Yurei was waiting outside of Konoha in a training ground he knew would be empty. He was waiting for a special friend. He didn't have to wait for long. He was here. Yurei got on his knees and scratched Tora's head.
"Hello there, old friend. It's been a while. How are you doing." Yurei said with a small smile hidden behind his mask.
"Meow, meow, meow," Tora said with a smug smile, swinging his tail lazily.
Yurei let out a chuckle. "I see. Still terrorizing the genin. Well, I have a job for you. You know Kakashi right? The one with dog summons who smells like wolves?" Yurei said.
Tora took a moment to think before nodding. "Excellent. I can feel his chakra in training ground 3 near the memorial stone. Can you give this to him and have him follow you to the valley of the end?" Yurei said.
"Meow," Tora said.
"Don't worry, I have all the fish I owe you in the sealing scroll. It is fish from Uzushio, so it should be a new treat." Yurei said, and when Tora nodded, he tied a necklace around his neck. It was from the set he gifted his friends all those years ago.
He knew that Kakashi would notice it immediately since he also had one. Yurei then gave Tora the scroll with the fish. He gave Tora one last scratch behind the ears before going to his next destination to wait.
He was sitting on top of Madara's head. How the tables have turned. He didn't have to wait for long. He felt when Tora approached Kakashi and then when Kakashi started following him. Yurei unsealed his weapon.
There was going to be a fight. Yurei didn't like to admit it, but he had a knack for drama. He had his long hair in a spiky ponytail, which had black beads woven into it. He was wearing his mask and outfit, and his Katana was completely black.
Overall, it was an outfit made for hiding in the shadows. Perfect for the fight that was going to happen now. It was dusk after all. He had his blade drawn and ready. As soon as Kakashi got close enough, a barrier was activated near them.
He couldn't have anyone interrupting the fight. Kakashi was on guard immediately. "What do you want?" Kakashi asked. Yurei knew he wasn't in the mood to play since he didn't ask for his identity or why Tora had that necklace.
Yurei stayed silent, tilting his head to the side. In the next instant, they charged at each other. Kakashi had a standard tanto, and they clashed. They jumped back again to assess each other. They exchanged a couple of more hits.
Yurei was on the offensive. Yurei was using his speed and agility, but Kakashi was not slacking off during the years. He matched him blow for blow. Yurei had to take another approach. The next time he jumped back, he sent wind bullets towards Kakashi.
Kakashi dodged and used a lightning technique towards him. Yurei countered with an earth wall. The next moment, he had to jump away since Kakashi emerged from the ground just where he had been seconds ago.
Yurei threw out a smoke bomb. It only distracted Kakashi for a moment to close his eye and rely on his sensing. Yurei used that moment to create a clone and have him throw weapons at Kakashi. Kakashi blocked or dodged them all.
Yurei used the opportunity to get into close quarters. They resumed a combination of Taijutsu and Kenjutsu battle. Yurei needed a good hit. He aimed a spinning kick toward Kakashi's head, but Kakashi jumped back and avoided it narrowly.
Yurei's clone used the opportunity to engage Kakashi in a fight, and the real Yurei attacked from the back. Kakashi substituted himself with a log just in time and finished the water clone. No need to use shadow clones and trigger Konoha.
They continued their fight.
In the end, Yurei managed to finally get his clean hit. After more ninjutsu battle, they were once again setting to close range. Kakashi had his sharingan out and they were engaging in close quarters once again when Yurei used his chains to immobilize Kakashi.
It was a surprise, but he still barely managed to capture Kakashi. But he managed to immobilize him enough to knock him out with a seal. He then proceeded to remove the sharingan and used his sage powers to give him a normal eye.
He didn't want to hurt Kakashi, but there was no choice. He also left a scroll in Kakashi's hand before leaving.
At the same time as these events were happening in each of the other four nations, a similar thing happened. A high-profile ninja from each village was attacked and left unconscious with a scroll in their hands.
The content of the scrolls and the fact that each ninja lost a fight, yet they were only left unconscious, increased the perceived danger of the situation. The content of the scrolls was a declaration.
It explained how, for so long, the nations have been waging war against one another. How their selfish desire for money, power, land, and other materialistic possessions had caused so many pointless deaths. So many clans had fallen, and so many families were torn apart.
The hatred caused by the deaths of the war only bred more contempt and caused more wars to persist. Using human sacrifices and the power of tailed beasts. Using underhanded tactics. Killing civilians and children. Poisoning lands and waters.
It was never enough for them, and they were ready to do it all again in a heartbeat. They would justify their actions with empty words. Claiming their hands clean and painting everyone else the monsters.
