Chapter 7

Christmas was coming and Blaine had been thinking of what to get the Hummel family for gifts. He wanted the gifts to be thoughtful and special, nothing they would ever get themselves. He'd also been thinking about his mother and the danger Kurt could be in after she met him. He realized the safest thing he could do was ask Kurt to marry him. Once they were married his parents wouldn't dare do anything. He thought he could ask Kurt to marry him as part of his Christmas gifts. He just had to figure out what else to give him.

Blaine had it all planned out finally. He was going to ask Kurt to marry him on Christmas eve. In front of their family, Burt and Carole. He told them his family didn't celebrate the holidays, so he was invited over to spend them with his new family. He arrived with his hands full with bags of gifts. He was so excited he may have done too much. He was equal parts nervous as well.

He knocked on the door and was greeted by Burt, grabbing a handful of gifts and pulling him in for a half hug. "Merry Christmas son."

A tear glistened in Blaine's eye. These people treated him so well, it was something he never knew he was missing out on growing up.

Carole hugged him next, taking the rest of the packages from him.

Kurt bounded down the stairs already dressed in his holiday pajamas ready for a night with family at home.

"Sweetheart, so glad you could be here with us tonight," Kurt kissed him and wrapped his arms around his waist.

They all settled down for a nice relaxing dinner. The Hummel tradition was to open one gift after they finished dinner.

"I know it's not Thanksgiving, but I wanted to tell you all how grateful I am that you've welcomed me into your family and have treated me so well," Blaine said, looking each of them in the eye, one by one.

"Sweetie, you are part of our family, we love you," Carole said, with Burt quickly agreeing.

They all cleaned up the table and sat in the living room to open gifts.

Blaine gave Carole some magically powered shoes that massaged her feet while she was working as a nurse. "It all works with kinetic energy," Blaine explained away the magic part of the shoes.

"Oh my gosh, these will be wonderful when I've been on my feet for hours."

Burt got a new team shirt for the Buckeyes from Carole.

"Kurt, could I give you my gift tonight?" Blaine asked, feeling jittery.

"You didn't have to get me anything, you are enough of a gift, but of course," Kurt smiled.

Blaine slowly dropped to one knee in front of Kurt, causing Kurt to gasp and turn bright red.

"Kurt, I know it hasn't been that long that we've known each other, but I know I'd be the luckiest man in the world if you would agree to marry me and spend the rest of our lives together," he looked up with eyes full of hope.

Burt and Carole were stunned, with everyone looking at Kurt to see what he would say.

Kurt, with tears streaming down his face, looked at the ring and looked at Blaine like he couldn't believe this was happening. He realized he needed to actually be able to speak, cleared his throat and said. "I'd love to share my life with you, sweetness, yes, I'll marry you."

Blaine jumped up putting the ring on Kurt's finger and then pulling him in for a hug and deep kiss.

Carole yelled, and she and Burt jumped up to congratulate them both.

Kurt was still stunned, he never expected this to happen to him.

After everyone calmed down Blaine spoke up again.

"You all are my family and I'd love for us to have a small ceremony with just the 4 of us. I'm happy to pay for us to get married wherever you want Kurt. Whatever you want, but I'd love to not have a long engagement and be able to start our lives together soon."

"What about your parents," Burt asked.

"My father doesn't approve, and my mother is traveling. I just want it to be my new and true family celebrating," Blaine said seriously.

After all that had happened, everyone had hot chocolate and watched Christmas shows on TV until bedtime came around. When it was just Kurt and Blaine left alone Blaine checked in.

"How are you feeling, angel?"

"I'm honestly stunned, I never thought anyone would want to marry me, but I'm also sad for you that your family won't be a part of our new life together."

"I meant what I said, I feel closer to your family than I ever did to mine. I can't wait until we have a home of our own and to be able to spend every night together," Blaine smiled at Kurt.

