Previously on Dragon Ball Aftermath: Rewrite

After the backstory's explanation was complete, Zateus and Omesus also found out about Beerus's trial being similar to Zydis's, which made them angrier. Daishinkan restored Zateus's memories, explaining all of his past actions and wanting to make things right with the mortals. After the two sides made peace, Goku returned to Earth, hoping for everything to return to normal. Unfortunately, he had a dream about his other half showing his face again and trying to take control of Goku's body. Fortunately, Zalama intervened.

Chapter Forty

Goku slowly opened his eyes, finally feeling peaceful for the first time since before Omesus's first arrival. He got out of bed, stretching and yawning. He looked at the clock, and his eyes widened to realize he had slept for thirteen hours. The sun was rising as he walked into the kitchen.

In front of him, Bulma and Chi-Chi were cooking up a big breakfast. At the thought of food, his stomach grumbled loudly, catching their attention. Chi-Chi turned around and smiled, walking up to her husband. "Goku, are you okay?"

Goku nodded, smiling at the fact that his wife seemed to be feeling better. "Yeah, I can't remember the last time I slept that long. You guys are making food?"

His wife nodded. "Of course, we need something to eat after the trauma we've endured."

Goku left the kitchen, going to take a quick shower. After he put his Gi back on, he ate breakfast and left the building, finding Vegeta and Gohan. "Hey, guys!"

Gohan cheerfully waved at him, and Vegeta nodded. "Kakarot, the gods are working on getting things back to normal. We haven't heard anything from Omesus, Zateus, or Abysus since."

"It'll take some time for the rift to heal between the gods and them," Goku reminded him. "I'm concerned about what the repercussions will be since I killed those Guardians. Vegeta, you need to start catching up to me."

"Well, it won't be easy, but I know what to do next," the prince stated.

"What about the dead angels?"

"They were resurrected earlier today," Vegeta confirmed. "Something's wrong with Beerus, but I can't blame him, considering he learned about his father."

Goku frowned, feeling bad that he hadn't thought to comfort him yesterday. "I see... Anything about Frieza?"

The prince shook his head. "Nobody knows, but if that shithead ever shows his face here again, not even the Super Dragon Balls will be able to resurrect him after I'm through with him."

Goku raised his fist, clenching it tightly. "Things are just beginning. There'll be no warning if those Guardians show up, or even the Overlords."

Vegeta crossed his arms. "With your Stage Three power, you'd be able to hold your own against them. It did come from Zalama."

"I'm not so sure about that, Vegeta," the Saiyan replied. "While Stage Three's the most powerful form I've ever used by far, even far surpassing all the gods of this multiverse, Zalama himself told me I need to master it. For all we know, these Overlords could be far above my level."

"Whatever the case, I'll surpass you once again, even if I have to train for ten thousand years," Vegeta said, raising his fist. "I have an idea of how to surpass Super Saiyan White."

Goku grinned at his response. "I'll be looking forward to it! Zeno's guards are the closest thing I have to a rival right now. It isn't the same, though."

Vegeta turned around, keeping an expressionless face. "Where did you last see Whis?"

"I saw him on Beerus's planet," Goku replied, and the prince yelled, black lightning flaring around him. He entered Super Saiyan White, the terrain shaking. "What the heck are you doing, Vegeta?"

"I'm going to fly there," he simply stated, taking off. In less than a millisecond, he was out of the planet's atmosphere and flying through the Solar System. A bead of sweat appeared on the side of Goku's face. "But that's on the other side of the universe..."

Frieza flew across the galaxy on his ship, exhausted from the war against Qhuteus. "Damn them... Damn all of them! I could sense that monkey's presence from across the universe... He's ascended far beyond even that colorful Omni brat!"

Unknowingly, a force took hold of his ship and sent it flying toward a nearby planet. "Training alone isn't going to suffice anymore, but nobody except those monkeys and gods can challenge me!"

He had been drifting aimlessly for hours now, trying to get in contact with his rebuilt empire. Unfortunately, the ship's communication system was damaged because of the war.

He descended upon the lifeless planet, exiting the ship. He looked around before sensing a potent energy that outclassed him. His eyes widened as he took a step back. "Wh... What the?!"

