Sore was the first word to come to mind after All Might's lesson yesterday. Oh don't get me wrong the second word; Invigorated. If there is one thing All Might is great at it is Muscle plans. On one hand he turned Midoriya from cannon into Beef-doriya, but on the other he had absolutely no regard, until the sports festival, about the crushing weight of expectations he put on the poor boy. I guess it doesn't make it any less stupid of him to not tell Midoriya that he shouldn't strive to live up to the expectation of All Might and not Yagi Toshinori but whatever.
"Yo, Izuma!" I hear called out as I smile seeing Kirishima and Mina at Takoba Beach. Seeing that it was actually a bit dirtier than the anime portrayed it as.
"Heya Mina! I realized after I had met you guys that I probably crashed your date didn't I?" I say with a chuckle making them chuckle as well.
"Nah all's well and good, didn't ruin anything, we were actually on our way back from our date." She said sitting on a washing machine parked upon the sand. Ah, glad I didn't ruin their date.
"So what are we doin here Izuma. This place is super dirty and that is terrible." Kirishima says causing me to smile.
"Well I had an Idea, since we are trying to get into UA why don't we do some community service while practicing your guy's quirks?" I say earning a excited nod from Mina and a raised eyebrow from Kirishima.
"Your guy's quirks?" He questions causing Mina to raise her eyebrow before it dawns on her earning an additional confused look at me.
"I already have training at a different place since my quirk is quite...visible." I intone seeing Mina and Kirishima look at eachother in confusion. "Here I can give a Demonstration but don't tell~" I say grinning as I summon Asura's Wrath to hopefully grind out the summon Guardian Slime by tribute 10 times by Wednesday. I don't know why I want it before Wednesday but it is just an arbitrary goal I set for myself. Grimacing at the hand I drew I pull out a coin. "You two are Heads and I am tails. You can only attack on your "turn" alright?" I ask seeing both of them nod. "I should mention first turn can't attack regardless however you can prepare for other turns, whether that be activating your quirks now, or setting up a trap however at max you can have 20 minutes where I can barely interfere unless effects say I can." I say seeing Mina and Kirishima nod as they look between each other.
"Aight, I think we got this Izuma! You can count on us to play by the rules!" Mina said as she looked at the coin watching it fly through the air landing on tails. Smirking I look at Mina who pouted at the coin's landing face.
"First I play two Shard of Greeds which right now do nothing." I say with a nod seeing Kirishima look at the Shard of Greed's with a bit of confusion at what they actually do. "Now I set this card and play Reactor Slime, to activate its effect and summon two Slime Tokens in defense mode." I say before I sigh. "That is the end of my turn as I can't do much else." I say out loud to them feeling my turn end.
"Rockin!" Kirishima exclaims as he looks at the Reactor slime before he activates his hardening. Seeing it is interesting in person because it seems to be skin deep when seeing it but I watch as his entire body hardens. His eyes, ears, and scars all turning into jagged tissue much like stone and a bit more...shark-like if I had to describe it up close. It was sick, I know in his Unbreakable form his nose had kinda elongated at least from the visuals, but it was even present when he just normally hardened just to a lesser degree. Blinking as I hear a splat I look at Mina who covers the ground around us in acid, my eyes widening when my quirk treats it like a field spell was played. Watching as the sand and dump around us turned into a field of solid pink slime.
"Holy crap Quirks can count as Field spells?!" I shout not knowing that as Mina grins, unaware of how turning Field spells can be. My eyes widened further as I see two small slimes, looking more like hounds than my own Slime tokens yet less solid. They also were blue with amber orange-yellow eyes, which made them easy to see in this pink landscape. "This is sick!" I shout in excitement my mouth splitting with a sharp crack causing Kirishima to wince at the sound.
"Hell yeah Izuma! Your quirk is awesome, but now it's time to see what we can do, right Kiri?" Mina asks getting a "Rah" from Kirishima as she looked forward and flung some acid at Reactor slime, causing me to grin.
"Not so fast! As a quick effect I tribute my Reactor Slime to set and activate a Metal Reflect slime directly from my deck!" I shout watching as Reactor slime backpedals and jumps into the floor to be replaced with a Metal Reflect Slime as it tanks the acid. My eyes widen though as Metal Reflect Slime roars and beefs up causing Mina's slime creatures to also beef up. "Woah what the heck?!" I shout as I feel his attack go from zero to 1500 and his defense from 3000 to 4500.
