SmackDown: 31/8/2000
SmackDown was live at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After four days away from World Wrestling Federation programming, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley made her return as SmackDown kicked off. Stephanie thanked the crowd for their concern as to her whereabouts, and for the record, she said that she was at Shane's bedside as the "Boy Wonder" convalesced in a medical facility after SummerSlam. She added that she and Triple H were again in wedded bliss, and that the Game would arrive to the building shortly. That brought out Kurt Angle, who said he admired Stephanie for putting on such a brave face after the way Triple H "mandhandled" her at SummerSlam. He showed the replay of Triple H slugging Stephanie, and he tried to convince her that it wasn't an accident. He then showed the replay of Triple H and Chyna hugging on Monday's RAW – footage that Stephanie hadn't seen! Mrs. Game was irate.
Chyna then came to the stage and tried to tell Stephanie that Kurt was just manipulating her. Angle turned it around on the Ninth Wonder of the World, however, saying that Chyna attended to Triple H instead of Eddie Guerrero when Angle hit them both with chairs Monday night, again trying to show Stephanie that Chyna was trying to steal her man. Chyna then said she would shove Angle's Olympic medals down his throat!
The Ninth Wonder of the World entered in the ring, and immediately, Stephanie got up in her face.
Angle, who just seconds earlier said he would only hit Chyna in self-defense, snuck up from behind and executed the Olympic slam on Chyna! Eddie Guerrero came down to save his Mamacita as Stephanie and Angle scampered away. Moments after the segment ended, Triple H arrived at the arena. He walked into his locker room to find Stephanie and Kurt. Kurt snuck out, and then Stephanie slapped her husband, asking why he didn't tell her about his conversation with Chyna. Triple H then left and said he'd come back when he had cooled down.
In a one-on-one match-up, the Road Dogg reversed a bicycle kick into a pump-handle slam, allowing him to pin Bull Buchanan.
An incensed Chyna and Eddie Guerrero went to Commissioner Mick Foley's office, and Mamacita demanded a match against Kurt Angle. But the commish refused, instead putting Angle in a Triple Threat Match against both Eddie Guerrero and Triple H.
The Hardy Boyz and Lita promised to leave their home state of North Carolina as victors prior to their six-person tag team match against Edge, Christian and Jacqueline. Indeed, after a Swanton Bomb, Jeff pinned Christian for the win!
Kurt Angle then approached Stephanie, hoping to clear up some confusion. He said that their kiss on last week's SmackDown was just what good friends do, and that's what they are – good friends. Stephanie said OK, but she just needed space, and Kurt said he'd be there for her.
Next up, Al Snow made Perry Saturn tap out to a dragon sleeper to become the new European Champion!
The Game returned to his locker room for a little chat with his wife. He admitted that he should have told her about his conversation with Chyna, and that he was wrong. Stephanie said that it was OK, and that she was just disconcerted because he and Chyna had a relationship in the past. But when Stephanie went to kiss him, Triple H pulled away, saying that Stephanie could get upset about him and Chyna, but that she and Kurt didn't have a past relationship, so what's up with their recent trysts? Stephanie said, again, that she and Kurt were just friends. But Triple H soon grew enraged, even throwing furniture around the locker room as Stephanie screamed at him to stop.
In an interview with Kevin Kelly, Al Snow said that he wanted to restore prestige to the European Title – for all the people of Europa!
Next up, it's the Bladewolf vs the Undertaker in a WWF Championship #1 Contender's match.
In the arena, the Undertaker's theme hits to a pop from the crowd of Fayetteville, North Carolina before the American Badass himself drives out onto the stage on his motorcycle.
"Tonight, the Undertaker, after he cost the Bladewolf the World Wrestling Federation title on RAW Monday night, has a shot to become #1 Contender for the Rock's WWF Championship!" Cole said as the Undertaker drives down the ramp and begins circling the ring.
"This is really big, Michael. This is huge!" Jerry said. "Like I said, this could be a PPV main event. The Undertaker against the Bladewolf, one-on-one, to determine who is the #1 Contender."
