Hikari's eyes shot open and sat up quickly, memories of her conversation with the past ghouls, her family members, flooding into her mind one by one. The headache she felt started to subside and she turned off her alarm. She checked her phone to see the time and sighed. Her alarm was going for 15 minutes before she realized it. Getting up, she quickly dressed and used the bathroom before grabbing an apple. Aoyama and Ojiro exited the spare bedroom, dressed and ready for the morning. Hikari passed them both an apple and the three of them left her house in silence. Once at school, Hikari grabbed Izuku and pulled him to the corner of the classroom.
"I need to talk with you, and All Might ASAP. I experienced something last night that both of you need to hear. Immediately. So, get ahold of him and set up some time today for us to chat."
Izuku nodded hesitantly, "O-Okay. You got it."
Hikari went back to her seat and sat down, not realizing that she had dark circles under her eyes. Feeling exhausted, Hikari closed her eyes and waited for her father to arrive. Soon, the bell rang and her father walked into the door, everyone sitting straight up in their seats. Aizawa went to speak when he noticed Hikari was sound asleep. Sighing, he grabbed a piece of paper, balled it up, and flicked it at her forehead, satisfied when she jolted awake and rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
"Alright. Now that everyone is awake…You will be getting back your Midterm exam grades. Hikari, take these and pass them around."
Hikari nodded and grabbed the stack before passing them around by name. They had taken the Midterms just a bit before going on the trip that the ghouls showed up. Once Hikari finished passing out the Midterm exam scores, she took her seat once more. She glanced at her paper and looked away until the score actually set in. Hikari snapped her head back to her paper and held it up to her face, not expecting the score she saw.
"What?! Gah I hate this shit!"
Aizawa raised an eyebrow but motioned for the class to talk amongst themselves for a bit. Hikari slammed her paper down, stood up, and pointed at Tenya.
"You! Get over here."
Tenya blinked in surprise before getting up and walking over to her desk. He glanced at her paper as she ran her hands through her hair and pulled from the stress. Tenya's mouth opened and shut like a fish, surprised at the score he saw. Everyone seemed to stay silent until Izuku broke it.
"Hikari? Y-You're scaring me. What did you get?..."
"S-She placed 10th…"
Hikari ducked her head, "All of this because of the math portion! You've got to be kidding me! I can't believe this shit! Tenya, you're required to help me study for that!"
Tenya nodded with a salute, "Definitely! I won't let you down!" Rank: 2.
Kaminari started to freak, "I didn't study at all! Between the sports festival and the internship and the forest trip, it totally slipped my mind!" Rank: 21.
Tokoyami nodded, "Indeed." Rank: 15.
Mina laughed. Rank: 20.
Sato spoke to Koda, "Midterms were, well…..We haven't covered much since starting school, so they weren't all that tough…But now we've had all these other events…I think the finals're gonna be much harder." Rank: 13.
Koda nodded. Rank: 12.
Mineta grinned cheekily, "Sucks that there's gonna be a practical exam too." Rank: 9.
Mina pointed at him, "We thought you were one of us!"
Denki agreed, "Guys like you are only lovable when you're morons! There's just no demand for whatever you actually are…!"
Mineta continued smiling, "Such is life…"
Hikari snapped to Mineta before looking up at Tenya with exasperated tears in her eyes, "I made less than Minoru…I never made this low…"
Tenya smiled confidently, "Don't worry! We'll get you back on track in no time! Especially with a strict study regimen!"
Hikari nodded and listened to the other conversations around her. Izuku, enthusiastically, cheered on Kaminari and Mina.
"Ashido, Kaminari! Let's try the best we can! It'd be great if we can all go to the training camp! Right?!" Rank: 4.
Tenya agreed robotically, "Yes!"
Shoto glanced at Kaminari, "Haven't you been attending class? How could you possibly fail?" Rank: 5.
Kaminari held his chest, "Words hurt y'know!"
Yaoyorozu looked at Mina and Kaminari, "You two…If it's academics you need help with, I could lend a hand. The practical exam, on the other hand, is a different story…" Rank: 1.
