A/n: Hi, I know that it hasn't been much since the last time I made an original chapter, but today it's been a year since I started to work in this series, so I felt that I needed to celebrate this somehow and here it is, an especial chapter
Without further ado, let's get started
A year in Berk
The things at Berk looked peaceful there wasn't a single sign of danger. However, the teens except for Blake were getting some stuff into the academy
"We've got everything? Food, drinks, everything?" Hiccup asked
"Yeah, that's all, we aren't missing a thing" Fishlegs said looking at a list
"Question, why are we getting all this stuff in here?" Snotlout asked
Hiccup rolled his eyes slightly annoyed "Today it has been a year since first arrived" he explained
"So, we're planning to make something special for him" Astrid continued
"Think of it as a surprise birthday party" Fishlegs said
"Wait, Blake doesn't have to know about this, right?" Tuffnut asked
"That's the point of a surprise" Fishlegs said
"If that's so…" Tuffnut said scratching his chin
"Who's distracting him?" Ruffnut asked, making the rest of the teens stop their job
Indeed, Ruffnut was right. No one was distracting Blake and that means he could enter the academy and ruin everything or he could start to get suspicious
"Oh Thor, how could have we forgotten that?!" Fishlegs said nervously
"It's okay, I'll distract Blake while you guys finish here" Hiccup said getting on Toothless' back but Astrid stopped him
"Actually, I think it's better if you're not the one who distracts him" she said "You're not the best liar, Hiccup"
"Besides, you know him better than any of us. We're definitely going to need you here" Fishlegs said
"Let us do it!" Tuffnut said as he and Ruffnut raised their hand
"We're experts in the art of distraction" Ruffnut said proudly but Hiccup didn't seem to like the idea
"Even if you manage to distract him, you can't do it for a long time or he'll get suspicious, we'll have to take turns to distract him" Hiccup said disappointing the twins "Astrid? Can you be the one who distracts Blake for now?"
"Leave it to me" Astrid said getting on Stormfly's back and flying off
"Alright, let's get finished" Hiccup said
Meanwhile with Blake, he was at the forge sharpening his dagger
When he finished, he looked at it and sighed "Even though this doesn't bring good memories back, it can be useful" he said before looking at Thunder who was laying next to him "What do you say, Thunder? should I get rid of this dagger even if it's just a replica of the one that Alvin gave me?"
Thunder only grunted as an answer making his rider smile "Or maybe I shouldn't think much about it"
Then, Astrid and Stormfly laned outside of the forge
"Astrid, can I help you?" Blake asked exiting the forge and Astrid got off her dragon's back
"Well, I was wondering if you're in the mood for a friendly combat" Astrid said
Blake thought for a moment before talking "Yeah, why not? Today is a really nice day and for some reason Hiccup cancelled today's training, so I've got a few hours to spend"
"Great, I'll see you at the cove" Astrid said walking away
"The cove? Wouldn't it be better to do it at the academy?" Blake asked but Astrid was too far away to listen "Well, I guess I could use the chance to practice my abilities before they get rusty
A few moments later Blake and Thunder landed at the cove, where Astrid and Stormfly were waiting
"Alright, are you ready?" Astrid asked preparing herself for the incoming combat
"Just give me a second" Blake said betting off Thunder's back before stretching his arms "It's been a while since I've done this"
Finally, when Blake got ready, he charged at Astrid without hesitation and tried to hit her, but she dodged it and tried to kick Blake back
"Hey, I hope you don't mind me for asking, but. Why were you walking towards the academy with a bunch of stuff?" Blake asked as he dodged Astrid's kick
"I haven't gone to the academy today" Astrid said as she made Blake fall with a sweep of her leg "You must have imagined it"
"Maybe you're right" Blake said as he got on his feet but Astrid grabbed his arm and twisted it back
Blake groaned in pain, before he could do anything, Astrid warped her arm around his neck
"Give up yet?" Astrid asked
Instead of answering, Blake elbowed her in the gut, stomped her foot and pushed her away
"That… was a good move" Astrid said as she took a deep breath "Where did you learn it?"
