The Front Lines: L.T. Season 01 Episode 08
We see Gossamer flying off to a location in some kind of dense forest or jungle of sorts going over towards a Pyramid. We then cut to Spider-Man walking up the steps to the top and the roof began to crumble apart dropping slowly down into the building leaving only a straight bridge across to the door opposite where the webswinger was standing and we see a massive gyroscope spinning below.
"Isn't this Gyroscope Magnificent?" The voice of Equinox spoke up getting Spider-Man's attention. "It's the Ninth wonder of the world. I knew you couldn't resist my little invitation Spider-Man."
"Okay Equinox just what are you up to now?" Spider-Man then questioned looking over at the man as he walked out of the door on the other side of the bridge.
The Ancients who worshiped here believed that the gyroscope kept the world spinning, and that if it ever stopped the world would also stop too." He answered back about what his goal was.
"So if that happend one half of the world would forever be stuck during the day with the scorchng sunlight."And the other half would forever be stuck in frozen night."" The Webswinger began to state but Equinox finished his train of thought for him.
"Yin and Yang, order and chaos. An eternal Equinox." They'd then stated to the spider about their plan of how to create balance.
"Interesting plot, but thankfully I was able to ask the friend of a friend for help." Spider-Man stated as the ghost named Clockwork appeared.
"Clockwork, ghost master of time. Even you cannot stop me now." Equinox then told them bringing the two statues of winged serpents to life to attack.
The two began to fight the statues that were brought to life with Spider-Man knocking one for a loop and Clockwork blasting the other, though they were already able to regain their stances and continue attacking. Eqinox attacked Spider-Man as he was fighting against them and knocking him onto his back while on the bridge.
"To gain control of the pit's energies, one spirit in perfect balance must sacrifice another." He'd stated to them about what they were doing.
Meanwhile Clockwork had managed to blast apart the two statues using his ghost ray and turned back to see Spider-Man and Equinox fighting and so he'd then blasted at them with a strange energy but the man in black and white had absorbed it. "How?"
"Arrogant as always, just as the Observants." He'd stated in response turning towards them before stating "A matter of balance, an equal and opposite reaction." While moving the energies from his left hand over to his right.
"If you can wield the magics of both Chaos and order, then yo" Clockwork began to say but was blasted by Equinox knocking him out of the air.
"Ah, ah, ah. No telling now." He'd told them before then turning back to Spider-Man as the two had began to struggle against one another, though our webslinger managed to knock him off balance and caused him to drop into the pit onto the gyroscope.
As the Gyroscope began to go haywire Clockowork had teleported in front of Spider-Man stating "Come on." and took him by the hand pulling him through the portal.
They'd teleported back to Gossamer with Spider-Man stating "Okay, is it just me or was that too easy just now?"
"I sense that Equinox had wanted this to happen. We should go back to my lair for now." Clockwork then told them as Gossamer was transformed into a large dragonlike creature.
"Right, your lair it is then." Spider-Man stated and the two escaped just as it had blown fire at them. They'd appeared inside the lair and Clockwork felt something happen crying out in pain. "What happened?"
"Take a look, whever Equinox has done it's caused time to slip with the universe careening between both order and chaos." Clockwork then stated showing them Atlantis as they were preparing to fight against creatures that hadn't been seen on earth or millions of years. "This is no isolated incident either. It's taking place all over the world."
"We need to help whoever we can." Spider-Man stated to him, however Clockwork had slammed the doors so that he couldn't leave.
"These shifting energies are affecting time itself, the best and only thing we can do no is to seek council from those more ancient than myself, more powerful than the celestialsapiens, and beyond even the Contemelia." Clockwork stated opening a portal with the two leaving through it to an empty void with steps appearing fro them to come to and they'd gone to a half destroyed half in tact platform. "Remove your mask and follow me."
"Who are we seeing here?" Terry questioned while removing his mask and following the Ghost Master of time.
"Nabu the keeper of order, and Typhon the master of Chaos." Clockwork answered back as two others joined them walking behind Terry and Clockwork.
"They must be treated with utmost reverance if you wish to speak with them." The man in the lab coat stated as they were walking.
"You should let us do the talking." The other strange man stated to them as they then made it to the platform.
Two beings had appeared in front of them that were larger than the four of them. "Who dares bring a mortal to the presence of Deities?" The one in white and black questioned about who they brought to them.
"Listen, we've got major problems." Terry stated walking up to them ignoring the part about reverence, or maybe he just didn't know what that word meant, either way he was clearly wanting to rush this thorugh.
"There's more than a little chaos in this one, I like him Nabu." The man in red and black stated to the other robed individual standing next to them.
"We're hoping that you guys can help us stop the universe from tearing itself apart." The young man stated to them while looking up at both of them.
"I fear your universe is now experiencing a violent decompression of tension that have been building for eons." Nabu, the one in white and black, spoke up.
"Then maybe you can explain what this has to do with Eqinox." He questioned them about the man that was so obsessed with balance.
"Do you believe he is worthy of such knowledge?" Nabu questioned them while looking at the other three that were there with Terry.
"I Clockwork, Ghost Master of time believe he is worthy." Clockwork stated to the entities that were in front of them.