Shoto shot her a questioning look at her remark, confused why she would think so. Jiro, taking the opportunity, held her paper close and looked at Yaoyorozu.
"I'm not as bad off as them, but…How about help me too? Quadratic functions are kind of tripping me up…" Rank: 7.
Sero placed his arms over his head, "Help me out too! You're good with kanji, right, Yaoyorozu?" Rank: 18.
Ojiro smiled sheepishly and pointed to himself, "Me too." Rank: 8.
Yaoyorozu's eyes sparkled, "Yes! Of course!"
Kirishima looked back at Katsuki with a devilish grin, "That's what virtue looks like." Rank: 16.
Katsuki growled and grit his teeth, "I've got virtue too. I'll tutor you 'til you're dead." Rank: 3.
"Oh? I knew I could count on you!"
Hikari glanced up at her father who only smirked. Her face grew pale, knowing that look all too well.
"Oh God. Dad's gonna do the study training. I'm gonna die."
Tenya raised a curious eyebrow, "Study training?"
"You'll see. He's coming over to tell you."
True to her words, Aizawa walked over to them, catching Tenya's attention, "Ida. I heard that you were going to help her study. In that case, are you free the rest of this week and next to do so every day after school? We'll be having a study training session from now until the exams. We'll meet at the ruined cityscape for training."
Tenya nodded, "I'll gladly help. However, so I'm prepared, what kind of study training do you mean?"
Aizawa smirked again, "As she trains her new kakuja form, you'll be quizzing her on math problems to which she has to get correctly. Incorrectly guessed answers will result in an explanation, new problem, and a training exercise such as combat or push-ups etcetera until she's got them all downpat."
Hikari glanced at Tenya who looked sorry for her, "I'll gladly help."
"Perfect. Everyday, after school, ruined cityscape. Be dressed in your costume."
Tenya nodded as the bell soon rang, signaling the teens to head to their next class. In most of the next classes, Hikari could only focus on half of what was said as her impending doom was fast approaching. She loved her father dearly but sometimes his training methods were a bit excessive. Soon, the bell rang and Hikari headed to lunch, sitting at the table on the other side of Izuku as Tenya took the other. Izuku broke the silence between him, Hikari, Tenya, Shoto, Uraraka, Asui, and Hagakure.
"The academic tests'll just draw from what we learned in class, that's manageable…But the practical? That's scarier, since we have no idea how it'll go…"
Tenya clapped his hands together, "I can't imagine it will consist of anything particularly unusual."
Uraraka spoke up, "So, about the academic subjects being manageable…" Rank: 14.
Hagakure answered her, "It's probably just a comprehensive test of everything from the first semester." Rank: 17.
Asui nodded, "That's all Aizawa Sensei has told us." Rank: 6.
Uraraka looked at Asui, "There was battle training, rescue training…and basic training right?"
Izuku then said, "So in addition to our usual studies, we've got to keep in tip-top physical sh-Ouch!"
He was interrupted by Monoma, "Ah, sorry. My tray just couldn't get around that big head of yours."
Hikari's eye twitched in annoyance as Izuku addressed him, "Uh…You're Monoma from class B, right? How dare you?!"
Monoma merely kept his grin, "I hear you guys ran into the hero killer and those escape prisoners. I guess the sports festival wasn't enough. You keep getting attention with one stunt after another, huh, class A? But now it's looking like that attention isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's starting to get dangerous, right? Pretty scary! I'm just worried that, one of these days, we're all gonna get caught up in some of your antics! Scary…Gah!"
Just then, Kendo chopped him in the neck, just as Hikari had turned around with her kakugan glowing brightly in rage. Who the hell did he think he was? Their classmates almost lost their lives on multiple occasions, and he thought it was a joke? Kendo addressed the overstepping boy.
"That's not funny. Didn't you hear what happened to Ida and Ashido? Sorry, class A. This guy, his hearts just, well…"
Tenya spoke up, "Kendo!"
