Percy flying through the air launched many attacks of water at Kalmaar who was pushed back by the force of it. Percy landed hard on Worjira's snout; water splashed off of his feet and ran down Worjira's face. Kalmaar aimed his trident at Percy and sent a shot at him; Percy dodged and melted into water before reappearing right behind Kalmaar and punching him with full force. Kalmaar is launched to the same place on Worjira's snout as Percy had been only seconds before.
Kalmaar stood, "You have become one with the ocean, like the Nyad. A foolish sacrifice."
He blasts Percy but this time he doesn't dodge, the blasts go right through him.
"For it you will gain nothing! You cannot hope to defeat me and Worjira." He bellows continually blasting Percy, who doesn't react and walks towards Kalmaar, a scowl on his face.
He kicks Kalmaar, and he gets launched backwards, landing on the very edge of Worjira's snout, Worjira howls purple lightning flashing in the sky around her, as she rises to her full height. Percy is standing a few feet away from Kalmaar, a determined look on his face, water gathered in his hands, ready to strike Kalmaar down.
On the top of the building next to the fight, all of the demigods are gathered.
Annabeth rushed to the edge of the roof. Everyone follows but they stay behind Annabeth.
"Percy." She said.
The water in Percy's hands splashes on Worjira's head, He turned and stared at Annabeth a surprised look on his face.
"Annabeth."
Kalmaar rises and aims his trident.
"Percy look out!" Annabeth screamed in warning.
As Kalmaar fires, Percy had just enough time to turn to face him before the attack hits him. Red energy is lanced though his body, Percy screams before his body dissolves into water droplets.
"No!" Annabeth howled, as Kalmaar chuckles in victory. Annabeth glares, her face twisting into something like hatred. Kalmaar unaffected goes back to his perch and slams his trident into Worjira's head,
"Destroy the demigods!" Kalmaar howled.
Worjira roared and fires a blast of storm energy, a mix of purple lightning and water. It hits Will and Annabeth who are tossed across the roof. Annabeth lost hold of her dagger and it falls into a hole on the roof. Annabeth got to her feet and grabbed Will's staff which lay next to her, and starts to head to Kalmaar.
"Annabeth, Wait!" Will called, scrambling to his feet.
She ignores him and running at top speed, screamed a battle cry and launched herself onto Worjira, attacking Kalmaar instantly by swinging the staff at his head. Kalmaar parries, but Annabeth continues with a furry of attacks so fast that it's hard to follow what she's doing. Kalmaar parries and dodges every one of her attacks, he slams his trident into her, and she lands hard a few feet away and immediately starts to get back up. Kalmaar aims his trident at her,
"A foolish attack. Your emotions blind you."
Annabeth growls and stands staff still in hand. They get ready to fight again. But the focus is back on the roof, A dozen or so merlopians are getting on to the roof top to attack the demigods.
"Looks like we have some company." Hazel said, drawing her sword.
The demigods on the roof charge the merlopians.
Annabeth launched herself at Kalmaar again, he dodged and she attacked again, but Kalmaar kicked her back with some of his tentacles. She falls off of Worjira's head and lands on one of her spikes, dropping the staff into the water below.
"You are weak! Enjoy your last breath while you have the chance, demigod!" Kalmaar said, getting ready to fire his trident.
Just then Benthomaar gave a battle cry and attacked Kalmaar from behind, kicking him. Kalmaar still launched a shot but Annabeth jumped to the rooftop and it missed her.
Bentho and Kalmaar fight going so fast in their attacks that it's hard to tell what's going on. Kalmaar parries Bentho's last move and he gets pushed back. Bentho stands using his spear to get back up. He aims it at Kalmaar before declaring, "Enough! I will not allow you to harm my friends!"
"You're no match for a king, adopted brother!"
They started to circle each other.
"I am not your brother. And you will never be my king!" Bentho yelled, they attacked.