It vaguely resembled his own. He flew toward it, soaring over a rocky landscape. It was completely barren and lifeless. It didn't take long until he found a cave. "This is Lord Frieza! Show yourself!"

His response was a deep chuckle that sent chills down his spine. He growled and powered up, his base aura acting as a light source and defense. He walked forward, heading deeper into the cave.

The eerie silence left him on guard, and he wondered if it was a situation similar to when he found Broly on Planet Vampa. Even if it was, he was not about to make the same mistake and rely on another Saiyan monkey to fight for him.

Soon, he ran into a tall figure that towered over him. "Who the hell are you? Answer me or I will obliterate your miserable existence!"

The figure opened its eyes, its gaze piercing into Frieza's and unnerving the emperor. "Emperor Frieza, son of King Cold and brother of Cooler. I've heard stories about you, little one. Once the dominant force in the universe, but reduced to nothing by a mere Super Saiyan..."

A tick mark appeared on the Frost Demon's head as he raised a finger, charging a Death Beam. "I would choose your next words very carefully. Perhaps you have a death wish to talk down to me."

The figure got up, slowly approaching Frieza. "Cute, you remind me of myself back when I was young."

It had spikes, a long tail, and gems all over its body. Frieza's jaw dropped when he realized what it was. It's... a Frost Demon?!

The Frost Demon chuckled, whipping his tail against the ground. "I've been waiting to meet you. My name is Qube... I am the king of your race."

Frieza remembered Omesus mentioning this name mid-battle. According to him, Qube was sentenced to erasure by the Grand Priest. "How are you alive...? You're over a billion years old! That's impossible!"

Qube smirked. "It is possible for one of our kind to live forever if they are willing to do something as cruel as birthing a child just to absorb its life force. I've done it for eons now. You see, little did Zateus know, I survived his attack."

Zateus stopped himself, bleeding, before he yelled and powered up. He combined White Divine energy with Destruction energy, creating True Destruction.

He shot forward, nailing Qube in the stomach with a punch and sending him flying back. "AGHH!"

Zateus charged a full-power blast, shaking the entire universe. "True Hakai!" He fired it, a massive white beam slamming into Qube, and he yelled, flying into the nearest star once again, and it began to erupt.

The Grand Priest poured all of his power into it, and it became even bigger, causing the entire star to explode in a supernova.

The emperor's jaw dropped as he heard Qube's brief explanation of his backstory. "You… How did you survive that attack?!" he asked.

Qube smirked, before letting out a hearty laugh. "I almost didn't. In fact, the only thing left of my body was my head and torso, and the only thing keeping me alive was my will. I was able to recreate my body using spare parts."

Now that he mentioned it, Frieza noticed how mechanical his body looked. It was very similar to the time he became Mecha Frieza, but the technology on the king seemed to be a lot more advanced than his was back then.

Frieza regained his composure as he charged a Death Beam again. "Well, since the gods couldn't end you, I'll put you out of your misery. You annoy me."

He launched it, but it bounced off the king's chest, much to his shock. Qube walked up to him and glared down at him, grabbing his arm and slamming him against the wall. "I must commend you for your audacity, but I wouldn't do that again if you value your life. I will admit you're close to my pupil's level, though."

Frieza leaped back, preparing to fight him. "You have a pupil?"

Qube snapped his finger, and a figure came out of the shadows. Their identity made Frieza take a step back in shock.

It was Cooler, his brother. Cooler strutted up to him, his arms crossed. "If it isn't my little brother. I've heard father is long dead?"

The emperor's body twitched in rage. "Cooler! You dare have the audacity to show your face to me?!"

His brother laughed. "Ah, there's the little brat I remember. You haven't changed, always the one spoiled by your daddy. You didn't have to do anything, and you had an entire empire handed to you."

In an instant, he grabbed Frieza's arm and slammed him on the ground with a lot of force, cracking it. "Nearly two years ago, I discovered this planet and decided to ask Qube to train me so I could one day kill you. Let's take this battle outside, shall we?"

He kicked Frieza across the cave, sending him spiraling outside. He grunted, skidding across the ground. Qube followed them as Frieza yelled, entering his golden form. He leaped forward and clashed with his brother, sending the surrounding terrain exploding.

