-The Next Morning-

Eddie held back his yawn as he came into the headquarters. He replayed the scene of yesterdays date over and over all night and even now regret over choices burdened him.

The only distraction to these thoughts was the upcoming interaction with Lorraine at her desk.

An older Italian waved at Eddie across the semi-busy street. Eddie waved back. 'Look at that I'm already gaining fans…or is he someone I know.' Eddie tried to recognize the man who looked to be in his fifties with graying hair and wearing torn and dirty overalls.

The man ushered Eddie to come over. Eddie jogs over to see the man was peddling flowers.

"Ciao soldier."

"Ciao." Eddie said as he tried to figure out a way to exit this sales pitch.

"You're a hot-blooded young man, yes." The man began.

Before Eddie could respond, the man pulls out a bouquet of flowers in a variety of colors; purple, blue, pink and the most recognizable red roses.

"Bellissima, your lady would love it."

"Yes." Eddie said.

Eddie ignored the teasing of his fellow soldiers as he made his way down into the headquarter's office. 'This should definitely get me a second date.' He thinks.

He almost drops the flowers when he sees a Tech Corporal leaning over Lorraine's desk.

"Did you miss me, sweetheart?" askes the tech corporal.

Lorraine fakes a smile, "Oh Thomas you know my heart like no other."

Eddie's heart doubled its pace. He hid the bouquet behind his back and made his way past Lorraine's desk.

"Kent." Lorraine called out.

Eddie spun around keeping the bouquet out of view. "Yes Private Philipss." Lorraine looked down at her newspaper. "Tech Corporal Sanders needs to see the Colonel can you see he gets there."

"Sure can." Eddie said. He ushered the corporal to follow him.

"Aren't those some nice flowers there." Corporal Sanders says.

Lorraine looks up to see but Eddie practically rushes through the double doors to the rest of the headquarters.

"This way." Eddie said running up the stairs.

"We racing?" asked Sanders catching up.

"No sir, just in a hurry." Eddie said. He comes to a stop in front of the Colonel's office and knocks twice.

Colonel Philipss steps out and notices Corporal Sanders, who salutes.

The colonel turns to Eddie and almost sighs. "Those flowers aren't for me are they private?" Eddie looks down.

"Would you…want them sir?" Eddie asks.

Corporal Sanders suffocates a chuckle. Colonel Philips' narrows his eyes. "Private Kent go help Agent Carter." Eddie Salutes before heading down the stairs.

He found Carter in the main communique room.

"Agent Carter, Colonel Philips said you could use my help." Eddie said as he came into the room.

Agent carter looked up from talking with a specialist and saw the flowers.

"Yeah…um why did you bring…"

"Do you want them?" Eddie offers the flowers.

Carter takes them with a soft expression. "Thank you, Private Kent but I…"

"Like Steve, I know." Eddie answered. His jealousy returning with a vengeance. Tears dared to exit his eyes.

Carter looked around the communique room before giving Eddie a hard stare. "Can you come outside with me Private."

'What the hell did I do now.' He follows her outside the room. 'Seems a happy lets do it attitude just gets me in trouble I should've just kept my mouth shut and I would've been home where I wasn't expected to do'

"Who I like or don't like doesn't matter when I'm wearing this uniform." Carter tosses the boutique at Eddie. "Especially romantic gestures in front of everyone."

"I thought you said you understood a few days ago."

Eddie glared at the boutique before he dumped them in the trash. "Sorry, Agent Carter."

"I like you, you're my friend but at work I expect you to act like a professional."

"I'm sorry for offering that boutique and for bringing up personal relations in front of everyone. I promise as long as we're in these uniforms I'll act professionally."

"Thank you, Eddie but I'm still upset." Carter says before she heads back into the room with Eddie right behind her.

Carter was shoving on her coat as she gave a technician some last minutes orders.

"Agent Carter, may I walk with you?" Eddie asked.

Carter looked him over before saying, "Sure."

Eddie smiled and followed her out of the office.

The two walked in silence for a few minutes before Carter asked, "Why did you buy flowers."

Eddie frowned in remembrance. "Would you believe I was sweet talked by a very flattering older farmer."

Carter broke a smile. "Really."

"Yeah, I thought I could use it to bargain a second date with Private Philipss."

Carter stopped in her tracks, "Philips's niece." Eddie nodded.

"Wow I'm actually surprised she'd go out on a date…"

"With me."

"With anyone." Carter admitted.

"So you think I should ask her out again?" Eddie asked.

Carter smiles, "as your female friend and someone who knew Lorraine for almost two years, you should definitely ask her out."

Eddie shoved his hands in his pockets. And begun to skip. Carter laughed at the younger man. Eddie skipped back to her and offered his arm. Carter relunctantly took it and the two skipped the rest of the way to Carter's abode.

-The Next Day-

Eddie skipped steps until he reached the bottom.

Lorraine looked up from her newspaper in surprise at Eddie's landing.

"Private Kent." Lorraine said.

"Private Philipss." Eddie said.

Eddie walked over to her desk, double checking ways to ask Lorraine out. Lorraine looked perplexed at him when he stood there quietly for a minute.

"Did you want something."

"Yes, can I interrupt your work to ask you a question."

"What, sure." Lorraine said.

"Do you want to go out with me again tonight?" Eddie asked.

A small smile formed on Lorraine's lips. "Well private, I was expecting that question yesterday." Eddie began to deflate.

"So I expect double the date tonight" Lorraine said.

"Well then I better go plan the perfect double date."

"You can pick me up from my dorm at 7 PM."

Eddie smiled before dashing to the exit.

-A few days later-

Eddie shouldered his pack as Howard was explaining some more about his special gas gun.

"No more friendly fire, ok." Howard finished.

"I promise, the only person I will shoot are Hydra goons and you." Howard hugged Eddie.

They finally found a plane that was heading near the area Cap and the others were. It took some convincing to allow Eddie to be onboard with the rations and supplies but when you threw around the name Captain America, almost everyone agreed to the request.

"Hey jerk!" called a familiar voice. Eddie turned to see Lorraine was just a few feet away with her uncle, Colonel Philips a few steps behind.

"Don't I get a goodbye kiss?" she asked as she reached Eddie. Howard smirked at Eddie before he went to block the Colonel.

"Are you asking me, if you can kiss me?" Eddie teased. Lorraine pouted.

"Yes." Eddie said leaning in.

"Oh heavens no." came a loud groan from behind them. Howards goal to distract the Colonel was a failure. When Eddie tore away from Lorraine, the smirk on Howard's face, told Howard had no intention of distracting the Colonel.

Colonel Phillips frown lines were deeper than engraved stone.

"I'll be back." Eddie promised Lorraine.

"You better." Lorraine smiled.

Eddie headed to his plane but was stopped by a rushing of feet from behind. It was Peggy who was holding a small package.

"Make sure to give this to Steve." She entrusted the small brown package to Eddie. Eddie gripped it with both hands.

Eddie walked up the ramp. 'On my way Steve.' He thought.
