Music Playing: "Lingering Heat" by Ho-Yo Mix
"Hungry!" I remember Ryuuko telling me, as best as she could say the word. Thinking about it, I don't really remember her speaking full sentences but she could say that word. We hadn't eaten in roughly three days and I was really feeling it but Ryuuko was my priority, so I had to find her something. We wandered a bit more before we came across a restaurant. The shop had just opened for the day and the owner was setting out breadsticks. The decision was split second and I had only time to snatch one before she caught me. I got back to Ryuuko quickly, which is where the woman decided to stop pursuing and just go back to her restaurant.
My own gut was churning and making sounds but I opted to ignore them for Ryuuko's sake. I was bigger than she was, so she needed food more because her energy would run out quicker than mine. For a spell, it felt like my lungs had temporarily shrunk and I couldn't take in air as much, as I was winded once I got back to Ryuuko. I was coughing and I just needed rest but I knew we couldn't linger there for long because, for all I knew, the owner would get retribution. We did get away from the restaurant but not before I managed to secretly snag a few of those breadsticks. I don't think I ate any of them but Ryuuko's belly was mostly full. I was coughing again and more exhausted, while Ryuuko remained innocent in all of it. For what it was worth, Ryuuko seemed to like the breadsticks but, between my coughing and worries about her, I could only try to remember what food tasted like at that point.
From afar, I still watch her eat the breadsticks, seemingly remembering their taste, while I could only try to imagine what they taste like. I could taste nothing. No, I could only taste the dryness of my coughs and cold air of an approaching season.
Notes: Yeah, I couldn't really decide on a song but "Lingering Heat" by Ho-Yo Mix sounded best. —Amoridere.
