Chapter 22

It turns out that the place that Gurkinn wants Korina to go is actually our Flying Type Manor near the Grandpa Canyon. I say, "Are you sure this is the place that your grandfather wants you to come?"

"I think this is it." Korrina says while yelling, "Hello! I'm Korrina from Shalour City! My grandfather told me to come and see you!"

It is then my Dad comes out of the house and he asks, "Well look who's back."

"Hi, Dad. It's so nice to see you again." I say while giving him a hug.

After we enter the house, we find that it is not just him, Molly and Terry are also here. "How are you two doing?"

"We're doing fine, Big Bro." Molly says.

"Indeed, we've been doing some training with Dad." Terry says.

"That's great to know." I say.

My Dad says, "Gurkinn is a student of my mother Mabel, so that's why she wants you to find me."

Elline says, "All this time he's talking about Grandma Mabel...though we've never seen her before because she already passed away before we were even born..."

"So Uncle, will you be able to help Korrina?" David asks.

"First, I want you to demonstrate your strength. Ash, would you mind helping out?"

I nod as this time I battle Korrina with Mawile. Korrina Mega Evolves her Lucario, while I also do the same to Mawile. My Dad says, "Lucario has such a fine aura."

Korrina commands Lucario to use Power-Up Punch, but Mawile dodges. Lucario uses Bone Rush without Korrina's order, but Mawile dodges all of its attacks. Mawile uses Iron Head on Lucario. Lucario then loses its control due to its aura. Despite Korrina's urging, Lucario uses Power-Up Punch without any order. Mawile counters with Fairy Wind and Lucario faints.

"Lucario!" We rush to Lucario as Mawile also reverts back to normal. My Dad says, "I see... so that is the problem."

"Please, Mr. Ketchum. Can you help us?" Korrina asks.

My dad thinks before saying, "Did you guys remember Ringo and Reina from Celadon City? They have given us a lot of flowers. Maybe you can help out with the arrangements."

"Arrangements?" I slightly sigh, "Well, looks like you're expecting Scarlet to help you out. But you have to realize that Scarlet is not inside me now." But one look from my Dad says everything as I decide to help out, and the others also do the same.

"Uh, I'm sorry, but I think our time would be much better spent doing some training." Korrina says.

"There's no need to be hasty. And also, I like you to do it with your Pokemon partners." My Dad says. "Ash, why don't you show them first?"

I nod as I make a flower arrangement with my Pikachu, and after showing them, the others decide to do it. Serena's with Eevee, Clemont with Chespin, Bonnie with Dedenne, David with Bisharp, and Elline with Emolga. However, in the end, we notice that Korrina and Lucario have made two arrangements in one.

"From this arrangement, I can see that you have similar personalities and understand each other deeply." My Dad says after looking at Korrina's arrangement. "Well then, I'll look forward to impressive arrangments tomorrow, too."

"No way! What about all of our training?" Korrina asks.

"No need to be hasty. For now, I look forward to tomorrow." Then as the others are outside picking flowers, I ask my Dad, "Dad, why are you so into flower arrangements this time? I mean, I'm not complaining but may I ask the reason?"

My Dad says, "Your grandma Mabel really likes flower arrangements, and that's how she teaches others with the Mega Evolution. I'm sure you can see the flaw in Korrina's flower arrangements, right?"

I nod, "You're going to let them do the arrangements until their hearts finally become one, right? You notice how Lucario sometimes doesn't listen to Korrina's commands while battling on his own, right?"

"You're right about that. I'm really happy that you've grown so much, Ash." I groan as I sometimes don't like my Dad's teasing. Molly says, "That reminds me, Brother Ash. You know a girl named Yellow, right?"

"Yellow, it sure has been a long time since I see her, how's she doing?" I say.

Terry says, "She misses you, which is why she wants to give you these."

I notice a box and I open it, there are 10 badges inside that are shaped like the badges from Kalos. There is the Harmony Badge, which is shaped like a musical note with a serene, flowing pattern on the surface. The Skyward Badge takes the form of a pair of outstretched wings against a backdrop of clouds. The Venom Badge is a circular, toxic-looking emblem with a snake coiled around a vial of poison. The Terra Badge takes the form of an earthy, rugged shield with mountain peaks and fissures etched into its surface. The Ethereal Badge appears as a translucent, ghostly mask with eerie, haunting details. Ironclad Badge is shaped like a sturdy, metallic gear with intricate designs. The Inferno Badge is a blazing, flame-shaped emblem with fiery patterns. The Aqua Badge resembles a swirling water droplet with wave-like patterns. The Wyrm Badge takes the form of a stylized dragon's head, with intricate scales and sharp teeth. And the Nocturne Badge is shaped like a crescent moon with a shadowy, enigmatic aura.

"Yellow really likes to make badges for me, isn't she?" I say with a smile.

"It seems to me that she obviously likes you, but you already have three girlfriends, right?" Molly asks.

I blush a little and my Dad says, "If you want to make a harem, I won't mind about that, but be careful not to break a lady's heart."

"Dad..." I mutter while blushing red.

After several days, my Dad keeps asking Korrina to do some training, while I'm showing the others my Flying-type Pokemon. Everyone is really excited to see them having a flying race.

It is when one time Korrina and Lucario finally make the flower arrangement, and my Dad explains, "You're almost there. Soon, you'll both be able to control Lucario's aura during Mega Evolution."

"Control its aura? Arre you finally going to teach us how to do that?" Korrina asks.

