"spoken speech" 'signed speech'
Being a medical student in one of Coruscant's top universities wasn't all it was made out to be. A good example would be where you went to have a drink. 79's outside of being the clone bar was also a relatively inexpensive method for getting drunk. Especially if one dressed the part and played her cards right around the men there. Though, with how cheap the drinks were, it usually wasn't necessary.
Your lab partner Mina and another lab pair you'd been grouped with for larger things had all become friends. Having learnt to do pathology samples together and most lower risk patient rounds, you'd both become in sync with each other. Even to the point where she'd taught you sign language. Her little sister had a type of deafness that there was no way to fix. You weren't sure why anyone would want to change something so central to who Jane was. She almost seemed happier to you, not having to hear the idiots of the galaxy and having her conversations be a little more private.
Ryan and Dora were usually with you and Mina for most dissections. Handling a dead human body together had certainly bonded you all in a way that you hadn't expected when signing up for medicine. So had learning about tendrils and lekku from cadavers when you were all human. The smell of it all, no matter how well preserved, lead to Ryan and Dora learning sign from you and Mina to make those labs easier.
That was how you'd all come to default to sign when a clone that saw one of you as a conquest was within earshot. Still on the first round, a clone started staring. You were pretty sure it was at Dora but you weren't entirely sure. It didn't really matter to you. You were too busy bitching about professor Roland Sykes. You had expected a class on rare diseases to include conditions it was possible to see and have to diagnose within your lifetime. "But what application is there for knowledge on a photophosphorylative disease specific to parwans?" You argued back against Dora. Even without the fact that arguing probably made her attractive to her admirer, you were also pissed that she was defending a professor that actively sought to waste your time. You couldn't help the exaggerated eye roll you did when Mina gave Dora a heads-up and Dora got all excited in response. 'Boy behind you is coming over in 5.' And like an idiot, Dora didn't stop her head from looking over her shoulder to see if she could work out which guy Mina just told her about. 'Looks more like a man than a boy.' You honestly found it cringe-worthy when they acted like that. A little exhale through your nostrils which was out of both annoyance and amusement caught the attention of the others. You shook your head a little at them. 'Looks like every other man in here.' You kinda wished that you knew a way to describe the guy as generically male and didn't have to side with Dora.
He eventually had the courage to ask Dora for a dance and Mina got off with some other guy. Then it was just you and Ryan. As great as technology was, nothing beat old-fashioned flashcards for impromptu study sessions. Only 4 drinks in, you were fine to study. You only drank a simple cocktail with 3 shots in. Maybe another 2 drinks and you could get into the perfect state for the base of an essay on the differences on mikkian and natoulan tendrils when diagnosing traumatic brain injury. You gave Ryan your cards on infection prevention and treatment on impoverished planets. Ryan gave you his cards on metabolic disease in twi'leks. You both shuffled the cards and got ready to play, still keeping an eye on your respective lab partners. You appreciated your friends greatly, but it made you really realise that you weren't anywhere near as pretty as them. Then there was Ryan, who almost had a fetish for clones but struggled to find one that was openly into guys. Whether it was the toxic lads nature that they had or it was a quirk of the ways their hormones in gestation were manipulated and regulated, you hadn't a clue. No matter how scarce clones that openly like men were, Ryan was like a beacon to them. When one eventually pulled him. It was just you and the drink Ryan had ordered but not had a chance to touch. You downed his drink, and took a deep breath before beginning your essay.
From when he'd walked in with his brothers, he'd noticed you. The beautiful nose you had and the enchanting complexion of your skin. The uneven shade. The way your eyebrows expressed so much. He'd seen many faces from a distance and found that they'd been just as uninteresting up close but your face was captivating to him. Then he saw you roll your eyes and couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to spank you for rolling your eyes at him. Tech was too busy analysing the behaviour of everyone he could reasonably see and hear. Wrecker was too busy being loud and challenging Crosshair to something he'd never win. All whilst Crosshair looked at you, a girl he was sure he'd never win.
