If someone had told Hugo about all the crazy stuff that was going to happen that day, he wouldn't have believed it; and heck, he literally lived with 2 superheroes and a bunch of magical creatures, so he was saying something here!

It all started as a usual friday morning. The drooling 11 year-old boy had lazily woken up last, after being called 3 times in a row by none other than Ladybug's voice. It had needed his obnoxious 16 year-old sister's presence to finally make him open his eyes and slowly starting getting dressed.

"Hi Dad, Hi Plagg.." he had shouted (or more accurately yawned) over the closed bathroom door, recognizing an electric razor's sound, while crossing the corridor to go downstairs, where he was met with a delicious fumet.

How lucky he was to have a "Child-of-bakers" doting mother!

The appetizing scent had done wonders to give him energy and the pre-teen almost jumped on the living room table; causing his sister and the Kwamis comfortably installed to look up at him, and for the other "mess" present there to growl.

A mischievous smile had appeared on his face as he found the disheveled elders of the Agreste children face down against the table, not having enough energy to even articulate a coherent welcome.

" Hi Mom, Emma, Tikki, Mullo! And Hi to you too Louis! Seriously, I miiiiiight be the laziest of us all, but at least I'm looking like something in the morning! "

Somehow, Louis had found in himself enough strength to lock his tired and annoyed green eyes into Hugo's turquoise ones. Seeing how he didn't wear his glasses, he had already put his lenses on.

"I swear…. when you'll go to Uni and have so many books to read and exercises to do you can't even see the bottom of your desk, you will eat that shit-grinning face you're making…"

How tempted he had been to stick out his tongue like an insufferable brat, but before he could have elevated the brotherly debate to a next level, Marinette had decided to interrupt them, crossing her arms, still holding the spoon in her right hand.

"Boys, not so early in the morning please…..Hugo, you know very well that your brother is exhausted with all the late study he has to do, leave him at peace, please. But if you're too interested in bickering early morning, I might give Emma or your father your pancakes instead…"

And like if she had pronounced a magic formula, Hugo had immediately installed himself obediently on his chair.

"Sorry Mom! I'm not doing it again (for the day). You wouldn't want to starve your growing son who really needs his breakfast, yes?"

Marinette had rolled her eyes, knowing exactly who her boy inherited his bold demeanor, colgate grin and those pleading eyes, but couldn't hide the smile spreading on her face.

"Glad to have restored my family's harmony once again. As a price, You may deserve your pancakes, just wait for a few minutes mon chéri."

Emma, very receptive to humor, had laughed so hard she had almost elbowed Tikki and Mullo out of the table. She had never been known to be delicate with her surroundings, so the two Kwami had known better and graciously dodged the incoming arm, while still devouring their portions, unfazed.

" Too bad, I wanted Hugo's pancakes too, too bad!" the girl replied, getting up to bring her plate back to the sink.

Talking about their family's harmony, the last member of the Dupain-Cheng-Agreste had finally made a remarkable entrance.

"Hello guys! Mmm..if that's not my purrfect wife's cooking I'm s-mew-lling!"

Already rolling his eyes along with his brother, Hugo had still smiled and greeted Adrien as he sat next to him.

From up close, it was incredible how Emma and himself looked like their father : The girl had the perfect color set match, with blond hair and green eyes, and only her smoother long hair groomed with 2 buns on each side would remind her of her mother. But it was no match for him, almost being a copy - pasted version of his father at his age, only differences residing on some less spikes and the fusion of eye colors of both his parents. Details a stranger could easily miss if they weren't paying enough attention.

Only Louis would stand at his mother's side, with his raven-short smooth hair, but the green eyes always reminded that the former model was part of his genetics.

They were all quite tall too…or at least destined to be, Hugo had yet to wait for puberty to hit him. Please, if you heard him, Puberty!

Lost in daydreaming munching on his soon-to-be empty plate, Hugo had nearly jumped when his mother had clapped her hands and started to rush her children and husband a bit.