There was one way to stop all war, and it was for all the shinobi world to fall. Once all the ninja villages fall, there can be a new world. There will be one ruler and one system. There will not be a division. The villages will be built under a new system.
All people will have their chakra sealed, and for the shinobi and those chosen for the position of power, the usage of the chakra will be monitored and regulated.
The shinobi will do the job they were always meant to. Protecting the peace against thugs and rebels and those who were opposed to the peace.
To do all this, Yurei was going to wage war against all shinobi. However, he gave them a chance. They've already seen how he can infiltrate their villages and defeat their shinobi without problems. They would either face him in a month's time in a dead land he had chosen, or they would be picked one by one.
Of course, all these declarations were put into a more eloquent context and longer format. The reason he chose that area to confront the nations was because years ago, during the Second War, some form of poison was used in the land to prevent the growth of crops.
The result was more devastating since, even after all these years, nothing would grow in those lands, so nobody could live there for miles away. It ensured the least amount of casualties if a fight broke out.
Yurei's next move was to wait for three days. The villages haven't taken any action yet, but it was time for the next push. Yurei hit the villages once again to collect the remaining Jinchuuriki. Of course, they all went with him willingly, so there weren't any real struggles.
The sudden disappearance of all jinchuuriki without a trace was what pushed villages into action. Of course, other villages already knew of the disappearance of their Jinchuuriki for a while, but they were not sure what happened to them.
Yurei simply sent each village something belonging to their Jinchuuriki to prove he had them, like the B's swords to the Raikage. For each one, it was enough to verify their identity. For Isobu, he sent a piece of coral. For Naruto, he already sent the necklace, so he just stole the body.
It was strange to steal his own dead body, but he didn't have many options. At least now, for the first time, all the Jinchuuriki had the opportunity to meet each other in person. There was a grand feast in Uzushio.
There was a party to celebrate their reunion, and everyone was having a great time. Isobu got to chat with his siblings and show them his new form, which was finally modified to his liking. Yurei had made unique bodies that the biju could possess temporarily for the night so they could all enjoy the celebrations.
Of course, there was a lot of seal work involved to make it happen, but with all the Uzumakis in the village, it wasn't so out of reach. Kurama was popular with the kids despite what he liked to claim, and as soon as the kids found him, they weren't letting him go.
Kisame was sparring with B and Gyuuki, which was more roughhousing than a spar. Guren and Isobu were talking about their techniques. And all the others were enjoying themselves. Fuu was having an eating competition with a Uzumaki woman, and some of the others had a drinking competition.
They all knew the war was near, but for the limited time they were going to have together, they were going to enjoy every second.
Now that Yurei got rid of both Obito's eyes, there was no reason to ever worry about Zetsu or the damned statue again. There was simply no way for them to connect themselves to this world again. but it made Yurei's plans harder.
The villages have finally taken the threat seriously, but there was still more to do to force their hands. Yurei needed there to be a Kage summit and formal response, so he took the next step. He waited three more days.
Then, once again, he hit the villages with his clones. He infiltrated the Kage offices and put a scroll on their desk. It was another part of his declaration. All these years, his spy clones worked to infiltrate the villages.
They managed to gather all sorts of information and secrets. Secrets only their Kage's knew. Secrets hidden in the most secure places. But Yurei had time and resources and collected them all. He then wrote those in the neat documents he was gifting the Kage.
At the bottom of the scroll, he wrote some text about how all secrets shall be revealed and that the crimes would not go unpunished.
Finally, Yurei got what he wanted. There was going to be a Kage summit in a week. To push their hands, Yurei did the same thing to each daimyo as well.
Now, there was no way they could choose any option but the war. But in the meanwhile, Yurei decided to pay Nagato a personal visit.
It's been years since they've met each other in this timeline. He was one of the first people Yurei trusted with his whole plan. He showed the man all his memories, and Nagato played his part for years perfectly.
They voluntarily sealed their memories of meeting Naruto so Obito would never find out, but now that Obito was dead, the seal was undone, and they could meet once again. The reason Yurei wanted to meet him in the first place, only for him to seal his memories, was the trust.
He didn't want to appear after he had done everything and just expected them to trust him and his words. But the meeting all those years ago solidified their relationship. Of course, Nagato could now also see that Yurei kept his word about all he ever promised, and everything was going according to his plans.
Now, it was the perfect opportunity to finally spend some time with each other properly. Yurei made some food. Enough for a grand meal. It was just going to be the three of them. Yurei, Nagato and Konan. Yurei had already informed them of his arrival.
He went to the tower where he could feel their chakra. He opened the door after knocking. "It's been a while, hasn't it?" Yurei said with a smile.
"You brat, you promised to fix my back, so come here and get to it," Nagato said with fondness.