"I've been teaching you all along." My dad says, "The reason why I asked you to look at the mountains together and make all those flower arrangements was because it was the most effective training for the two of you. What's most important to me is the way the two of you perceive things. You and Lucario are obviously very close. The two of you think and act alike. That's why Lucario uses moves without your command and makes its own decisions during battle. And both of you were alright with that. Trainers and their Pokemon are partners. While they may work together toward the same goals, their roles are quite different. You see, although you both may be looking at the same thing, perhaps you're viewing it differently. One heart, two viewpoints...you have to bring them together and transform that into strength. There's no doubt in my mind that the two of you can do that."

Korrina nods and my Dad decides to have me and Korrina battle again. This time I use Pikachu to battle Lucario. Lucario is out of control at first, but this time Korrina manages to calm him down, and Lucario also finally learns how to use Aura Sphere. The battle in the end is stopped by my Dad, and Korrina thanks him and promises that she'll work hard and improve.

After she leaves, we decide to continue staying as my Mom has come back. "Looks like I've missed something?"

"Hey, Mom!" We greet her and I say, "Well, you just missed the Shalour City Gym Leader, my Dad was training her to control Mega Lucario."

"I see." My Mom says as she looks at my Dad. "So the flower arrangements outside?"

"Right, as you can see, it takes them a lot of tries to finally reach that goal." My Dad replies back. "What do you think we should do with those arrangements?"

"Maybe I can send them to Ringo and Reina to see what they should do." Then she has Alakazam using Teleport. "I'm sure that since you're here, have you shown your friends the Sky Battles?"

"Not yet." I say while turning to the others, "You see, the reason why we set our Flying Manor around here is because of the Sky Battles."

Serena says, "Sky Battles are pretty fun. Do you guys want to try it?"

My Dad says, "We have a lot of wing suits in our changing room, however, Molly and Terry. Both of you are still too small to participate. If you're small, the wings also become small so it's dangerous."

"We know, Dad." Molly and Terry nod, and my Mom also turns to Bonnie, "And that applies to you, Bonnie."

"Come on! I want to do it! I want to do it!" Great, Bonnie acts the most immature out of three of them. Even Molly isn't doing that anymore...

"But Bonnie, rules are there for a reason." Clemont says.

"Don't worry! I'll sit with you and we can watch it together." Serena says.

"It's okay, you go have fun. Dedenne is going to be my watching buddy." And to make sure Bonnie isn't going to be bored, we also have our Pokemon to watch with her.

After we change our suits, we decide to let the others try out a device that stimulates the updrafts. The wind will be blowing from below so that we can jump into the wind to fly. Serena and I have been masters of them, David and Elline are doing a good job, but Clemont doesn't seem to have the motor skills.

"That's my brother..." Bonnie sighs.

"Now we have enough practice, how about we have some sky battles outside?" I ask, and my Mom asks, "If that's the case, how about battling my Talonflame? She's itching for a match with you."

"That sounds great, Mom." I say.

When we are outside of the Grandpa Canyon, we decide to fly in the air, and the one who wants to battle Talonflame is Fletchling, so we decide to use him to battle.

Battling my Mom is really hard for me, and now we're flying in the sky, Talonflame goes for the first move as it goes for Steel Wing, though Fletchling dodges it.

"Fletchling's fast. Use Peck!" My mom commands and Fletchling dodges because of its small size. Talonflame goes for Fire Blast, and Fletchling dodges before using Peck to hit Talonflame.

"Keep it up! You can do it!" Serena says.

"Great job. Keep giving it all you've got. That'll show them what you can do!" I say.

"Talonflame, Brave Bird!" My mom says, and Fletchling dodges. Talonflame chases after Fletchling until it gets into a corner. It goes for Steel Wing while Fletchling dodges by flying up.

"What do you know? That's the reason Fletchling flew down like that!" Elline says.

"It was pretending to be cornered!" Clemont says. "But that was just a lure, what a maneuver."

The others are cheering for Fletchling, while Talonflame goes for Brave Bird before Fire Blast. Fletchling tries to dodge with Double Team before going for Razor Wind, hitting Talonflame who hesitated.

"Playtime's over, starting now! Use Steel Wing!" My Mom commands as Fletchling is hit. My Mom says, "You're mistake is to let us know how Fletchling dodges. Let's finish this with Fire Blast!"

Fletchling is trapped in the fiery vortex, but it is then that Fletchling evolves into a Fletchinder, much to our delight.

Fletchinder: The Ember Pokemon: Fire and Flying Type. Evolve from Fletchling at LV:17. From its beak, it expels embers that set the tall grass on fire. Then it pounces on the bewildered prey that pops out of the grass.

With the new move Flame Charge, Fletchinder eventually defeats Talonflame and give me the win. My Mom says, "Well, you got me. Fletchinder was such a total surprise."

"Indeed." My Dad says, "And Fletchinder's performance really attracts a lot of your Flying Pokemon."

I can see that Pidgeot, Noctowl, Staraptor, Unfezant, Swanna, and some bird Pokemon are proud of Fletchinder, and after we change back our outfits, it is time for us to take a rest in the Flying Manor. My Dad also promises that if Bonnie gets taller, he'll be welcome to come here to practice with the sky training, much to her delight.

Here is a new chapter, and this is the end of Korrina's Mega Lucario training and also Fletchling's evolution. I hope you like it and the next chapter will be continuing exploring Route 11.