The attacks are going too fast to follow clearly but Kalmaar manages to hit Bentho and he dropped his spear higher up on Worjira's head. Bentho almost falls off but he catches himself, and starts to get up but Kalmaar launched himself at Bentho with his trident charged. Bentho jumped to the side, does a barrel roll and somehow he grabbed his spear while doing so. He fires a shot at Kalmaar and gets the rest of the way up Kalmaar gets back up as well.
"Father should have left you where he found you." Kalmaar spat rising to his full height, he swung his trident to his side. "You're nothing but fish bait."
Bentho aimed his spear at Kalmaar.
"You will pay for what you did to him!" He charged, giving a battle cry.
Again they go so fast in there actions that it is hard to tell what is happening. Soon they are locked together in a battle of strength, spear and trident locked together. Both not backing down,
"It's about time I taught you some respect!" Kalmaar said wrapping one of his tentacles around the base of Bentho's spear and disarming him. With one of his tentacles he snaps the spear in half and discards the remains. Kalmaar lifts himself to his full height and Bentho backs away till he's at the very edge of the sea serpents head.
"Bow down to your new king!" Kalmaar howled as he kicked Bentho off of the serpents head.
Bentho falls but he manages to grab one of his arrows, "You will never be my king!"
He chucked it at Kalmaar blocks it with his trident and the electric shock from the arrow causes the trident to shatter blasting Kalmaar backwards. Bentho lands on the roof and helps Annabeth who is out numbered. But everyone is wary of Kalmaar and Worjira.
Kalmaar gets up, his hand drifts to his head when he doesn't find the crown he looks around, but doesn't grab the crown instead grabbed the sparking remains of his trident. Kalmaar got to his feet, "What have you done?"
Worjira's eyes shimmer turning blue, Worjira roars and swings her head from side to side, hitting it on the side of the building causing it to shake and momentarily stopping the fight on the roof, while she was trying to dislodge Kalmaar. Kalmaar slams the broken bit of trident into Worjira's head ordering, a little insanely. "Destroy them! Destroy them!"
Worjira enraged by this tosses Kalmaar in the air and opens her maw. Kalmaar didn't stand a chance; Worjira's eyes turn red once before turning blue once more. She turned her full fury to the roof where she prepared to blast it with storm energy.
"Run!" Hazel yelled. And everyone even the merlopians made a mad dash for cover.
But a blast of water hit Worjira and stopped her from blasting anything. A dragon made completely out of water, growls, before it flapped its wings once, before getting ready to attack Worjira.
"Is that Percy?" Hazel demanded.
The dragon roared, sounding strongly of the son of the sea god.
"It sounds like him." Leo said.
"And he sounds ticked off." Frank added.
Percy in dragon form, attacked Worjira grabbing her by the neck, and flew up tossing Worjira into an abandoned building. The building crumbled under the force of the attack, Worjira falls into the water causing a large splash.
All the demigods on the roof rush over to the side of the building, in time to see Worjira launch herself out of the water and face Percy who was hovering just above the water's surface still in dragon form. Worjira rams her head into him and Percy slams into the building causing it to shake. Everyone on the roof cries in alarm. Percy growls and pushed off of the building launching himself back into the air.
Worjira blasts the roof with storm energy; everyone scrambles to get out of the blast. Percy swoops down and grabs Worjira's horns pulling her away from the roof and slamming her into another nearby building. Percy circled round the building as Worjira shook her head and as Percy came to face her she sunk slowly beneath the waves. Reappearing seconds after and she wrapped her serpentine body around him. Percy struggled and managed to break free, both creatures roar, Percy just above Worjira flapping his wings to keep himself adrift, the storm amulet starts to crackle with energy.
A storm forms out of sight of Percy, Purple lighting strikes Percy who screams, as the electricity lanced through his body. Worjira repeatedly struck him, Percy's body thrashed against the assault, once the lightning stopped Worjira attacked Percy before he could recover. Blasting him with storm energy, Percy roared before his body turned into water droplets.
"No!" Annabeth screamed. Bentho grabbed her arm to keep her from attacking the serpent.
Worjira rose to her full height and gave a short roar, as she turned her attention to the horrified people on the roof. She was about to blast them, all of the demigods flinched and covered their heads with their hands when a storm formed behind Worjira.
