A few days had passed since Kaiba had revealed the World Racing Grand Prix to some of the participants of his Battle City Tournament along with the students of Duel Academy and he was currently on the phone talking with someone as Mokuba walked into the room.
"You have got to be joking, I am not working with Wheeler!" Kaiba snapped at the person on the phone only to frown as whoever he was talking to responded. "A monkey could duel circles around… you're really adamant about this aren't you?"
Mokuba couldn't help but grin slightly at his older brother's reaction. "Come on Seto, you know Joey's not that bad… remember Obelisk the Time God?"
Kaiba turned to Mokuba at that only to sigh. "Fine you win Yugi I'll work with Wheeler for this tournament… but only because I have to."
Hanging up he turned to Mokuba only to notice a folder. "What's this?"
"The first few teams, they're not all great but there are some interesting ones." Mokuba answered. "I thought you might want to take a look."
Kaiba frowned but opened the folder seeing the teams that were planning on competing. "Seven teams so far, well there's still time before we head to this New Domino City to compete and we need to make sure everyone's able to ride at the very least… wait, what's this? One of Marik's Rare Hunters is planning on competing with his Exodia Deck? And from the look of things, he's working with two other automatic victory strategies… that might be a small challenge."
Mokuba frowned. "Didn't he use fake cards though? Are we sure he won't try and cheat again?"
"I'll make sure his deck is legitimate." Kaiba pointed out before closing the folder. "Still, I'm expecting several other teams will want to compete, not that it matters… Yugi and I will be enough to defeat any of these amateurs without much difficulty."
"What about those dragons that Yusei and Jack have? The ones from when they were brainwashed by Marik?" Mokuba pointed out only to frown. "They were pretty tough and if they're working together as a team…"
"They're good, I won't deny that… but Yugi and I defeated them before and while he's an amateur and a fourth-rate duelist Wheeler has some halfway decent cards which might be somewhat useful."
"Right Seto." Mokuba grinned at that only to pause. "Oh… actually, do you mind if I ask you something?"
Kaiba raised an eyebrow at that looking at his younger brother. "What is it Mokuba?"
"Well… I've been practicing, and I might try and enter the tournament too." Mokuba admitted taking out a deck. "I know I'm not at your level yet, but I think I can hold my own in the tournament."
Kaiba raised an eyebrow hearing that before smiling. "You think you can hold your own? Then by all means Mokuba, you're more than welcome to compete. Just don't expect me to hold back even against you."
Mokuba couldn't help but grin. "I know Seto. I have some teammates in mind too."
Kaiba only smiled at that before turning to his computer where he was looking over footage of the Battle City Tournament again, and specifically the duels during the finals.

"You've got to be joking Yuge, why are we working with Kaiba?" Joey argued. "I mean… there has to be a better third member of our team than rich boy."
Yugi only sighed as he listened to Joey argue about working with Kaiba in the World Racing Grand Prix they'd only recently learned about. To be honest Yugi didn't entirely disagree… Joey and Kaiba did not get along and that might hinder their teamwork, then again, they were also two of the best duelists he knew so he knew they would both be great teammates.
"I get how you feel Joey, but this is a team-based tournament and we both know Kaiba's a really great duelist." Yugi pointed out. "Besides, you already did work with Kaiba during Battle City remember?"
Joey flinched at that before sighing. "That's different Yugi, I mean… yeah Kaiba and I did work together but it's not like we had a choice… and I mean, there must be somebody else the two of us can team up with. How about Marik?"
"That won't work, he's planning on teaming up with Ishizu and Odion remember?" Yugi pointed out. "And besides you and Kaiba need to start getting along, remember how our friendship started?"
Joey sighed hearing that realizing he was beaten before reluctantly nodding. "Alright, alright… I get it. I'll try and work with Kaiba for the tournament."
Yugi smiled at that before turning back to a pile of cards. "Well, now that we've settled that we should think of ways to combo with Kaiba's cards too."
"Yeah, you're right." Joey agreed with a smile starting to look at his own cards.

At the same time at Duel Academy Alexis was talking with Jaden about the upcoming tournament and their ideas for teams.
"Huh, you and Syrus are planning on working with Chazz instead of Jesse?" Alexis inquired curiously only to smile. "That's an interesting team."
"I thought about asking Jesse but he said he had his own team idea in mind." Jaden smiled before shrugging. "What about you Lex? Do you have a team in mind for the competition?"
Alexis smiled hearing that. "Yeah, I'm going to work with Atticus and Yusuke, though I'm going to have to figure out how my Ritual Monsters can be used in the tournament."
Jaden frowned hearing that recalling the rules they heard about the tournament. "Oh yeah, if you use normal spell cards instead of those Speed Spells you take 2000 points of damage, unless they change the rules for us."
"I'll figure out something." Alexis admitted before shrugging. "Still, finding a way to use my Machine Angels would definitely help a lot."
"Maybe Seto Kaiba can figure out something?" Jaden suggested with a smile. "Either way it's going to be a great tournament."
Alexis couldn't help but smile back at that as she closed her eyes in thought.

