I stared into a wall, white everywhere I looked except my hands which still had some remaining dried blood.

On my shoulders, a heavy jacket made of leather and some electronics embraced me as if reminding me of a hug I received from that person.

"How is she?"

I heard my dad's voice speak and I turned my head up hurriedly, the doctor's face was filled with complicated emotions.

"She lost a lot of blood, thankfully the blade didn't puncture any organs."

"So she's going to be alright?!"

Before I knew it I was standing up and almost shouting at the doctor, next to me my mother came and put a hand lightly on my shoulder.

"She's in a coma at the moment."

Tears threatened to spill but my eyes but I refused to let them out, I wouldn't cry.

"H-How long is she going to be like that?"

The doctor shook his head lightly.

"We don't know, we'll have to wait and see."

I clenched my fist, I wouldn't cry.

A ringing sound reverberated in the empty hallway and my father answered his cell phone.

"Yes. Did you get him? I understand, I'll be there in a few minutes."

Closing the flip phone with a snap, he came closer to my mom and whispered something in her ear.

My mother's face quickly crumpled with restrained anger.

"Let me-"

"I'll take care of it."

Father's expression looked more severe than usual, a shadow seemingly looming over his eyes as the words came out of his mouth.

Understanding an unseen agreement, my mom nodded.

"Um, excuse me."

I turned to the side and a plastic bag was handed to me.

"Inside are all the things that she carried on herself."

I stared at the bag for a few seconds before taking it.

It didn't feel right, this felt like I was being handed a dead person's belongings.

The thoughts crossing my head were quickly pushed away as I remained strong, even if I was not able to be as physically strong as her I could try to be emotionally strong.

As I held the bag I saw something hit the floor, a pair of metal objects held together by a string.

Crouching down I picked it up and looked at it, there was some text written in English that I could not understand on one side, and on the back was a name.

Their given name was there but their family name had been scratched off and in its stead, the words Silverhand had been written roughly.

"What have you got there?"

Kiriko looked over my shoulder and at what I was holding, I held it closer so she could see.

"Oh, those are the doggu taggus Vaureri is always wearing."

"Doggu taggus?"

My mom nodded as she grabbed them.

"They're used to identify soldiers in case they suffer a death which leaves them unrecognizable, these seem pretty old probably around the Vietnam war."

Kiriko inspected the dog tags and as she saw the letters she translated them out loud.

"Strength is not overcoming every obstacle in your way but learning from the ones you could not. It's a good quote."

Mom handed me the dog tags back and I looked at them, these words felt like they were meant for me.

"Who do you think this belonged to?"

"Probably Vaureri-chan's uncle, heard he was a veteran from what I heard from her when we just started communicating. I think his name was Johnny something."

I looked at the dog tags again, the name having more meaning than before.

"Jonasan Shirubahando."

A sharply dressed man walked down a police station in a pinstripe suit, his face was covered in a shadow which reflected the turmoil inside his heart.

This man was Miyamoto Tadashi, the ever-stoic detective now sported a frown on his face.

At the moment he was on his way to the interrogation room in the station, all the policemen and women around him slightly bowed as they saw him walk by.

Unfortunately, the man's head was filled with dark and turbulent thoughts resulting in him ignoring these gestures.

Tadashi had given his niece a request, to take care of Rei.

'It happened again, I let that scum off easily and it resulted in the sacrifice of my family.'

The self-depreciation began but it was quickly overcome by the anger he felt.

When he had told those words to V he hadn't meant them like like this, he wanted Rei to have someone to emotionally support her in the rough times in which Tadashi or Kiriko couldn't.

And now, his niece had two stab wounds and was in a coma trying to follow the request he gave her.

Tadashi's frown deepened as his frustration and anger rose.

Eventually, he reached his destination, in front of him was a metal door with the word "Interrogation" plastered on it.

Without waiting for another second, Tadashi entered the room.

Inside this room was a man with shifty eyes cuffed to the metal table, next to him stood two officers who saluted as soon as he entered the room.

"At ease."

Relenting the salute the two men exited the room, the man with disgusting eyes smiled at Tadashi as the man took a seat in front of him.

"Good afternoon, detective."

Tadashi remained silent as he stared at the information in front of him, turning the pages he processed everything inside it.

V had not only saved Rei from the kidnapping but also a possible rape, he hated to admit it but he couldn't have chosen a better person for his selfish request.

"Sakamoto Daisuke, 26, no job, previous troubles with the law include vandalism, assault, and robbery."

The man chuckled.

"That's me~"

The Miyamoto Patriarch frowned, his patience running drier and drier by the second.

"You got caught being an accomplice to rape, kidnapping, and a murder attempt. Have you got no fear?"

The eyes of the man closed slightly as he smiled while showing his teeth.

"Of course not, I'm innocent~"

Scum.

That was the word most prominent in the detective's mind.

"I'm obliged to tell you that if you were to confess to the crimes to which we have proof you and your accomplices committed then your sentence would not be as severe as it could be."

The smile never left the man's face as he shook his head as if talking to a child that wouldn't understand what they were being taught.