A wordless shout could be heard, blue lightning flashed, and a gray cloud gathered. Worjira turned her head and stared at the gathering clouds. Which started to glow with a blue light, something was forming within it. A familiar dragon spread his wings, the clouds dissipated, blue lighting flashed behind Percy illuminating the scene. The dragon dived spinning on its side once before it condensed, forming a familiar figure from waist up. Percy was flying at Worjira at full speed, fist extended, his other was at his side giving him a small resemblance to Jason.
"Percy." Annabeth said.
Worjira roared, as Percy came closer. Percy narrowed his eyes, and slammed into the wave amulet, he disappeared into it. The wave amulet exploded causing a blast of power so strong that everyone was blasted off of their feet and launched a few feet back.
Worjira roared, purple lightning flashing across her body, she howled before a blast of purple lightning so strong lifted her into the air, her whole body shaking and purple lightning lancing across it, until she started to glow then disappeared in a flash of purple energy.
Everyone on the roof stared in amazement, a glowing figure launched out of the water and landed on the opposite side of the roof with a thud.
"Percy!" Leo cried.
Percy turned and faced them.
"Way to go! We knew you could do it!" Frank said beaming.
Annabeth stepped forward, "Percy! You did it." She attempts to hug him but she passes right through his torso, she steps back in surprise.
"That's going to take some getting used to. But we'll figure out a way to change you back. Don't worry." Leo said.
"Back?" Percy echoed tilting his head slightly.
"To normal. You know the old you." Annabeth said.
"Normal?" Percy looked at his hand.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?"
The sun shines through the clouds, and a whale's song can be heard. Percy steps away from Annabeth, so he can clearly see the sea and glows brightly.
"Do you hear it?" Percy asked face full of wonder.
"Hear what?" Annabeth asked worried.
"The sea. It's so loud. So powerful."
"I calls to him." Bentho whispered.
Percy's body ripples violently, Annabeth gasps in alarm. "Percy?" She asked reaching a hand out.
"Sorry, it's difficult keeping this shape." Percy said staring at his hands. The ripples had stopped.
"What do you mean 'shape'? That's… that's what you are!" Annabeth asked.
"What I was. Yes."
Annabeth's face turned worried.
"I have to go now." Percy side stepped her and started to walk to the edge of the building. "I will remember you."
"Remember? What are you talking about? You're not going anywhere." Leo said when Percy passed him.
Percy continued as if he couldn't hear him. Annabeth started to follow him.
"Percy. Stop, wait listen." Annabeth stepped in front of him. "Something is wrong with you. You have to concentrate. You have to focus; you have to turn back…" she said while taking small steps back as Percy didn't stop.
She stopped after she said that hoping for some response. Percy walked right through her continuing to the edge of the building, as if nothing had happened. He had almost reached the edge Annabeth took one step to follow and tried to grab his hand but it melted, then she stopped.
"No. Don't leave me." Annabeth's voice shook.
Percy paused then turned, smiling bitter sweetly as he grabbed Annabeth's hand. She cupped hers and held his, her lip trembled. Percy leaned forward and kissed her cheek, his hand running down her arm and his hand finding hers. Before he turned and took the final step to the edge of the roof and he stepped onto the railing.
"Percy, Please. What every your hearing, whatever you're experiencing. Fight it, Percy. Remember who you are. Remember." Will said.
Percy looked back at them, "I am Percy. I am the sea. We are one."
Annabeth stepped forward, "Percy… I love you."
Percy smiled.
"No," Annabeth whispered. "No." She repeated as she rushed to the side as Percy turned to jump. "No, no, no!" Percy jumped. "Come back!" She wailed reaching as far over the side as she could. But Percy had vanished into the sea.
He reappeared at the edge of the city floating above the water his waist and below a water spout, He reached out his hands and lifted them and serene look on his face. All of the water in the city sank back into the ocean.
"You are my friends. All of you, and I will never forget." He reenters the ocean and disappears.
