CH 6
When it was time Hammersley left port for a month's patrol. The crew told Grant about the engagement, to which he congratulated Kate on it. while out on patrol the guys talking about planning bucks night for Mike.
"I don't think Mike would like one guys" Kate said on the bridge
"Why not it is terdision X." charge said. she turned to him
"Remember chefo bucks" Charge, RO and swain laugh
"I remember it bad wig and all" Swain said
"What happened?" Ryan asked.
Ro, charge and swain share with the others about the chefo buck party and what happened. They all laughed when they told the others who were dressed up as Kate and what happened to the spider as punishment. During the month Kate and Mike email each other talking about weddings. Mike told her three places which would be good for a wedding and reception and that he already contacted his family about the engagement and that they are happy and looking forward to it.
He then sent the scan article from the newspaper showing a photo of the two of them in each other's arms with Kate on the left side of the camera. It is the one where they were caught off guard when they were smiling at each other and it shows Kate's left hand where the ring is plus the announcement
'Flynn-McGregor. Commander Mike Flynn of HMAS Cairns NAVCOM and lieutenant Kate McGregor of HMAS Hammersley are pleased to announce their engagement to family friends co workers and crew mates'
When Hammersley returned from patrol Mike was waiting on the wharf for Kate since it was his day off. Mike waited for Kate, when he did see her, she was still in her DBNU when she walked onto the wharf carrying her sea bag.
"This is a surprise." she said, giving him a kiss.
"Why not, how was your patrol"
"Crazy between talking about your bucks night and hearing from the formal crew, maydays and FFV. it been busy"
"sounds like it, let's go home"
"sounds good to me, talk about homes did you see the links i sent to you"
"Yes i did and we can go and see the three homes now"
"mike i'm still in uniform"
"so" he said, smiling as he picked up her bag and put his arm around her shoulder just as they walked along the wharf.
"what am i going to do with you Mike"
"I'm sure you will think of something up"
"toothbrush duties"
"no i wasn't thinking that"
"Very funny mike" When they got to Mike's car and they got in.
Mike made a phone call before he drove to the first house. They talk about other things till Mike park outside the house. "This is the first one"
"Ok nice area ten minutes from NAVCOM"
"That it is." when the agent arrived.
They got out and walked over to the women. She shows them around the two story house while talking to them about it. "what do you think Kate?"
"nice house but i'm not sure"
"Ok let me show you the other two"
"Thank you" they walked back to their cars and drove to the second house then the third once. After seeing all three houses Mike turns to Kate.
"what do you think Kate?"
"Out of all three houses i do like the second one but i don't like the colour of the house and the kitchen and master bathroom"
"So if we buy the second house we could do it up the way we want it"
"I agree Mike"
"so the second house"
"Yes the second house" Mike turn to the smiling agent
"the second house ok, come by tomorrow and i'll have the paperwork done for you to sign"
"Thanks," Mike said, then he hugged and kissed Kate.
Then they left to go to Kate's place where she got changed and sorted out her sea bag. Then she and Mike left to go out for dinner then met the crew at the pub for celebration drinks. that night they return back to Kate place for the night.
Later that night while in bed. Kate turned and looked at Mike who was looking at her. "Kate are you ok"
"I was thinking, does Maxine know about our engagement"
"no she was away for two weeks doing a course when it was in the papers"
"ok so none of the staff told her"
"no but they did congratulated me and is happy for us"
"that good"
"Daral told Steve about it, he called me to congratulated us"
"Was he surprised"
"He had a fair idea something was going on between us since we first met but he told me i should of taken the promotion when i was promoted then we would of been married by now and had a little flynn by now" Kate smile
"That one thing i would love to have with you"
"what little flynn"
"Or two or three"
"Well once we are married we can start on the first one"
"I would like that" she moved so she could kiss him then snuggled down against him.
"We can start while on our honeymoon" Mike said making Kate laugh as she look up at him
"Sounds good to me" he kissed the top of her head then pulled her close as they closed their eyes and fell asleep.
