I'll keep this short and sweet. This is a one-shot scene. I don't plan to write a full-blown story involving this scene. I just felt like posting this since I had it written so if you just want to read a full 6v6 battle between Champion-level trainers, here you go. For those of you who want full context on this scene before or after reading it, go to the next chapter, I've included some details. It's not necessary to understand the scene, but if you want to read it there you go.

Out of Context
Salvor Prime, the capital of the Salvor Region and technological metropolis. At the center of the city was a large stadium that was filled to the brim with spectators. The night sky and evening breeze made for the perfect conditions to feel the exhilaration in the air. "Welcome everyone to the Pokemon World Coronation Series, Master Class! We're live from Salvor Prime! There's only one week before the finals tournament begins and the winner of this battle will secure a spot in the Masters 16. Let's introduce the competitors!" The announcer from the control room shines a spotlight on the entrance on one side of the stadium. "She's our very own Salvor Champion! She's kind and caring, but on the battlefield, her cunning strategies leave no room for her opponents to fight back! Amber Knight!"
'I've got to show everyone my strength.' Amber thinks as she approaches her end of the stadium. Not just in Salvor, all around the world fans and other competitors were watching closely. Champions from all over were observing their competition carefully in preparation for the finals tournament.
The spotlight then moves to the other side of the field. "And facing the Champion is a familiar face! She may have style and grace, but you can never tell what surprise she's got up her sleeve! The Champion's greatest rival, ready to rock, it's Renkton!"
Renkton takes her position on the other side of the battlefield. She puts a hand on her hip and smiles. "It's been a long time since we've battled in a place like this."
"It has been awhile." Amber replies.
"I hope you're not getting scared now we're on national TV."
"No, not a bit."
"Well sorry to say, but the Champion is going to take a loss today."
"Well I'm sorry to say that won't happen." Amber takes out a Pokeball and stares at it in her palm. 'Not as long as I can help it.'
A robotic referee drone flies down at the center of the stadium. "This Master Class battle is about to begin. Both trainers will use six Pokemon and the battle is over when all six on either side are unable to continue. There is no time limit and both trainers may exchange Pokemon at will. The battle is over when all six on either side are unable to continue." On the big screen, the photos of both trainers and six Pokeball symbols appear. "Trainers ready? Present your first Pokemon!"
"Perrserking, show them what for!" Renkton throws her Pokeball horizontally like she was pitching a curveball. Appearing from the light inside the Pokeball was the evolved form of Perrserker, the behemoth, Perrserking. It scratches the ground with its claws upon appearing.
"Spread your primal wings, Salamescent!" Amber tosses her Pokeball upside down in a perfectly straight line. Salamescent appears in the sky and roars loudly as it gazes daggers at its opponent.

'I knew she would lead with Perrserking/Salamescent.' Amber and Renkton think the same thing at once. As both Pokemon were on the battlefield, the Pokeballs located below their portraits on the big screen changed to show the face of the Pokemon they sent out.
"Battle begin!" The referee drone lowers its arms.
"Let's start off by using Trailblaze!" Perrserking stomps its massive feet on the ground and kicks up a dust cloud. From that dust cloud, it runs out while cloaked with green energy.
"Stop that move with Fire Blast." Salamescent gets right in the way of Perrserking's path and unleashes a massive flame blast from its mouth and it takes the shape of a cross as it travels.
"Jump and dodge it!" Perrserking digs its feet into the ground and makes a huge leap just before it runs into the flames that sear a charcoal black crater into the stadium floor.
"Jaw Lock, go." As Perrserking gets closer to Salamescent the latter opens its mouth and purple energy engulfs its fangs. Perrserking thrusts its horns and iron-clad head into Salamescent's mouth, colliding its big body with the latter's jaw and sending it flying through the air. Despite the hit, Salamescent shakes off the damage quickly, though it was stunned for a moment.
"Perrserking managed to land a powerful Trailblaze attack, but Salamescent also hits that Jaw Lock. Both seem to be doing okay after that collision!" The announcer says.
"Perrserking's ability is Tough Claws, it increases the power of moves that make contact." Amber mutters.
"Glad you remembered." Renkton adds. Perrserking bends its legs as it lands with a huge thud. "Now keep using Trailblaze." Perrserking, despite being a relatively slow Pokemon, dashes across the stadium like a marathon runner, continuing to get faster and faster with each usage of Trailblaze.
"There's the additional effect of Trailblaze, each usage raises the user's speed!" The announcer and the crowd are in awe of such a large Pokemon moving so fast.
"Okay, Draco Meteor." Salamescent's body glows orange while a sphere of energy gathers inside its body. Then it fires said sphere from its body straight up. The ball splits into multiple meteors that rain down covering a huge area.
"Use Dig." Perrserking leaps and then digs itself into the ground by spinning its body like a drill. The meteors crash into the ground all over, shaking the stadium.
"Draco Meteor is one of the most powerful Dragon Type moves out there. Perrserking uses Dig to avoid it, but let's see how it'll use it against a Pokemon in the air like Salamescent?" - Announcer.
Amber and Renkton keep their eyes focused for the next attack, waiting for now. "Aim at the hole with Fire Blast." Salamescent flies over the hole and unleashes its flames straight into it.
"Jump out!" Renkton quickly commands. As Perrserking jumps out of the ground, the flames just barely erupt behind it, searing part of its fur. Thanks to the massive speed buff from Trailblaze, it managed to escape. "Trailblaze go!" This time when Perrserking used Trailblaze, it moved so fast that it looked like a green blur. It managed to get to Salamescent and strike it before it could react. Still, it being a resisted hit, Salamescent was still in decent condition.
"Hmmf..." Amber takes out a Pokeball, aims it and fires a large red beam that hits Salamescent and returns it. "Magnezone, let's go!" Magnezone's icon appears on the big screen when it appears from its Pokeball.
'Classic Amber plays.' Renkton thinks.
"Use Lock-On." A red ring appears on the circle on Magenzone's face and it transfers to Perrserking's forehead.
"That there is Lock-On, now whatever the next attack is you can guarantee that it won't miss!" The announcer says.
"Screech, let's go!"
"Use Zap Cannon!"
Perrserking opens its mouth and a light blue colored sound wave ripples through the air to surround Magenzone completely and disrupt its focus. As Magnezone slowly generates electricity for its attack, its defensive power is weakened. Finally Magnezone fires a highly concentrated sphere of electricity from its face. The Zap Cannon goes through the Screech and lands a direct hit, exploding violently upon contact.
"And Zap Cannon makes direct contact, its secondary effect means that Perrserking is now paralyzed!" Perrserking gets up after the smoke settles, but sparks emit from its body, halting its speedy movement. Renkton's expression remains unchanged despite the way the battle was going, it was only a natural look all the way. She waits as Perrserking deals with the paralysis for a moment.
"Perrserking is in a bad state, but despite that Renkton isn't exchanging Pokemon!"
"Why would I? Actually I can't even if I wanted to." Renkton explains. "Amber's Magnezone has the ability Magnet Pull, which means Steel Types can't withdraw from a battle with it. Even if I wanted to exchange earlier, Jaw Lock made it so that I couldn't exchange before Magnezone came into the battle. I had no choice at all." Amber looks onwards stoically while Renkton has a smile on her face.
"It looks like Amber's strategy has trapped Perrserking in a very bad scenario, just what we expected of our Champion!" The crowd lets out a round of roars at the announcer's praise.
"Oh well. It's not like that'll stop us, use Dig let's go!" Perrserking digs itself into the ground. For the moment the paralysis wasn't halting its ability to attack.
Amber takes out her Pokeball and returns Magnezone right away. Renkton smirks as she does so. Perrserking comes out of the ground and lands with a thud since Magnezone was no longer present. "Kangaskhan, it's you and me!"