Later when Hunter and Cody joined the group, he learnt how obvious his staring had been the whole time. He hoped that it had been simply from them having been around him for so long. Otherwise, it meant his ability to stay inconspicuous as the team's sniper could be compromised. When you were alone, writing up a storm on some paper and his brothers had pressured him enough, he finally approached you. He sat himself next to you. You looked up at him briefly and said, "You aren't mikkian or natoulan so you are of no use to me." Before your eyes scanned over the dance floor to check on your friends and then back to your work. Having an obvious extra few inches in height on the other clones, he hadn't had instant disinterest from a clone-bunny in 79's. There was no obvious reason for him to've joined you. When he spoke, it was obvious that his voice did as much for him as everything else about him. "I hate to break it to you, but everyone here is human or twi'lek." That was the norm for 79's. Clones and the girls that wanted to get fucked by them. You looked at him for a second with what looked halfway to a glare before turning back to your work. "Find the person proving you wrong and I'll talk to you." You truly were a conquest worthy of his patience and keen eye. Even he hadn't noticed the hapan tucked away in a corner with a blue twi'lek beside her. That was until he knew to look for someone outside of the two major species in the galaxy. That was until he noticed a kiffar woman outside of your line of sight. "Did you mean the hapan or kiffar as the single non-human or twi'lek here?" He asked in a cocky tone.
"A kiff-kriff!" You'd gone to look up to see where the kiffar was but instead saw things were going south for Dora. "Excuse me a moment." You walked as fast as you could without running over to Dora and the clone trying to stick his tongue down her throat in a way you knew she wasn't into. "Drena, that little admiral of yours just commed." You said in as a teasing voice as you could manage. You played out the little routine where the person receiving unwanted attention was dating an admiral. Always with a fake name that was similar to make the person react the same as if they'd heard their actual name. As upset as the clone was, he let her go. She returned to the table with you to meet the grey haired guy that sat there. You looked back over at Dora to make sure she was okay and you saw her eyes. It was the same look she had when you did dissections focusing on organs with blood purification functions. Before you were within earshot, "Oh, I'm dibsing that hottie at our table." You tried not to let your face fall. It honestly did a little but Dora didn't notice. At least it would be less embarrassing than the time you actually tried flirting with a guy Mina didn't want and he ignored you to be able to watch her as she got off with another guy. "Have fun." You pretended to be encouraging and put a little laugh behind it. Not that Dora noticed it was a lie.
You sat down away from the man and pulled the notebook and your drink to your new seat, making way for Dora. You started focusing on your work again to shut out the disappointment in your chest. Dora introduced herself and sat next to the man who introduced himself as Crosshair. You drank some more of your drink and got to writing. You were so good at blocking them out that it took Dora a few attempts to get your attention. When you realised she was trying to talk to you, you gave a small hum and looked up at her. "Did you want another drink?" You turned her down and looked back down at your essay remembering what you were at as she got up and went to the bar. You noticed that Crosshair moved next to you again. "Don't worry, she'll be back in a minute."
"I actually wanted you." You weren't sure if it was the cool dangerous tone of his voice or the words he said that made your stomach tingle. You looked up at him a little confused. "Did you not notice my friend fancies you?" It was the only thing you could think of. The normal thing would be that they'd been rejected but Dora was too excited about him to turn him down that quick. "I noticed but I don't want her." You couldn't help but roll your eyes. You were trying to work out what angle he was playing. Then a single slender finger ghosted the underside of your jawline until it reached under your chin. Your eyes met his which had already been intently staring into yours. "I want you." He spoke slowly, emphasising each word. If you were honest, you wanted him too. Your eyes betrayed you as they flicked down to his lips before you made them go back to his eyes. You tried to pretend you hadn't just been imagining him kissing you. He smirked and brought his face toward yours. Like a magnet, your lips were drawn to his. It was passion and fire and completely under his control. You were completely under his control and it was electrifying in every exciting and tantalising way imaginable.
"Let me make you mine." He breathed out against your lips as soon as he'd broken off the kiss. He toyed with you, ghosting his lips over yours until you replied, "Yes, sir."