"Look at the time Adrien! You, Emma and Hugo's going to be late for the first lessons! You need to be ready in five minutes!"

"Oww, thinking I will be separated from you all for an entire day really saddens me! Can't I contemplate you a little longer, my Lady?"

"Hush Chaton, don't you make a scene before our children! Besides, aren't your students going to miss their favorite Physics teacher?" She teased back, before landing her lips on his.

"There, have a bonus in compensation. "

Urk, Hugo had seen enough lovey-dovey acts for the morning!

He had stood up and shouted a quick " Getting ready!" before leaving the table as fast as he could.

No, it hadn't been because he couldn't manage his parents flirting, but because he had had something going on in mind.

Seeing Mullo at lunch with them had been an everyday reminder that Emma was, almost, a miraculous holder too.

Almost, because right now, Mullo's owner was still Mylène, although with her being pregnant for the next 5 months and then having to care for the baby, she wouldn't take her miraculous back for a while.

The point being it always irked him that his sister was allowed to bring Mullo with her and even sometimes help as a miraculous holder; while he had been forbidden to.

Sure, she was at the approximative age their parents started being Ladybug and Chat Noir.

Sure, she was very athletic and performed acrobatic gymnastics 7 times a week.

And sure, she was talented as a superhero and eager at the task.

But he was also following defense and battle training with them like the rest of his siblings, and in no time, he would match her, he was certain. He even trained to do parkour with some of his friends after school.

And he had a Kwami willing to work with him!

Bolstered by his resolution, Hugo had opened his parent's room, and effortlessly found the secret placement of the miraculous box.

A long time ago, his mother had given the miraculous to their respective holders for them to be ready and responsible for them; but being the Kwami's guardian meant she could keep them when her companions had an impediment.

And right now, despite Mullo, there was another Kwami currently sleeping cozily in the miraculous box.

"Pscht, Xuppu! Wake up!"

The monkey Kwami hadn't answered at first, but recognizing his partner-in-crime 's voice, he sure had bolted out before him like a ghost.

"Hey Hugo! What's up? Don't tell me you want to bring me to school like last time?" had said Xuppu, half heartedly trying to respect the Guardian amendment while his eyes had betrayed expectation. "It didn't go well the last time you were caught."

" Well…That might be right! But come on, I know you're bored as hell in here. It was fun last time right? And Mom can't be "always" on her guard. We just need to be careful that nobody sees us and we will be fine!"

"That nobody sees you uh? Guess you've already failed then. " had a third voice sprout behind them, making Hugo shriek and Xuppu stiffen.

"P-Plagg? How did you…"

"Know you were up there? I was the king of mischief waayy before you were even born kiddo!..And I've seen you make your first baby steps too by the way. '' had answered the smug cat Kwami. " But don't worry, Adrien doesn't know I'm here with you, and doesn't have a clue about what you're doing."

Hugo had sighted in relief at the statement. Having spent his entire life in Plagg's company was enough to know he still had a chance to put his plan in motion. The cat might be mostly unpredictable but the boy had some resources to rub him the right way.

Sometimes it worked, sometimes not, it was a 50/50 chance.

"Please Plagg, don't tell Mom or Dad about this. I promise you I will get you some cheese on the way back. Can't you allow Xuppu to have some fun too? " He had winked with his special pleading grin; hoping it would work. Please please please.

Xuppu hadn't enjoyed depending on Plagg's willingness, but he had understood that he needed to swallow a bit of pride there.

"Yeah, exactly! I'm so bored since Kim went for his competition in Sweden and I'm stuck here all day! I promise to take care of Hugo in the meantime and to not expose myself. We're not going to transform like last time, just keeping each other company. Please, I..beg you Plagg. "

The black Kwami had seemed to consider the offer, and, deciding humbling one of his fellow Kwami was good enough reward; he had turned around.

"Okay, then I didn't see anything…that is only if I see a delicious camembert at the end of the day lad!"

As he had left, Hugo and Xuppu had faced each other in victory, doing an high-five.