"Amber's third Pokemon is her ace, Kangaskhan!" The announcer declares.
Renkton returns Perrserking to its Pokeball too since Magnezone was off the battlefield. The speed increases from Trailblaze would wear off, but the paralysis wouldn't, meaning Perrserking would be at an even greater disadvantage when it comes back into battle, still Renkton wasn't worried about that as her calm demeanor continued. "Show them what for, Quaquaval, let's dance!" When Quaquaval appears, it spreads its tail and shakes its body while also moonwalking back and forth, combining two distinct dance moves flawlessly and then posing with its feathers extending out as if it was holding fans. "Quaquaval's been practicing hard for this match so don't hold back at all."
"I wasn't planning to." Amber taps the Key Stone located at the center of her flower headband. Energy surges from the stone and merges with the Kangaskhanite on the latter's wrist. "Kangaskhan, Mega Evolve!" Kangaskhan is enveloped in a multicolored glow and the baby inside the pouch grows in size until it comes out of the pouch completely and the glow expels, revealing Mega Kangaskhan. Both Kangaskhan roar with their arms held out wide. "Use Power-Up Punch!" The Kangaskhan immediately dash off with their fists glowing orange.
"Alright, Ice Spinner!" Quaquaval quickly flips over and spins rapidly while its legs are spread out like a gigantic top. Its body is cloaked in icy energy and it turns itself into the spinner before both Power-Up Punches make contact. The rotations per minute of Ice Spinner was so crazily fast that Kangaskhan's attack slowly got pushed back. Quaquaval pushes its arms against the ground and drives forward its attack, smacking both Kangaskhan with its legs back to back to back and sending them both recoiling. "Now use Swords Dance!" Quaquaval gets back onto its feet and rapidly swings its arms around like blades while several swords appear around itself and rotate. Its body is engulfed in a red aura to signify the attack boost.
"Urgh..." Amber winces a little. Kangaskhan's Power-Up Punch had the same effect, as each usage of the move increased its attack power, now doubled since it attacked twice with its ability Parental Bond.
"Close Combat go!" Renkton shouts out. Quaquaval is on the move as it runs towards Kangaskhan while changing directions every few seconds.
"Use Strength!" Amber responds. Both Kangaskhan glow red as it gets ready to intercept the attack. At the last moment, Quaquaval ducks the mother Kangaskhan's fist and lays in with a barrage of physical strikes to its underside. Then when the baby got closer, Quaquaval kicks it away without even looking in its direction.
"Close Combat is super effective! That had to hurt!" The announcer yells while Amber's eyes furrow.
"Follow it up with Aqua Step!" Quaquaval's feathers get cloaked in a light water and it spins around rapidly, heading straight for Kangaskhan.
"Counter it with Drain Punch!" Kangaskhan's fist glows green and a spiraling energy surrounds it as Quaquaval gets closer.
"You know what to do." Renkton says. Quaquaval narrowly sidesteps the Drain Punch and knocks Kangaskhan's arm away. The momentum Kangaskhan had forced it to keep going as Quaquaval had all the leeway to strike with its nimble build and movement. In an instant, a barrage of water-touched strikes lash into Kangaskhan, thrashing it into the ground. Quaquaval then jumps away and keeps up its dance a bit faster because of Aqua Step's additional effect that raises its speed.
Kangaskhan gets up and wipes the dust off its belly. The smaller Kangaskhan stands next to its mother and they were both focusing harder after taking a beating. Amber smiles at that. "Kangaskhan, it looks like your battling spirit has been ignited." Both Kangaskhan nod at once.
"Tough as always, aren't you?" Renkton adds. "Close Combat!" Quaquaval moves in for another close-range attack.
"Use Strength on the battlefield!" Kangaskhan raises its arms up and brings them down like demolition hammers. The ground cracks and rocks start to fly at Quaquaval, intercepting its approach. The latter carefully weaves in between the bits and pieces of debris as it closes the distance. "Keep it up." The little Kangaskhan kicks rocks at Quaquaval using Strength, making the assault of stones even more effective. Quaquaval switches to attacking, using Close Combat to bash through the few stones that were getting in its way. "Power-Up Punch!"
"Close Combat!" Quaquaval puts up both its arms in a defensive stance to stop both Power-Up Punches and then push them to the side in the same way as it did before. Then it turns to the right and starts to thrust its legs and arms to barrage the mother with Close Combat once again.
"Now grab Quaquaval!" Amber fiercely calls out. Kangaskhan opens its eyes in response to its trainer's call and grabs hold of Quaquaval's leg when it thrusts. Quaquaval and Renkton gasp. "Slam it into the ground with Strength!" Kangaskhan glows red and swings Quaquaval like a giant rubber chicken into the ground, leaving a massive crater in the process.
"So even that wasn't enough..." Renkton grits her teeth.
"Power-Up Punch!"
"Dodge it!" At the last second Quaquaval gets up from the crater and avoids both Power-Up Punches that would have razed it flat. Quaquaval quickly retreats back to a safe distance, but both Kangaskhan chase after it right away. "Use Ice Spinner." It turns upside down and coats its rotating body with ice once again to intercept the Power-Up Punches. Kangaskhan and Quaquaval push hard against each other, with neither managing to overpower the other.
"Quaquaval counters Power-Up Punch with Ice Spinner, what an intimidating defense!"
"Not quite! Don't underestimate Kangaskhan's Strength! Break that move, RIGHT NOW!" Kangaskhan and the little Kangaskhan suddenly thrust their arms forwards from the left and right and grab Quaquaval out of its Ice Spinner, stopping the rotation cold. The crowd gasps at the tremendous display of power.
"Unbelievable...!" Renkton mutters. Quaquaval squirms in Kangaskhan's grasp, but its legs were clamped in between the mother's hands and the child had one of its arms gripped in its clutches, thoroughly trapping it in place.
"Drain Punch, let's go!" The mother Kangaskhan rams its fist into Quaquaval's torso and sends it flying into the wall of the arena with another massive crater being left upon impact. The crash was so harsh that the entire stadium could get an idea of how brutal it was. Quaquaval slides down the wall and sits with spirals in its eyes.
"Quaquaval is unable to battle! Kangaskhan is the winner!" The drone announces.
"Quaquaval is down! Its refined dance moves were just not enough to take down Mega Kangaskhan, but still let's applaud its wonderful performance!" The announcer declares and the icon showing Quaquaval on the big screen is grayed out.
Renkton returns Quaquaval to its Pokeball. "Thanks Quaquaval, weakening Kangaskhan like that is more than enough. Your efforts won't be in vain, trust me."
As Renkton stated, Kangaskhan was breathing heavily and draping forwards. Amber takes a deep breath. 'One down, but it's still early. This battle is far from finished.'
"That was only the opening act, taking the stage next is this guy's burning song. Skeledirge, show them what for!" Skeledirge appears out of Renkton's Pokeball. The flames burning from its mouth sear into the air, leaving small pieces of ash to drift away.
"So now it's Skeledirge." Amber murmurs to herself.
"Torch Song go!"
"Use Sucker Punch." Before Skeledirge can fire off its Torch Song, both Kangaskhan come in with their fists cloaked in a purple energy and struck before the former could do anything about it. Skeledirge goes recoiling and almost falls head over tail, but it manages to stay upright despite a powerful hit. "It lived that?" Amber asked.
"Your power boosts from earlier aren't any good against Skeledirge who has the ability, Unaware." Renkton points out.
"Tsk..." Skeledirge then unleashes Torch Song, creating a bird-like projectile of flames that quickly traveled at Kangaskhan. The attack lands a direct hit and explodes violently in Kangaskhan's face, charring its body. As smoke leaves its skin, Kangaskhan falls to its knees and groans with its eyes grimacing.