The next morning Kate went to the bank then she and Mike went to the realtor to fill out the forms and handed the check over for the full amount. Once done and the papers sign. They left for the lawyer's office with the copy of the papers. then the lawyer got them to sign the papers. when done they left and went their separate ways. Mike went to NAVCOM while Kate went shopping.
Three days later Hammersley left port for a two week patrol. While out on patrol Mike took care of Kate's things since they talk about her moving into his house. They already talk about what to keep and what to donate. Kate had already handed in her tenancy leaving papers and knew she got two weeks before the expiry date. When Mike finishes work he would go around to Kate place to pack up her personal things and clothes since she already got most of it at his place.
When Hammersley returned from it patrol the crew left for some shore leave. Kate left to go to Mike's place since she was living there now. She saw boxes in the spear room and her clothes in the closet there as well in Mike's closet and in boxes. She sorted out her sea bag then her clothes.
When Mike arrived home that night they both hugged and kissed. "How was your day" she asked
"Busy, i notice from your reports you been busy as well"
"Yes we have been alright. Thanks for taking care of my place"
"any time, i'll go and get chance then we can sort something out for dinner"
"sounds good to me" Mike went and got changed then returned.
They both talk about what they are going to have for dinner and work together preparing it while talking about the house and ideas for new paint work on the outside and new kitchen and bathroom on the inside. After dinner Mike got his laptop on the dining room table after dinner.
they look at the different colours for outside of the house till they both agree on the new colour. then they look at different designs for the bathroom and colours as well do up a ruff design for the bathroom. Then they started designing their new kitchen plus talked about what sort of bench top it going to be, same with the sinks, everything. After they went over everything together and did the dishes they went to bed where they made passionate love before falling asleep in each other's arms.
The next day Kate made some phone calls as well and went to the house since the owners had moved out. The rearler estate agent was there to hand over the keys after checking the place out and signing some more papers since Mike already signed them.
After the rearler estate agent left a building contractor showed up. Kate showed him the ruff design on the kitchen and bathroom plus pictures she printed out so he would know what she and Mike had in mind. When the contractor left another contractor showed up so she did the same with him.
After he left, the house painting contractor showed up so Kate spoke to the guy and showed him what colour she and Mike picked. After he saw the house and wrote some notes, the guy left. After he left two more contractors showed up. After they left Kate went and did some shopping then headed home.
The next day Hammersley left for a six week patrol starting off with dropping supplies off three islands then there patrols. Two weeks later Kate checked her emails. one from Mike. She opened it first. It was about the renovations of the house. When she saw what Mike wrote to her about the price quotes from each of the contractors, she wrote back to him and let him decide and the quote for getting the house painted.
When finished on the computer she went and got a brew then started on her boarding reports. When Mike saw Kate's email that night he smiled when he read what she said so he knew who to call to get the work done and how long it was going to take.
When Hammersley returns back from it patrols the crew looking forward to two week shore leave and Mike and Kate wedding which is in three days time. When Grant and Kate arrived at NAVCOM she smiled when she saw Mike, he pointed to his ear so she knew he's on the phone. When he hung up he walked over to her.
"Busy patrol"
"Yes, the guys planning on having your bucks tonight" Mike grin
"Well i did send them the email on the date of our wedding"
"Yeah four weeks notice Mike so you could get out of your bucks party"
"Well it worth a try"
"True"
"good news is i found a temporary XO while we are on our honeymoon"
"that great news"
"Yes it is and." he pull set of keys out of his pocket and pass them to her
"what this"
"Keys to our house. The old owners suggest that we change the locks cause family and friends got copies and some of them have returned the keys, others haven't"
"Ok, anything else"
"I had to install security cameras and alarms. you will need a code to deactivate the alarm"
"Ok what is the code" mike smile
"Remember the date when we first made love" Kate thought about it
"the twenty seventh of january"
"what year"
"Two thousand and two"
"so…."