"I've fantasized what my wedding might be like, being with you is wonderful. If I can invite a couple friends and design our outfits I'll be happy to marry you anywhere," Kurt sighed, imagining it all in his head.

They cuddled together on the sofa thinking about it all and looking at Kurt's ring, full of joy and excitement.

On Christmas morning Burt pulled Kurt aside while Blaine helped Carole.

"Hey bud, I just want to check in with you. This proposal was a surprise to me. It feels like you guys are rushing a bit, but if you're sure, then I'm not going to stand in the way. Carole and I both love Blaine, and he obviously makes you happy," Burt said, holding Kurt in his arms.

"Thanks dad, I was thinking it seemed fast too, but honestly, there's no place I'd rather be than with Blaine, and the connection I feel with him is something I've never even thought of with anyone else."

"I'm kind of sad that his own family isn't supportive, but I know he feels like you and Carole are his family now, thank you for that."

"As far as I'm concerned he is family," Burt said, smiling at Kurt.

"Blaine wants to get married as soon as possible and to find a house together, I'm still in a bit of shock with everything, but we will work things out," Kurt said as they walked back in, to see Carole and Blaine putting out plates of breakfast food for everyone.

They started looking at homes online that day, with them imagining what they each would want in a home. They both liked Cape Cod style homes and wanted to have 3 bedrooms ideally. They hadn't talked about it, but both of them would love to have children somehow.

They were having trouble finding the perfect home, most didn't have room for Kurt to set up a shop or be able to do some work from home. Blaine wanted some privacy from the neighbors, most homes were pretty close to each other.

Finally Blaine found a piece of vacant land with a couple acres on it. He thought it was perfect and started quizzing Kurt on all the things he dreamed of in a home. Once he had a clear picture of things he went to work with his magic, after buying the property as a surprise for Kurt. Once he'd magicked up all the requirements for the city and county, along with the new place he drove Kurt over to check it out.

"Blaine, this is stunning, but I doubt we can afford this big of a home and the land," Kurt said after falling in love with the place.

"Well…, I uh, have a surprise for you," Blaine hedged a bit.

"What, you are secretly a millionaire?" Kurt snarked.

"Oh, well, uhm…I do have a lot of inherited wealth actually, but what I was going to say is that I already bought the house for us," Blaine gushed out, too excited to hold it in any longer.

"WHAT?! Oh my god, Wow," Kurt said, lost for words.

The smile on Kurt's face and his excitement were worth the exhaustion, for the next couple weeks, that Blaine faced. He could barely get to and from work. He had a lot of power, but all the intricacies of water, power, sewer and the permits and paperwork that he had to corral had left him drained.

So the house was done, but furniture and decorating would have to wait, or they would have to do it the old fashioned way. Kurt was distracted, making their wedding outfits and getting things ready. They were going to get married on Valentine's Day.

Blaine hoped his parents would keep busy, and that his mother would not ask to meet Kurt before then. He was almost safe, once they were married they wouldn't dispose of Kurt, at least he hoped that was the case.

Kurt had an appointment with a new client this morning.

"Hello, Pam, welcome to my creative corner," Kurt said, smiling brightly at her.

"I've heard quite a lot about your designs, wow me," she commanded.

"Oh, of course, can you tell me a little about your likes and interests?" Kurt asked.

"Why would that matter?" Pam said flatly.

"Well, if I am creating something for a new client, I like to try and create designs based on their interests and personality."

"Then tell me what you see so far," Pam said haughtily.

"I see a beautiful woman, who is very self contained, and based on your outfit focused on a more gender neutral style. Your blouse and jacket are very reminiscent of a typical man's three-piece suit, but you have a jacket that flows down your legs and a long flowing skirt underneath."

"Go on."

"To me you seem to be a woman in control, living your life the way you want to, not allowing anyone to push you around. I would suggest a slight softening, some extra details around the edges, some accessories to show you are in control, but you also enjoy life, or the nice touches."

