Darkness... Starflight was used to this. Ever since the volcano blinded him he was unable to see the world around him. It took him an unholy amount of time to get used to this.

.

With help from Tamarin he learned to see his surroundings without his eyes. He had Fatespeaker to guide his around with her kind hold.

.

And he had his friends who lit his life to this day. After the war they did nothing for his blindness as there was no cure.

.

What a sad thing.

.

Now he sat in the calm slumber of his blankets, the warm embrace soothing him. He was tired but he could not sleep, why?

.

It had to do with blood. He could not remember what it was that scared him so badly, but the true meaning of terror was slowly creeping in and he knew he could not feel anything.

.

He felt like something was slithering over his grave.

.

He was not sure what to think of it...

Perhaps a walk would calm his mind?

.

With a sigh he lifted himself from his bed, his wings stretching out in the cold air. He felt around in the darkness with his talons, his tail sliding across the ground.

.

He knew the school in the mountain by heart but it did make it any easier to traverse.

.

He thought he heard a sound.

.

"Hello?" he called. He was hoping to get an answer, anything, but there was nothing.

.

He brushed it off.

.

He walked along the long corridor to the headmaster's classroom.

.

He would find her there.

.

He continued on along the hall, looking for the place he was trying to go. Then he came to the room, Tsunami.

.

She was sound asleep.

.

"H-hello?"he called. She rolled over looking in his general direction. He heard a rustle. She knew that voice anywere. Sleepy, she said "Starflight?" For a moment he hesitated to answer back, he was having second thoughts on rousing his friend.

.

"Yes." He finally said.

.

"Why are you up this late?" she questioned.

.

For a moment he hesitated to answer her. "Can't sleep," he said as he nervously curled his tail around his talons. He had no idea how she would react to this but he would wait for her reaction all the same.

.

"Well I am up now." she replied. "What's wrong?"

.

With a sigh he said, "Tsunami I am scared, I feel like something is about to happen and I don't know what."

.

"Oh Starflight," she said softly.

.

"You're just overthinking it again as usual Starflight." she said in a comfort filled tone.

Well that was nice of her...

.

She got out of bed slowly, her leaf covers falling from her wings.

"Come on let's go get some air." she said as she took him by the talons.

.

She slowly led him out of the cave and out to the ledge by her abode.

The wind slowly blew creating a chill that was noticeable but not bothersome.

.

They sat for a while taking in the night.

.

"Thank you Tsunami..." he finally said.

.

"For what?" she said almost with a laugh.

"For being my friend." he replied.

.

Without a word she tented her wing over him and brought him close.

The volcano had left its mark on him, physically and mentally.

.

The scars and scuffs on his dark scales said where the volcano had burned him. The worst of it was around his eye area.

.

The windows to his soul that used to be a brilliant green were now clouded and grey. His eyes were sensitive to any changes in light so he wore a cloth blindfold to protect them from further damage.

.

But here with his friend brought him some much needed love.

.

He suddenly felt a tug at the said cover.

"You don't mind do you?" she said quietly.

.

He was about to ask why she was trying to remove his blindfold when she answered for him

.

"I just want to see your face again, what is under that blindfold." she told him. He allowed her to remove it, a sense of relief coming over him.

.

His eyes were as grey as the morning sky, his irises showing through the white film. The scales around his eyelids matched a darker grey where he had been burnt.

.

She ran her talons along the side of his snout, a warm tingly feeling on the side of his face.

.

She smiled without his knowledge.

.

It felt great to be in her warm grasp, to be by his friend.

.

"You know Tsunami I-" he started to say before he was quickly cut off by her putting a talon to his mouth.

.

He retaliated with slight anger saying "What did you do that for?"

"Shhhh!, I see something" she quickly said.

.

His anger quickly was replaced with curiosity.

What was she seeing? Was it wonderful? Or dangerous?...

.

"What is it?" He questioned.

.

Though he could not see it he knew she had worry on her face.

She was silent, that was not a good sign.

"I don't know what it is but I see lights, many lights" she finally said.

.

Her voice was a cold as stone.

His heart jumped a mile.
