Bruce watched as the rest of the team began planning their time heist. He walked away to the bathroom, his shirt covered in grease after Scott had accidentally threw his tacos when Rhodey scared him.
"Gross!" Bruce muttered as he began to dab away at the stains. He looked up into the mirror admiring the somewhat cleaner shirt. His eyes traveled up and met his own brown eyes.
Suddenly he was falling down a pit. Deeper into his own subconscious.
Berfore Bruce was a giant door its outlines glowing green. In bright black letters across the door: LEVE HULK ALON!
Bruce reached tenderly for the door and knocked.
"Leave me alone!" came the Hulk's roar knocking Bruce into the ground.
"Please Hulk, we need your help." Bruce said rising up and moved to the door.
"No!"
"Damn it, Hulk stop acting like a child!" Bruce screamed.
"Bruce hate Hulk-" Hulk roars.
"Of course I do." Bruce finally screams at the green door, "You stole two years from me!" Bruce tries to catch his breath.
"Bruce was hurt so Hulk let him sleep to heal like Hulk does." Hulk replied meekly. His answer shocks Bruce. He remembers the battle of Sokovia, he remembers sneaking into Ultron's castle and freeing Nat but she didn't need Bruce, she didn't really want that life together just the hulk. He remembered thinking that as he fell down that pit before becoming the Hulk and then darkness.
Is that what the Hulk felt everytime they switch back? Just darkness perhaps dreams and then awakening to see so much time has past, or was it his normal since it was all he knew.
"I thought you did that to be alone - " Bruce said as he moved toward the green door again.
"Hulk hates being alone but everyone hates Hulk so Hulk wants to be alone." Hulk bellows/sob through the door. Bruce is stopped midway to the door. Bruce recalls the first moment he became the Hulk, the memory is fuzzy like some half awake dream but he still recalls the screams and then the bullets followed by the grenades. Since birth Hulk has been subjected to violence just like...
Bruce as a child cowers in the corner as his father looms over him with his belt held high.
Bruce falls to the ground. "I don't want to remember that", he growls to himself.
Tears clouding his eyes, Bruce places a gentle hand on the green door, "I am so sorry Hulk, I promise you, you won't be alone anymore...we don't have to be alone anymore."
"..."
"Hulk please." Bruce said feeling the tears fall.
The door cracked open.
"Bruce." Nat said tearing Bruce from his mindscape.
Bruce blinked slowly and then faced Nat, "oh hey."
"Scott sent me in to check on you been gone for a while-" Nat notices the tears on Bruce's face. "Are you okay, I don't think Scott threw those tacos on you on purpose."
"Not that." Bruce said wiping the tears away, "I feel...complete."