He grunted, kneeing Cooler in the gut, but his brother took it, unphased. He chuckled before slamming his elbow into Frieza's head, sending him spiraling toward the ground. "Is that all you have to offer? I'm disappointed."

The emperor got up, shocked that his brother was unphased in his base form alone. "Is that so... Then I won't hold back!" He yelled as he entered his platinum form, going full power. The entire planet shook as the terrain shifted.

In an instant, he nailed Cooler in the face with a powerful punch that sent him flying back. Frieza ran forward and launched multiple Death Beams that Cooler dodged, struggling. "What kind of form is that?"

Qube watched on, intrigued. The emperor leaped up and went to slam his foot into Cooler's chest, but his brother vanished away just in time. His foot connected with the ground, creating a colossal crater visible from space.

His brother grinned as he yelled, entering his fifth state. A mask covered his mouth. Before Frieza could react, he launched the emperor across the atmosphere. Frieza coughed up spit, wanting to deny everything that was happening to him. Even in his new form, he stood no chance against his outcast of a brother.

In the corner of his eye, he saw Qube smirking at him. Enraged, he launched himself over to the Frost Demon King, slamming a kick into his chest. It connected, but he didn't budge. "Try that again, and things won't end well for you, child. I've been training for millions of years."

Frieza leaped back, sweat going down his face. "Shit... These two outclass me!"

He tried to fly off, but Cooler intervened by vanishing in front of him and simply chopping him down to the ground. The emperor fell out of his form, panting. Suddenly, his eyes widened as he felt a Death Beam pierce his chest.

Frieza closed his eyes, losing consciousness. Cooler towered over him, prepared to kill him, but Qube stopped him. "There's no point in killing one of our kind, as we are far and few these days. I see potential in that little one. He reminds me of myself back in my glory days."

Despite his utter hatred for his brother, Cooler reluctantly obliged, lowering his hand. "What are your plans for him?"

Qube grinned, walking up to Frieza and picking him up by the arm. "I will train him as well. Perhaps he will be able to do what I couldn't and take over the multiverse."

Beerus sat on a rock on his planet, thinking to himself. Ever since he learned about who his father was and the truth about the all-time greatest threat to the gods, he had been keeping to himself.

He sat for hours on end, replaying the events of the war and the backstory in his head repeatedly. It was overwhelming for him.

Shortly after becoming the God of Destruction, he had to make the most difficult decision he had ever made, and that was to destroy Planet Sufinkusu—his homeworld. Many years ago, a cult worshiping Zydis took over the planet in his name. They were nothing more than a bunch of corrupt, powerful nobodies.

One day, Beerus made the mistake of telling the people of the planet what happened to the former god, not knowing he was really his father. Outraged, the cult grew and started planning ways to destroy the gods for taking their own.

Seeing there was no way to convince them otherwise, Whis informed him, and, with tears in his eyes, he had to use the Hakai to erase the entire civilization. He killed his own relatives, his mother, and everybody he knew.

To this day, he regrets his decision. He wanted nothing more than for it to return to normal, but it was impossible. Even if he used the Super Dragon Balls, they would be the same as when he destroyed them.

Eventually, once Beerus and Champa retire and pass on, their species will be extinct for good. There was no possibility of keeping his bloodline alive, but he had learned to accept that fact by now.

As he sulked, he heard footsteps behind him and saw Whis looking at him with concern in his eyes. "My lord, what troubles you?"

Beerus tried to play it off and muttered. "It's nothing, just enjoying the peace and quiet."

The angel's expression remained unchanged. "I know when you're being dishonest with me, my lord. Are you thinking about him?"

Beerus didn't respond for a full minute before he sighed. "Not just him, but... everybody. My entire race. My mother..." He tries to keep his composure. "I was too weak to do anything in the war."

Whis walked over and placed a hand on the god's shoulder. "You've unlocked a power no other destroyer has, my lord. Unlocking White Divine energy is no small feat, you know."

Despite his words, Beerus didn't feel any comfort. Whis smiled. "Goku and Vegeta remind you of her, don't they?"

