Disclaimer: I do not own the Naruto franchise, which is probably a good thing.

A/N: I originally posted these over a decade ago in sets of five, but this time I'm going to be posting them one at a time.

Gaara placed a hand on Matsuri's back as she coughed up water, assessing her physical state.

"Did I make it?" She mumbled, pressing her forehead on the buckled boards of splintered wood. She looked at him with bleary eyes.

Gaara glanced at the stopwatch in his hand. "If this had been a normal mission, the target would have long since fled." The stoic young ninja crossed his arms. "You are not taking this seriously enough."

Matsuri groaned, rolling over on to her back. "I'm trying, Gaara-sensei. I really am. But we've been practicing for hours."

Gaara set the stopwatch back to zero, again. "Very well. We will take a few minutes break, then try again."

Matsuri breathed something that sounded like 'thank you' and her breathing slowed.

Gaara watched his sleeping student for a moment. He placed a hand awkwardly on the top of her head. "Do your best, Matsuri."

A/N: Yeah, idk what they are doing.