Izuku was confused, "His heart…?"
Kendo smiled, "I overheard you guys…saying you're not sure about the practical exam. Between you and me, I hear…It'll be a battle against robots, like in the entrance exam."
Izuku exclaimed in shock, "Huh?! Really?! How d'you know that?!"
Kendo smiled more, "I know an older student, who told me. It's a little unfair, I know."
Immediately, Izuku started murmuring, "Not unfair at all! Preliminary intel gathering is just one aspect of the exam. Of course…Why not just ask second-or third-years? Why didn't I think of that?"
Monoma groaned, "Kendo, you fool. We finally had an intel advantage over them! This was our chance to show up the detestable class A…"
Kendo smacked him again as she started to walk away, dragging him behind her with no remorse.
"They're not detestable."
Hikari deactivated her kakugan and sighed before calling Kendo back over, "Kendo wait!"
Stopping, Kendo walked back over to them, still dragging Monoma. Sighing again, Hikari gave her a small smile.
"I was only going to tell my classmates because of obvious reasons but since you gave us an advantage, I want you to know something. I was in the teachers' lounge when my dad and the others were discussing the exams in a meeting next door. They seem to have forgotten that I have ghoul hearing, or they didn't care because it was technically an information gathering test. Anyway…The exams aren't going to be against robots…It's going to be against people. Now, I didn't hear if that meant outside heroes or the teachers themselves but it's against people this year to better account for a wide range of quirks that may not work on robots, such as my erasure. Let your classmates know so everyone can prepare properly."
Kendo smiled widely, "Thank you so much! That's such a game changer!"
Hikari nodded, "You're welcome. And Monoma?"
Monoma glanced up at her. Hikari activated her kakugan and glared at him, causing the boy to have a shiver down his spine.
"Eat shit in the exam."
Monoma went to respond when Kendo dragged him away to tell the remainder of their classmates. Hikari glanced at those around her table.
"Tell everyone else in our class that it's robots. I want to see how they react, so I know who is trying to slack off and who is working hard. I promised dad that I'd keep everyone on track."
Nodding in understanding, her friends agreed to tell the robot story before she revealed the truth. Just then, the bell from the end of lunch rang, causing Hikari to quickly scarf down her bowl of rice. Realizing her kakugan was still active, Hikari let it fade away and rushed to their next class. Once it was towards the end of the day, class 1-A gathered in their homeroom and were dismissed. Izuku made the announcement that the exam would be against robots. Kaminari smiled brightly.
"Robots? Seriously? No sweat!"
Mina raised her arms in joy, "What a relief!"
Shoji glanced at them, "You two really need to dial back your quirks against human opponents, but this way…"
Mina nodded, "Yeah! Against robots, we just let loose for an easy win!"
Sero agreed, "And we're getting tutored for everything else."
Kaminari raised up his arms, "Watch out, summer training camp, cuz here we come!"
Katsuki clicked his tongue at the three, "Humans or robots…I'd just blast 'em all. What's the big deal, morons?"
Kaminari pointed at him, "Who're you calling a moron, moron?!"
Katsuki faced him, "Shaddup. You're the moron who can't even figure out how to dial back his own quirk! Hey! Deku!"
Izuku turned to look at him, not sure what he could've wanted. Hikari got a bad vibe from them and so she turned to be ready to intervene if it went sideways.
"Seems like…you're starting to manage that quirk of yours. Either way…Stop pissing me off with all these stunts."
Uraraka spoke up, "He means…the other day, when Deku…was moving around like Bakugo."
Mina perked up, "Oh, you're right!"
Katsuki continued, "I'm not looking for some hollow victory, like at the sports festival! When it comes to our term grades…like it or not, I'm gonna crush you into dust! I'll open the gulf between us so wide…It'll kill you dead! You too, Todoroki!"
With that, he turned and left the classroom, slamming the door shut behind him. Hikari frowned, he hadn't even stuck around to tell her goodbye, let alone hear what she knew about the exams. Kirishima scratched the back of his neck.