"You interest me, young man. What are the garments you are working on currently, they appear to be wedding themed," Pam changed focus on a dime, not giving an inch.

"My finance has asked me to marry him, I've always dreamed of my wedding day. It's going to be a small ceremony, but I'm designing everyone's outfits."

"If you've been dreaming of this big day your whole life, why is it a small ceremony? Why not lavish? They say you only get married once after all," Pam questioned.

"Sadly, my fiance's family is not very close and his father doesn't approve, so we are just doing a small ceremony with a few close friends. My family has accepted my fiance as if he were their son too," Kurt smiled, a tear rolling down his cheek.

"How sad his family doesn't approve of you. I can't imagine why, you seem like a very nice man."

"I felt like I was a bug when I met his father sadly. I haven't met his mother at all; he just said she travels a lot, and isn't really part of his life."

Pam seemed to be affected by the conversation. Kurt wasn't sure what was going on with her, she started out pretty short and surly.

"Let's talk about what kinds of outfits you are looking for? Do you have some specific events upcoming? Tell me more about your needs."

They talked for a while longer and Kurt had some great ideas for Pam.

"May I ask another personal question?" Pam said hesitantly.

"Of course,"

"When are you getting married?"

Kurt was unsure why she was asking. "Valentine's Day."

They wrapped up shortly after that and Pam was on her way.

Kurt felt like there was something going on he didn't know about with Pam, but he couldn't put his finger on anything in particular about the conversation.

Pam waved her hand and reappeared at her office. "That naughty, naughty boy, planning on getting married without telling his mother."

She lounged behind her massive desk, trying to decide what she would do about the wedding. Kurt seemed nice enough, but was he worthy of her son's affections? Perhaps it was time to test him, yes, that seems like a good idea, and she knew the perfect person she could use, Sebastian. He loves a challenge.

The next time Kurt leaves the shop he bumps into a tall handsome man, they smile and Kurt excuses himself to run for coffee. The unknown man seems to be everywhere Kurt is, the coffee shop, grocery store, walking on the street. Kurt can't believe how often they bump into each other. Finally, the man introduces himself as Sebastian, and starts flirting shamelessly with Kurt.

Something about Sebastian just doesn't seem right to Kurt. He starts asking him for coffee or chatting him up when they run into each other. Kurt tries not to be rude, but that doesn't seem to work.

"Hey beautiful, fancy running into you again," Sebastian smirks at him.

"Yes, it's like you've become my personal stalker," Kurt sighs.

"Let's get coffee and get to know each other," Sebastian says.

"Look, I've tried to be nice, but I'm fully taken," Kurt insists.

"Oh, I don't mind that."

Kurt shakes his head. "Well, I do mind."

"C'mon beautiful, no one needs to know, you'd be in for a wild ride," Sebastian says cheekily, looking down at his own crotch.

Kurt stalks away from him, shaking his head, trying not to laugh at the audacity this man has.

Sebastian even uses some magical nudges to have Kurt trip and fall into his arms and Kurt still won't take the bait.

Kurt is at home, getting ready for bed, and complaining about the annoying Sebastian to Scrap.

"He has to be one of the most pushy and annoying men I've ever met. I told him I was taken and he said that didn't bother him! Can you believe it?

"Sounds like a weasel," Scrap states.

Kurt's eyes bug out of his head as he looks at Scrap. He stops talking and slips under the covers.

Kurt meets Scrap in his dreams again.

"Show me this Sebastian character," Scrap insists.

Kurt thinks of him and Scrap takes a closer look. "There is something wrong with him…I'm not sure what it is though."

"He's driving me crazy, I'm only interested in Blaine, I don't need some weird meerkat looking guy harassing me," Kurt rolls over and falls deeper into sleep.

Scrap jumps out of Kurt's dreams and into Blaines.

"We have a potential problem," Scrap tells Blaine.

