So...This story is not part of my Neozoic Tales Universe though I have been thinking about the possibility givng Enna a cameo as one of Leonardo's pupils but it is eactly because of that reason that this story is a nice little 'what-if' something I have a bit more freedom compared to the much more strict plot of the Neozoic Tales, and comparing this tale to it's earlier version I feels obvious now I should have had the Mutant in question have mind trap since it is so similar to Scarecrow's fear gas which would give him a reason to want the mutant under his control, but hindsight is 20/20

also this story was good practive for a new story I have planned in the Neozoic Tales which features a Psychic Mutant's relationship with another cute redheaded character 'Cough! Glass Joe! Cough!'

Everyone froze for a moment and stared at the imposing figure of Batman in the doorway as he scowled at everyone

"All right..." He said as he stepped into the cabin "...What is going on here?!" He turned to the Turtles "Are you aiding and abetting these criminals?"

But the sudden loud noise caused Enna to wake up, she peeked out of the private bedroom, as she rubbed her eyes she weakly said "Father...What is..."

"Get back to bed Enna!" Jonathan barked sharply "Now!"

Enna quickly saw what he meant and ducked back into the bedroom, she was still to weak to use mind trap.

Batman turned, and seemed have an eyebrow raised under his cowl "Father?"

And Jonathan knowing he had no better option, got down on his knees "Please Batman! Let me explain! The Otter-Child Enna...She has a psychic ability similar to my fear gas, and that is why I took her in, I freely admit I wanted her under my control, to harness her talent and possibly mould her into my apprentice...But in the act of caring for the child under the pretense of pretending to be on her side I...Came to believe my own words...Enna charmed me with her sweetness, humor and strengh of character, she had been through more than you could possibly imagine but in spite of it all she did not turn bitter...It's strange...An animal is more human than I am."

Batman was quiet then said "I remember a previous time you tried to reform, there was a girl you cared about that time too..."

Jonathan took a deep shivering sigh "Yes, yes Batman I remember that all too well! I admit I still have problems Batman, I may have to return to Arkham but..."He hiccuped a bit "This time I'm willing to actually work on getting better! Last time I simply escaped and fled upstate with a false indetity...This time I'm willing to reform the right way...Because I realized I really do want to adopt Enna and become her Father! She needs help Batman! She needs someone her understands her!"

And that made Batman think, her remembered Ace, the young Psychic Human Girl, how he was there for her as she died so she would destroy Gotham with a Psychic blast as she passed, Batman rubbed his chin with thought...This was the most sincere he had ever heard Crane sound...Maybe there was a real connection between these two...This time a poor psychic girl could have a happy ending.

Jonathan quickly removed his fear gas gloves "The young...Terrapin Boys...They were helping me in rescuing Enna when the lab that created her recaptured her, I...Enlisted Mad Hatter and Riddler's aid for good measure."

"Excuse me." Came the voice of Borden Willis who had kind of been like a gray shadow, he had been hardly noticed "...But I'm the one responsible for Enna's creation along with all her sibling's I probobly deserve some punishment as well, but I got ousted from my own company and I was trying to enlist help to save my poor creatures before they get vivisected or worse! I was originally trying to get the Turtles but I ended up getting three rogues as well...Please Batman let us discuss Enna's future later right now we do have something more dangerous we need to take care of, Mutants I didn't create have also escaped! The Terror Bears!"

And bringing back the urgentcy to get the plot moving again, I'm not quite sure if Mad Hatter and Riddler want to become 'Uncle Jervis' and 'Uncle Edward' but given Edward's reflections in the last chapter...
