It took some time, but chapter 4 of Wolf is finally here.
So please enjoy chapter 4.
Chapter 4
"Elsa? Elsa!"
Elsa almost jumped in her seat at the voice of Anna calling her name.
"Ye…Yes?" she asked.
"Where was your head right now? She asked a bit amused.
"My head?" Elsa asked confused.
"Yes, your head. You were a million miles away right now." Anna looked at her.
"Oh, sorry Anna. Yes, I guess I was a bit lost in thoughts." Elsa said.
"I could tell. You've barely even touched your lunch." She pointed out and Elsa look down at her plate.
"Did you hear what I just told you?" Anna asked.
"Sorry…" Elsa repeated.
"Are you ok?" She asked a bit worried.
"Yes, I'm fine. I was just thinking a bit.
"Hmh, what's on your mind? A penny for your thoughts?" Anna said.
"I was just thinking about what Mattias suggested for me, earlier this morning." Elsa explained.
"What did he suggest?" Anna took a sip of her drink.
"He suggested that I get a personal bodyguard. He even had one of the new recruits picked out as a possible candidate." Elsa leaned back in her dining room chair.
"What do you think about that?" She asked.
Anna thought for a few seconds.
"You know what, It's actually not a bad idea. Yes, you have your magic, but a little extra help could be useful." She said.
Elsa nodded. If Anna thought it was a good idea, she would agree to it.
"So, does Mattias have anyone in mind for this important task?" Anna asked.
Elsa nodded as she put her glass down on the table.
"Yes, in fact he does. A young man who's newly recruited to the castle guards."
"A new recruit?" Anna asked as she suddenly looked at bit worried.
"Elsa, are you sure it's a good idea to have a new recruit be your personal guard?" She asked.
"I am sure. I went to meet him myself right before lunch. I saw what he can do and I was impressed."
"Oh, you've already met him? What's he like?" Anna asked as she set her glass of water down on the table.
"Well, he has jet black hair, strong cheek bones, and he seem calm and collected. He seems like the more quiet and reserved type. He also has navy blue eyes and I also couldn't help but notice that he has a scar across his left eye." Elsa said as she described you, deliberately leaving out that she felt like she knew you from before.
Anna smiled a bit.
"Sounds found the perfect person for the job."
Elsa nodded in agreement.
"Yes, I think so too."
About a week after Mattias suggested to Elsa that she get a personal bodyguard, it was time for the graduation ceremony and for the new recruits to officially join the Royal guards. They were all gathered in the Great Hall as Elsa and Anna oversaw the ceremony. After everyone had gotten their official diploma and uniform, Mattias stepped forward.
"Everyone. Congratulations to all of you for making it this far, and welcome to the Royal guards. You have now been given the honour of protecting the royal family, a task only given to those who prove themselves worthy. And you have, and that's why you've been chosen. Now, I would like to introduce Her Majesty Queen Elsa herself.
Then he stepped aside and Elsa stepped forward.
"Welcome to the Royal guards everyone, and congratulations to you all. Thank you all so much for working so hard to get to your positions. Captain Mattias has spoken only good words about you, and he and the other senior guards are proud of what you have achieved. I can now rest assured that my family and I are safe in your hands."
She took a deep breath.
"However, there is one in particular that he has spoken very highly of, and because of this he suggested something important to me. After much consideration, I agree with what he suggested and agree with his recommendation for this posting. Would (F/N) please step forward."
You could feel everyone's eyes on you as you stepped forward. You walked over to her and ceremoniously saluted her.
"Your Majesty." You said.
"Mattias spoke highly of you and has praised your skills. With his personal suggestion, and much consideration, I have decided to grant you the position to be my very own personal guard."
Elsa's words made the new guards erupt into cheers and applause, everyone congratulating you. You however felt uneasy and Elsa quickly noticed, from the look on your face.
"(F/N), are you all right?" She asked a bit concerned.
You looked at her and after a few seconds spoke up.
"...Permission to speak to you in private, Your Majesty?"
Elsa, a bit surprised at your request at first, nodded.
"Permission granted. Let us finish up the ceremony, then we can talk privately. Meet me in my study." She instructed in a low voice so no one would hear.