"What are you doing in my dreams? You haven't been in them in ages now," Blaine says confusedly.

Scrap tells Blaine about Sebastian and flashes a picture of him. "He looks familiar for some reason," Blaine struggles to remember where he's seen Sebastian before.

"I'm not sure if he's a stalker or not, but something doesn't seem right, he keeps appearing whenever Kurt is out and alone," Scrap states.

"Can you start hanging around Kurt during the day for me, while I'm at school?" Blaine pleads. "I don't want anything bad to happen to Kurt."

"Don't be silly, of course I'm going to hang around Kurt now! Stupid boy." Scrap says haughtily.

Scrap is at Kurt's shop the next day, watching as he goes about his day. Once he puts on his jacket to get coffee for himself and the girls, Scrap shrinks down in size and jumps in his coat pocket.

As soon as Kurt walks out the door, Sebastian appears again.

Kurt startles and then squares his shoulders. He looks at Sebastian with a grimace. "Do you just wait out here for me to appear?"

Sebastian is startled, usually he's the one starting conversation. "What do you mean? I have a life besides bumping into you," he says, sounding offended.

"Well, I've tried changing my schedule and yet I still see you pretty much every time I leave my shop, it's getting really old," Kurt says exasperated.

Suddenly, Sebastian's face changes from flirty and friendly to pissed off. "Listen, you puny mortal, I've been trying to be nice to you, but now it's time I get what I deserve," with that, he grabs Kurt's wrist and starts dragging him down the street. Scrap suddenly jumps out of Kurt's pocket, and grows to full size, as he lands on Sebastian's back and growls loudly before digging his claws into him.

Sebastian curses, but lets go of Kurt, who proceeds to run back to his shop as fast as he can in a panic.

Sebastian is fuming and disappears in a cloud of smoke.

Scrap immediately appears in front of Blaine and his students, and starts explaining about the witch who just tried to kidnap Kurt. Blaine literally has steam coming out of his ears by the time Scrap is done.

"Students! I have an urgent matter to attend to, my familiar, Scrap, will take care of you while I'm gone. If anyone misbehaves, there will be severe consequences, have I made myself clear?"

As soon as the students nodded, Blaine was gone.

Blaine appeared directly in Kurt's shop, Brittany gasped as she watched him suddenly appear.

"Where is Kurt?"

"He-he's really upset, he ran into his office and locked the door."

Blaine snapped his fingers and was suddenly in Kurt's office. "Are you okay? What did he do to you?"

"Blaine!? How did you get in here? I'm so glad you're here, I'm terrified." Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine and started crying. After he slowly calmed down the questions started.

"Blaine, I'm glad you're here, but my office door was locked, how did you get in? For that matter, how did you get here so quickly, or know that I needed you," Kurt was searching for some logical answers.

Unfortunately, Blaine didn't have any of those for him. "Well, now is as good as any time to tell you about all this," Blaine sighed.

"Inkspot, could you come here?" Blaine seemed to be talking to the air.

Suddenly, the big bird appeared right in front of them! Kurt's eyes bulged out.

"How, how did that, there must be something wrong with my eyes," Kurt babbled.

"Nothing wrong with your eyes," Inkspot winked at him, and Kurt heard a voice in his head, was that, no, was it possible?

"Yep, it was me talking to you," Inspot waved his wing around and stared straight at Kurt.

Kurt looked at Inkspot and then over at Blaine. "What is going on? How is this possible?"

"Kurt, you know I love you right," Blaine started out saying.

"Ye-e-e-sss, but I sense a big but here," Kurt stated, staring intently at Blaine.

"Not a but, well, not really. Look, I'm a witch, and normally we don't tell mortals about our powers, but, well, I fell in love with you, and I was trying to figure out when would be good to tell you," Blaine blushed in shame, not making eye contact with Kurt.

"Oh my god, I remember! The cat, Scrap, he told me magic was real in a dream. Was it a dream? I'm so confused."