He slowly nodded. "My mother loved to fight. It's an anomaly that she wasn't born into a Saiyan body. No matter what, she had the will to keep fighting. She had a fiery temper at one moment, yet was kind and gentle at another. She single-handedly took down an entire army in one war. She's the one that inspired me to go this far."

He looked up at the sky, unable to resist the tears building up in his eyes. "Everything for me was perfect when I took on this role, but then I had to eliminate my own people. Now Champa and I are the only ones left."

"You may one day meet your father," Whis said, making him pause before replying. "I never knew him. He perished when I was an infant, most likely."

He cleared his throat, wiping his eyes. "Well, anyway... That's enough talk about me. Anything about those mortals?"

"They're currently residing in Universe Nineteen," the angel stated. "We've heard little from them, but they have stopped suppressing their energies to no longer hide their presence. We're still keeping a close eye on them, though. Not entirely sure if we can trust them yet."

Suddenly, they sensed a powerful energy close by as Vegeta landed on the planet, powering down from Super Saiyan White. Beerus's jaw dropped when he saw him. "When did you get here? Did... Did you fly all the way here from Earth?!"

The Saiyan nodded casually, crossing his arms and walking up to them. "Whis, I need a favor from you. I need you to take me to them."

Whis's eyes widened. "Are you sure, Vegeta? It could be dangerous, and we don't know if we are able to trust them. But contrary to that, Father hasn't ordered us to stay away from them, so I will."

The prince nodded. "I'm ready. I want to speak with them myself." The angel nodded and tapped his staff, creating a portal in front of them to Universe Nineteen. Vegeta walked through and looked around, now in a dimly lit palace.

He looked up to see a dying universe, squinting. "This is far from desirable. Have they lived here all these years?"

Vegeta walked through the main hall of the palace before a figure landed in front of him, getting into a stance. "What do we have here? An intruder?"

He looked up to see Abysus glaring down at him, prepared to attack, but a voice stopped him. "That's enough, Abysus."

The prince looked over to see Zateus sitting on a throne, with Omesus standing next to him. He got up and walked forward, strolling up to Vegeta. "What brings you here to our universe, Saiyan?"

"I'm not here to attack you, if that's what you're wondering," Vegeta stated. "I need a favor from the two of you."

Omesus, intrigued, walked forward as well, crossing his arms. "Why would you need a favor from us, Vegeta? Aren't we your enemies?"

"Former enemies," the prince corrected. "Besides, there are far bigger problems than our conflicts. Kakarot is in danger, and I need to catch up to him."

Zateus dropped his guard. "Are you... asking us to train you?"

"That's exactly what I'm asking," Vegeta confirmed. "I want to learn the powers you possess, including the new transformation Omesus has yet to perfect. I also wish to learn how to utilize Destruction energy. Based on the backstory, Omesus knew how to train for it, just not to tap into it."

"That's a rather bold favor to ask, don't you think?" Omesus replied. "Why should we help you?"

"Because you owe it to us after endangering the multiverse," Vegeta replied, and they fell silent at this statement. "Besides, those Guardians are the least of our worries. Qhuteus is still out there, more powerful than ever, and so are those Overlords. I don't know how strong they truly are, but they could possibly even defeat Kakarot in his Stage Three form."

"I'm still curious as to why Zalama chose this multiverse out of every other," Zateus chimed in, tapping his chin. "Surely there is a reason, or could it be based on dumb luck? Whatever the case, very well, I'll train you."

Omesus thought about it before he sighed. "Fine. I am curious about your potential, Vegeta. I wish to know just how much we truly differ. Perhaps you could surpass even me. I just have one condition, though."

He grinned. "Bring that Saiyan Broly as well."

To Be Continued in Chapter Forty-One

Qube is still alive, Cooler is his disciple, and now Frieza will train under him! More of Beerus's backstory, and Vegeta is now going to train under Omesus and Zateus! I hope you enjoyed this latest chapter!

I haven't updated this fanfic since December, which is a long time—almost a year. Me and a friend of mine have been focusing our attention on a crossover story called Calamitous Intervention. It's helped me significantly improve at writing. This chapter was actually made back in December, but I never ended up publishing it for some reason. I made some improvements to it, though. The way I write has changed.

Just know that updates to this story for the foreseeable future will be very slow since my main focus is my current fanfiction, which is a very long story.