"I Paradox, the time walker also believe that he is worthy to recieve such knowledge." The man in the lab coat then stated too.
"I Soul, the one who sees all, join in the declaration that he is worthy." The third strange one, named Soul, also agreed with the other two.
"Very well then listen closely to our tale. The forces of Order and Chaos have been at war since time Immemorial." Nabu began to say about what they wanted to know. "In a desparate bid for peace, an orphan was chosen empowered by both sides to act as an equalizer."
Now Neither side could gain an advantage over the other. For if either side became too powerful Equinox would tilt the balance back the other way." Typhon stated to them picking up where Nabu left off. "Peace at last."
"But cracking under the strain, he became obsessed." Nabu then picked up again. "Believing that he could do a better job without answering to us. So he left."
"Continuing to carry out his duties in a way that only made sense only to his fractured psyche." Typhone finished the explination.
"But why involve me?" Terry then questioned about what role he had to play in everything that Equinox was doing.
"In you he'd discovered what he believes to become an equal, a tool to terminate his own existence." Nabu then answered once more.
"Now free of his fleshly prison he can tap into the same boundless energies from which we the Keeper of Order and Master of Chaos drevie our powers." Typhone picked up when Nabu stopped talking.
"He is coming." Nabu then stated while looking off in the distance away from where they currently stood.
"Wrong, he's here, and he's famished." Eqinox stated appearing and being much much larger than both Typhon and Nabu. "As long as you're here, you may as well stay for dinner."
Both Nabu and Typhone had teleported the four of them out and terry put his mask back on asking "What now? He's taken out both keepers of balance."
"Everything seems to have appeared as it was." Paradox stated looking around as nothing seemed out of the ordinary at all.
"I think I just figured out why." Spider-Man stated looking back seeing Eqinox now in a golden suit with a long red cape and only hte black and white of his mask remaining.
"Why did you run away? You left before I could express my appriciation for the help you gave me." Eqinox stated to them. "Shedding off my old existence to be reborn a god!"
"With the combined powers of both Typhon and Nabu he's too strong for any hero now." Clockwork stated to them.
"Then maybe it's about time we tried to combine some powers of our own." Spider-Man suggested to them and the three looked at him strangely.
We see all the front lines heroes that Terry had worked with being collected and brought in thaat being Wonder Woman, Hotstreak, Static, Gar, Phantom Hawk, Aquagirl, and Albedo. "With your permission we will borrow your powers and skills in the faint hope that combined into a single hero they may give one of us the necessary edge to defeat Eqinox." Soul stated to the other heroes.
"Okay, but who gets the powers exactly?" Hotstreak questioned them about how they were going to decide that.
"I am, Eqinox chose me to start this thing. I'm going to see it through to the end. Like Nabu said, I may be the only one to become their equal." Spider-Man told them all about what they were going to do.
"Do it." Albedo told them stating to give Spider-Man all their powers temporarily so that they could stop Eqinox.
They'd done so and Spider-Man had grown to the size of Eqinox with an armored version of his costume appearing and the web cape being replaced with an energy net cape. He then walked over towards Eqinox.
"Kick his ass Spider-Man!" Hotstreak called out to them as he'd been walking over to where Eqinox was standing.
"Shouldn't that be Spider-Monolith now?" Gear questioned as they watched what was going on right now.
"If anyone can it's Terry." Aquagirl stated as they wached him leaving to try to fight against Eqinox.
"Soon, this universe will be torn apart so that It can be reborn in my image." Eqinox stated as something tapped him on his shoulder. Turning to see who it was he got punched in the face and knocked back by our Spider-Monolith sending him crashing into a building. "I suppose that balances the books Spider-Man." He'd then stated looking over at them.
"Sorry, but you're forgetting the interest." Spider-Man answered back "Balance right, you fight on my level all things even."
"Agreed." Eqinox stated charging forwards and the two had started fightining with Spider-Man having the upper hand thanks to his Spider-Sense.
Spider-Man blasted him with flames but he used a shield to stop them and they continued fighting and the megasized wallcrawler then grabbed them by the fist knocking him over into the water and then blasting it with electricity as Eqinox had cried out in pain. We then see the fish floating to the surface from the attack.
"Oops, I hope Maerena didn't see that." He'd stated as Eqinox had gotten up angry ready to keep fighting.
"How do you think they're doing?" Static questioned about what was going on since they couldn't properly see the fight happening anymore.
"He's probably kicking their ass right now." Phantom Hawk then stated to them about what's happening right now.
"Well, if I know Terry he's probably trying to find a way to end this as we speak." Wonder Woman stated not knowing how right that statement was.
"Let's take this outside." Spider-Monolith stated grabbing Eqinox as his own cape had transformed into what looked like a jetpack with wings along with the void of space and stars before blasting off into outer space itself and he'd thrown them into an asteroid belt.
"I warned you once not to get in my way Spider-Man." Equinox called out preparing to attack him. "Now it's time for you to learn why." with that he charged forwards blasting them into one of the asteroids that they were fighting on. "It would seem that the combined powers of my old masters are more than a match for the powers of your friends."