"As I said, I'm innocent. Whatever "proof" you might have will surely be cleared by a Judge~"

The inflection on the word Judge got to him, Tadashi understood now.

Even if this case went to court, he would not get correctly prosecuted for his crimes.

Miyamoto Tadashi stood up and looked at the singular camera in the room, the shifty-eyed man confused at this action stared at him.

After 14 seconds of staring at the camera, the red light that signified the recording on the corner of it turned off and the lenses pointed right at the floor.

"It seems the camera malfunctioned."

Looking at the man with his stone-faced expression the criminal couldn't help but flinch slightly.

"Hey, man, listen. You don't want to get into legal troubl-"

SLAP

An open-handed slap across the face shut the man off before he could continue.

"You're going to confess."

The man with shifty eyes became enraged at this at was quick to start shouting.

SLAP

Another slap hit the man across the face.

SLAP

And another.

SLAP

And another.

SLAP

And another, the man finally managed to cover his face with his shoulder.

"S-Stop! I-I can't do that!"

"Why not?"

The fear in the man's eyes told most of the story but that wasn't enough for Tadashi.

Opening his suit's blazer he let his police revolver be seen by the man who took a hard gulp at the sight.

"H-He's gonna hurt me badly, dude! I-I can't, please!"

"Talk."

The man began to profusely sweat as he seemed to be getting paler and paler.

"I-I-I can't."

In a single motion, Tadashi drew his revolver and put it against the man's temple.

"HEY-"

CLACK

The man's complaining was quickly silenced by the sound of the hammer cocking back.

"Talk."

Tears started flowing from the man's eyes as he felt fear, unlike anything he had ever felt before, the tension in his body almost able to be seen by the naked eye.

"I-I-I-I ca-"

The detective dug harshly against the skull of the criminal, the man's eyes met Tadashi, and what he saw scared him.

No emotions, no expression.

In his eyes, the man was but trash.

"Before you speak I recommend you listen to me, Sakamoto-kun. I know where you live, I know where you're going to go, and I know your bank details. I know all this and whatever else I need to know, I will get with just a phone call. So listen well, I do not like to repeat myself."

Tears streamed down the man's face unable to be stopped at will, bending down slightly the detective leaned into Sakamoto's ear.

"If what you say is true and all this gets swept under a rug because of your connections, I will personally take matters into my own hands. If you don't get your deserved sentence for the crimes you've committed I will find you, take you to a mountain and dismember you from your toes to your head while injecting anticoagulants into your blood so you don't bleed out during the process, after which I will bury you in that mountain in multiple locations where no detective, police or family of yours will ever find your remains."

The 26-year-old man trembled in place as he felt he might pass himself at any moment, tears now replaced with a green tint to his face as he could vividly imagine the things that might happen to him.

"Do you understand me, Sakamoto-kun?"

The man nodded repeatedly with a face as white as a ghost, in the same quick and fluid motion the Tadashi used to draw the gun, he holsters it.

Walking over to one of the walls Tadashi taps the mirror on it three times, suddenly the power comes back to the security camera and it starts recording again.

"As we were talking about before we were interrupted by the system malfunctioning, are you going to confess to the crimes you've committed, Sakamoto-kun?"

"Y-Yes... Sir..."

Tadashi nodded.

"Understandable, I'll get a statement form and a recorder for your confession I'll be back in a minute."

Walking outside the door the detective continued on his way, this time he wouldn't be soft.

For his daughter.

For Valerie.

"Failed?! What do you mean failed?!"

Koichi Shido scratched his head in frustration as he had to hear the pig called his father bitch and moan about the unfortunate situation.

"As I said, some unforeseen circumstances made it so the intimidation attempt got derailed and-"

"I don't give a shit about your excuses! I paid you so you would do this right! Do you think it was easy to put some snot-nosed brat as a teacher in a prestigious school such as Fujimi?! You can't do anything fucking right!"

Koichi grit and clenched his teeth as he wished nothing more than to hurt the man humiliating him at the moment, unfortunately, he was interrupted by the doll bell ringing.

DING DONG

"Hey, what happened with the guys you send?"

His father's voice suddenly turned deadly serious as he heard the doorbell.

"I-I don't know..."

"Shido-san! It's the police we need to have a few words with you!"

He could see the color drain from his father's face as he looked in horror at him.

"You goddamn failure..."

Koichi took a look around as he saw everything that he had worked for start to vanish with a single misstep.

"Shit..."

[INTERMISSION END]

Author's Note:

Hey! It's ya boy again!

This is just a short intermission chapter while I finish the next one, sorry to disappoint.

The job I took turned out to be a scam job that only worked on commissions and didn't pay minimum wage during the "test period(3 months)" so after a week or so I just stopped going(this mf really took a whole week to notice it was a scam what a dumbass lol)

So yeah, intelligence isn't really my strong suit.

I'll try to update soon, at least before Monday.

That Volkanovski vs Islam fight was dope as fuck, one of the most competitive Champion vs Champion fights I've seen yet and I desperately need that rematch(had to put this here cuz I don't have anyone that cares about MMA irl lol)

As always thank you for reading!

(no review replies in this chapter cuz I'm saving them for the actual chapter)
