CHAPTER 6
(SERA'S POV)
Sera walked up the spiraling stair case of the Divinations Tower quietly, gripping her satchel she thought,
"I am sorry guys . . ."
She then came upon one of the huge windows on the side of the tower, looking down she saw the Forbidden Forest, Sera's thoughts began to float from her friend's confused look back at the garden to the warm smile of the mysterious man she met last night. Her qualms and uneasiness faded and in place of it was calm and peacefulness, Sera softy smiled,
"I wish it was already the end of the day. . ."
Sera then sighed as she gave the Forbidden Forest one last look and resumed walking up the steps without a second thought. She reached the bead curtain entrance of the Divination Dome, she reached through the lines and slightly parted the curtain, the classroom was in huge, it was light and airy, all around the room was filled with peculiar instruments, most of them were different sizes of magnifying glasses and on one side was a 4 level platforms, on it were round tables with its own respective chair, each decorated with different colored clothes, most of which was velvet, and on top of each table was a glass orb sitting on a small piece of metal, Sera look around and found some students already sitting around the first two levels, Sera silently walked up and sat at a corner table on the third level, as she placed her satchel under the table her gaze fell on the glass orb sitting on top of her table and thought,
"Are we going to learn how to use this?"
Sera looked closer and realized that the glass wasn't clear at all, it suddenly turned murky inside as if a dark storm was brewing, as if in a trance Sera slowly drew closer, the mist was clearing away when suddenly a loud clap brought Sera back to reality, Sera turned to see a frail looking woman standing in front of them, her frizzy hair encompassed her whole figure, wearing large glasses her eyes seemed to have been magnified a hundred times its original size. The young woman smiled and said,
"Welcome, welcome my young students, welcome to Divinations, I am your professor, Miss Sybill Trelawney. We will be dealing with all sorts of spells, instruments and books that will help you progress and open your minds to the heart of Divinations, for it is a useful art to master and have knowledge of."
As she said this walked over towards a table where two hufflepuffs where sitting, she softy put a finger on the a glass orb and smiled,
"Today we will learn the art of Orb Reading, it is one of the simpler tools of Divinations and yet it is complicated to hone in your powers of foresight. You see, in order to see a vision from any form of instrument of Divinations you must first clear your mind, totally wipe your brain free of anything, a clean slate, and then you must focus every fiber of energy in your body to summon a vision may it be from the distant past, or the undefined future, or may better yet be the present. Now, i ask you to face your orbs-"
Sera and the others did so,
"Yes, that's it, now clear your mind from everything, totally block every sound, every memory, and every one around you. And now focus your energy into the orb then look deeply into the heart of the orb."
Sera closed her eyes and pushed away all of her swirling thoughts and calmed herself, once doing so, she opened them and looked directly in the orb, Sera once again saw the murky storm in the orb, she looked deeply still as everything around her vanished and all that is left is the orb that is in front of her. She waited as the storm slowly cleared away...
Draco and the twins lead the way as Nicole and Jeanne kept their hands clasped together, feeling an uneasy feeling shroud them Nicole whispered to Jeanne ever so quietly,
"What do you think we'll find in the library?"
Jeanne's eyebrows furrowed slightly,
"I honestly don't know, Sera was very disturbed and perplexed, seeing her like that is never a good sign."
The two girls knew that among the three of them, Sera was the most level-headed and the most calm and philosophical of them. She never gets upset or angry without a very good reason, it is rare for the two girls to see her like that. Sera had told them to go the library even though she looked like she didn't want them to, its as if she were afraid.
"We're here."
The girls looked up to see two great oak doors with metal straps and linings, on either side of the door was Fred and George looking at them with soft smiles Draco standing slightly in the middle of the doors, Jeanne looked at Nicole,
"Should we really do this?"
it was barely a whisper, Nicole sadly smiled,
"I don't know Jeanne..."
Nicole's eyes were filled with anxiety but Jeanne could detect the hint of curiosity, Draco leaned forward,
"You guy's having second thoughts?"
Jeanne glanced at Draco, then at Nicole, then finally at the huge oak doors that stands before them. Nicole barely registered Jeanne's gaze as her thoughts swirled on the endless possibilities on what Sera has hidden under her sleeve,
"Maybe we shouldn't do this Jeanne"
it was barely a whisper but Jeanne heard it nonetheless, two piercing ice globes fell yet again on Nicole's emerald ones, Jeanne asked,
"Why? Why Nicole? Do you not recall all the other students reactions when they heard our names? Are you not brimming to the edge with the need to know as to why they are afraid?!"
Nicole shifted in her place, considering her words carefully before speaking,
"Jeanne, unknown family history, our family histories practically slapped itself across our faces without us even knowing! Of course I am overwhelmed by this new information, and the possibility that Sera has knowledge of this burns me inside, but we have to be rational and calm about this, why don't we just let this sink in for the day and let us go find Sera and talk about this like we should and as sisters, we go through this together."
Jeanne's eyes soften as every word has sunk in. She didn't like the idea of waiting for answers, but what. Nicole said was true. Jeanne bit her lip and groaned,
"Alright. Lets go find Sera."
Nicole smiled and clasped her and Jeanne's hands together, Jeanne returned it with a small one.
Draco stepped up to the girls and asked,
"Shall we go find her now?"
Jeanne and Nicole looked at each other for a moment, then two huge smiles appeared on their faces and at the same time the two nodded at each other and ran from the library with the three boys running after them.
Sera sucked a breath in, her chest heaving, her eyes, once wide and glazed, was slowly becoming clear, the crystal ball showed her friends and what they said. Moisture brimmed her eyes,
"They are looking for me.. They decided not to go."
Sera thought and smiled, her friends are willing to wait and look for her. Still feeling the effects of nausea from using the crystal ball, Sera let her breath come back to normal pace and once again looked down on the crystal ball, waiting for another vision, as she peered, she felt herself being engulfed once more, she could feel every inch of her sinking in, the mist floating away, Sera could see a face in the orb forming, she peered closer and found that the face had shaggy brown hair up to his chin, his dark eyes warm and soft, his lips form a smile that matched the warmth of his eyes, Sera felt as if he was really in the room instead of being in the glass orb, Sera smiled back, the face belonged to the enigmatic man she met last night, as she gazed back on the face, she thought,
"I wish I knew your name, I wish night would come soon."
As if hearing her wish, the man smiled at Sera reassuringly then slowly the mist formed once again over, the man ebbing away into the darkness.
*CLAP*
"Alright students! that is enough!"
Sera felt her body swing back to the seat, her eyes wide and dilated, shock from the sudden interruption, her breathing unsteady, Sera turned to the professor who was sporting a grin, Sera glanced around the students and saw that some of them were also having difficulty breathing, and some just stretching after dozing off. Professor Trelawney cleared her throat,
"Now my young ones, you have been shown the basics of Divinations and yet you have barely scratched the surface, in our next meeting we will delve deeper and learn more as i explain the complex processes of Divinations. Now I must dismiss you all and go to your next class."
And with that said, Professor Trelawney smiled and disappeared into a side door, leading to her personal watched as her classmates began to file out of the classroom. Sera's eyes fell once again on the glass orb and placed a finger on the surface softly and sighed, the warm smile of the man still fresh in Sera's mind she softly whispered,
"Till tonight then."
She then grabbed her satchel and went out through the curtain, not noticing Professor Trelawney in the open side entrance watching her as she held a glass orb that started to clear..