"Youhou, then it's decided! Afterward I will show you the park and our new "training" field…you know, for parkour! I will buy you fresh banana's too."

Definitely excited by the prospect, Xuppu had hid himself in Hugo's vest while the pre-teen had hidden in his vest the collar shaped miraculous ( Kim had asked for a change because wearing a diadem nowadays wasn't exactly ' subtle') , and just in time, they had exited the room for them to hear Adrien's calling.

Walking down the stairs 4 by 4, he had met with the view of his mother readjusting her husband's tie a bit, definitively not suspecting anything of his scheming.

And after everything had been set, Hugo, Emma and Adrien had gone to the car (electric, of course! ); heading to his school first : Françoise Dupont School.

Hugo had heard that Françoise Dupont was the former school of his parents. Louis and Emma had studied there too in the past. Now, while Louis was at university getting his biochemistry license, Emma was studying in High school, in the same establishment their father was working as a physics teacher, although he wasn't her teacher this year.

Him ? He had to stand Mrs Mendeleiev's lessons instead. It wasn't "horrible" per se, but it was time that woman retired, as a teacher and a principal too.

She didn't like technology much and, in 2050, she still wanted them to HOLD A PEN in class or forbid them to use artificial intelligence!

Granted, his parents didn't like them either, having some experience with a high-tech ring used for akuma purpose in the past; but still, he had a connected watch-device developed by a friend of theirs, his uncle Max, able to follow the class at his place and answers the questions if he wished to.

They also had a very cool computer in the school's library with an AI designed to create exercises, quizzes to train, or just discuss about anything they wanted to know about.

Xuppu had been pretty intrigued by him the last time, and even if the Kwami had been flustered when the machine didn't seem to notice his presence, he had been enjoying asking questions Hugo could express for him.

'I might show him more functionality today' the boy had hummed to himself while walking inside the building, moving forwards to his classroom as the bell had rang.

The day so far had gone nicely, and much more enjoyable with Xuppu at his side.

Well, he almost got caught laughing during Earth sciences when Naël his best friend had tried to draw a very deformed version of their teacher on his notebook, or when the Kwami had commented on it (whispering to his ears of course) but he had managed to hold it until the bell rang again to free them for lunchtime.

The following hours however didn't go as smoothly unfortunately.

The first class of this afternoon, Plastic art, had been interrupted by an akuma alert in the 7th district.

It hadn't been close to the school so they didn't have to evacuate for now, but the art teacher seemed to have family near the attack, and had allowed them to go to the playground while she had been taking some important calls.

The students, used to akuma's assaults since their younger age, hadn't been that much fazed, and had enjoyed their gratis free time.

Hugo, him, had looked at the sky from above the stairs in thought, then had tried to follow the news on his smartwatch, to see if his parents or uncles/aunts superheroes had started fighting.

Unfortunately, there seemed to have been an unusual number of akumas popping at the same time; disrupting communications or keeping journalists at bay with violent attacks. Thus, not much intel to collect through the news, except that it announced to be a difficult and long battle.

"I know you want to go help them…but don't worry, they'll do fine. You know we're forbidden to go anyway."

"Yeah, I know Xuppu…but let's say…if one day uncle Kim is sick or just too old, could I replace him you think?"

The Kwami had giggled softly at the reply. "Pff, you tiny humans are so bold, you don't know what awaits you but still want to go ahead first! But yes, of course, anytime!"

Satisfied with this reply, Hugo had walked down the stairs and tried to find his friends from other classes to spend the time with before they received further instructions.

He had soon spotted one of them, named Aysha, being cornered by three other girls under the courtyard.

He had frowned when he had seen the leader of the group pushing the girl one step backward and threatening her; but hadn't been entirely surprised.

No one could ever say Aysha was a bad person, really. She was a frail, candid and shy girl originating from India that had sometimes difficulty to adapt to her surroundings and to read the atmosphere but was globally nice and sweet when you got to know her. Not that introvert, she really tried to open up to anyone willing to welcome her; but she had a very, very bad flaw that was tarnishing her reputation : she couldn't keep a secret to save her life. Worse, she could spit out any unnecessary information even if she wasn't asked to, having delivered fatal shame blows to some of their classmates already.