"Outcast Island, I guess those years of training didn't go to waste" Blake panted for the lack of air
They continued to fight for 15 minutes until they were both exhausted, it all depended on their last move
Both of them charged at each other ready to punch their opponent, but they both failed and fell to the ground
None of them say something for a couple of seconds, but then Blake rolled to be on his back and started to laugh
"Let's just call it a draw" he said as Astrid got up, then she walked towards Blake and help him up, but without warning she pushed him into the lake
"Looks like I win" Astrid said
"Alright, I'll admit it, that was good" Blake said as he got out of the water "I should've seen in coming, next time I'll get you"
"Ha, in your dreams" Astrid said
"Well, I'm going back to the village in order to dry myself off" Blake said as he got on Thunder's back "See you later"
Back at the academy, the teens have already placed a big table, some chairs and a cauldron where some food was cooking
"It starts to look nice" Fishlegs said
"Yeah, I could even mistake this for my own birthday" Snotlout said just before Astrid and Stormfly returned
"Well, Blake isn't going to come in for a while" Astrid said
"For how long?" Hiccup asked
"Hopefully long enough to everything to be ready" Astrid said
"We're still missing somethings, we need more time" Fishlegs said
"Fishlegs, can you distract Blake now?" Hiccup asked
"Sure, I'll distract him for as long as I can" Fishlegs said flying off in Meatlug
Back at the forge, Gobber looked like he was up to something when he saw Blake and Thunder arrived
"Uh… why are you all wet?" Gobber asked
"Well, I had a friendly combat with Astrid and she kind of threw me into a lake" Blake explained but then he seemed to smell something "What's that smell? Did you bake something?"
"I… uh… no" Gobber said nervously "I don't smell anything… are you feeling okay?"
"I'm starting to doubt it" Blake sighed "Apparently I imagined that Astrid was taking some stuff to the academy too"
"Yeah… you must've imagined it" Gobber chuckled
"Right…" Blake said not fully convinced "Well, I'm going to dry myself off"
Then, when Blake walked away, Fishlegs and Meatlug arrived
"Hey, Gobber. Have you seen Blake?" Fishlegs asked
"Actually, he just went to his room in order to dry himself off " Gobber said "Apparently Astrid pushed him into a lake, but I'm sure she did it to distract him"
"Well, that is definitely going to buy us some time" Fishlegs said "Have you finished baking the cake yet?"
"Yeah, it's ready" Gobber said "I've better take it to the academy before Blake finds out"
"Right, I'll stay here and try to distract him for a few more minutes" Fishlegs said before he and Gobber heard a grunt
They looked outside of the forge and realized that Thunder was looking at them confused
"Uh… should we do something about him?" Gobber asked
"It's okay, I don't think he'd like to ruin Blake's surprise" Fishlegs said only confusing Thunder even more
After a few minutes of waiting, Blake came out of his room completely dry
"Fishlegs? What are you doing here?" Blake asked
"I wanted to see if you and Thunder could help me with something" Fishlegs said
"With what do you need help?" Blake asked
"Well, as you know a Skrill has the ability to ride a lightning" Fishlegs said making Thunder look proud of himself "But we don't know much about it"
"Hold on" Blake interrupted "You want me to ride Thunder while he's riding a lightning?!"
"Yeah, that way we'll be able to learn more about it" Fishlegs said excitedly
"I don't know, even though I'd like to know more about that ability as you do, it doesn't fully convince me" Blake said rubbing the back of his head "But I guess it's worth to try"
"Perfect! We should start right away" Fishlegs said
"Right here and now?!" Blake asked
"The sooner the better" Fishlegs said
"But it's not even cloudy" Blake said looking at the sky and the few clouds "Are you still able to ride a lightning even it's not cloudy, Thunder?"
Thunder only nodded as an answer but he didn't look convinced either
"Don't worry, Thunder. I'm sure it'll be fine" Blake said before looking at Fishlegs "So, how are going to do this exactly?"
"Easy, just make Thunder ride a lightning to the forest where Meatlug and I will be waiting for you" Fishlegs explained before flying away with Meatlug
"I guess we'll have to wait here" Blake sighed
After 5 minutes of waiting, Blake got on Thunder's back ready to ride a lightning with him
"Alright, we've waited long enough" Blake said getting on Thunder's back "Lightning ride!"