"That Torch Song was a direct hit, but Kangaskhan is still hanging in there! Talk about endurance, talk about a Pokemon that won't go down until its last breath!"
Amber returns it to its Pokeball before the next attack can be launched. "Thanks Kangaskhan, get some rest until later, okay? Magnezone you're up again!" Magnezone appears in the air above Skeledirge who glows red from Torch Song's effect that raises Special Attack upon each usage.
"Skeledirge, use Torch Song!"
"Zap Cannon go!" Both Pokemon generate their attacks and fire right at the same time. The fiery bird and electric sphere barely miss each other and collide with their respective targets at once, creating two massive explosions on opposite sides of the arena. Magnezone almost falls to the ground as it drifts out of the explosion having taken a lot of damage. Skeledirge is stuck in place since Zap Cannon paralyzed it, though it wasn't much for speed to begin with. Immediately, Amber returns Magnezone to its Pokeball. "Togekiss, fan your graceful feathers!" Togekiss replaces Magnezone in the air and on the big screen. "Air Slash, now!" Amber doesn't waste a single moment calling out another attack. Togekiss releases a barrage of Air Slash cutters from its wings that glowed white. Skeledirge is barraged by the cutters and left completely immobilized as more come in to assault its body left and right.
"Skeledirge, can you attack?" Renkton asked. Skeledirge only responds with a groan while the sparks from paralysis still lingered. 'Its ability is Serene Grace, meaning the additional effects of moves are boosted. No Pokemon has a chance to attack like this.' Renkton returns Skeledirge to its Pokeball before more damage could be inflicted. Those Torch Song boosts were rendered useless very quickly. Renkton looks at the scoreboard, she had two Pokemon paralyzed and one down. She still smiles and looks across the battlefield at Amber. "Hey! How about when this battle is over, we go for a drink together?"
"Hmm?" Amber pauses when she hears that. "I suppose."
"You look like you're so uptight these days. Well I'll have you know I'm really enjoying this battle even if I'm losing. Everything that's happened so far, I expected all of it because it's so very... you."
"Well... thanks?" Amber replied.
Renkton takes out another Pokeball. "Baxcalibur, show them what for!" Baxcalibur appears on the battlefield next. It raises its claws upwards and roars loudly, firing a spout of chilly air into the sky.
"Renkton's fourth Pokemon is Baxcalibur! Can this frigid beast turn the tide of the battle?" The announcer says. Amber and Renkton pause for a moment and stare at each other. They both knew this was far from over because any great trainer knows you never count someone out until the last Pokemon has fainted.
"Let's start with Icicle Spear!" Renkton swings her arm as Baxcalibur's mouth glows light blue and turns into a firing mechanism for icicle spear.
"Dodge it." Togekiss soars across the sky, changing its direction with only the gentlest flap of its wings, gracefully avoiding every attack. "Moonblast!" It ascends and cloaks itself in a veil of misty energy, generating a pink sphere before firing it.
"Knock it away!" Baxcalibur spins around and slams its tail into the Moonblast, battering it like a baseball and sending it crashing into the arena wall without any damage.
"Use Thunder Wave!"
"Freeze-Dry go!"
Togekiss releases an electric pulse from its body at the same time Baxcalibur releases a blue-hued blast from its mouth. The latter shears through the weak electric pulse and blasts Togekiss, coating its feathers with frigid ice. Togekiss slowly floats down with a pained expression on its face. "Use Heat Wave to get the ice off you." Togekiss flaps its wings and unleashes heat in all directions, melting what remained of the ice off its body.
"Baxcalibur! Let's go!" Baxcalibur runs for Togekiss as it uses Heat Wave and rams straight into the flames head-on. It puts up its arms to remain sturdy and then glows a light orange. "There we go." Renkton smirks while Amber grimaces. Amber takes out her Pokeball and returns Togekiss.
"I think right here and now folks we're seeing Baxcalibur's ability, Thermal Exchange! It raises attack power when hit by a Fire move!" The announcer.
"Unsheath your blades, Gallavoir!" Amber throws out her fifth Pokemon. Gallavoir appears and turns its two blades into one twin-bladed staff. It swings the blades around itself like a baton.
Gallavoir = Iron Valiant
"Good, we've been waiting for you." Renkton says. Baxcalibur narrows its eyes and breathes icy air out from its nostrils.
"Use Sacred Sword!" Gallavoir charges at Baxcalibur with both its blades infused with a bright orange energy.
"Use Freeze-Dry on the battlefield." Baxcalibur puts its mouth against the ground and fires Freeze-Dry straight down, freezing the ground in a circle that spreads from its position outwards.
"Gallavoir, jump!" Right before Gallavoir steps onto the ice, it makes a leap over and swings its sword down on Baxcalibur's head, delivering a devastating blow. Baxcalibur is crushed into the ground, cracking the ice below it. "Multiple Sacred Swords!" Amber immediately says. Gallavoir unleashes its skillful bladework on Baxcalibur from close range, slashing over and over again without stopping.
"Baxcalibur is being pummeled by those Sacred Swords! This doesn't look good!"
"Use High Horsepower!" Baxcalibur glows light orange and then reaches both of its claws forwards, trapping Gallavoir in its grasp, clamping its arms together in between its claws.
"No way...!"
"Call it Quaquaval's vengeance. Icicle Spear, go!" Baxcalibur holds Gallavoir up to its mouth and fires close-range Icicle Spears like a gatling gun. While that close, the icicles shatter against Gallavoir's body over and over, depleting its health quickly. Gallavoir is eventually blasted away by the force of the icicles and slides along the frozen floor until it tumbles on the dirt and comes to a gradual stop.
Amber returns Gallavoir to its Pokeball. "You tried your best, I promise you'll get another chance. You're up now, Milotic, come forth from the seas!" Milotic appears on the battlefield.
"Amber's sixth Pokemon is Milotic! As of this point, she has still yet to lose one of her Pokemon, but many of her members have taken some serious damage!"
"Use Freeze-Dry!" Baxcalibur fires Freeze-Dry straight at Milotic.
"Scald, let's go!" In response, Milotic raises its head to the sky and fires a stream of boiling hot water straight up. The water comes back down and creates a curtain around itself, blocking the Freeze-Dry. While water would normally freeze when colliding with an ice move, Scald was one of the few moves that could counteract the freezing effect.
"Baxcalibur, use Glaive Rush!" Baxcalibur leans forwards and the spikes on its back glow purple. The spikes form energy blades as sharp as guillotines before Baxcalibur takes off running at Milotic.
"Keep going with Scald!" Milotic keeps up its curtain of boiling water, but Baxcalibur goes straight into it without a care, fiercely cutting through the water like a torpedo.
"Look at Baxcalibur, fearlessly cleaving that Scald! Thermal Exchange means that it can't be burned by that attack!"
'Then it's a good thing that's not what I'm going for.' Amber thinks. As Baxcalibur collides into Milotic inside the curtain of water, it thrusts the spikes on its back into Milotic's body, sending it hurling out of the water spout. Milotic flips over and lands on the ground with a heavy thud. Its body had a hue of red and small embers emit from its skin.
"What's this? It appears that Milotic has been burned by its own Scald attack, but look, it survived Baxcalibur's attack!"
"Marvel Scale." Renkton mentions.
"Milotic's defensive power is raised when it has a status like Burn or Paralysis." Amber adds. "Use Toxic!" Milotic quickly spews a purple-colored blast of poison at Baxcalibur. The latter puts up its claws as a defense, but it's not able to prevent the attack from going through and poisoning it.
"Baxcalibur has been poisoned, unable to dodge because it just used Glaive Rush!"