"two seven one zero two"
"It eight didget code"
"Oh two seven zero one two zero zero two"
"that the code"
"Ok thanks, so when did you move in?"
"Last week and my place was up for sale"
"OK" he passed her the keys.
"See you at home tonight"
"I'll be looking ford checking out our new home"
"I know you are." he gives her a quick kiss before she walks out of the ball pen.
When she arrived home and parked her car outside the garage. She got out and looked at the new painted house. She got her sea bag out of her car then walked to the back door where she unlocked it and opened it up. She saw where the security key pad is and walked over and pressed the eight digit code and saw the light turn green.
She walked down and into the laundry room where she sorted out her washing and put it in the washing machine since she saw the liquid washing detergent on the shelf. once that was going. She walked into the new kitchen. She looks around it checking to see where everything is.
Then she went and checked the rest of the house out. When she walked into the master bedroom she saw the new bed Mike brought the day he moved in as a new beginning of their lives together in their new home. She walks into the new walk in wardrobe and smiles when she sees her side and Mike's side full of clothes and shoes.
While there she got change out of her uniform then she walked next door into the new bathroom so she could use the loo. After she used it and washed her hands she looked around to see the twin spa bath with shelves where the candles and wine glasses could go. the bigger windows so while taking a bath she could look outside of them since it got a special glass where you can look out but can't look in.
It got a large double shower which she knew both her and Mike would enjoy in the morning which made her smile. Plus a double hand basin, large mirror on the wall and draws for all those extra items like shower gel, tampons, toilet paper, toothpaste, body lotions she uses, perfume. things like that.
When she finished looking around there. she went to check the rest of the house out then left to do some shopping.
When Mike arrived home. he look around for Kate, so he walk up stairs and in the bedroom where he was removing his uniform "I can see you" Mike look around
"kate"
"in the bathroom" he walk to the half open door and push it open and walk in then stop and smile
"Enjoying your bath"
"no, your not in it" Mike smile
"Well then i should join you"
"Yes you should" Mike walked out of the bathroom to remove his uniform and his boxer shorts. Then he walked back in to see Kate pouring the wine in the glasses. The step ford and got into the bath facing Kate just as she turned the jets on. they pick up their glasses
"to us and our future where it might lead us" mike said
"To where our hearts lead us. it lead me back to you"
"Same here, that is where my heart is, with you" they clicked their glasses and took a sip of their drink. then they put them on the shelf.
Then they move together wrapping their arms around each other as they kiss. when they broke for air they looked at each other "i'm looking forward to spending the rest of my life with you Kate"
"Same here Mike you are my life"
"As you are my life, not the navy" they kiss once more. when they broke apart,
Mike saw the different foods Kate made and set up in between the candles. so they fed each other and drank the wine while talking about the upcoming wedding. A couple hours later they were in bed making passionate love then lying in each other's arms.
"Mike, i just remember something" she turn to look at him
"what"
"do the crew know that you moved"
"no why"
"buck night i think they must of gone to your old house" Mike grin
"oh it amazing that they haven't called"
"Your shouldn't say that, they might try to call to find out where we are"
"True" then he roll them over till he was on top of her
"Let them have their own fun, while we have our own" they kiss when the phone rings. Kate manage to reach over and pick up her phone
"dutchy… where are you" Kate try not to laugh
"Oh your at Mike place… have you try calling him… well give him a call… ok have fun, night dutchy" then she hung up
"He going to call you" then Mike phone rings so he pick it up
"dutchy… no i'm not there anymore… yes i moved… no you guys go and have some fun… i'm busy tonight" he looked down at Kate while smiling
"Ok enjoy your shore leave and see you on saturday… night mate" then he hung up and put his phone on the bedside cabinet, then he moved back till he was looking down at Kate.
"We should tell them where we live Mike"
"After our honeymoon"
"Good idea" she pulled him down for a passionate kiss.