"Aw, that is so cool though. Alright then I'll attack this little guy!" Mina says throwing acid at a Slime Token destroying it outright. Luckily it was in defense mode so no damage went to me but I felt an eerie feeling at how close it was. "Heck yeah! Kiri why don't you destroy the other one!" Mina cheers looking at her boyfriend only to see him looking with confusion.
"It feels like..." Kirishima mutters as I watch him activate a Quick Effect seeing him harden to a point I think he is barely before Unbreakable, before realizing what the effect did as Metal Reflect Slime shrinks and I see it's "defense" suddenly go from 4500 to 1000. Kirishima swapped defense with Metal Reflect Slime...he swapped defense with it?!
"Woah Kiri I didn't think you'd go this far into hardening!" Mina says as Kirishima grins and attacks, destroying the other Slime Token.
"Woah, your synergy is amazing guys!" I complement seeing Kirishima revert back, as well as Metal Reflect Slime, so it wasn't permanent just during the attack phase. That's scary. Drawing a card I hum and look at them. "Well Mina since you played your Field spell I might as well play my own. Mound of the Bound Creator!" I shout watching my side of the field suddenly turn into a mountain, however unlike with Nejire and Mirio it was behind me as I stood on regular ground, Mina and Kirishima staying on the pink slime land. "That's not all as I tribute Metal Reflect Slime to summon Egyptian God Slime!" I shout watching as it turns into the copy of Ra. That's defense. "Now then to end my turn I summon another Reactor Slime and use it's effects to summon two more Slime Tokens." I say holding no more cards.
"Alright! Kiri lets get this!" I hear Mina say as she looks at me with a grin looking at the Hound Slimes. Smiling I watch as they immediately enter Battle phase and Mina hurls acid at a Slime Token, only for it to curve mid air and splash harmlessly against Egyptian God Slime.
"Hah! While any Egyptian God Slimes are out you can only attack them!" I say with a grin seeing Mina and Kirishima blink at that Kirishima trying to swap defense with Egyptian God Slime only to fail because of Mound of the Bound Creator. "That would be Mound of the Bound creator any ten star monster on either side of the battlefield can't be targeted by effects, card or quirk!" I shout seeing Kirishima look puzzled before his eyes widen and I see his arms sharpen, before sharpening further. "I thought Kirishima could only harden." I think as I watch him use his effect and target one of the slime hounds on his side swapping stats with them.
"Attack it doggo!" I hear Mina shout as the Slime Hound lunges forward before tearing at the Egyptian God Slimes throat. Hissing as I watch both turn into motes of light and disappear I see Kirishima and Mina smirk before their remaining hound tore into my Slime token. Feeling it return to my turn I am internally panicking as I draw, only to blink owlishly at the card I drew.
"That'll do." I say aloud before looking at them with a reluctant smile. "Sorry about this but I play Swords of Reveling Light making you guys not able to attack for my next three turns." I say passing after activating Reactor Slimes effect having three slime tokens and Reactor slime now.
"Nah don't be sorry, your just scared your getting your butt kicked by the best couple in Musutafu right now!" Mina says jumping on Kirishima's back causing him to blush as they pass their turns before I blink thinking about the shards of greed seeing their counters at two.
"Now I activate both of my Shards of Greed to draw four cards in addition to my regular draw I say grinning at the hand I have. "Now I tribute two slime tokens to summon Guardian Slime." I say grinning as I see the requirement tick up. "Then I tribute Guardian Slime itself to summon another Egyptian God Slime, and because of Guardian Slimes Graveyard Effect I will grab the card Millennium Revelation immediately using it to get rid of Ra - Immortal Pheonix to grab Monster Reborn from my deck." I say seeing Mina look at the card widely knowing what it probably does. "So since you guys liked it why don't I bring back the Egyptian God Slime in my graveyard?" I ask with a grin seeing it take the place where the second slime token had been before it became a sacrificial lamb. "Sorry I was panicking there so I kinda went harder then I meant to." I say pointing forward. "Alright Egyptian God Slime one destroy their slime hound!" I shout watching the hound be destroyed, mentally feeling their life points drop by 1800. That is... a high attack for field summoned monsters. "Now- huh?" I say feeling my battle phase end while seeing the pink ground pulse.
"What?" Mina asks looking at me curiously.
