Captain America surveyed the team of heroes that had answered the call. Bruce Banner in the Hulk buster armor, Black widow, Thor, Rocket the raccoon who was piloting their ship through space, War Machine, and the grief-stricken Thor. Cap was disappointed he got so many refusals, but he understood with all the natural disasters popping up and bastards like Dr. Doom taking advantage of the situation it made sense to keep a good number of heroes on earth to protect it.

"How long till we intercept Tony?" Cap asked Rocket.

Rocket pressed a button and a screen appeared. "According to the coordinates your friend sent, which suck, by the way, I could've gotten us there like." Rocket snaps his finger but then stared at it. How could one bastard ruin a simple hand gesture?

"Rocket," Cap said bringing Rocket back to the moment.

Rocket shook his head. "We should be running into your facial bro in a few parsecs." Cap didn't bother to ask Rocket what parsecs meant. He like everyone else on the ship was getting stir-crazy it was too small to handle their numbers and... Cap bit his tongue the Avengers never lost a fight twice; this will not be their first.

He walked down the cockpit area to see black widow had shoved herself into a dark corner staring at her phone. It no doubt had the image of Clint and his family. When they had sent a quinjet down there, they found the house deserted and empty.

Cap wanted to say something to her but decided not to. Some people needed to be alone to process.

Cap found Rhodey and Bruce in the mess hall making dinner. Rhodey was digging into an MRE while Bruce pulled out a large sandwich from the cooler. "Whoa, wha-how did you get that?"

Bruce looked at Rhodey bewildered, "What do you mean I got it from the kitchen in the compound and." Bruce gestured to his blue cooler.

Rhodey looked inquisitively at the cooler. "You got an extra sandwich."

Bruce pulled the cooler behind him. "Um, no, you got your own food," Bruce said gesturing at the MRE Rhodey was holding. Rhodey looked sadly at his food. "We were going into space, I thought we could only get..."

Cap didn't hear Rhodey's sad explanation as he moved past the mess hall down a ladder into the storage space. Where Thor sat staring at Storm Breaker.

Thor's pride was probably the one hurting the most. Cap understood the feeling. While not a god himself, there was a certain belief one holds when they are called a Super Soldier. Cap didn't really believe he was better than any man who chose to serve their country, but he did believe he couldn't lose. Shouldn't lose. He stood with the white hats and believed- good triumphed over evil.

But with the civil war with Iron man just a year ago and now Thanos, his belief in himself was shaken.

Thor seemed to finally notice Cap. "How long till we reach Thanos?"

"We're gonna rendezvous with Tony first."

Thor shook his head. "We don't have time to wait." Thor rose to his full height, who was the only person to actually make Cap feel small, and strode toward Cap looking him down.

"We fought Thanos divided," Cap said truthfully. "If we had...if we were together as a team, we might have had to stop Thanos."

Thor brushed past Cap.

Cap reached for Thor but decided against it. I can't help him when I'm suffering too. A drowned man can't help another person drowning. Maybe we should have waited... but that didn't feel right either.

"We found 'em," said Rocket through the intercom.

Tony looked at the assembled team.

"I thought I said to gather as many people as you could, Steve," Tony whined as he took another bite out of Bruce's sandwich. Turned out he did have an extra one. Rhodey would be glaring at Bruce if he was blind to the fact how ravenously Tony was devouring the food.

"And leave Earth undefended," Cap said with a shake of his head. "I got who I could."

"We should be more than enough." Black Widow said from her corner.

Tony glanced at Natasha and smiled. He was glad that she had made it. He turned to Rhodey with an unspoken question. Rhodey nodded his head. Tony sighed in relief.

"You got a game plan?" Asked Cap.

"No, I thought you'd have a plan by now," Tony said.

Cap smiled, he had thought of at least a dozen tactics that all surrounded, "Our first move is to subdue him to keep him from using the gauntlet."

"We tried the same thing." Nebula said keeping her arms crossed as she turned away from the rodent to the avengers. "We failed."

"This time we won't." Cap tried to force courage and belief in his voice.

"We hit him quick, Thor, Bruce, Rhodey, and you Tony, our heavy hitters are gonna tear him down. Then Natasha and I will remove the gauntlet. Once removed Rocket, and Nebula you're gonna finish the job."

Rocket popped his neck. "My pleasure."

A loud clanging sound erupted through the ship as red lights flashed.

"Holy flarkin hell is this." Shouted Rocket running on all fours to the cockpit.

Everyone quickly followed except Rhodey and Tony. "I think I need the suit now," Tony said. Rhodey nodded going over to a large metal box and typing in the password. The canister slid open revealing a gold and red armor with gears as shoulders, an open maw for a mouth, and a giant cannon on its back.

"The God buster armor." whistled Rhodey admiring it.

Rocket looked flabbergasted through the viewport as multiple ships from different planets, and empires lead a bombardment on the small green planet.

"The Skrulls, the Shi'ar, the Badoons, almost everyone that's anybody is here for this party." Rocket watched agape as entire ships exploded into a rainbow of colors to only be replaced by another attacking ship.

"You think they'll let us join the party?" Tony asked in his new armor, but his sweet new armor wasn't enough to pull the group's attention.

"I still don't understand how you see this as a party," Natasha answered, her mouth agape. She saw some pretty fucked up shit in her life, but outer space battle was new even for her.