"Haven't seen Bakugo so serious in a while…"
Tokoyami agreed, "Is it uneasiness? Or sheer hatred?"
Hikari sighed and gathered the attention of her classmates, "Hey! I have to tell you all something important…The exams aren't against robots. It's against people. I don't know who exactly, but I know it's against heroes of some sort. For those of you, Mina and Denki, who were looking for an easy way out, cut that shit out and try your damndest to be amazing heroes in the exams and out in the world. There's no room for slackers. Got that?"
Everyone immediately started to plan ways to pass with this suddenly terrifying information. Mina and Kaminari grew guilty for a moment before both of them perked up at her encouragement. That being said, Hikari frowned and left the classroom after telling everyone except Tenya goodbye. Tenya followed her out of the room and watched as she took out her phone and called Katsuki. The line rang for longer than she thought it would before the boy picked up.
"What."
Hikari stopped in her tracks, "I…Are you okay? I wanted to tell you that the exam is against people…I overheard it the other day…"
"I'll strategize later."
"...You didn't answer my question.."
"I'm pissed off! One at Deku and the other at the Four-Eyed bastard!"
"What? What did Tenya do?"
"Nothing! You asked him to help you study when I'm more than capable of helping you!"
"You're joking…right?"
"Why would I be fucking joking, Hikari?!"
"Katsuki, he knows my study habits and he's the only one that explains the math problems in a way I can remember and understand! Remember, I tried learning from you before and I couldn't grasp it!"
"Whatever! Just go pick the brain of that bastard and leave me alone!"
Hikari tried her best to ignore the pang in her chest as the line ended. Tenya placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Are you alright? Your body language changed…"
"I'm fine…Dad, why are you standing around a corner?"
Aizawa rounded the corner and tilted his head to the side, "I was waiting for you to leave so that we could start your training…"
Aizawa paused for a moment as he noticed the badly hidden pained look behind his daughter's eyes. She was in no way shape or form, ready for studying or training. His eyes softened lightly as he glanced away.
"However, I realize that I have something that I have to do for a few hours. We'll start the study training tomorrow afternoon. I'll see you later."
Hikari nodded and watched her father turn to leave towards the teachers' lounge. Tenya smiled and tilted his head to the side.
"Then I will also see you later. If you need me, please call."
She smiled softly, "Okay…See you later…"
Tenya then turned and left, heading home to spend time with his family and to call and check up on his brother. Hikari went to leave when Izuku quickly exited the classroom and almost knocked into her.
"Sorry Hikari! All Might just got back to me and he's free at the moment to talk with us. He wants to meet in the meeting room across the hall from the teacher's lounge."
Hikari sighed softly, "Alright. Let's go."
The two teens hurried to the meeting room where the thin frame of Toshinori sat on a lone chair across from the two-person sofa. Hikari sat down with Izuku and looked at All Might with a seriousness in her eyes.
"Did you happen to find anything on the two brothers having a sister?"
All Might shook his head no, "I have not. It's not documented from what I can tell. Why?"
Hikari glanced at Izuku, "Do you remember how you told us about the fog and how it felt like you saw the past users of One For All? When you fought Shinso?"
Izuku nodded. Hikari continued.
"I saw that but more."
Hikari turned her attention to All Might, fully catching his attention at her words. He waited patiently, wanting to know just what she was getting at.
"I met the sister of One For All and All For One. Her name is Juno Shigaraki. She told me a lot of information that…that warrants the fact that I believe my dad needs to be informed about everything One For All and All For One related…and before you freak out, here's why….Juno told me that my quirk…the ghoul quirk…is the original one. Juno is my grandmother. Ya know how One For All is passed down by willing consumption of DNA? Well, my quirk is passed down by offspring. There are five past users. Juno, her son Homura, his daughter Asami, her son Hiroki, and his daughter and my mother, Anastasia. When I have kids, they'll get my ghoul quirk and whatever their father's quirk is. That being said, she said that every generation ghoul has a second quirk like I have erasure. Juno being the obvious exception. Basically, I'm going to unlock all of their second quirks and I don't want to fuck up and dad can help…..I explained that horribly and there's much more information but I'm still freaked out and yeah….Can we loop in dad?..."