But you looked at her and whispered.
"I'm sorry your, Majesty, but we should do this now." You whispered back.
Elsa glanced at Anna who looked a bit confused herself.
"Very well. I will grant you your request." She said as she looked at Mattias.
"Captain, will you take over for a moment?" She asked.
He nodded.
"Yes of course Your Majesty."
Elsa then led you to a quiet corner of the Great Hall.
"What's wrong, (FN/)? Are you not happy with your new position?" She asked a bit concerned.
You were surprised by her question.
"Oh no, Your Majesty, it's not that." You said a bit alarmed.
"It's just..." You hesitated before you continued.
"...I have to make a request before I accept this job." You said.
"So please hear me out."
Elsa smiled a bit.
"Although it is a bit unusual, I will hear what your request is." She agreed.
"Once a month I'll...need a day off." You said calmly.
Elsa sighed a bit in relief. She had expected a much more serious request, but this actually seemed quite simple.
"I can possibly give you more time off if you ne…-" she began, but you held your held up, causing her to stop herself mid-sentence.
"No Your Majesty. Just one day off a month. To be honest, I only need half a day off. Other than that, I can stay by your side as much as you wish."
Your request was odd, but if this was the only thing you requested, then Elsa saw no reason to object to it.
"Very well. You may have half a day off once a month. But pardon me for asking, but may I know why?" She asked.
You again hesitated before you answered.
"...Its...a personal matter." You said.
Elsa could see that the topic made you a bit uncomfortable and decided to leave it at that.
"I see. Then, you have half a day off, once a month." She said.
You smiled a bit.
"Thank you. I'll let you know when I'll need to use it."
Elsa nodded and smiled.
"We should head back to the others. As my new guard, will you please stay by my side?"
You nodded.
"Your Majesty." You said before you escorted her back to the others.
Elsa looked back at the new guards.
"I'm sorry, everyone, but my new guard, (F/N) had some private matters to discuss with me. With this, I want to say that we all have faith in you, and I wish you all good luck in your new positions." She said.
Then you stepped forward.
"Your Majesty." You said.
Everyone's eyes were on you as you drew your sword and knelt before Elsa, your sword resting in your left hand at your left side.
"My name is (Y/N) and I hereby accept the position to be your personal guard. Wherever you go, I will follow and be by your side. Should you ever need me to do or get you anything, if I can, I will. And if it should ever come to it, be it in life or even death I can save your life...I will."
As the murmur could be heard from the crowd, this act of chivalry made Elsa blush a bit. Nobody had ever made a pledge like that to her before.
She smiled.
"Thank you, (F/N). I'll put my trust in you. Mine and my family's lives are in your hands." She said and you nodded as you bowed your head.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Then Mattias stepped forward.
"Now go rest. Tomorrow you start your new positions. Dismissed!" He said, ending the graduation ceremony.
Anna came up to Elsa.
"So, what did (F/N) want to talk about?" She asked, as the curious young woman she was.
Elsa thought for a few seconds.
"Just...a personal request." She managed to answer before you came up to them.
"All right then. Now, if you don't need me for anything, I'll go see Kristoff, Sven and Olaf now. Do you mind?" Anna asked, and Elsa just smiled.
"Go ahead. You're off the hook for now."
Anna smiled.
"Great. I'm off then. See you at dinner!" She said as she ran off.
Elsa looked at you.
"I'll go to my study now. Mind escorting me?" She said.
You nodded.
"After you, Your Majesty." You said as you motioned for her to lead the way.
As you left to escort Elsa out of the Great Hall, you suddenly spotted Liz among the crowd of people and she had a worried look in her face.
As you walked past her where she was standing by the door. You sighed before you whispered to her.
"Don't worry. I can handle this."
She nodded.
"I believe you. Just...be careful." She whispered back.
You gave a slight nod back.
"...I know."
That is chapter 4!
For the scene where he pledges his loyalty to Queen Elsa, I pictured Oscar from The Rose of Versailles, as she kneels before Queen Marie Antoinette (I will post the picture on this chapter on my Wattpad).
With that said, I look forward to post chapter 5, and I will see you all then. Take care everyone!