"The Undertaker, fresh off an emotional war with his brothers Kane and the Bladewolf at SummerSLam, now faces his youngest brother tonight after costing him the WWF Title." Cole said.
The Undertaker gets off his motorcycle and enters the ring, raises his arms to the crowd who copy the gesture. Soon, the Undertaker';s theme dies down as he waits the arrival of his little brother.
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
'Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah! Get up, come on get down with the sickness!'
Down with the Sickness by Disturbed hits and out comes the Bladewolf with Trish Stratus at his side, earning a mixed reaction from the fans. The couple start making their way down to the ring.
"The following contest will determine the #1 Contendership for World Wrestling Federation Championship. And the only way to become the #1 Contender is by pinfall or submission!" Tony Chimel announced. "Making his way to the ring, being accompanied by Trish Stratus. From Death Valley, weighing 310 lbs... THE BLADEWOLF!"
"Look at the intensity and rage coming off the Demon Wolf." Cole noted, seeing how angry the Bladewolf was as he takes his coat off halfway down the ramp, throwing it aside. "The Bladewolf is incensed after what happened on RAW-and here we go!"
The Bladewolf, wasting little time, slides into the ring and quicly starts slugging it out with his brother while the referee calls for the bell to begin the match.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Bladewolf and Undertaker exchanged right hands with each oither before Bladewolf began to overpower his big brother, driving him back into the corner where he continues to unload, throwing in somke lefts, forcing the Undertaker to cover up. The referee gets involved and tries breaking it up, but it scared back by the Bladewolf when he whirls on him.
"I tell you, King, the Bladewolf believes he should be the WWF Champion today." Cole said. "On RAW, he came close to winning it had it not been for the Undertaker. The Bladewolf has been the WWF Champion two times in his career, and he would love nothing more than to win it for a third time."
"Yeah, everyone believes they should be the Champion today, it's how things go around here." Jerry said dismissively. "But the Bladewolf has a shot to reach his third title if he wins tonight."
Bladewolf runs at his brother, only to he caught with an elbow to the face, making the Bladewolf stumble back before he turns into a clothesline from the Undertaker, who then brings an elbow down across the chest of his younger brother before covering him.
"The cover!" Cole said.
"One!"
"Two-!"
Bladewolf kicks out at two.
"Bladewolf kicks out at two." Cole said. "This will be a heck of a match, King. These two brothers know each other so well. They know how the other thinks."
"Of course they do, they're brothers!" Jerry pointed out. "But when these two fight, or if Kane's involved, I'd rather be far from the action than anywhere near it. Those three monsters will destroy anything in their way to get at each other."
Undertaker pulls the Bladewolf to his feet, brings him to the corner where he rams his head off the turnbuckle. Undertaker then lands a right uppercut to the chin of the Bladewolf, making him lean on the ropes before Undertaker forces him back into the corner and lands another big right hand, then proceeds to land a headbutt. The Deadman then irish whips his brother, who reverses it and sends Undertaker into the opposite corner hard to make the Undertaker bounce off and the Deadman attempts to floor his brother with a clothesline.
However, Bladewolf counters it and wrenches the arm before sweeping the Undertaker's legs out from under him, then brings his leg down across the arm he's wrenching.
"Bladewolf, catching a clothesline attempt there by his brother." Cole noted. "Like you said, King, these two are brothers, they know each other well. They know how the other one thinks."
"Right." Jerry nodded.
Undertaker tries fighting back as Bladewolf continues to wrench the arm, before the Demon Wolf releases his brother only to deliver a boot to the face of his older brother, taking him back down. Bladewolf then stomps away on his brother repeatedly before grabbing him by the hair, rears back and lands a big bright hand to the Deadman's skull.
"What a right hand." Cole winced. "Bladewolf, no doubt angry still after being cost the title on RAW thanks to his brother."
"Of course he's still going too be angry, Michael." Jerry said, rolling his eyes.