"Killing your slime hound ended my battle phase. That is...mildly annoying." I say ending my turn. Watching as their turn comes around and a sword dissipates only two turns left on Swords of Revealing Light. Watching them ponder on what to do I smile at how much of a challenge this is, Nejrie and Mirio were caught off guard and never allowed to recover from their shock, Mina and Kirishima don't have that issue since they knew from the start this was training. When they sigh and I feel it return to my turn I draw. "Alright I sacrifice Reactor Slime and my last Slime Token to summon my other Guardian Slime. Then immediately turn it into the last Egyptian God Slime." I say with a smile before I look as Kirishima and Mina. "Now let me show you the true main player of my deck. But first I play Ancient Chant allowing me to bring The Winged Dragon of Ra into my hand." I say before looking at them. "Do you wanna give up or?" I ask not really wanting to use up my cards but willing to do so if they wanted to keep going with the duel.
"Heck naw we can still win, right Kiri?" Mina says still pumped up causing me to chuckle as Kirishima hits his fists together giving out a determined roar.
Smiling I pump my fist my face still split showing my grin. "Alright don't say I didn't warn you!" I shout waving my hand. "I banish Ancient Chant to allow my Winged Dragon of Ra to gain the parameters of the things I tribute. Now I sacrifice all three of my Egyptian God Slimes to play The Winged Dragon of Ra!" I shout as Mina and Kirishima watch Ra form seeing their mixture of excitement and mild horror at it's size. "Now you'd think I'm done but I'm not!" I shout slapping down Sun God Unification. "Now I activate the trap card Sun God Unification and pay all of my stamina in order to-" I say before Ra roars growing even bigger. "-make Ra stronger!" I shout with a grin holding a card in my hand. "There is still more though!" I shout playing Blaze Cannon making Ra roar as the heat coming off him "skyrockets" partially melting the Mound of the Bound Creator. "Now attack Ra, blast Mina!" I shout seeing Mina look at Ra's jaws in terror as a firey blast rocks towards her to- evaporate before it hit her. "That's my win!" I shout with a grin seeing Mina let out a sigh of relief the battle field and monsters around us disappearing.
"Holy crap Izuma that was scary as heck!" Mina says while getting up, her legs a little shaky. "Your quirk is so cool Izuma!" Mina shouts jumping at me, causing my eyes to widen. Getting basically tackled to the sand by Mina causes Kirishima to start laughing.
"I'll remember this Kirishima. I'll remember this!" I shout while being glomped by Mina my face heating up at her hugs. "Please let me go Mina!" I shout causing Kirishima to laugh harder while Mina begins to laugh at my plight. All in all a very fun trip to the beach.
It is honestly pretty impressive how fast the weekend went by hanging with Mina and being tor- trained at UA. Sighing as I walk back into Aldera with my uniform on I see people muttering behind my back. It happens every day no reason to notice it anymore. Getting to my locker I sigh seeing blast marks marring the metal surface...again. I know Katsuki wasn't trying to just mark my locker with scorch marks, he was probably trying to burn my hero notebooks again. Turns out before the whole memory thing Katsuki had blown up Izuma's notebooks on more than one occasion, while we just saw it once in the anime. Opening my locker I sigh at the blatant disregard for my stuff despite them being neat every other time I open my locker. "If this keeps happening I'll take it up with the teachers." I mutter to myself quickly sorting the contents of my locker back into what it should be. Once I was done it was going through the day like normal...boring is the best description for it since I already knew the material just making sure not to outpace the others with what I was doing because it'd hurt their fragile egos and I knew the school would pick their side and not mine. It didn't matter if I had a quirk now because I always didn't and that makes me different, but no time to dwell on that because class was starting. Going into class I could immediately smell the bullshit in the air as many people in class begun to try and strike up conversations with me. "If you want to draw a card, be prepared for bad luck as well. I don't want to hear it the entire deck is random." I say shutting down their questions earning a bit of ire from them as I summon the Deck of Many Things and hold it out to the crowd seeing a few hesitate while Misami, a particularly quiet class mate who had no pull on the social ladder of school, went forward and shyly said.
"U-um one card." She said drawing only one earning the Moon card. "U-um what does this do?" She asks politely looking at me as I sigh and pull out a D3. Rolling it I see it lands on 2.
"You can cast two wishes, however you have to be specific or they'll be monkey pawed. The universe loves to toy with people." I say looking at her seeing her eyes widen like saucers as she keeps the card on her, not like it could be stolen but okay, as others look at her with jealousy.
