Life in Sugar Rush couldn't be better. Luke was king of Sugar Rush now and he had a beautiful girl by his side. He loved Luna more than life itself. She was a great racer and always knew the right things to say when her fellow racers felt down-and-out.
She always kept up with the latest racing trends and often changed with them in the form of racing suits and paint jobs on her kart, which was known as the Sour Power Speedwagon. She had adoring fans that were Sour Patch Kids in every color of the rainbow and she also had a guitar that she played at The Chocolate Bar every night for the patrons. Sometimes she'd take her show to Tapper's bar, where the arcade patrons would come and hear her play and sing.
Today, Luke was doing some work on the game's city structure, drawing up plans for a new rock club called the Crystal Rock Club. He had been wanting to put a rock club in since he spawned into the game.
He was also doing this for Luna, who he loved very much.
With Luna, she thinks about her family. She kinda missed them. She loved her life in Sugar Rush, but thought of her family often.
But when she met Luke for the first time in Sugar Rush, he was everything she knew he'd be. Charismatic, charming, kind, loving, caring, intelligent, and lots more things. She also admired his many skills. He was also into music, just like her.
Today, she was at the kart detail shop, getting a new paint job done on her kart. She teared up, thinking of Lana.
"Is somethin' wrong, Miss Sour-Shock?" One of the kart detail shop workers, who was one of Rancis' male peanut butter cup fans, asked.
"No." Luna says.
"You seem sad." The peanut butter cup says to her. "You know you can talk to me."
This was a worker Luna met up with often and trusted, and they talked about life and kart detailing over coffee and pastries almost every day.
"Seeing you fix my kart and stuff makes me think of my little sis Lana. She was a whiz at this." Luna says.
"She must really be something." The peanut butter cup says.
"She really is." Luna says.
"How're things between you and Luke these days?" He asked.
"Great!" Luna says. They chat as the peanut butter cup helps with Luna's new paint job.
Later, it was roster race time. Luke got ready as he tried on different racing suits.
He chose one of his Arctic blue racing suits that fit him just right, the helmet that Luna made for him with the initials "L.S." in silver on both sides with a silver stripe going down the middle, his signature silver & blue peppermint-inspired racing goggles, and dark blue racing gloves.
He laced up his shoes, grabbed his keys, climbed into the Silvermint Special, and drove off to the track.
With Luna, she gets her racing outfit on. Today, that consisted of a sleek purple racing suit with rainbow stripes down the sides of it, a Sour Patch-sponsored racing helmet made by her fans, racing goggles in the four main colors of Sour Patch Kids, bright yellow racing gloves, and colorful headphones with yellow Sour Skittles on each earpiece.
She laces up her boots, grabs her keys, and goes off to the track in her Sour Power Speedwagon.
On Earth, the siblings were just doing their normal things. Lincoln was thinking of Luna.
He missed her a lot, and wished to visit her soon.
Lucy lays on her bed. She had feelings for Luke for a while, but Luna had more courage and confessed a lot quicker. It made her a bit jealous.
In Sugar Rush, Luke smiled as he stood behind his royal blue curtains and waited for his intro.
"Citizens of Sugar Rush, it gives me great pleasure to introduce the brightest star of Sugar Rush and your rightful ruler, King Luke Silvermint!" Luke's assistant, Wintermint, says.
Luke bursts out from behind the curtains as the crowd of candy fans cheer from their respective stands.
"Thank you, thank you!" Luke says. "And thank you to today's avatars! It was a wonderful day of some real great racing! But now the arcade is closed, so now it's time to wipe the slate clean and race to decide our new roster!"
The crowd cheers louder.
"The rules? Oooh, so very simple!" Luke says. "The first ten racers across that finish line will represent Sugar Rush as tomorrow's avatars!"
"RACE! RACE! RACE!" The fans chant and cheer.
"All right, now. Calm down. Listen, this event is pay-to-play. We all know this, because no one races for free here. The fee to compete is one gold coin from your previous winnings, if you've ever won, which I have, of course! Let me go first!" Luke says as he pulls a lever. He then tosses his coin in and watches it go into the cup at the very top of the starting line.
"Luke Silvermint!" The announcer shouts.
"We'll weather the storm together!" Luke shouts as his blue peppermint and cookies & cream Hershey Kiss fans cheer and chant his name.
Luna throws in her coin next. "Luna Sour-Shock!" The announcer says.
"I'm so sour, you'll be in for a shock!" Luna says as her Sour Patch Kid fans cheer and shout for her.
Vanellope smiled from her seat in Luke's stands. She would often come to visit from Slaughter Race, just to see how things are going and to visit Luke.
Meanwhile Lucy was walking around her room, writing about how she felt. She was jealous of Luna. She had Luke, she had a racing career, and she had new friends.
Lucy's face was red. She loved Luke. She was hoping she could tell Luna that she liked Luke, but she indirectly caused Luna to confess her own feelings toward Luke. But Lucy couldn't bring herself to hurt Luna.