All Might opened and closed his mouth like a fish until he quickly stood up, exited the room, opened the room next door and proceeded to yell for Aizawa. Annoyed by the loud man, Aizawa followed him into the next room and took a seat next to him after All Might shut the door and locked it. He took a seat and turned to Aizawa.
"So, we need to loop you into some things because now, it directly affects your daughter. My quirk is called One For All and I can pass my quirk on to a successor. I picked Midoriya and have already started the process of the transfer, which is why he has a quirk and why it used to hurt him severely because it was never originally his. One day, hopefully very far off, he will face a man named All For One, which I'm sure you remember being mentioned when we captured Anastasia all those years ago. The original wielder of One For All was the brother of All For One and the quirk was forced onto him. He has cultivated it throughout the generations to bring down his brother's quirk and thus, I passed it down as well. However, I never knew the two brothers had a sister. I only knew that All For One is the reason ghoul quirks exist the way they do. How are you following so far?"
Aizawa blinked at the man before glancing at Izuku, "That explains why he went from quirkless to destructive. I see the reasoning and rationality of passing it down from its history. However, what do you mean he's the reason ghouls exist?"
All Might stopped and scratched his chin in thought, "Um…Well, I can't really explain it that well.."
Hikari sighed, "Just let me explain everything. Juno told me the origins so I have a better understanding. Dad, I can't explain how it works, but I met Juno in my subconscious. She said that All For One gave her a quirk, which was the original ghoul quirk. She had all four types of kagune and unfortunately, it was a mutation quirk. Meaning, it was never meant to be what it was. She ended up finding out the hard way that she had to eat humans to survive. Later on, she found out that she could survive off of suicide jumpers and just dead bodies in general so that's how she survived. All For One saw how dangerous her quirk was and how rapidly it grew, so he took some of her RC cells and with the help of a doctor, cultivated more ghoul organs to put and transfer to people. And before you ask, no the DNA wasn't transferred, just the quirk so I have no relation to any of the ghoul species. He kept making more ghouls until they started having their own kids with the quirk. He's also responsible for the ghoul quirk suppression drug so that ghoul women could have babies with normal humans."
Seeing that he had a questioning look in his eyes, Hikari paused and waited for her father to think. Aizawa thought about the information she had given him, understanding how the ghoul population spread so quickly now that he knew the cause. However, he was more confused on how this pertained to Hikari.
"How do you factor in?"
"Well, Juno is my great great great grandmother. All For One passes down from one user to another by willing consumption of DNA. My ghoul quirk is only passed down by inheritance. With each generation, it grows stronger and I was also informed that uh…it kinda brings along some things…"
Aizawa narrowed his eyes, "What kind of things?"
"I…I apparently unlocked other quirks from the past generations. I was told that each past user had a second quirk. Those second quirks will be at my disposal. I've already experienced two of the five I'll get."
"...Which is why you needed me looped into this information so they don't go haywire like Midoriya's quirk did whenever he used One For All before the internships."
"Exactly. From what they told me, I will get the other three kagunes from Juno in the next few weeks. I know for a fact they can be destructive and very different to use, not to mention difficult. It'll probably enhance my strength and healing even more but I have no way of knowing right now."
"Alright. We'll handle that when it gets here. I remember the first time yours appeared and well….you broke quite a few things while you were having a tantrum. I still have the scar from where you bit me a little too aggressively."
Hikari's cheeks heated up in embarrassment before she continued, "Okay. Well, I have already awakened my great great grandfather's quirk which is Cremation Breath. Though, I can only use it in my full kakuja form because when I transform, it automatically activates. Homura told me that I would be able to stop it from automatically activating once I train it more in that form. Then, I'll be able to activate it in any form at will. It's a quirk that can keep your internal temperature up in freezing environments and I can use it for things like fireballs like a dragon. At least, that's what I know so far. I couldn't exactly speak in my mindscape to ask for more details."