"He's my familiar, well he, and Inkspot here," Blaine soothed his hand over Inkspot's feathers.

"I'm not explaining things well, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, I was afraid you would run away and not want me," Blaine sighed.

"Blaine, look at me, I love you. Magic being real, I'm still coming to terms with that, but I know that I love you," Kurt said, sinking into a chair bonelessly.

"I'm excited to get to know you better now," Inkspot chimed in. "The puss has had you all to himself for too long."

They all laughed at that.

Kurt looked at Blaine, "so magic is real, but what does that mean? LIke Harry Potter real, or Charmed, something out of comic books, or does that mean all supernatural creatures are real?"

Kurt suddenly gasped, "We can't tell my dad, his heart, he won't be able to take it! Please, please promise me."

"Honey, I won't tell anyone else, unless you are okay with it, although your poor assistant Brittany may now know, I materialized in front of her after Scrap told me about your attack. Which reminds me, let me see your wrist."

Kurt timidly holds out his hand for Blaine to look at.

"I don't think it's broken, he just man-handled me until Scrap got a piece of him," Kurt said thankfully.

"And this was just outside the shop here?"

"Yes, every time I leave the shop he appears, it's been really frustrating, but not scary, until today."

Blaine opens the office door, nods at Brittany and walks out the front door.

He stands there for a few moments gathering his thoughts and energy and then snaps his fingers. Smoke starts to appear and then suddenly disappear in front of him. Blaine starts to get angrier and snaps his fingers again. This time, the smoke is more solid and there seems to be a shape in it.

"You may as well appear, I can do this all day," Blaine says with steel in his voice.

Sebastian suddenly appears in front of Blaine.

"What do you want?"

"You have been messing with my fiance and stalking him. I want to know why? Most witches don't want to be around mortals."

"He's just a pretty face, I thought he'd be good for a tumble. That's all," Sebastian sneers at Blaine.

"That's a nice story, but why continue to haunt him when he wasn't interested? Why invest so much energy into a mortal?" Blaine demands.

"Listen, my kinks are none of your business firstly, and secondly he looked like he'd be a hot piece once he was in my bed." Sebastian huffed at Blaine.

Blaine's face was turning red at Sebastian's comments, and he snapped his fingers again, applying pressure to Sebastian until inch by inch he was down on his knees.

"You will NEVER speak that way about my fiance again. I expect to never see you again and if you come near him or cause him any grief I will make sure you are permanently crippled in some way," Blaine shouted at Sebastian, threateningly.

"My God, Pam never said this favor would be so much trouble for me."

"WHAT DID YOU SAY? Did my mother set you up for this?"

The sky suddenly got darker, jagged bolts of lightning flashed across the sky, one struck inches from Sebastian causing his hair to stand on end.

"MOTHER! I am calling you, please come to me now," Blaine demanded.

A huge crash of thunder boomed out and Pam was there in front of Blaine.

"Did you send this man to harass Kurt?"

"Darling, he wasn't supposed to harass him, I just wanted to make sure the man you loved would be true to you. I didn't mean for this mess to happen."

Kurt was shocked to see his recent client outside his door, "You're Blaine's mother? I had no idea. What did I do to you?"

"Listen boy, I'm not excited about my only son marrying a mortal, I wanted to make sure you were worthy of him. Sebastian is just a boy toy I was using to test you. Unfortunately, he thinks he's better than he really is."

Sebastian spluttered at her comments, indignant.

"SHUT UP, you!" Pam caused a gag to appear around his mouth. "You've caused me enough grief today. BEGONE!" Suddenly Sebastian disappeared, reappearing over a nearby lake and plummeting out of the sky into the water.

Pam turned to Blaine, "I had heard about your designer boyfriend, and when I went to meet him, I suddenly found out my son was engaged, and on top of that, that he didn't feel close to his family, and his father was disapproving."