She felt something run down her cheek. She was crying, which was rare, but she wiped her tears, hearing Lynn ranting, and plays dead.
"What are you complaining about, Lynn?" Luan asked.
"I lost." Lynn says, having lost her game. "What's with Lucy?"
Lucy froze. "I'm not crying." She lied and hid her book.
"Lucy, are you okay?" Luan asked.
"Sure, I am. Same as always. Don't bother worrying about me…" Lucy says.
"You can tell me." Lynn says.
"I have feelings for Luke. But I waited too late." Lucy says sadly.
"You still need to tell him." Lori says, having been listening in as Lucy looked embarrassed.
In Sugar Rush, the race was getting ready to begin. Luna jumped into her kart with a smile. Luke positions himself in his royal box.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for those six magic words…LET THE RANDOM ROSTER RACE COMMENCE!" Luke says before sliding down his minty blue royal banner and into the Silvermint Special.
A marshmallow waves the checkered flag as the racers soon take off, with Luna taking an early lead as her Sour Patch Kid fans are excited.
Luke was in third, behind Adorabeezle, who was in second place. Adorabeezle was well-known for her technique on the track, and she means business when she drives her Ice Rocket, a Rocket Pop kart with red, white, and blue peppermint wheels and a 2 on both sides.
Luke growled as the roster race's first course came into view, which was Diet Cola Mountain Circuit. The thing about this track was you had to watch out for the falling Mentos. If you got hit, you would get burned.
Luna drove into the tunnels and made good time as she kept her kart in a good position, driving on the track.
Luke growls as he runs into a power-up box.
"Soda Seekers!" The announcer shouted. Soda Seekers were the equivalent of the Sweet Seekers, except these would hit your opponents head-on.
He used it on Adorabeezle, knocking her into sixth place as he drove into second, just behind Luna.
The second course was Lollipop Luge, a track full of funky loops and adrenaline.
Luke was behind Luna as the race entered this track.
Luna drifted, gaining a boost. She then ran into a power-up box, getting an All About The Power Of The Sour! power-up. A bottle of sour spray appears on her kart and she starts spraying, the spray hitting Luke and Minty Sakura as it stuns them.
Luke hissed, looking pissed off. Luna's fans went nuts.
The third track on the race course was the Old Fizziful Geyser. This track had puddles from the geyser's many explosions, so it would prove to be a challenge, even for the most experienced racers. If the geyser exploded during the race, it would get very messy.
Luna was still holding her lead as she sped around.
Luke got a boost, getting him closer to Luna, then he hit a power-up box.
"Whip It Good!" The announcer says. A whipped cream cannon appears on Luke's kart and he aims it at the mouth of the geyser, shooting a huge glob of it inside the geyser, calming it down. Luke's fans cheered upon seeing that.
Rancis was catching up as he took second place.
The final course was Minty Frosting Metroplex. Luke was in fourth place at this point.
Minty Sakura drifted ahead as Luke charged up, pissed. Luke was now in fifth.
Luke needed a good power up. He ran into a power-up box, getting exactly what he needed.
"Gummy-Bear-It-All!" The announcer says as a gummy bear cannon spawns on Luke's kart. He shoots gummy bears all over the track, causing many racers ahead of him to get stuck, including Luna. The thing about this power-up is the combination of the hot tires and the sticky candy will leave you stuck for a short time.
Luke smiled, finally in the lead. But what he didn't know was that this particular race was a big one for Luna if she had won. This would have been her 100th roster race in first place, earning her the Candypocalypse achievement. He did hate losing, but he saw the look on his girlfriend's face when he passed her. It wasn't a good look.
Adorabeezle followed close behind. The finish line was straight ahead.
The roster went in this order: Adorabeezle Winterpop, Luke Silvermint, Luna Sour-Shock, Rancis Fluggerbutter, Taffyta Muttonfudge, Swizzle Malarkey, Minty Sakura, William Wild-Stripe, Candlehead, and Citrusella Flugpucker.
Luna got out of her kart and just took her third-place trophy before going back to her house. She felt very upset. Luke didn't know what to think. He started to feel guilty.
Luna stormed through her front door, shoved the bronze trophy into a closet, took off her boots and helmet, threw off her goggles, took off her racing suit, changed into some comfy clothes, and started watching rock & roll music documentaries while eating some cookies & cream ice cream.
"I'll probably never win my 100th roster race…" Luna sighed. Tonight would have been her night. But it's not. Now everyone is celebrating with Adorabeezle for her win tonight. Luna soon began to cry.
Luke came up to her house. Luna sniffed as she answered the door.
"Hey…um…I'm sorry." Luke says. "I just wanted to win, but I guess I really hurt you in the process. Then neither of us won to begin with, but I still feel bad."
"It's okay. All good." Luna says. She couldn't stay mad at Luke for long.
The two of them settled on Luna's couch together and kissed.