"Heh I bet I'll get something good! Give me two of em!" I hear as an idiot roughly draws two cards, from the way I seen him draw it the deck didn't like it turning his The Fates into Rogue.
"Rogue and Euryale. You are now cursed to be worse all the time, and one person in your city inexplicably hates your guts." I say watching the color drain from his face as he looks at himself and everyone else realizes this can be bad for you. "This is why I said to be prepared for bad luck as well. The goods are good, but the bads match." I say earning a glare from the now cursed boy. Watching the teacher come in and see the deck I see him smile as he walks over reaching out to draw one only for the card not to budge an inch. "Declare how many you would like to draw." I say looking at him to see him grit his teeth.
"One." The teacher said rolling his eyes as it allows him to draw suddenly.
Looking at it in surprise I watch as he looks at the swirl of black on the card in confusion. "The Void, your soul is now trapped in an object somewhere in the world." I say and immediately when I finish he crumples into a soulless mess on the floor freaking everyone out as several peoples eyes widened. "I don't feel too bad since it'll probably be destroyed anyways." I mutter and sigh as people begin to freak out before he stands back up scared and confused.
"What did you do to me?!" He asked looking at himself in worry.
"I did nothing, you were the one who pulled the card and had bad luck." I state in a bored tone the Deck of Many Things sitting on my deck, while his eyes kept flicking towards it before he sighs and glares at me going to his podium.
"Alright everyone sit down." He says before going into actually doing his job as a teacher.
A few times throughout the day the man tried to get me in trouble for his own bad luck, news flash he only succeeded minorly in ways that won't effect me basically at all. If I was just the previous Izuma than it probably would hurt my feelings a lot more but being mixed with a pretty apathetic person really quelled those societal cares. When the final bell ringed I booked it from Katsuki who was still pissed from the encounter with him and Aunty. Luckily I scaled the wall fast enough that he couldn't find my hiding spot amongst the dirty ally and ended up shouting while stomping off. Going home I reflected on the blank card frustrated at how slow the progress was with it because at most I could get two summons a day before it went on cool down due to how the deck was set up which made it the most tedious requirement in the whole blank card. It was only half way done as well! I really need to "invent" Yugioh in this world to make this requirement much easier. Arriving at home I was met with the non-existent sound of Mom...which was weird considering how she is always earlier than me. Walking into the house I saw a few things that hinted at something being wrong. Mom's shoes were here which meant she was but there was no sound, there was dirt in the hallway which mom would make sure to scold whoever had allowed it before making them clean it, and there was a weird smell in the air. Walking into the house I keep my back straight as Asura's Wrath floats beside me ready to be played at a moments notice.
"Oh Izuma! I didn't hear you come in." I hear Mom say as I see her talking with a man I've never seen causing me to narrow my eyes at him. The man himself didn't seem too strange freckles like diamonds surrounding his face almost snow white hair with a slightly more rounded nose more sharp but tired eyes adorned with stress wrinkles calculating green eyes trained on me as I observe him as well. Overall I can't remember a single time I have ever met this man. That sets off dozens of red flags, but not from Izuma, from me.
"Uh huh. Well I wanted to let you know Mr. Guest here had tracked in a bit of dirt on his way in." I say my eyes never leaving the man as I back up going to my room, flicking my eyes to see it I grab the handle and open my door. Closing it I quickly bar it with my desk chair making damn sure it can't open with how I shimmied it in. I can miss dinner today. Moving the stool in my room to my desk I raise it as high as it'll go and begin to do some research stopping every time I hear footsteps outside my room. A few times I hear my doorknob jiggle as if someone is trying to open it, but with me barring it they can't get in. Looking up things on the internet I find that some self-learning programming classes are free Python, C plus plus, Java, and a few I don't recognize before I find the reason why.
Old programming software's restored and available for all from the dawn of Quirks. These outdated languages have had pages created so that if you have any remaining media on how to learn you may share for everyone to learn! The newer languages like I-Create, Ger-anti-mo, and ReFlux are still available classes at-
It was honestly pretty interesting that because they were old was the reason they were free and not their usefulness. Not that I'm not going to take advantage of it, because I am absolutely going to. Binge watching the help videos they did have I started to explore how they worked eventually learning that Izuma had a bit of a bad side finding a program called Virtu-world which allowed you to do some pretty monstrous calculations to predict what would happen in the real world with 92% accuracy. Thing is, this program isn't meant to leave I-island and I have no clue how she had did it yet as Izuma's finer memories haven't settled into place yet. This benefits me so much though as I load up a coding tool in Virtu-world and begin to type letting the Midoriya mutter go full speed as the words begin to flow onto the coding space. In the middle of the night I fall out of my trance when I get a notification from my phone. Looking at it I see it is a text from a drunk Mina who is at a club with a uncomfortable Kirishima, who is probably uncomfortable as Mina is hanging on him with a thin shirt which I can assume means he can feel both of the orbs pressing into his back.
