Evelina chewed nervously on a finger nail while looking at her phone hooked up to a device. She was in a safe room with five people who kept staring at her. She only knew Santos and he was sitting right next to her.
"What if he doesn't call?" Evelina asked.
"If you're good enough in bed, he'll call," Zelina said.
"Zelina!" Santos snapped his fingers. "He'll call. He kept you around long enough to make at least one phone call to tell you goodbye. Just keep him talking."
Evelina's phone started ringing and everyone stared at it. It was an unknown number calling but they all knew who it was. Santos leaned over it to press the green button and put the phone on speaker.
"Finn?" Evelina asked.
"Are they sitting next to you?" Finn asked.
Evelina looked at Santos who nodded in return. Of course Finn knew what was happening. There was no point in lying.
"Yes," Evelina said.
"Damn it!" Finn growled. "Look, I never wanted it to go down like this. Someone leaked the information that they were on their way and I had to run fast."
"Why didn't you take me with you?" She asked.
"I..." He sighed. "I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you."
"But you did," she said.
"I gotta go," he said.
"No, wait!" She raised her voice. "You owe me answers, Finn!"
Finn hung up and Evelina let out a sigh. Santos looked over at Joaquin who was in charge of tracing the call.
"We didn't get it," Joaquin said.
"You need to make him stay on the phone longer," Santos said.
"How?" Evelina asked.
"If she could flash him her tits through the phone, that might help," Zelina said.
"Zelina, I have just about had it with you," Santos said. "Go make some coffee and cool off. You don't get to treat Evelina this way."
Zelina stomped off and Santos looked at Evelina again.
"I'm sorry for her behavior," he said.
"It's fine. She's angry with me. I get it. I dated a well known criminal that you've been chasing for what seems like forever without being able to catch him. And your reward was only me. I'm not the one you want," she said.
He placed his hand on top of hers and patted it.
"I used to want you," he chuckled. "Remember the date we went on?"
"I remember," she said.
"You broke my heart when you didn't want to go out with me again," he said.
Santos looked over at the three men from his team who clearly didn't know about them having been on a date.
"What happened?" Raul asked.
"I don't know," Santos answered. "What did happen, Evelina?"
"I wasn't feeling it," Evelina shrugged. "I only went out with you because your friends pressured me to. I didn't have feelings for you."
"Then why did you sleep with me?" Santos asked.
"Damn! On a first date? My college dates never went that far on a first date," Joaquin said.
"Yeah, we went to this famous make out spot and watched the stars while lying on a blanket. It was very romantic although the ground was a bit hard to have sex on, but we managed," Santos smirked. "Didn't we, Evelina?"
Evelina's phone started ringing again and everyone went quiet. Once again it was an unknown number. Santos leaned over it to answer and put it on speaker.
"Finn?" Evelina asked.
"My love," Finn said.
"Finn, please," she whispered.
"I never meant to hurt you," he said.
"But you did," she said. "Did you ever love me?"
Finn went quiet for a long time. Way too long. Everyone was looking around at each other. If it wasn't for his heavy breathing, they would have thought he had hung up. Santos looked at Evelina and she tried saying Finn's name a couple of times. After a little over a minute, he finally spoke again.
"I have never loved anybody the way I love you," Finn said. "When I met you, everything suddenly made sense. You are my sun, my moon and my stars. My world revolves around you. You are my light and my darkness. My day and my night. My everything and more than that. When I'm with you, my life makes sense. I am so sorry for abandoning you like this, Evelina. I will never forgive myself for what I did today. I love you so much but it's too late now. I'm sorry, my love."
Finn hung up and Santos sneered.
"What a poet," Santos said sarcastically.
"We got him!" Joaquin yelled.
"We got him?" Zelina yelled back.
Zelina came running from the kitchen with a grin on her face.
"We gotta move fast," Santos said. "Zelina, stay here with Evelina."
"Can't you stay instead?" Evelina asked.
Evelina's eyes were begging Santos to stay. He looked over at Zelina and then back to Evelina.
"Please!" Evelina whispered. "She scares me."
"I guess I can stay instead," Santos said.
"I prefer taking down big men anyway," Zelina smirked. "Don't worry. We got this. We'll call you the moment he's handcuffed and in the back of the car."
"Fine," Santos nodded. "I'll stay."
