The lights were like ghostly stars in the night.
.
"Should we go investigate?" Starflight questioned.
.
Tsunami did not know how to react to this situation, ignore the very obvious lights or to go and see what they were.
.
Sure she was about as curious as her timid friend but she did not want to risk him or her.
Her longing to see what it was had made it to the point where it was killing her.
.
"Sure." she finally said, she went without a second to lose as her intrusive thoughts won.
It took Starflight a moment to launch off without his sight, as soon as he was in the air they were off.
.
She knew his lungs were damaged from the fumes of the mountain so he was not as efficient a flyer as her. Soon not to her surprise he was having difficulty taking in the air he needed.
.
His ragged breaths were very distressing to her.
.
"Come on Starflight, not much further to go." she said with an upright tone.
.
This seemed to work as he started to regain himself flying up beside her.
.
It was almost mesmerizing seeing the lights grow bigger as they flew closer and closer. Tsunami could not help but wonder if she was just imagining it and she was bringing Starflight for nothing. Perhaps they should have stayed on the ledge.
.
But there was a thought that maybe it was something more sinister.
Her sudden silence was making her friend uncomfortable
.
"Tsunami, is there something wrong?" Starflight asked.
.
"Nothing, we just have to get closer to them." she replied.
He said nothing further to her surprise. he would usually start asking more.
.
The quiet from her companion was almost haunting.
.
"They're so beautiful." she said to herself.
.
As they came even closer to them she was surprised to see that the said lights were fires and beside them was what looked like tents. She would say that it was a camp or an army if it were not for the fact that the tents were much too small to be made by a dragon.
.
The dawn was coming over the mountains, lighting the camp in the morning rise.
.
As the dio got closer she could see scavengers.
What were they doing up here?
.
And why are there so many?!
.
Now the fires revealed that some of the scavengers had horns, they did not look anything like the others.
.
What are they?
Now she could see that the figures moved through the camp, their bodies shined in the dim light, were they wearing...Metal?
.
They were clearly not guards.
Tsunami was not sure how she knew this, but she just did.
.
Armor, that only means one thing.
She knew that they were so small that they could not possibly hurt her and him, but felt like they should turn back immediately.
.
"Starflight we need to leave." she said suddenly.
Starflight almost jumped out of his skin.
.
"What!?-Why Do We Need To Leave?!" he said with panic.
.
"Just go!" she yelled at him. He did not even question her order.
They both reeled around at full speed, she dove so fast she swore the wind would have shredded her wings.
.
She saw the camp stirring, the little creatures running to and about.
That did not seem good.
.
She did not have time to think about it as she started hearing whistling sounds. They were loud and sounded like they were coming from everywhere.
.
A scream rang out beside her, she reeled around to find Starflight clutching his chest, blood was running from his claws.
.
"What's Wrong Starflight!?" she yelped as her heart was pounding.
.
He did not answer, with a groan of agony he simply just fell out of the sky downwards to the trees below.
.
NO!
.
She beat her wings as fast as she could, diving as fast as a shooting star.
She screamed toward Starfight, trying to get to him before he plummeted into the forest.
.
She could not reach him in time as he fell.
.
She watched in horror as he hit the ground with a thud.
She was not sure if the feeling on her face was a single tear running down her cheek.
.
She could not see him, the forest was so dense!
.
Tsunami was mortified beyond comprehension.
What Would She Do?!
What could She Do?!
She would go get Clay! She would go get help!
Without another idea she flew with great speed toward the mountain.
She would help Starflight, If he was even still alive...