Renkton makes the reasonable decision to return Baxcalibur to its Pokeball. When she does, the ice fades from the battlefield. "Let's crank the show's excitement up." She reveals another Pokeball. "And it's your stage now, show them what for, Meowscarda!" When Meowscarada appears, its eyes are closed and it takes a few steps forwards with one leg overlapping the other before it poses with its arms wide and its small flower-like appendage in one hand.
"Meowscarda's next. Okay, Ice Beam!"
"Use Flower Trick!"
Milotic fires its Ice Beam, releasing three streams of icy energy straight at Meowscarada. The latter suddenly disappears and reappears a few feet closer to Milotic, then a flowery sphere of energy falls on top of it, exploding into a bouquet of petals. Milotic groans in pain as it's hit, its eyes aren't able to keep watch of Meowscarda as the latter runs around Milotic, appearing and disappearing like the Dark Type it was. "Use Recover!" Milotic closes its eyes and cloaks its body in a golden energy, restoring the damaged cells that it had.
"Taunt let's go!" Renkton commands. Meowscarada reappears and holds its hand out, moving its fingers and provoking Milotic to approach. Invisible dark energy then travels to Milotic and surrounds it in a dark aura, halting its Recover in its tracks.
Amber grunts under her breath, she quickly returns Milotic to its Pokeball as while Taunted, two of its moves were out of commission. "You're up again Togekiss, let's go!"
"Use Taunt again!" Meowscarada repeats the same move it used before. Togekiss falls for it as well, meaning Thunder Wave was now locked out of the battle.
"Togekiss, let's do this. Use Air Slash." Amber smiles and Togekiss affirms their strategy with a nod. It begins to spin rapidly while cutters of Air Slash start to form around it self. Those cutters turned into ring-like streams of energy that surrounded Togekiss on all sides and quickly expanded outwards.
"Wait a minute... that's." Renkton's eyes widened upon the realization that she's seen that move before. She recalls when she watched the previous World Coronation Series and the current Monarch, Ash Ketchum, used a similar technique. Elsewhere, both Ash and Dawn are observing the technique being used on TV and they can't take their eyes off the usage. Meowscarada is hit over and over again by the spiraling Air Slash streams and can't manage to get close. "Retreat for now Meowscarada!" Meowscarada jumps backwards and backflips multiple times to get some distance from Togekiss.
"Now use Heat Wave!" Amber calls out. Togekiss expels the rings of Air Slash and then flaps its wings to create a widespread Heat Wave.
"Jump and dodge it." Meowscarada makes a huge leap into the air using its feline body.
"Get close and use Air Slash!" Togekiss flies straight at Meowscarada in the air.
"U-Turn." Renkton says. Meowscarada's body glows lime green and it quickly zooms past Togekiss, kicking off its back to get even more height. The attack only dealt mild flinching damage, but Meowscarada instantly returned to its Pokeball and then another Pokemon came out. Perrserking appears directly above Togekiss, exactly where Meowscarada left the battlefield. Amber and Togekiss gasp, but it was too late. "Perrserking, Heavy Slam!" Perrserking roars loudly and cloaks its body with steely armor and lands straight on Togekiss. The two come crashing into the ground. The crushing blow is enough to kick up dust all across the arena. When the dust finally settles, Perrserking is kneeling just above a fainted Togekiss.
"Togekiss is unable to battle! Perrserking is the winner!"
Amber returns Togekiss to its Pokeball, much to her dismay. "Thanks Togekiss, you did really well." She looks up at the scoreboard. Renkton had five Pokemon revealed and she knew in her heart that Renkton's last Pokemon was her Charizard that was capable of Mega Evolving. Her ace hadn't taken any damage yet, while all of Amber's Pokemon aside from Salamescent had sustained some major damage. Even if Renkton had three Pokemon who had sustained status conditions, the long game didn't look good. 'Stay calm. If you lose focus now, you'll lose the battle and you can't lose, not here...' Amber thinks. "Gallavoir, go!"
"Gallavoir makes an encore going up against Perrserking!"
"Full-power Sacred Sword!" Gallavoir dashes full speed with its blades glowing orange.
"Perrserking, use Screech!" Perrserking intercepts the approach with a massive sound wave that engulfs Gallavoir on all sides and almost blows it off its feet.
"Don't give in yet...!" Amber says. Gallavoir sticks the edge of its blade into the ground as a wedge to stay in place. Suddenly Perrserking's attack stops and electric sparks course throughout its body.
"Urgh..." Renkton narrows her eyes. Paralysis had finally set in.
"Go!" Gallavoir rushes in and delivers a powerful Sacred Sword straight to Perrserking's underside, flipping its huge weight into the air with a single blow.
"Heavy Slam now!" Perrserking snaps out of its daze and flips head over heels to then come down on Gallavoir with a Heavy Slam using its height to accelerate down and increase its attack power.
"Use Psychic." Gallavoir's eyes glow blue and a similar blue energy surrounds Perrserking, stopping its descent cold. "Now send it flying!" Gallavoir concentrates intense Psychic energy into its arms and forces it all out at once with one thrust, sending Perrserking hurling into the wall of the stadium. Its impact was like a wrecking ball, only this time it took the fall.
"Perrserking is unable to battle!" One more icon on the big screen faded to gray.
Renkton returns it to its Pokeball. "Thanks Perrserking, you were awesome."
At the same time, Amber recalls Gallavoir. "Salamescent, stand by for battle!"
"Skeledirge, go!" Upon appearing, Skeledirge still was paralyzed from the effects of Magnezone's Zap Cannon, but that wasn't going to stop Renkton.
"Use Jaw Lock!" Salamescent gets to Skeledirge in only one flap of its wings and sinks its fangs into Skeledirge's shoulder. The dark energy from Jaw Lock lays in with massive damage due to being super effective.
"Use Yawn." Renkton softly commands. Despite being in pain, Skeledirge releases a bubble from its nostrils and it pops in Salamescent's face as they were at close-range.
"Salamescent no!" Salamescent recoils backwards and then lands on the ground asleep.
"Use Slack Off." Skeledirge gets sleepy itself, but only for a moment as it relaxes all its muscles and a green aura envelops it, restoring a good portion of its health. All the while Salamescent remained asleep. "Time to heat things up, back to back Torch Song!" Skeledirge fires a Torch Song straight at Salamescent and it explodes right on schedule. Then a second one comes before the smoke from the first one even disappears. Then a third one and yet Salamescent still wouldn't wake up all while Skeledirge was continuing to power up.
Amber returns Salamescent to its Pokeball as the fourth one was charging up and incoming. "Magnezone go!" Magnezone appears just in time for the fourth Torch Song with three stacks of power boosts from the previous three. "Mirror Coat!" Magnezone's body glows translucent and it takes the Torch Song head-on. Its eyes narrow and it's almost blown away after a few seconds, but finally the Torch Song gets deflected back at Skeledirge and causes a devastating explosion. Smoke clouds the stadium and all the spectators are silent as they watch in shock. When everything is visible again, Skeledirge lays on its back with spirals in its eyes and smoke coming out of its mouth.
"Skeledirge is unable to battle, Magnezone gets the win!"
Skeledirge returns to its Pokeball. "Thanks, you were great, just leave this to the rest of us. I can't believe she'd risk that move..." Renkton mutters with a smile. From the looks of it, Magnezone was on its last legs, its body was charred and one more attack would likely deal it in. As that was the case, Amber returns it to its Pokeball. They both stare at each other closely again. Only a few minutes had passed and three Pokemon went down. As the crowd grew more restless, they sat up in their seats with roars of excitement for the next Pokemon.
"Baxcalibur, you're on again!"
"Milotic go!"
Baxcalibur and Milotic appear on the battlefield next. The former was inflicted with poison and the latter with a burn, only one was actually a disadvantage though. "Use Recover!" Amber quickly commands Recover. Milotic's body glows orange and it restores its damaged cells.