"Oh we haven't even gotten started Eqinox. When I'm through with you you're gonna sit down and you're gonna listen to what I have to say." Spider-Monolith stated to him creating a ball of energy that looked like it was green and also space like the jetpack was.
"We will see." Eqinox stated mimicing his movement creating a sphere of his own and the two blasted at one another with the energy striking at the center and causing it to create strange waves around them. "Surrender, only a being in perfect balance can attempt what I do now!"
"Except you're not in Balance are you?" Spider-Man questioned adding Statics Electricity making the beam struggle move closer to Eqinox instead of being in the direct middle of the two of them.
"What? What are you talking about?" Eqinox questioned him adding more power to his own beam.
"The Chaos inside of you outweighs the Order." The Webswinger answered back to him adding Hostreaks fire once more tipping the scale in his favor. "That's why you rebelled against the keepers of balnce isn't it?"
"I rebelled because the type of balancing act they demanded was impossible!" He'd yelled back adding more power to his beam again.
"And you hate them for it, don't you?" The wallcrawler questioned now adding the ghost ray of Phantom Hawk and once more tipping the blance.
"What do you know of never-ending responsibilities? Of Course I hate them!" Eqinox shouted out but stopped having a sudden realization and questions "Wait, if I'm not in balance then GAAH!" He'd began to state forgetting about the beam struggle and being blasted by the power that Spider-Man had unleashed which caused him to start to crack.
When Eqinox dropped Spider-Man walked over to them seeing his body starting to crack apart "Eqinox." He'd spoken as the man looked up at him. "What happened to you, that's too much for anyone to bare alone. It's no wonder you hate them, honestl I'd hate them too. But erasing everything and everyone, that's going too far."
This made Eqinox hang his head in shame knowning that he was right as the cracks had gotten worse. "You're right, it's Nabu and Typhon's fault not everyone elses. I'm nothing but a petulant child throwing a tantrum it would seem."
"Never too late to start over and do things right, what do you say?" Spider-Monolith questioned holding out his hand to the man showing that despite everything he was still willing to give them a second chance since Eqiniox was still a victim in all of this.
Eqinox had let out a laugh as the cracks worsened and he responds "Sure, why not." while reaching forwards and shattering apart the moment he'd grabbed their hand which made Spider-Man look down saddened that things had to end that way but he returned back to earth and the powers were returned to everyone.
"What happened to Eqinox?" Albedo questioned about just where the man that they'd fought had gone off to.
"Gone, he's finally found that equalibrium for himself at last." Spider-Man answered back with a sigh.
We see that after that things started to go back to normal once again, or, as normal as things typically got for them all. Terry went home to see his Mom and Little brother, and eventually got to meet Aunt May, the woman that raised Peter, basically his great aunt who would be more like a grandmother to him going forwards.
Static, Gear, and Hotstreak, had all returned to Dakota to take a break with Hostreak spotting a a beautiful Latina girl with brown hair down to her thighs and green eyes talking with some other girls and he'd acted like he wanted to speak to them but turned away. That was until Static and Gear, or rather, Virgil and Richie, had pulled him over basically shoving him to go talk to the girl who looked up at him and paused. Hostreak, or Fancis, had hung his head as if he felt saddened by seeing her and looked down at an angle hiding his face.
The girl had splashed water onto him and pointed her finger at his face when he looked up to see why she did that and began to give him an earful with Virgil and Richie laughing about, and one of the shadows on the wall had eyes appear on it that moved up and down with a sqint as if they were laughing too.
We then see later that at some point Mareena had taken Terry to meet her parents, and her familly seemed to approve after he knocked at tooth out of her older brother's mouth for getting in his face about the two of them dating. This had caused him to become embarrassed and began to profusely apologize to Mareena's mom and dad repeatedly.
Wonder Woman had returned to her position as Goddes of Truth, and Phantom Hawk had returned to Amity Park where a man with flaming hair and a woman with birdlike wings had appeared greeting him alongside a slew of other strange ghosts and people.
Finally Albedo had gone back to his own place and packed up his things putting them into a mini storage trailer and left going to visit all the different members of his family before eventually returning back to the Legion HQ where the others had appeared throwing him a farwell party that lasted a couple of hours and finally he'd opened something using a remote control.
"Well, this is it. Everyone, I'd like to appoint Terry as the new leader of the Front Lines." Albedo stated to everyone which surprised them.
"Me?" Terry questioned surprised to hear that he was going to be in charge. "Why choose me exactly when the others have more experience with the team?"
"There's greatness in you, and I trust your judgement to lead." Albedo answered back putting his hand on their shoulder.
"When will you be back?" Mareena questioned Albedo about him leaving through the strange portal he'd opened up.
"I'm not coming back, I've got friends on the other side of this hole that need me far more than any of you do. Just remember to take care of yourselves." He'd stated as Ship had jumped onto the mini storage trailer without others noticing and the others all nodded.
"Hey, if you think Jurnior here can handle leading I'm game." Phantom Hawk answered back and all the others seemed to agree with that sentiment.
"Take care everyone, goodbye." Albedo called out leaving with the mini storage trailer and the strange portal then closed behind them.