"Mother, I doubt you are excited about my marrying a mortal," Blaine stated.

"Excited, no, of course not, but I'm not your father, your happiness means something to me. I really just wanted to make sure the mortal was worthy of you," Pam said a little tearfully.

"The mortal has a name, Kurt, and he will soon be your son-in-law. He makes me deliriously happy, can you allow me this happiness? I don't want to wake up and find you've killed my soon to be husband, or stranded him in time, or any other horrible things that you might imagine." Blaine said pleadingly to his mother.

"Alright, I can see he means a lot to you. I'll try my best to tolerate him for you," Pam said grudgingly.

"We are only having a small service, but would you like to come to the wedding, on your best behavior?" Blaine asked with a hint of a smile.

"If I'm available, I might want to stop by," Pam said teasingly. She leaned over and kissed Blaine on the cheek, then disappeared as the sudden storm disappeared and the sun was shining once again.

Kurt grabbed Blaine's hand, "Remind me to never get on your mother's bad side, or yours for that matter."

"She loves me, in her own way."

Scrap appeared right after that. "What did I miss? The magic energy around here is very dense."

Kurt wrapped his arms around Scrap and cuddled him close, "Thank you! You saved my life."

Scrap huffed, "I don't appreciate being cat-handled here kid, but, your welcome. I couldn't have anything happen to Blaine's favorite mortal."

"Favorite! I hope I'm the only mortal he's interested in," Kurt smirked.

Blaine smiled at them both, you are the ONLY mortal I'll ever be interested in, dear."

"Let's close the shop and talk, all 4 of us," Kurt said, shaking his head, it was going to be a crowded home for sure.

Brittany just talked about the power of love saving the day and didn't mention Blaine appearing in front of her suddenly.

Kurt locked up, and he experienced Blaine's magic fingers, ahem, in a different way as he snapped them all to their soon to be new home. He whipped up some comfortable chairs and they all relaxed.

"How are you feeling about everything," Blaine asked nervously.

Kurt looked at him for a moment, "I KNEW something was going on that night with the waitress and then, that umbrella out of nowhere, I just had no idea this was your secret. First question, did you do something to me, or did Scrap, to make me fall for you?"

"Oh Kurt, magic is powerful, but nothing can force you to fall in love with someone. That's all 100% real," Blaine explained, looking a bit dejected.

"Oh thank goodness, I didn't want all the fireworks and reactions to your touch to be anything but natural. Second question, I know you were shopping me around to people, did you force them to like my designs?"

"What? Of course not, all I did was want to help get your talent out there for people to discover. Of course, you probably realize now that they are all witches, but there are lots of fashionable ones, and all I did was show off your work and give them your business card. All the rest was you," Blaine gushed.

"Oh my…now I get why everyone seemed to just appear for fittings and meetings, I thought I was going crazy at one point."

"How is this going to work? I don't have any magic and I was brought up to work hard to succeed. I don't want you to magic me into an easy life, I like working and struggling."

"Some witches live completely with magic, I've never been one of them, I like to work and try to grow personally. I do love to use my fingers to get from place to place though, so the car and driving are new for me. Otherwise, I try to strike a balance with things. I don't want to give up my powers, but I'm more than happy to work with compromises and what you see our life together becoming. Fair warning, I've never been in a kitchen before," Blaine smiled and gave his best heart eyes to Kurt.

"Finally, I can just talk to you instead of thumping around in your dreams," Scrap snarked. "You had too many sex dreams for my tastes."

Kurt blushed crimson, "SCRAP! You don't have to tell everyone."

"They all involved Blaine, he may as well know about your kinky dreams," Scrap winked at Kurt.

"Oh my god, I'm just going to curl up and die here and now," Kurt said embarrassed to death.

"Kinky, huh?" Blaine eyed Kurt appreciatively.

"Ok, we are done with questions for the night!" Kurt exclaimed, blushing furiously.