"Baxcalibur, Icicle Spear!" A barrage of swift Icicle Spears are fired at Milotic and they all smack into it one after the other. Chilly dust surrounds Milotic, but when they dispel, the latter was still standing firmly. "Now use Glaive Rush!" Baxcalibur kneels forwards and sharpens its spikes once more before dashing at full speed.
"Use Scald and aim for its feet!" Milotic fires Scald at a low angle and it makes contact with Baxcalibur's legs. Slowly and surely as Baxcalibur charged it lost speed and momentum, eventually coming to a stop as it endures the water stream that wasn't doing much damage to it overall, but was slowing its movement down too much for Glaive Rush to make contact. Baxcalibur cringes when it feels the poison slowly take away its health and the damage would only be amplified as time goes on.
"Come on Baxcalibur! Show me that fighting spirit!" Renkton clenches her fist in front of her as Baxcaliur sharpens its eyes. "Grab hold of Milotic!" Baxcalibur suddenly slams its tail on the ground and makes a huge leap. It was incredible that such a huge-looking Pokemon could leap that high and far and it clamps Milotic's tail in its claws before it can escape.
"Uh oh! Milotic is stuck and Baxcalibur is holding on tight!"
"Use Freeze-Dry!" Baxcalibur begins to charge up its move.
Amber quickly responds. "I don't think so! Milotic, constrict Baxcalibur!" Instead of trying to flee, Milotic changes to wrapping its long body around Baxcalibur and suddenly the roles are reversed. "Scald, let's go!" Milotic's head, positioned right behind Baxcalibur uses Scald straight into the latter's skull. As the heat from Scald made contact with Baxcalibur's cold body, steam coats the arena. Baxcalibur hangs tough in that position, but Scald was adding to the damage from poison.
"Check it out, the roles have been reversed! Baxcalibur is now the one that's trapped and it's taking some serious damage from that Scald!"
"This is exactly what I've been waiting for!" Renkton says. Baxcalibur opens its eyes once again. "Freeze-Dry, do it!" Baxcalibur roars loudly and suddenly ice expunges from every part of its body. The steam is blown away as a blue aura of ice engulfs both itself and Milotic. Amber holds her arms up in front of her as the light blinds everyone. When everyone could see what happened, both Milotic and Baxcalibur had been frozen in a gigantic chunk of ice. Amber and the crowd are shocked as both Pokemon were not moving inside the ice and were seemingly out of commission. "Watch this everyone. High Horsepower!" Baxcalibur's eyes open again and it glows orange. The orange aura illuminates through the ice and with a single brutal blast, the ice all shatters with Milotic being repelled off Baxcalibur and goes tumbling to the ground. Its eyes were closed and it struggled to get back up after such a devastating attack. "Now let's try this again, Glaive Rush!"
Baxcalibur angrily narrows its focus on Milotic and prepares to bring down the guillotine. "Recover! Milotic you've got to hang in there!" Amber's words did reach Milotic, but it just couldn't stand up. Baxcalibur delivers a direct hit with as much attitude as possible, the spikes shove into Milotic and send it flying. Milotic skids along the floor before coming to a stop.
"Milotic is unable to battle! Baxcalibur wins!" Despite still being plagued by poison, Baxcalibur roars towards the atmosphere with its pride emitting to everyone in the crowd.
"Baxcalibur gets a bit... pushy when it comes up against opponents that fight like that, sorry." Renkton comments.
"Don't worry about it." Amber returns Milotic to its Pokeball. "Thanks Milotic, you did really well. Leave it to the rest of us."
"With Milotic's defeat, Amber has four Pokemon remaining while Renkton has three! This battle is far from finished!"
"Salamescent, you're on!" Salamescent appears out of its Pokeball, but on the floor as it was still asleep from before. Amber's eyes travel from it to Baxcalibur, who looked like it was struggling to stand because of the poison.
"Hmmf. Icicle Spear!" Baxcalibur fires an entire blizzard's worth of Icicle Spears at Salamescent, who can't do anything, but be pelted by them over and over.
"Come on, wake up! You've got to...!" Amber calls out with a hint of worry. Salamescent's eyes finally open up. "Fire Blast!" Salamescent generates a powerful flame and unleashes it straight into the Icicle Spears, melting each and every one. The collision of flames and ice causes Baxcalibur to recoil backwards. Salamescent ascends into the air and levitates high once more.
"Folks it looks like Salamescent is back with us again! This battle is going to be a showdown between two powerful Dragon Types!"
"Draco Meteor." Salamescent unleashes its meteoric sphere into the night sky. Moments after, meteors come raining down over Baxcalibur from all sides.
"Use High Horsepower and deflect them!" Baxcalibur glows orange and swings its claws and tail like whips to send all the meteors away like mere pebbles. The rest of the meteors crash into the stadium floor. However, when one of the meteors is deflected, it's revealed that Salamescent is right behind the meteor.
"Jaw Lock." Salamescent's fangs grasp onto Baxcalibur's arm and create a small explosion that recoils them both backwards. Salamescent ascends back into the sky, getting distance from Baxcalibur.
"That Draco Meteor was only a distraction! Now Baxcalibur is stuck in battle as its health is looking to be at a critical low!"
"Well I guess we'll have to finish it even faster, Icicle Spear!" Baxcalibur fires a storm of Icicle Spears in a widespread area in order to swat Salamescent out of the sky.
"Fire Blast." Salamescent remains stagnant in the air and incinerates all the Icicle Spears. Neither attack manages to get through, only resetting the neutral state of the battle. Renkton puts her hands on her hips with a disappointed stare. Amber wasn't calling out any more commands and was simply letting poison take Baxcalibur down and there was nothing they could do about it if Salamescent stayed evasive. Still, Renkton knew many battles that ended like this, it was in Amber's nature to take such a boring path to assure her victory. The crowd also got quieter, anticipating some form of revelation to occur in the battle. "Salamescent, let's finish this with one move! Iron Head, go!"
"Use Glaive Rush and strike with all the power you have left!"
"BAAAAXXXXX!" Baxcalibur lets out a huge uproar and aims the spikes on its back straight at Salamescent. Salamescent coats its body in a white aura and flies at full speed towards Baxcalibur while the latter runs along the ground with its feet stomping like thunder to meet that move head on. Their eyes meet and it looks to be a head-on collision between the two. As they get closer the crowd is on the edge of their seats. At the last second before Salamescent makes contact, it narrowly avoids the hit and ascends upwards, then it makes a quick turn and continues its attack. Baxcalibur is able to turn around barely as Salamescent makes an impact with it. The initial hit isn't enough to break through as Baxcalibur catches the Iron Head with both claws, smashing its tail into the ground as a foothold to stay upright. Baxcalibur grunts and pushes with all its might to stay upright, but Salamescent pushes with just as much force. The two remain in their struggle for a few seconds and finally the aura from Iron Head disappears. Salamescent backs away slowly and makes a soft landing on the ground. The two stare at each other for a few seconds and Baxcalibur softly lets out one more breath of cold air before falling forwards and going down.
"Baxcalibur is unable to battle!" The drone states. The big screen's score went from 4-3 to 4-2.
"Baxcalibur has been defeated! After managing to stop that powerful Iron Head, Baxcalibur gives into its fatigue! What a noble and prideful way to go down!" The announcer perfectly described how Renkton felt about Baxcalibur's performance.
She returns it to its Pokeball. "Thanks Baxcalibur, you showed them your strength, now take a good long rest."
Amber also returns Salamescent to its Pokeball. "Magnezone, I need you again!" She exchanges it for Magnezone.
"Meowscarada, you're on!" Meowscarada makes a second appearance. It bows towards the audience upon coming out of its Pokeball.