And seeing how she could become a chatterbox when stressed, she thus couldn't be fully trusted and any people with something to hide would avoid her, meaning a lot of people at school.

It kinda pained him to be only "superficial" friend because he was one of the few people that weren't exasperate with her and would tolerate her presence, and at the same time…she was the least person he wanted to confide in considering the many huge secrets he had to keep for his family's ….no, for entire Paris' security!

That's why he hadn't invited her at home for months now, not since he had learnt about it.

Even if her Mother was a professional 'poker face liar' and had already saved the day when Aysha came over in the past.

Despite all this; He had still approached the group to stop the quarrel before it got ugly for her. Not that he would have to do anything.

"I can't believe you've TOLD him I had a crush on him and before all his friends! Do you know how mortified I am? How I'm supposed to walk before him again ?!

I don't even know HOW you got the info, probably eavesdropping like the little sneaky-bitch you are behind your innocent face!"

"Snif…snif…No I swear I...I just wanted to listen and be part…snif ..of the conversation. I didn't mean to..I'm..sob..I'm sorry …"

"Shut up! I should have believed the curse of your shit-mouth and not let you get closer! I swear if you even approach us again, I will smash that mouth of yours !"

The angry girl had eyed Hugo who was now only a few meters away, and she and her friends had left without another sound, leaving a heartbroken Aysha crying on the spot.

The blond had hesitated to talk to her now that the dispute had stopped, not being the best to deal with" girl's dramas", but couldn't bring himself to just leave like that, without trying to comfort the other girl.

"Hey Aysha…you uh…ok? I'm sorry it didn't go the right way, do you want to talk about it?"

The black-haired girl with caramel skin had fought back another sob and had pitifully replied.

" Oh Hugo…that's so nice of you..snif..but It's my fault again…I said something wrong without realizing…sob..sob…they even gave me a nickname now..nobody will want to be my friend…sob… "

"No…don't say that, I'm your friend right? And Naël likes to hang out with you too…"

"But…If you stay with me..at some point I will just mess it up…snif..like always…snif…You should just leave me alone and you will not get hurt!"

The blond didn't have the time to reply before the girl had fled, probably to the girl's bathrooms.

Well…he had failed miserably at lifting her spirits up (after all, she might have noticed he was also avoiding her sometimes) and soon had looked around the way she went with worry.

'I hope she will not get akumatized though…' he had mumbled, steadying his magical charm in case he had to cleanse a creepy butterfly.

But the bell had rang again and a vocal message from their principal had announced their parents and family would get them home, ordering them to regroup at the entrance of the building.

Soon enough, among the worried parents, he had seen his brother calling for him to hurry up, and had been grabbed by the wrist without further ceremony.

" Multiple akumas have appeared at the same time not far from here and they seem tricky. Papa is busy so he asked me to come fetch you instead of him. I don't know for Emma because they called for reinforcement even from the younger holders; but we have to come home safely."

Hugo had felt his brother had been nervous, much more than usual. His pace had been so fast his clenched wrist had almost twisted. By instinct, he had resisted the grip.

"Hey! You're hurting me! I know you're scared of akumas, but I'm not a child! You don't have to grab me like a baby! Chill! "

"Hugo, I'm not joking. This is serious and I know you think we're trained and safe with Mom and Dad up there, but we have instructions. You know the 'Rules'."

The 'Rules', much more serious and complex than just simple rules, had been established by Marinette for her and miraculous holder children after an incident had happened in the past involving Emma and Maya, Alya's daughter, almost getting heavily injured in a akuma fight as civilians.

They were to follow the 'Rules' no matter the circumstances, and had learnt them by heart.

One of these rules was giving authority to the oldest person in the family or friends present around them, at the condition they could answer/show a code only the miraculous clan could answer.

And to avoid the enemy getting a hold of it, the sign was different according to the person they were to speak to.