A bright gold light blinded them as a figure approached.

"Well I was wondering when the Avengers were gonna show up." said a familiar voice.

"Marvel is that you?" asked Thor.

"Who the hell else do you see glow gold and fly in space without a suit." Captain Marvel asked.

Rocket grunted, "you ain't the only Goldie out there." His mind raced to their mysterious encounter with the man known as Adam Warlock.

Captain Marvel nodded, "I was hoping this was just a space problem, but if you guys are here."

"We're here to avenge the people Thanos took from us." Growled Thor, Stormbreaker shifting in his hands, as blue electricity sparked. Carol noticed the new weapon but thought better than asking.

"Yeah, well I think most of these guys would rather start blasting you guys along with Thanos," Carol said looking at the destruction behind her. "I couldn't even penetrate the reflective shield Thanos threw up."

Cap leaned forward on the console studying the battle. Ships were attacking and clashing against an invisible force that covered the entire planet.

"Tony, you see anything?" Cap said.

Tony stepped forward, "Friday?" The eye sockets of his armor glowed with blue lights as they scanned the actual rainbow shield. "The Shield is practically impenetrable it's reinforced by the infinity stones but..." Tony quickly added, "but if we can get through, I've been able to track where that energy is originating from, quadrant z of the planet."

"That's a pretty suit you got." Rocket admired.

"Yeah, you can't have it, raccoon."

"I am not a raccoon, and I don't want your armor because I could build a better one." Said Rocket.

"If only Vision was here," Natasha said remembering Vision's ability to phase through things.

"His power might not work on this," Bruce said. "The energy of the infinity gems are recognizable like gamma rays but behave on a completely different level."

Thor struck his axe into the ground.

"Whoa" cried out Rocket. "Not cool man."

"Enough of this gabbing, I - we - I will not stand here gawking." Thor made his way out of the cockpit for one of the hatches.

"This is why he keeps beating you, Thor," Tony shouted down at Thor.

Rhodey grabbed Tony's shoulder, but Tony shrugged out of it. Thor stopped halfway down the stairs. "What was that?"

"Oh I'm sorry my royal deity, did I hurt your feelings?" Tony made a faux bow. Thor whirled to him lightning streaking his body. "Watch it, tin man."

"Stop it both of you," said Natasha. Captain Marvel scratch the back of her head, she turned around to see two fighters had split from the attack to come to investigate the errant arrival of the Quinjet and Milano. "Shit, you guys chill for a moment, you guys have incoming." Captain marvel relayed to the team.

"You always do this no plan, no back up you just attack thinking just cause you're a "god" you're invincible. News flash buddy, you fought Thanos, twice, and twice he kicked your ass." Tony continued despite everyone's words. "You think the third time gonna be different." Thunder crackled throughout the Quinjet.

"I - " Thor started.

"For a long time I believed if there was a GOD, he was a selfish jerk, but then I met you, a real god I could talk to and know, and it turns out you're just as much of a jerk as I thought a god would be. Worthy my ass." Thor's grip began to crack Storm breaker's handle.

"Enough!" Shouted Rhodey pulling Tony away from Thor. "We're about to face our greatest enemy yet and you guys want to fight like school children."

Tony pushed Rhodey off and pointed at the green planet where another Shi'ar Cruiser just exploded. "He has the infinity gems, he can keep that shield up for an eternity, by the time that shield goes down, the heatwave of the universe would happen soon after." Tony ripped his helmet off. "He gets to fucking win."

"Uh, guys." Rocket called everyone's attention from Tony's meltdown back to the viewport. The shield that had surrounded the planet had disappeared. "It's no longer shielded." The heroes quickly crowded the viewport and sure enough, the rainbow-colored orb that wrapped around the planet was gone. The Universal fleets stopped their assault. The chatter that had rattled the radio was silent.

No ship moved forward.

"What does this mean?" Asked Bruce.

"It means we go in." Said Rocket grabbing the controls and forcing the Quinjet toward Quadrant Z of the planet. The heroes who weren't seated which were everyone except Rocket were flung to the ground as Rocket accelerated.

It took a moment for the united fleet to notice the Quinjet soaring toward the planet as a few fighters, and cruisers began opening fire on them.

"What the hell are they doing?" growled Nebula, as the Quinjet shook from the near misses. "Probably trying to stop us from setting off a trap or something." Grunted Cap as he pulled himself up from the floor.

"Rocket, slow down." groaned Bruce, as his stomach was now on his shirt.

"Don't worry, Hulky, I got us covered." smiled Rocket.

A fighter was able to cut in front of them ready for a game of chicken.

"Oh god." moaned Natasha seeing the incoming fighter.

Rocket just smiled and pressed harder on the accelerator. He was going to shoot Thanos' fucking chin off for Groot, and then keep shooting him for every family member the purple bitch took from him and then shoot him some more for the hell of it. If this Badoon punk thought Rocket was gonna turn away for his chance of revenge, Rocket would rather die.

"Rocket," Rhodey shouted as they were less than a mile away from each other.

A sudden burst of gold light destroyed the fighter. The group looked and saw Captain Marvel deflecting fighters and photon missiles with her powers.

"That's a good airman, "said Cap with a smile as the Quinjet entered the planet's atmosphere.

"Avengers" Cap called as they landed.

"Assemble!"