'Still no Charizard... She's dedicated to saving it for last...' Amber thinks. "Use Flash Cannon." Magnezone is engulfed with a white aura and it fires a concentrated blast of steely energy.
"Dodge it." Meowscarada jumps and twists its body as it leaps over the attack with its eyes closing part-way through and landing on the other side without fault and with as much elegance as a performer.
"Now keep using Flash Cannon."
"And you keep dodging it!"
Multiple Flash Cannons lit up the battlefield, but Meowscarada kept barely dodging each of them, not worried in the slightest where it could be hit, all while keeping a smirk on its face. Amber's eyes kept focusing on Meowscarada, how it was moving and what patterns arose whilst it moved. She suddenly calls out, "Lock-On!" Magnezone emits the red ring from the spot on its face and a target appears on Meowscarada's forehead. Amber raises a brow. 'Hmm? Why didn't it use Taunt?' Renkton and Meowscarada are completely silent. "Zap Cannon!" Magnezone fires Zap Cannon right away.
"Night Slash go!" Meowscarada charges forwards straight for the Zap Cannon, not changing its path in the slightest. Its paws glow purple and three claws the length of short blades extend out of each paw. It then brings both claws forwards and slashes the Zap Cannon into pieces with an x-shaped strike, shattering it into sparks and sparkles. Then it zooms past Magnezone and delivers a horizontal swipe before coming to a stop behind it. Magnezone is completely still for a moment before falling to the ground.
"Magnezone is unable to battle! Meowscarada wins!" Meowscarada retracts its claws and takes a bow before backflipping all the way back to Renkton's side of the field in a single leap.
Renkton smugly looks at Amber with her hands on her hips. "What can I say? Meowscarada is a bit of a show-off, so that took longer than it really needed to."
"Urgh..." Amber returns Magnezone to its Pokeball. "Thanks Magnezone, you played your part."
"Renkton reduces Amber's Pokemon count to three while she has two Pokemon remaining. Who is up next?!"
"Gallavoir, you're up again!" Gallavoir appears and brandishes its blades right away. Meowscarada stands with its arms and feet wide, ready to move at a moment's notice.
"So you want a speed battle? Fine, let's give 'em a real show, Meowscarada." Renkton says and Meowscarada voices agreement.
"Gallavoir." Gallavoir turns its head towards Amber, the two nod in unison without any further words. The two Pokemon stare each other down for a few seconds as do the two trainers. "Spirit Break!"
"Night Slash!"
Gallavoir's blades glow pink while Meowscarada sharpens its claws once more. The two then charge at each other at the same time, meeting at the very center of the battlefield. Gallavoir delivers a vertical cleave while Meowscarada counters with a low swipe, only wanting to get a taste of the interaction before it backs away. With incredible speed, the two zip across the stadium like blurs. Evidently, Meowscarada was playing a much more evasive game than Gallavoir due to the type advantage. However, the feline's nimble and fleet movements made it really difficult to land a direct hit. Gallavoir kept swinging its blades only to narrowly miss every single time without a single fault on Meowscarada's part. On the other hand, Night Slash wasn't doing much damage to Gallavoir, so they were basically only dragging out the battle.
"Flower Trick!" Meowscarada suddenly disappears when Gallavoir attempts to swing at it and then reappears to the right, snapping its fingers and the flowery gift falls and explodes on top of Gallavoir. Gallavoir is enveloped by the explosion, but even despite that, it remains standing after the attack.
"Meowscarada lands a devastating Flower Trick! Gallavoir seems to be hanging in there despite that!"
Amber nods meekly after Meowscarada finishes its attack. "Okay Gallavoir, it's time to finish this." Gallavoir raises its head and blades. Meowscarada holds up its paw and gestures for Gallavoir to come towards it. "Spirit Break, once more!" Gallavoir's blades glow pink and it charges at Meowscarada.
"Night Slash!" Once more, the two began to exchange blows, but Meowscarada still had the upper hand with its unpredictable movements, not giving Gallavoir any chance to strike it.
"Meowscarada is one agile Pokemon! You know what they say, float like a Butterfree sting like a Beedrill!"
"I wouldn't be so sure of that...!" Amber swings her arm and right after, Gallavoir imitates its trainer, understanding exactly Amber had in mind and what Amber understood about Meowscarada's movement from watching it for awhile. Gallavoir sweeps its twin-bladed staff low and then flips the edge of its blade upwards the moment Meowscarada lands, catching its landing just barely and flipping Meowscarada on its head. However, the latter presses its hands on the floor and backflips back into a standing position.
"They don't say cats always land on their feet for nothing, what incredible awareness!" Meowscarada smirks at the same time as Renkton.
"Now... consecutive Night Slashes!" With Gallavoir tired from the previous hit, Meowscarada suddenly lays in with multiple Night Slashes from all directions. This time it wasn't focusing anything on defense and delivering full-blown attacks while retreating fast enough to avoid a counterattack and then instantly moving in for the next attack again.
"Endure for as long as you can..." Amber murmurs. Gallavoir keeps its eyes open and sharp as it's hit over and over.
"Let's wrap it up with Flower Trick!" Meowscarada dashes forwards and vanishes.
Both Amber and Gallavoir had their eyes peeled with the same idea in mind. "Sacred Sword, do it!" Gallavoir suddenly swings its two blades forwards. Meowscarada appears and is nailed by a Sacred Sword to the face by the first blade and then a second slash to the torso. Both attacks leave harsh marks on Meowscarada's body all in the blink of an eye. Gallavoir appears behind Meowscarada and dispels the energy around its blades, letting Meowscarada fall to the ground behind it. Renkton is stoic when she sees Meowscarada fall, just letting out a mild hum.
"Meowscarada is unable to battle! Gallavoir was able to tell exactly where Meowscarada was going to appear! That's something only a trainer with a true bond with their Pokemon is capable of performing! Now Renkton is down to her last Pokemon!"
Amber returns Gallavoir to its Pokeball right away. "Kangaskhan, you're up!" Mega Kangaskhan had been sitting out of the battle for a good amount of time, so it had regained a bit of strength since then. Even then, the damage from Quaquaval's battle was showing. "You know what to do." Kangaskhan nods simply.
Renkton returns Meowscarada to its Pokeball. The screen showed she was down to only one Pokemon remaining. "Thanks Meowscarada, everyone loved your performance." She takes out her last Pokeball. "Well, no need to keep the suspense up. I'm sure we both know what this is coming down to."
"Yeah... you still have Charizard left and my Pokemon aren't in the best condition." Amber says.
"Exactly. Not only that, your Pokemon that can counter my Charizard are down for the count alongside all your ways to slow Charizard down with things like paralysis or poison."
"Just keep battling..."
"If you insist...! Charizard, show them what for!" Renkton throws the Pokeball with all her strength. Appearing high in the air was her Charizard that had a Charizardite Y on its neck. Charizard lets out a battle cry roar loud enough for the whole crowd to hear it and it eventually lands in front of Renkton. All around the region, many others were watching, Vabelle, the Elite Four members of Salvor, various Gym Leaders and others like Raye and CJ had their eyes hooked on the screen. "Charizard, this is where we claim victory." She reaches into her pocket and takes out a Key Stone attached to a necklace. Tapping the stone, it reacts with the Charizardite creating energy streams from both stones that react. Charizard's body is engulfed in a multicolored aura of energy that changes its form. When the energy bursts, Mega Charizard Y is revealed. Charizard's power erupts upwards towards the darkened sky and in an instant, light emitted through the clouds, illuminating the battlefield with a light layer of sunlight despite it being nighttime.
"There's Mega Charizard's ability, Drought! It summons harsh sunlight upon its entry in battle, meaning its Fire Type moves are going to be extra powerful!"
