It was nine o'clock at night when Charlotte knocked on my door. I could tell by her knock that something was very wrong. I quickly opened the door. Charlotte had tears in her eyes. She started pacing. I hugged her until she calmed down then led her to the sofa where she reluctantly sat down.

"Charlotte," I asked, "What happened?"

"Lily's biological mother is suing Harry and I for custody of Lily," Charlotte sobbed, "She wants Lily back."

I sat down next to Charlotte.

"You've raised Lily since she was two days old," I pointed out, "She's three now. You are her mother."

"A judge might give Lily back to Ms. Wong," Charlotte said, "Especially considering what I've been through and the fact that I'm expecting now."

Charlotte was six weeks pregnant, and she had been through a lot in the past few weeks.

"A judge might," I told her, "But the judge in this case has no intention of taking Lily away from her parents."

I signed onto the court website and assigned Charlotte's case to myself,

"This judge knows that you are Lily's mother. She knows that Lily is best off with her family."

Charlotte squeezed her eyes tight for a few seconds.

"I do have to pretend to be fair," I added with a smile.

That caused Charlotte to laugh.

"Thank you, Randa," she said, "Oh you should know I'm claustrophobic."

Now it's my turn to laugh.

"Since we're in my apartment maybe you want to tell me what color my carpet is too," I joked.

"Huh?" Charlotte asked.

"Well since we're playing state the obvious," I teased, "I've known you since we were in diapers. I know you're claustrophobic. You had a panic attack on the train when there were only ten people there."

"Speaking of panic attacks," Charlotte said, "I'm worried about what I'm going through. Randa, I love this baby even though he or she isn't born yet. I don't know if it will harm the baby or not."

"Did the doctor say anything about it," I asked.

Charlotte shook her head.

"No. It's just really stressful and I know it's not good for the baby. Stress-"

"You've been through enough," I interrupted her, "But still you did threaten to cut off a man's junk and feed it to a pack of bees."

"That was no man," Charlotte said, "He was the same a$$*0^# that raped Samantha."

"Ah," I said, "In that case, you only did one thing wrong. You didn't act on your threat. I would have killed him, brought him back to life, and then killed him again just to see him suffer."

Charlotte laughed so hard she started to choke. I hurried to get her water. She took some slow sips.

"I needed that laugh," she said, "Oh did you hear about Carrie?"

"She's pregnant," I replied, "She told me earlier today."