Aizawa sighed, "I see. That's why it exhausts you so much to transform when your half-kakuja form doesn't strain you like the full transformation does. I suppose it's good we're training that quirk starting tomorrow."
Hikari nodded, "Exactly my thoughts as well. The third quirk is called Future Flash and it's from Homura's daughter Asami, my great grandmother. Future Flash works a bit differently from Nighteyes ability. I only get small flashes of the future when I make direct contact with someone and I concentrate. I can see and hear small situations and once I train it, I'll be able to tell quick and small details about a fight or battle and can act accordingly with no surprises coming to me. However, overuse causes severe migraines. I kinda unlocked it the other day when sparring with Izuku. Asami said I unlocked her quirk when I made contact with Izuku when One For All was active. Oh, and All Might, none of them explained why I felt One For All in my arm so I'll have to try and ask next time if I can."
All Might hummed in understanding before Aizawa spoke next, "We'll experiment with it tomorrow and see if you can trigger it yourself."
"Right. Good thinking. The more I can control, the better. And, the less likely they are to go crazy. Next, Hiroki, my grandpa and moms dad, had a second quirk called Teleport. Though, I think you already know that dad. I don't know anything about it aside from being told it's got a time limit between teleports and it's stamina based. I haven't unlocked that one yet and I was told that the first time I do, it may not be pretty because I could end up teleporting anywhere the first time."
Aizawa nodded, "I know more information about it from Anastasia's parents but I'll find out more information later through some records. I'm assuming the next quirk you'll get is Domain from Anastasia and technically your grandmother Ryoiki. In that case, I can look for those records as well."
Hikari nodded but frowned, "Why didn't you ever tell me that she had a second quirk?"
Aizawa sighed, "Because she never mastered it. She never really understood it so she never used it. I don't know if that's the case now but it was many years ago. Did they say anything else about all of this?"
Hikari replayed the conversations in her head before she remembered that Juno, Homura, and Asami warned her about using more than two quirks at once. She glanced at All Might and Izuku before meeting her father's eyes.
"Well….they called your erasure quirk a blessing and a curse for me to have. Because of it, when I go to master these quirks, I can only ever use two quirks at one time. For example, when I'm in my full kakuja transformation, I can't use your erasure. It wouldn't let me as if it were a safeguard. Juno and the other two said that if I use more than two quirks at one time, my erasure will backfire and cause me to be completely quirkless for at least an hour. It's as if my body will protect itself with erasure from overloading itself. So, when we go to train, I can't use more and two and if I do, I'll have to wait until I can train again. This is why it's so important for me to master these quirks. If I don't and I accidentally end up using three in a fight with a villain, that's it. I could die. It literally erases everything, even my healing factor, so we really have to discipline it and I know it won't be a walk in the park."
After taking in everything she told him, Aizawa looked at All Might, noticing the man was nervous from her explanation. Izuku looked as if he were taking down everything mentally, no doubt to use it in his hero notes later for her benefit and his own. Getting an idea, Aizawa addressed all three of them.
"I have an idea and it seems only the most rational route. All Might, you and Midoriya should train with us every day until the exams. Since Hikari and Midoriya are connected by these quirks, they may interact more whether it's in training or in a real battle and I'd much rather be able to control the situation than have it end badly. We'll use the ruined cityscape for now until we see the need for other areas to train. I feel it would benefit both of them."
All Might thought about his idea and nodded enthusiastically, "Sounds Plus Ultra! Let's do it!"
Izuku and Hikari shared a look that meant they were definitely in for some hardcore training. Hikari quickly looked at her father.
"What about Tenya coming to help me with math? He needs to train too, remember?"
Izuku hesitated, "I could help. I'm pretty good at math and I'm sure he'd understand if you mention this was set up by All Might and Aizawa Sensei for your benefit."