As Renkton smiles, Amber is silent, but still calm. "Fire Blast go!" Renkton commands. Mega Charizard flies upwards and ignites its mouth in flames.
"Sucker Punch go!" Both Kangaskhan disappear and then both appear in front of Charizard to deliver a dual Sucker Punch, knocking Charizard backwards. "Now use Strength!" The mother Kangaskhan has the little Kangaskhan jump on its arm and then it catapults the little one with its immaculate Strength. The baby goes flying like a cannonball and gets above Charizard, landing on its back. Charizard glances behind itself as it had gotten into its blind spot. "Multiple Power-Up Punches!" The baby cloaks both of its fists with Power-Up Punch and thrusts into the back of Charizard's collarbone over and over while they're both still in mid-air. With each usage, Kangaskhan was getting more boosts.
"Get it off your back, quick!" Charizard flies and moves erratically, but the little Kangaskhan just wouldn't come off as its claws were slightly sunk into Charizard's skin. "Okay, Fire Blast!" Charizard unleashes its flames in front of itself and those flames spread into a cross shape. "Go!" Charizard flies straight through its own Fire Blast, engulfing its body in its own flames, including the little Kangaskhan. Without any way to escape those flames, the little Kangaskhan jumps off and lands in the mother's arms, who sets it on the ground and they both stare up at Charizard. Charizard repels the flames off its body with a single flap of its wings and fiercely stares down. "So you do still have some fight in you." Renkton narrows her eyes with a smirk. "Charizard, let's give them everything we've got and then some!" Charizard nods slightly before immediately diving down at Kangaskhan, descending like a meteor. "Air Slash!"
"Dodge it!" Both Kangaskhan move in opposite directions as Air Slash blasts pelt the stadium floor. "Okay, use Drain Punch!" The mother and baby jump from different places to attack Charizard from the front and side at the same time with their fists glowing green.
"Ascend and dodge it!" Charizard rises slightly to avoid both attacks.
"Jump after it." The little Kangaskhan's trajectory puts it slightly above the mother Kangaskhan and it jumps off the mother's head to rise up at the same time as Charizard. With a thrashing blow from below, the little Kangaskhan nails a Drain Punch to Charizard's stomach. It's flung backwards into the sky, but manages to spin out and regain focus quickly.
"Fire Blast go!" Charizard unleashes another Fire Blast, this one heads straight for the little Kangaskhan that's free-falling after its attack. The little one is seared by the flames and then they come down on the mother, who lands right after, scoring a direct hit on them both.
"It's not over yet!" Amber declares. Kangaskhan and the child wave their arms outwards and throw off the flames as if they were nothing more than a blanket.
"That's fine with us!" Renkton says just as loudly with Charizard zooming in once more. "Fire Blast, once more!"
"Use Sucker Punch!" The Kangaskhan repeat what happened before and lodge their Sucker Punches into Charizard's face and stomach.
This time, Charizard barely flinched from the attack and was only pushed backwards a little. It unleashes its Fire Blast, but this one traveled a bit slower than the one before. "Destroy your Fire Blast with Solar Beam!" Because harsh sunlight was already set up, Solar Beam took a miniscule amount of time to fire. Charizard unleashes it straight into the center of its cross-shaped fire blast and the entire thing goes up in an explosion, creating a smokescreen that blinds everyone and everything. Amber holds up her arms to shield her eyes from the smoke. "Now use Will-O-Wisp!" Charizard creates several purple wisps around itself and fires them into the smokescreen in multiple directions, covering a huge amount of space.
As the smoke dilutes into the sky, Kangaskhan is revealed to have been burned by that attack. "Heh." Renkton smirks much more deviously than before. With Kangaskhan burned, its attack power was cut, canceling out the attack boosts from Power-Up Punch earlier.
"Kangaskhan! Throw using Strength!"
"Not this time, intercept the baby as it gets close with Air Slash!" Charizard's wings glow white and it awaits what Renkton expected.
"Go!" The little Kangaskhan uses Strength and suddenly lifts the mother Kangaskhan on its own. With incredible force, the mother is the one that goes flying into the air straight at Charizard. Charizard still uses Air Slash to intercept the attack, but Kangaskhan's Strength deflects each of them before the mother Kangaskhan tackles Charizard. Kangaskhan gives Charizard a firm hug, clamping its arms and the two fall towards the ground head-first at an increasingly fast rate.
"Spread your wings!" Charizard spreads its wings and slows the rate they're falling at. It manages to straighten out despite falling and get its head in the right position. "Now Fire Blast, full strength!" While they're still falling, Charizard ignites Kangaskhan with Fire Blast at point-blank range. The fire coats them both and they turn into a meteor of fire as they head for the ground. The ensuing impact was nothing short of truly devastating as a huge crater is left, an explosion of flames erupts and the entire stadium shakes in chaos. The spectators even have to duck and take shelter. From inside the smoke, a light dispels from Mega Kangaskhan's body. When the dust scatters, Charizard is still standing and Kangaskkhan has de-Mega Evolved. The little one crawls back into the mother's pouch.
"Kangaskhan is unable to battle! Charizard is the winner."
"Mega Charizard has put an end to Mega Kangaskhan's day! The score is now two to one!"
Amber holds out her Pokeball, returning Kangaskhan. "Thanks Kangaskhan, you gave it all you've got. We haven't lost yet."
'Charizard took a bit more damage than I would have liked...' Renkton thinks. "Hmmf... That's why I don't underestimate you, you might be the Champion, but you're my rival first and foremost."
"You got that right. Salamescent go!" Salamescent appears in the air for the third time. Charizard flies up to meet it at the same altitude. They both roar at each other ferociously, like primal predators about to fight for the last scrap of food. "Alright Salamescent, ascend!"
"After it, Charizard!" Salamescent flies quickly while Charizard is on its tail with equal amounts of speed. The two go back and forth high above the stadium. The spotlights that surround the stadium all project onto the two, illuminating their battle. Salamescent does a barrel roll and twists the air around itself, Charizard is slightly thrown off course and slows itself to regain balance. "Air Slash go!"
"Use Draco Meteor!" Salamescent quickly halts its movement and turns around right away to fire the sphere of orange energy straight up. The meteors ascend and descend to create a rainstorm of attacks that surround Salamescent from all sides.
"Dodge it." Charizard flies through the storm fearlessly and accurately, dodging each of the meteors that narrowly avoid searing its skin. Once it gets close enough, it flaps its wings at a super fast rate to unleash a barrage of Air Slashes.
"And you dodge that." Salamescent takes off and narrowly avoids each of the Air Slash as narrowly as Charizard avoided each of its attacks. As both Pokemon attack and evade the other's attacks at the same time, both end up being struck at the same time. As two explosions occur in the air, both Salamescent and Charizard manage to fly out of the destruction without crashing and burning.
"Use Fire Blast!" Both Amber and Renkton call the same move at once. As such their Pokemon unleash Fire Blast at the same time too and the two flames clash in the center and explode violently, pushing both Pokemon back in a blistering shockwave. Still neither are thrown out of the air just yet and they both ascend out of the smoke.
'She's waiting for Charizard to exhaust itself. Great...' Renkton thinks. Amber was silent so long as Renkton didn't call out an attack. This kind of strategy was common for high-level trainers, to react to what their opponents would do and call out the proper countermeasure. Amber on one hand, was great at beating that strategy because her opponents gave her free time to set up her lockdown tactics, but now that they were down so many Pokemon, this was what she was resorting to. "Use Will-O-Wisp!" Charizard fires its Will-O-Wisp, chasing Salamescent from behind.
"Dodge it and use Iron Head!" Salamescent does a quick loop and while upside-down, it coats itself using Iron Head and charges.
