Steve looked up at the night sky, searching, waiting.
"You know this is why stars fall out of the sky, right." Rocket said walking up to Steve holding a cup of coffee. Its one of the few things he actually liked Earth for, their coffee, Damn Pete for never coming by this dirt ball.
"I'm waiting for someone." Steve replied crossing his arms.
"Blonde." Rocket said.
"And wields a giant axe." Steve said.
Rocket chuckled, before sighing. "You think he's ready for this type of mission?"
Steve finally looked down from the stars and shared a look with Rocket. He knew what he meant, Thor's always been serious but it was always boosted by a sense of joy and hope but now that hope was gone.
"He'll be here." Steve said.
Half an hour had passed and Rocket was debating whether he should leave or stay when the sky cracked with thunder. Rocket looked up to see Thor come soaring down, Steve smiled.
"Is it complete?" asked Thor as he landed.
Steve nodded, "We're just trying to figure out the best time to get the stones."
Thor turned to Rocket, "Dog."
Rocket almost threw his mug at Thor. "I'm not a dog!"
"Why don't you come in Thor everyone's waiting." Steve said patting his friend on the arm before heading to the door.
Rocket stopped Thor, "I haven't been friends with these people as long as you Thor, but we got a real shot here. We don't need a time bomb on this team."
"You're concern is appreciated dog but I lost -"
"Damn what you lost Thor, the people here have a goal to save everyone, no personal vendettas, no secret missions, one goal- get everyone back." Thor stared down at the Raccoon, he could crush him with his axe or send him hurtling through the atmosphere with a single throw but in Rocket's eyes wasn't anger or condescension but actual concern and sympathy for the Thunder God and it only hurt Thor more.
"You don't have to be worried about me, Rocket." Thor walked past Rocket and into the Avengers Compound.
Rocket sighed deeply, he was half afraid Thor was gonna take his head with stormbreaker. He looked down into his mug and realized it was empty.
"What does a guy got to do to get some coffee!" shouts Rocket as he enters the compound.