"What the, how are you here?" Jack questioned in shock seeing Seto Kaiba in Lazar's office with his arms crossed.
"That's simple, I spent quite a bit of time working on a way to travel through time like you did to compete in my Battle City tournament." Kaiba answered calmly as he looked Jack in the eye. "In fact, a fair number of duelists from my time will be participating in your upcoming tournament. That's why I came to talk with him."
Yusei's eyes widened in shock. "You're having duelists from the past participate in the World Racing Grand Prix? That might complicate things."
"It could, but then again I somehow doubt you all would turn down this kind of challenge." Seto smirked before he turned to Lazar with a frown. "Now as I was saying, as it stands, there are a few duelists interested in competing that are completely unable to duel thanks to a few of the rules for the tournament."
"What do you mean, I was under the impression that you explained the rules and anyone who wanted to compete would arrive shortly before the competition to get used to New Domino City." Lazar recalled only to frown. "If some duelists aren't able to understand the rules, then…"
"It isn't a matter of misunderstanding the rules of this tournament, the issue comes in how it hinders Ritual Summoning and Fusion Summoning." Kaiba interjected causing Lazar to shudder. "Your tournament severely limits both types of summoning, and while Fusion does have a single card that can help with your Speed Fusion Speed Spell, Ritual Summoning has no such benefit."
"Ritual, who in their right mind would enter the WRGP and try and play Ritual Cards? Nothing against them but they're not exactly a good fit for the competition." Crow pointed out before frowning. "I mean… how would you even include Ritual Spells anyway?"
"There are two simple answers, and neither one would require you to change the rules of the World Racing Grand Prix." Kaiba replied calmly. "The first option, is to simply create Ritual Speed Spell cards, Three Counters seems fair if we also consider the tributes would still be necessary."
"That could work, but with the huge number of Ritual Spells that exist it might take a while." Yusei pointed out hearing that. "Then again, I guess time isn't really an issue if you can just travel through time in the first place."
Kaiba smirked before closing his eyes. "The other option is much simpler, a universal trap to summon any Ritual Monster. Trap cards aren't limited by the rules and so could be used in place of Ritual Spell Cards."
"Well, I think we could look into Ritual Speed Spells though that could take a while." Lazar admitted only to pause. "Though, if you don't mind me bringing it up why are you focusing on Ritual and Fusion Summoning all of a sudden?"
"That's simple, anyone from my time won't be using Synchro Summoning in this tournament… just consider it a challenge for us." Kaiba answered smirking as he turned to Yusei and Jack. "A Fusion Monster defeated you before after all."
Jack frowned at that recalling how he and Yusei had been brainwashed before smirking. "Fine, that should be an interesting challenge. We'll make sure you have whatever Ritual Spells you need for the tournament, just don't be surprised when you hear that the winners are Team 5Ds again."
Kaiba returned Jack's smirk. "We'll have to wait and see then, won't we?"
With that he walked off as Yusei, Jack, and Crow turned to Lazar.
"This is going to be a much more complicated tournament than the last one, isn't it?" Crow inquired with a sigh before grinning. "Oh well, it sounds like it'll be a real blast."

"I'm not so sure about this." a girl in the Obelisk Blue uniform admitted. "I mean, we all use water decks but is that enough to form a team?"
"I believe so, our decks complement each other, and we'll drag our enemies down to the watery depths." a man holding a spear as he looked at the water pointed out before throwing it revealing he had speared a fish. "Besides, the power of the ocean connects us."
"He has a point." A man in a captain's uniform agreed causing the girl to sigh.
"I know we all play water decks, but some of the other teams are really strong, plus we've never even tried working together." the girl in the Obelisk Blue uniform admitted. "And on top of that we'll have to work without any of our field spell cards."
"Maybe, but we have the new trap card that works like Umi so that'll help us a little." the man with the spear pointed out as he started a fire to cook the fish before picking up a second spear.
The girl looked at him before sighing. "Well, I hope you're right about that."

"Huh, duelists from the past are going to be coming to compete?" Angel asked curiously hearing that. "Are you guys sure?"
"We're sure, Seto Kaiba himself was in Lazar's office which means we'll have a lot more competition this time around." Jack answered as he took a sip of coffee. "Not to mention any new teams from our time that could decide to compete."
"That's true, of course don't forget that Team 5ds is splitting in two this time around." Sky smiled. "Angel, Leo, Luna, and I are going to be the ones who win the WRGP."
"We'll see, we aren't planning on making it easy for even you four to beat us." Crow mentioned with a smile. "May the best duelists win."
(A few of the teams for the WRGP are being formed and Yusei and the others have learned that duelists form the past will be joining the tournament. Next chapter, a few of the teams will start having some practice matches to prepare. As always any reviews or critique is appreciated.)
