Xiather One shot: I know

Aether sighed, how long had it been since the chasm, How long since Xiao disappeared again, he hoped he'd return so maybe just maybe they could perhaps take a walk anything.

Did he mean anything to.. Aether halted that train of thought and smacked himself.

Just what in tayvet was he thinking of course he meant something.. didn't he? he again smacked his cheeks this time he needed to clear his head as much as he wanted answers.

Aether knew Xiao was most likely busy so it was best not to try and call him as much as he wanted too he refrained taking a deep breath he made his way to a quiet location he'd found sitting down at the base of a large tree he closed his eyes.

Aether didn't know what to feel, from the first moment he saw the adepti to the last moment, Aether put a hand to his chest feeling his heart beat quicken.

His head was full of thoughts he didn't know what to do, he didn't want to think like this it hurt to think this way, he lay down he could feel tears prick the corner of his eyes he didn't need this, he didn't want to feel this way.

Aether didn't know when he fell asleep but when he woke up he found himself being held he didn't know if he should open his eyes so he didn't move.

"Aether.." he heard a familiar voice,"I'm sorry, my duty has always been protecting liyue.. I" there was a pause and a deep breath.

"I wish it was simple enough, I'm just glad that you're okay..and..I.." he felt himself getting held closer and tighter.

"I miss you..i do..you always have this calming presense to you..did you know that.." a soft exhale,"I wish I could stay I really do even just for a few days but I can't.. I know it's been so long and I..I.." he took a deep breath. "I love you..Aether.."

Aether slowly opened his eyes at that,"..I love you too.." he said softly blushing as he looked up into the now blushing Xiao's face.

"When did you.." Xiao sighed,"..Wait.. you.." Aether nodded.

"I love you Xiao.. I..I've been wanting to say it for a long time now..I..was scared..I should've.. told you but I.." he felt tears roll down his face.

Xiao moved a gloved hand to wipe his tears away,"Shh, it's okay.." he leaned down looking into Aether's eyes,"..May I?" he asked voice soft.

Aether nodded and he felt a soft pair of lips on his own Aether felt his heart quicken he kissed back as he was pulled closer the kiss deepening a bit.

They eventually pulled back faces flushed foreheads pressed together, both dared not to speak for the moment.

Xiao broke the silence,"I need to go.. I promise i'll be back, you can call me if you're in danger..anytime..I'll.." he was cut off by a soft kiss.

"I know.." Aether said softly as he pulled back. "I know.." he repeated with a soft smile.

"Now go.. I'll be waiting for you and I love you.."

Xiao stood slowly letting go of aether,"I know.." he repeated back before disappearing in a swirl of ameno butterflies.