Looking at the program in front of me I wince as my eyes widen which hurt more than it was deemed an impossibility from me as I see I coded three things in the time my mutter had gone berserk. First was the dueling interface, the next was an AI to make art using the art on Google (which still somehow survived the dark quirk era...hmm), and a half-finished bot that learns on how you duel it to duel better to be systematically locked at three stages of difficulty Easy, Casual, and Impossible. "Woah what the heck did I do..." I wonder aloud looking back in the code seeing the flaws in it that had been fixed and a few things that probably seemed unimportant but I remember breaking the code without so they were left in.
"Huh...is Yu-gi-oh going to be mostly digital starting out before I make the cards?" I wonder out loud before remembering something and quickly sending Kirishima the text UA doesn't accept students who have been convicted before.
Third person POV.
Kirishima grit his teeth as he heard whispers about Mina from the guys around him. He was pretty protective of Mina around douches like these guys but Mina really liked this club and if he wasn't here he could see them making her his target. "It might be worth it if I'm honest." He said to himself as his hands clenched into fists before he was thrown off by a text. "Izuma?" He questioned looking at the person on the other side.
"Don't do anything that'll get you in trouble with the law. UA won't accept you if you do and I don't want only half of you two to get in. Your welcoming grace - the best and only (currently) duelest Izuma." He read before laughing as he tapped Mina on the shoulder expectantly getting a giggle out of her in her drunken haze. He didn't know how Izuma knew he needed the words right now or even why she was awake at this late an hour, but he appreciated it.
Huffing at the welcome distraction Izuma looked back at the first generations of her codes before she smiled and continued to hum along to a tune. A tune from her old life made for a character in a story she liked to have as a friend Unbreakable by Daddyphatsnaps smiling as she hummed it she begun her mutter spree but now along to the tune of music in her head all while avoiding a white haired man in her house. She'd put Aura on the back burner for now mostly to get this done. If she got this done she'd be able to make money and get objectives done easier. There was no time like the present and she wasn't going to miss a second of her time as her fingers danced along the keys.
Two months of coding and classes later.
Her objective hadn't been filled out yet, but it was close. Izuma had gotten the art as close to the originals as possible while also having to create the app so people could play the game. It was so annoying to figure out how the new coding software for phones worked but she did it, somehow, to make Yugioh officially- in its baby stages. Yeah she didn't remember the ban list so she is doing the thing Pegasus did in the show which is release RANDOM cards every week and not in the archetypes until some people were die hard fans of the series. From how many downloads she had she thinks that the allure of it not being hero saturated is what is drawing people in. Right now there are only three "archetypes" Monsters, Spells, or Traps. The lifepoint rule is still 8000 LP and not 4000 that it originally started at but in response it had much more opening cards than the original started with. To pay homage she put it under Industrial Illustrations because speak what you will Pegasus was a master at marketing.
Humming Izuma left school and begun to make her way to an arcade Kirishima and Mina scheduled her to meet up at. Just in the last two months her body had become much more fit than before as her body was cut of more muscle than fat now. She was still much more skinny than normal Izuku but that was to be expected as she was now female. Her body didn't show it though, on account of the porcelain like skin she had given herself to make people underestimate her as they can't see her muscle. That'd make people think she is weak, and as much as Izuma probably wanted to be taller she wasn't going to get taller, for the same reason as her skin.
"Hey guys!" Izuma said meeting Mina and Kirishima who were looking at their phones while waiting for her, both looking at the new Dueling Nexus app that had hit the market. It was free too so there wasn't a reason not to get it, although it did show it had in app purchases.
"What's up Izuma. Ready for this?" Mina said with a grin as Izuma laughed and sat down at the table calling up Asura's Wrath.
"Oh Mina you think you can take this on?~" Izuma purred, having grown much more confident training under Aizawa and some surprise teaching lessons from Nemuri.
"Oh boy do we!" Kirishima said grinning as he held up his own phone.
"Then lets get this started!" Izuma said challenging them, the app flipping a coin for their duels.
