"Do you think she will come?"Kate asked her sisters. They were standing away from the group of vampires that had gathered as witnesses to the growth of Edward's child. The Cullens had reach out for help after Alice had a vision of a vampire named Laurent going to the kings and reporting the creation of an immortal child. Initially the Denali wanted nothing to do with the situation but gave into Carlisle's pleading. Now they were waiting for the kings to come with the guard to confront everyone. They fully expected that they were all going to be killed regardless if they were innocent or not.
"I'm sure she will."Tanya replied.
"Do you think she will be able to save us again?"Irina asked.
"Is it right for us to ask her to?I mean she already gave up her life in exchange for our own."Kate said.
"Even though she has been with the Volturi this whole time I have no doubt that she still cares for us. We are her sisters."Tanya told them.
"Sisters that she gave up everything to save and now we are throwing her sacrifice away by aligning ourselves with the Cullens."Irina wasn't happy with being put in this situation but as soon as Edward had brought the child to their home they had been implicated. It didn't matter if they didn't want to be there. They were because Edward forced them to be.
"We have no choice. Edward took that away from us when they exposed us to the child."Tanya was just as unhappy as her sisters about being there. The only reason she didn't make them ignore everything was because the kings would know they had knowledge of the child.
"We could go to the Volturi ourselves and explain what is going on."Kate suggested.
Irina laughed humorlessly."You honestly think the kings would believe us?"
"No."Kate didn't think that at all."I was just trying to think of a way to not make Bella's sacrifice be for nothing."
Tanya winced hearing their sister's name being said out loud."Maybe we will be alright. The kings are going to obviously be upset but I don't think they will focus on us. We have nothing else they want and if they kill us they have nothing to hold over Bella to keep her loyal to them."
"That's if she isn't loyal to them already."Irina didn't like saying it but someone had to.
"She would never be loyal to the kings!"Kate tempered her voice when she noticed the attention she was garnering from the other vampires in the clearing."How dare you accuse her of such a thing."
"There is no way that she would give her full loyalty to the kings. Not after all they have forced her to do."Tanya knew that Bella wasn't a willing member of the Volturi. Their sister was too good of a person to have been corrupted like that.
"How can we be sure? There have been no sightings of her since she left us. For all we know they could have killed her."After Bella had left with the kings she hadn't been seen. Irina, Tanya and Kate had inquired about her over the years and no one even knew who they were talking about l. Irina wouldn't be surprised if they had killed Bella just out of spite.
"They wouldn't have killed Bella. She is way to valuable to the kings. Plus Edward has never been able to read the kings' minds and the only one we know who has a gift that would make that possible is Bella."Kate said.
"I wonder why Alice is able to have visions of kings. Bella's gift shields from mental influence. It should be able to block Alice's gift."That was another reason Irina wasn't sure if Bella alive. The kings would have used her to block Alice but Alice had numerous visions of the royals. Including the one that led to them being sought out by the Cullens.
"Maybe she is letting it past her shield on purpose. Our relationship with the Cullens is well known as are Alice and her gift. Bella could be letting Alice have visions of the kings as a way to warn us of the dangers coming our way."Tanya wouldn't put it past Bella to do what she could to keep them safe. Even if she had to betray the kings to do it.
"That sounds like something she would do."Kate could easily believe Bella would go against the kings to make sure they got warnings of any dangers coming their way.
"And what have we done with the gift she gave us?We have aligned ourselves with law breakers again."Irina was disappointed in not only her sisters but herself as well for being in this situation.
"The Cullens aren't really breaking the law."Kate said.
"You think the kings will care?"Tanya knew that the kings were more than happy to have the chance to kill off a few of the vampires that were gathered with them.
Kate shook her head."I know they won't. Especially considering who Carlisle has called on for help."
"The Romanians alone are going to piss them off."Irina wouldn't be surprised if the kings attacked before even greeting them.
"I don't understand what Carlisle was thinking inviting them."The Romanians were the last vampires that Tanya would call for help. They weren't trustworthy. It was obvious that they were only there because they hoped it would turn into a fight.A fight if they won they would try to take the thrones for themselves. They didn't care about the child or anything else. They just wanted to be kings again.