She bit her lip, feeling a bit guilty about it all but nodded, "Alright. I'll call him later and tell him. What…What about Katsuki? He's gonna question why I'm blowing him off if he asks to hang out this week or next."
Aizawa glanced at her, "Tell him that I'm making you train nonstop. Paint me as the bad guy and I'll handle his attitude on the subject."
Sighing, Hikari accepted his request, "Okay…Are…we starting the training tomorrow?"
All Might and Aizawa shared a look before looking at the teens, "Suit up. We're going now."
Hikari quickly left with Izuku to head to their respective dressing areas. She dressed in her hero costume and took out her phone, dialing the number she had memorized. After it rang twice, a confused Tenya answered.
"Hikari? Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, everything's alright. Though, I wanted to let you know that dad changed up my studying and training. He wants me to study and train with All Might and Izuku….I know you were supposed to help me with the math but dad switched things up on me. I'm sorry Tenya. I know you were excited to help me out…"
Tenya laughed lightly, "That's quite alright. Given the chance to train with them, I would take the offer as well. I promise, it's alright. Thank you for letting me know. I'll see you at school, Kari."
Hikari smiled as her anxiety about the situation disappeared. That is, until she saw Katsuki's contact in her phone and a frown overtook her features. Sighing, she pressed his contact and placed the phone to her ear. It rang once and then was sent straight to voicemail. She ignored the pang in her chest and waited for the tone.
"Katsuki, don't just send me to voicemail, dammit. I was calling to tell you that Tenya isn't helping me study anymore. Dad and All Might are training me and Izuku is helping with the math problems. I know that probably doesn't sound better to you but get the fuck over it. Instead of being pissy at me for petty shit, grow up. Call me when you decide to think for a minute."
Hikari ended the voicemail and ended the call, her heart thumping heavily in her chest. Why would he just send her to voicemail like that? What the hell was going on with him? And why didn't he talk to her? He's always going on about how she should talk to him when things go wrong but here he was, doing the complete opposite of what he preached. Shaking her head, Hikari put her phone away and met up with Izuku, All Might, and her father. They made their way to the ruined cityscape by one of the buses. During the ride, Hikari said nothing and replayed the conversation with Katsuki over and over again. Sensing something was up, Aizawa took the seat next to her and bent down to whisper to her.
"Everything alright?"
"...Not really…but I'll manage. Katsuki's pissed off over something trivial and I don't know why he's all of a sudden become a loose cannon."
"I would say talk to him but judging from your presence, I'd say he sent you to voicemail. I'm….not really the best when it comes to this but maybe try getting him to spar with you? He may get all of his anger out and talk that way."
"Maybe….I'll try later. Let's just focus on this training."
Shouta debated on whether to press her further but decided against it. She had a lot on her plate at the moment and with his newfound information about Izuku and All Might, he had plenty on his own to worry about. Hikari stared at the seat ahead of her and contemplated on how she would figure out Katsuki's problem, only for her to realize that he never really shared his thoughts and feelings with anyone but her. Her eyes looked up as the bus finally arrived at the ruined cityscape. She stepped off of the bus and stretched before looking at her father and All Might for further instruction. Izuku followed her lead and did the same.
"All Might, I believe we should start with an explanation. You two will be given math questions. I expect each of you to work on them. You get them wrong, we start a training exercise based on how many you've missed and to what degree you failed them. We'll be doing this for every subject but only one subject a day. Once we've gone through them all, we'll focus on the ones you need the most help in. Sound reasonable enough?"
Hikari and Izuku nodded in sync, both ready for what they've got in store. All Might handed them each a piece of paper with multiple math questions lining it. Hikari paled at seeing they were all of the questions she knew she got wrong in the midterms. Hesitating, they took the pencils offered to them and began to work diligently. Soon, both teens finished their papers and handed them to Aizawa who looked them over. He may not be a math teacher but he knew their curriculum through and through enough to lecture it into them. Aizawa cracked a smirk at seeing Hikari had gotten 3 out of 10 whereas Izuku had gotten 9 out of 10. He looked away from the papers and focused on the teens.