Of course, Louis had made the sign by forming a triangle on his wrist while grabbing him, and himself had replied by showing a love and peace sign with his hand in reply.

Only it didn't last long because of the pain.

"Yeah yeah, I know the rules, promise! But won't it be easier for us to run with our two arms free? I swear I'm not gonna do something stupid!"

The raven haired adult had glared at his younger, rebellious brother, to be sure he had meant his words.

"Ok, I'm willing to let your hand go but you must always be around me and never discuss my orders!"

"Yes che…"

And that's when everything had gone so crazy Hugo's recollection had been a mess.

Screams had been heard at the corner of the parallel street behind them, and they had almost lost balance when the top of a building had crashed into pieces, causing shock waves.

He didn't see the akuma itself but some giant bobbly eyes shaped lenses in the air, trying to focalize on different shiny colored figures that had moved so fast they were blurs to human sight; some he however could recognize as superheroes outfit of his aunties/uncles.

A massive glowing red claw had emerged; destroying half of the lenses in an attempt to slow down the villain, but some succeeded to aim and lasers were shot. Unfortunately, if many had missed their targets, one of them had hit a transparent figure wearing a white and blue costume, that had already seemed wounded. The woman, mainly recognizable by the rabbit outfit she had been wearing, had been shot in the leg during her jump and had landed heavily on the ground, not far from them.

Hugo had never seen her before but his brother had seemed to recognize her.

"..B-Bunnyx…Oh no, we need to run quickly!" had whispered a frantic and terrified Louis.

The woman had been hurt, obviously, but there had been something else. She had been holding something broken near her chest, which had been emitting a weird but seemingly powerful aura, and had been fighting against her detransformation at the same time.

"N..no…I…I need to hold up…just a little more…"

At the moment, Hugo didn't understand what she had meant, but seeing her defenseless on the ground, and knowing Xuppu was with him, he had gotten overconfident.

Ignoring his brother's protestation and throwing the 'Rules' in the back of his mind, he had started running towards her, while getting his hand in his vest to find the collar miraculous.

"HUGO! Come back here immediately! HUGO!"

"SHE'S HURT! WE CAN'T LET HER LIKE THAT! "

The collar had soon been at his neck, and he remembered having pronounced Xuppu's name only to be halted by an horrified Allix .

"NO KID! I will not hold any longer! You must run away! "

But it had been too late.

Had it been his fault for distracting her? Or had it been bound to happen?

Anyway, she had seemed to lose control over her miraculous, and suddenly, strange galactic-like tornadoes had emerged in chaotic movement and forms humans couldn't describe with words.

He hadn't seen his brother trying to catch him from behind.

He hadn't seen all the other people of the area trying to flee their doom.

He hadn't seen the strange bat that had tried to plunge toward him.

He had only felt himself being engulfed in a tunnel of light, with blurred sceneries crossing and interlacing in a sick inducing speed; holding Xuppu with all his strength to not lose the only lifeline he had.

The dizziness had been too strong….and he had passed out in the unleashed ocean of time.

Miraculous Ladybug have been haunting me for the past month with the ending of season 5, and this story was so over my head I needed to get it out of my system haha! I've only read a few Miraculous Children AU before but have to say I was dissapointed in the fact some took time travel and informations sharing pretty lightely, with the Child just giving all her infos away the moment they met their parents.
But what Time Travel can propose is so much more than that : The realization, the inquiry to find where you are, the struggle of meeting someone that doesn't know you yet and that's partially a stranger to you, the fear of perturbating the future...
I wanted to illustrate this in this fanfiction, although there would be so much to say it would get too long.

I will add that I'm not a natural english speaker (actually I used to live in Paris so I know my Paris well haha!), and I think I've a good english level; however, expressions that are common in french are so different in english that I might have mistaken senses of some verbs.
I've used Linguee to help me in the matter, but if you see incorrect wording, don't hesitate to notify me!
I'm using french onomatopeas on purpose though, because it takes place in here so I wanted to let it express a bit!

Enjoy!