Meanwhile at the forest, Fishlegs and Meatlug were waiting for Blake and Thunder in the forest
"That's weird, they should've been here by now" Fishlegs said just before a lightning fell not too far away from him, so he closed his eyes
When he opened them, he saw Blake and Thunder standing where the lightning fell
"Blake!" Fishlegs said running towards them "Tell me, how was it?! What did you see up there?!"
Instead of answering, Blake only looked at his surroundings really confused "Blake? Are you okay?" Fishlegs asked worriedly
"Yeah… I just… need to… lay down" Blake said before falling from Thunder's back and fainting
Thunder looked worriedly at his rider before looking and growl angrily at Fishlegs
"What? How was I supposed to know that this would happen" he protested
One minute later, Blake slowly started to woke of feeling a bit dizzy
"W-what happened?" he asked
"You fainted after you and Thunder rode a lightning" Fishlegs explained "What happened up there?"
"I don't know" Blake said getting up "All I can remember is being outside of the forge on Thunder's back and then I… just appeared here feeling woozy and disoriented"
"Maybe we should go back" Fishlegs suggested
"I couldn't agree more, I really need to lay down" Blake said as he and Fishlegs got on their dragons' back and flew away
Back at the academy, everything was ready for Blake's party
"Alright, it's all ready" Gobber said
"Now we only need to get Blake" Hiccup said just before Fishlegs and Meatlug returned
"Fishlegs, where's Blake?" Astrid asked
"Well… I made him ride a lightning with Thunder to see if we could get to know how does a Skrill's ability to ride a lightning works, but it got a little out of hand and now he's in his room" Fishlegs explained nervously
"I'll bring him here" Hiccup sighed as he got on Toothless' back
Meanwhile with Blake, he was on his bed trying to get some sleep until someone knocked the door
"Blake, it's me, Hiccup. Can I come in?" Hiccup asked
"Yeah… sure… why not?" Blake said as Hiccup opened the door
"Wow, you don't look so good, what happened?" Hiccup asked pretending to be surprised
"It's… a long story, I don't really have the energy to tell it" Blake said
"Do you still have energy to go to the academy?" Hiccup asked
"Uh… but you canceled today's training, did I miss something?" Blake asked as he sat on his bed confused
"Not really" Hiccup asked
"Alright, I'll go, but can we walk, please?" Blake asked standing up "I think I've got enough flying for today"
Moments later, Hiccup and Blake were arriving at the academy, but they stopped before entering
"Okay, before entering I need you to close your eye" Hiccup said
Blake nodded and closed his left eye
"Close both of your eyes then" Hiccup sighed
"Okay, okay, you got me" Blake chuckled as he closed his right eye
Then Hiccup leaded Blake inside the academy "Okay, open your eyes" Hiccup said
Blake did as he was told and the first thing that he saw, was the other teens, the dragons and Gobber
"Happy Birthday!" they yelled
"Uh… guys… today it's not my birthday… or is it?" Blake asked
"Wait, you don't remember your own birthday?" Tuffnut asked
"It's weird but… even though I've already got a flashback about my birthday… I don't remember the exact day" Blake said rubbing the back of his head ashamed "Why did you do this if you don't now when my birthday is"
"We did this to celebrate your first year in Berk" Hiccup said placing a hand on Blake's shoulder
"Wait, it has already been a year since I arrived?!" Blake asked in shock
"Yeah, that's why we've been planning this for a while" Astrid said
"You never saw it coming, did you?" Ruffnut asked
"Oh… I already knew you were planning something" Blake said
"Really?" Snotlout asked
"Yeah, I kind of saw it coming when you tried to keep me away from here and when I smelled something back at the forge" Blake said "But I still didn't know what it was, so it was still a nice surprise"
Then, they noticed that Gobber had some tears in his eyes
"Gobber, are you crying?" Fishlegs asked
"Just a bit" Gobber said cleaning his tears before looking at Blake "It's just that I can believe it has been a year since I adopted you"
"I can't believe it either to be honest" Blake sighed "You know what? Who cares if it's my birthday or not, let's enjoy this party. Besides. If it has been a year since I arrived, I should've turned fifteen by now"
They all stayed in the academy until evening eating, talking with each other and in general having a good time
"Uh… guys?" Blake called "Before we end… I wanted to say thanks for everything… a lot has happened this year, but I wouldn't change this for anything"