"I have always said if it came down to it Carlisle would sell out everyone he knew if Edward was in trouble."Kate said.
"His love for the boy was always going to lead to his death.I just wish he didn't take the rest of us down with him."Irina had always known that Carlisle would eventually involve the Denali in something that would bring the attention of the Volturi. It was one of the reasons she had hated being aligned with the coven.
"Carlisle has always been selfish. It just got worse once he changed Edward. That's the reason we have been distancing ourselves from him. It's just too bad we didn't put in more effort."Tanya only kept a relationship with the Cullens because of Alice. The seer was to valuable of an ally to have. It was just to bad that she brought the rest of the Cullens with her.
"What's our plan for when the kings come?"Irina asked.
"Yeah I don't want to leave our fate to whatever convoluted plan Carlisle and Edward come up with."Kate was expecting the pair to ruin any chance of having the kings listen to them as soon as they opened their mouths.
"I think we should stand away from the group. That would not only show that we aren't aligned with the others but it might give us a chance to plead our case.I bet Aro would be interested in why we were there since one of the conditions of our deal with him was to not associate with law beakers."Tanya at least hoped that Aro would give them a chance.
"We are the only way he has to keep Bella in line.I doubt that he would want to kill us for fear that she would turn against him."Kate was positive that Aro wouldn't want to lose the leverage he had over Bella.
"That brings us back to my point of Bella may have already been killed."Irina said.
"Bella isn't dead. Not only is she a valuable member of the guard but her gift is to powerful for her to ever be bested."Tanya knew they wouldn't kill Bella. They needed her. That was the reason she, Irina and Kate were spared so Aro had a way to control her.
"Then why hasn't she been seen?"Irina wasn't willing to let the subject drop."Aro would show her off as he does his other prized guards. The fact he didn't makes me think that she isn't alive."
"Or he wants to keep her hidden for fear someone will target her or try to recruit her."Kate suggested.
"Bella is alive and I have a feeling that we will get proof of that tomorrow."Tanya knew that Aro wouldn't leave his shield behind when dealing with Edward.
"I almost don't want to see her."Irina quickly explained when she noticed the looks her sisters were giving her."Not because I hate her but because it will be hard to not run to her and make sure she's alright.I mean we haven't seen her in over a thousand years don't you two want the chance to talk to her?"
"Of course we do. We probably won't get it though."Tanya understood exactly what Irina was saying. She to wanted a chance to talk to Bella but knew that it was just a pipe dream. The kings would never allow them the opportunity to speak to their sister. Bella would have already reached out to them if he did.
"I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to see if she's there. If she is then maybe we can somehow figure out a way for her to speak to us without the kings knowing."Kate suggested.
"I wouldn't count on finding a way. If there was I'm sure she would have figured it out already."Tanya said.
"True Bella was always the smartest out of the four of us."That was another reason Irina wasn't sure Bella was alive because Irina knew if she was Bella would have reached out to them already.
"Well I'm not giving up hope.I just need some time to brainstorm."Kate wasn't deterred by her sisters. She was sure there was a way to talk to Bella and she was going to find it.
"I think I'm going to go write her a letter. Maybe if we can't speak to her there would be a way to get her a note."Tanya wasn't as confident as Kate that they would be able to talk to Bella but she wanted to be prepared if they could.
"I think I will as well."Irina may not believe Bella was alive but on the off chance she was Irina wanted the chance to tell her sister everything she had wanted to over the years.
"I'm going to write one to but even then I'm going to try and figure out a way to talk to her."Kate said.
"I'm hoping you do."Tanya would be beyond happy if they had a way to have contact with Bella. Ever since their mother had died and Bella was forced to leave with Aro the sisters had been incomplete. Bella was the one the three of them turned to for comfort and to take care of them when Sasha was off doing what they now knew was dealing with the child. It was Bella who kept everything from falling apart. When she left it had taken Tanya, Irina and Kate centuries to even begin getting over their grief and even now it hung over them like a cloud. Looking at the determined expression on Kate's face Tanya said a prayer to a god she stopped believing in asking him to please reunite the sisters.