Bladewolf flips his hair back and grabs his brother, pulling him to his feet before Irish whipping him into the corner, runs only to be met with a big boot that sent Bladewolf to a knee briefly before he stumbled back to his feet and turns into a right hand from his brother, then a left, then a right. Bladewolf stumbles into the ropes and comes off them, Undertaker goes for a big boot but Bladewolf caught it and drives his fist into the Undertaker's thigh, then swipes his other leg from under him before he starts wrenching ba hold on the Undertaker's leg.
"Bladewolf, now targeting the legs of his older brother." Cole said. Bladewolf brings a knee down on the leg repeatedly. "This is smart of him. You take out the legs, you take out the power of the Deadman. And don't forget, the Undertaker's knee was attacked by Shane McMahon a few weeks ago with a cinderblock."
Bladewolf brings his elbow down across the leg, causing Undertaker to yell in pain. Bladewolf gets to his feet, walks around to his brother's head then jumps up and comes back down with a leg drop across the throat of the American Badass.
"Nice leg drop." Jerry said.
Bladewolf covers his brother.
"One!"
"Two!"
"Thr-!"
Undertaker kicks out at two.
"The Undertaker kicks out." Cole said.
Bladewolf gets onto his knees and starts pounding away on his brother with right hands to the forehead. Eventually, he stops and gets to his feet, briefly adjusting his elbow pads and ring attire straps. He eyes his brother, waiting for him to get to his feet before he rushes forward for a big boot but Undertaker ducks... AND BLADEWOLF GETS CAUGHT ON THE ROPES!
"Oh!" Jerry winced.
"Bladewolf caught on the ropes!" Cole said.
Undertaker takes advantage as he clotheslines his brother, then starts stomping away on him repeatedly. Undertaker backs off and paces around, watching his brother pulling himself to his feet and he turns... INTO A GOOZLE!
"Oh my!" Cole shouted.
"Oh no!" Jerry said.
"Undertaker, looking to Chokeslam his..." Cole trailed off when he saw someone running down the ramp. "It's Kane! Kane!"
"Kane!" Jerry shouted.
Kane slides into the ring and clobbers the Undertaker from behind, making him drop Bladewolf while the referee called for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Kane attacks his brother viciously, getting him in the corner where he hammers away on him. Bladewolf pushes himself on the ropes and storms over, grabbing Kane and whirls him around.
"Look at this!" Jerry said.
"Bladewolf, arguing with Kane." Cole said as Bladewolf shouts at Kane, who gestures to the Undertaker. "Kane just cost Bladewolf the chance at being the #1 Contender as he did to the Undertaker."
"What are you doing?!" Bladewolf demands, shoving Kane, who doesn't like that and clobbers Bladewolf who retaliates with a right hand.
"Oh here we go!" Jerry said.
"Now it's Bladewolf and Kane!" Cole shouted.
Bladewolf and Kane slug it out with each other, before they grapple with oen another, still throwing punches at each other. However, it's broken up when the Undertaker walks over and attacks both of his brothers, which causes the two of them to start attacking the Undertaker in retaliattion.
"Bladewolf and Kane, now ganging up on the Undertaker." Cole said.
IF YOU SMELLLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN!
The Rock's theme hits to a huge pop and out comes the Rock who sprints his way down to the ring.
"Here comes the Rock! The WWF Champion!" Cole shouted.
The Rock sldies into the ring and goes after the Bladewolf, theowing a fury of rights at the Demon Wolf while the Undertaker fights off Kane. The rock then hits Bladewolf withba right hand hard enough to send him over the top rope and down to the floor while Undertaker tosses Kane out of the ring.
"The Rock and the Undertaker cleaning house!" Cole said.
"The winner of this match as a result of a disqualification... THE UNDERTAKER!" Tony Chimel announced.
Bladewolf kicks the steel steps in frustration and storms around to the ring... AND HE TACKLES KANE TO THE FLOOR!
"Kane and Bladewolf going back at it!" Cole said.
Bladewolf and Kane throw fists at each other, making it back to their feet but they still keep punching each other as security and referees run down to pull the two apart. Bladewolf shrugs them off and storms off with Trish, upset that he had been screwed twice in one week...
And that's it for this chapter.
