.

"Very well," said Principal Bump, before looking at Danielle. "In light of that, barring any more trouble, you shall officially be enrolled in Hexside School next semester."

"Thank you, Principal Bump," said Danielle, slightly bowing.

"Uh, hold on. Hold on," said Eda, before placing her hands on Danielle's shoulders. "I'm only doing this because I have faith in you. And I know you're too smart to fall for that One-Witch, One-Coven nonsense. You can learn a lot from the witches here. And maybe teach them some of that Bad Girl Coven magic too."

"Hehe," said Danielle, slightly blushing. "I'll see what I can do."

"I didn't hear that," said Principal Bump, walking away. "Now, with that accomplished, Eda, we have some paperwork to fill out."

"Wait! I gotta do more stuff? Ugh!" said Eda, before ruffling Danielle's hair. "You better enjoy this place, kid."

"Don't worry. I will," said Danielle, before turning to the boys and Willow. "Now what?"

"Wanna finish off that tour?" asked Gus, staring at Danielle.

"I can show you guys what plants not to touch in the greenhouse," said Willow, looking at Danielle and Gus. "And then I can let you touch them."

"I can help with the tour as well," said Mattholomule, rubbing the back of his neck. "As a way to say sorry."

"Thanks, you guys," said Danielle, smiling. "I'd love that."

As the tour went on, Willow and the boys were able to show Danielle more of the school. Danielle was also able to get two more glyphs thanks to Mattholomule when checking out the Construction track homeroom. By the end of the tour, Danielle bids goodbye to Willow and the boys before heading back to the Owl House. Seeing Eda with a bunch of papers, Danielle goes through them alongside Eda, getting a chuckle every once in a while, due to the papers being Eda's permanent records.

"Wow Eda," said Danielle, chuckling slightly. "You were a riot back then, weren't you?"

"(yawning) What I miss?"