"Charizard... Catch that move!" Charizard holds out its hands and grips its claws onto Salamescent's horns when it gets close. The force behind Iron Head pushes Charizard to the edge of the stadium and crashes straight into the wall of the ceiling. Charizard pressed its wings against the wall while Salamescent's attack ended, but Charizard wasn't letting go of their close-range position. "Use Will-O-Wisp!" Charizard ignites the wisps all around itself and catches Salamescent using them.
"Draco Meteor!" Amber shouts out from below. Salamescent generates the draconic energy inside itself and prepares to unleash it at point-blank range, pushing through the burn damage. The Draco Meteor sphere is pushed to its mouth and only inches away from Charizard's body.
"Get away, now!" Charizard is too late to respond as Salamescent blows itself and Charizard up with a close-range Draco Meteor. Thanks to all of its energy unleashed before the meteor is able to explode in the air, the move was even more powerful than just one Draco Meteor. The attack is enough to make a massive hole in the wall as Charizard and Salamescent descend slowly. The damage Charizard took was massive and the injuries all over its body were all the evidence needed, however, since Salamescent was burned, it was gradually losing its remaining health. "Fire Blast!" Renkton quickly says with a hint of desperation in her voice.
"Fire Blast too!" Amber responds.
Both of them unleash Fire Blast at the same time once again. The flames intersect in the middle and push hard against one another. "Alright Charizard, let's show them your power! GO!" Charizard lets out its full power, pushing as hard as it could against Salamescent's Fire Blast with its own. Slowly the flames started to push in the opposite direction and finally, Fire Blast nails Salamescent. Coated with embers, Salamescent falls to its side.
"Salamescent is unable to battle, Charizard is the winner!" The drone states.
"Salamescent put up a grand battle, but Charizard just manages to edge it out!" The announcer yells.
Amber returns Salamescent to its Pokeball. "Thanks Salamescent, it's not over just yet, so leave it all to us. I promise all your work won't go to waste." She takes out her last Pokeball. "It's down to you Gallavoir, I choose you!" Gallavoir takes Salamescent's place.
"It's down to each trainer's last Pokemon who have both taken a lot of damage from previous battles! This battle is still anyone's game!"
"Yeah well, you only have one Pokemon remaining, and it's one with a bad matchup. This is as good as over." Renkton mentions. "Charizard, let's wrap this up quickly." Charizard scoffs some ash in agreement.
Gallavoir holds its blades up in a defensive stance. 'We'll see about that.' Amber thinks.
"Air Slash!" Charizard quickly ascends and fires Air Slash from a safe distance away from Gallavoir's blades. Each of them pierce the ground as Gallavoir dodges in between the attacks.
"Spirit Break!" Gallavoir deflects the Air Slash, spinning its twin-bladed staff like a baton to create a rotating defense.
"Use Will-O-Wisp!" Charizard releases several wisps from itself that all crowd around and attack Gallavoir from multiple directions at once.
"Psychic, go!" Gallavoir's eyes glow blue and it freezes all the wisps at the same time. Then all the wisps turn tail and go after Charizard one by one, but since Will-O-Wisp can't affect Fire Types, Charizard simply remains in place and isn't fazed by the attacks. Both Pokemon pant heavily, pausing for a moment to catch their breath for only as long as necessary as the next attack is called out. "Gallavoir... Stone Edge!" Gallavoir smashes its hand against the ground and pillars of blue pointed stone erupt one by one as they approach Charizard.
"And dodge it!" Charizard narrowly ascends upwards to avoid the attack that would have finished it for sure. "So you kept a move hidden until now? Looks like you predicted I was going to use Charizard last after all!" Renkton remarks.
"Urgh..." Amber grimaces.
"It won't work! Air Slash!" Once more, a barrage of Air Slashes come in from above.
"Use Psychic on the rocks!" Gallavoir's Psychic power extends to the battlefield and rips the rocks from the stone edge apart, turning them into flying debris and they circle around Gallavoir in a ring. Each of them block the Air Slash attacks cold, putting up a terrifying defense.
"What is this?! Gallavoir has created a ring of defense like a planet floating in deep space!"
"Well... that's a new one...!" Renkton murmurs. Charizard remains at a distance, observing the ring of Stone Edge from high above.
"Here we go!" Amber soars her hand up, pointing at Charizard. Gallavoir sends the stone fragments at Charizard with Psychic.
"Use Solar Beam and intercept, quick!" Charizard immediately charges and fires Solar Beam into the stone fragments. It turns its head ever so slightly to turn them into dust before they can make contact with it, returning them both into the same position they were in before. Charizard makes sure to not get any closer now that they knew the risk of being hit with Stone Edge. Both Pokemon once again pause to take a breath. "Charizard, Fire Blast!" Charizard concentrates as much flames as it could from deep inside its belly and unleashes them out all at once in a gigantic Fire Blast.
"Use Psychic!" Gallavoir holds both arms out and its eyes glow once more. The Fire Blast stops in its tracks only a few feet away from scorching Gallavoir, but it wasn't able to redirect the attack completely as Charizard keeps unleashing its flames just like it did in the clash against Salamescent.
"You think that kind of flimsy defense is going to defeat us?! DO IT!" Renkton lets out a battle cry as if she was transferring her energy and spirit to Charizard. Charizard increases the force of its attack even further and slowly inches it towards Gallavoir. It gets closer by a tiny bit every second until finally it makes contact and consumes its target in a violent explosion. Amber's eyes widened and all sound seemed to be tuned out at that moment. Once the flames vanished, Gallavoir was on one knee, narrowly able to keep itself upright. Its groans of pain were audible and it leaned against its staff just to keep itself in the battle. Charizard descends slowly and stops right in front of Renkton.
"Gallavoir is still hanging on by a thread, is this the end...?!"
'The end.' Renkton thinks. "Charizard, let's finish it with one more move, Solar Beam, go!" Charizard's wings glow green as it charges Solar Beam, but right at that moment the clouds close and the sunlight fades. It took awhile, but Drought had finally worn off and Solar Beam needed some time to charge.
"Come on Gallavoir, you've got to dodge it!" Amber cried out. Gallavoir groaned as it even tried to stand up, falling back onto one knee. "Come on... Not here, not after all we've done to get this far." Solar Beam was getting closer to full charge. "I BELIEVE IN YOU!" Solar Beam gets fired from Charizard's mouth. At the last second, Gallavoir jumps high and out of the way.
"Gallavoir isn't down just yet!"
"That's fine with me! Fire Blast!" Renkton punches her fist forwards as Charizard blasts flames once again.
"Use Spirit Break!" Gallavoir extends its blades longer with the usage of Spirit Break and then it dives straight into the Fire Blast with its arms crossed in an x, cutting through the flames like a butter knife.
"No way!" Renkton and Charizard gasp.
Gallavoir lays in with Spirit Break, delivering a cross-shaped slash straight on Charizard's torso and knocking it out of the sky. Charizard goes tumbling down and lands on its feet, but its head was dazed. "Let's wrap this up with Stone Edge!" Amber punches her fist forwards. Gallavoir focuses the last of its energy to conjure six pillars of stone around itself and then sends them all at Charizard with one big burst of Psychic. Before it can realize, Charizard is buried by several giant Stone Edge pillars.
The stadium was silent as all eyes were on the big pile of rubble Charizard was stuck underneath. Gallavoir kept its eyes open despite everything telling its legs to give in. Amber gulps softly as Renkton tenses up. The announcer, the drone and the audience keep looking in shock. The rubble suddenly bursts apart with Charizard having used its wings to toss the rocks off. It roars as loud as it can at full volume, but the roar slowly fades and gradually gets quieter until it finally comes to a stop. Despite every part of its spirit wanting to stay upright, Charizard falls backwards and ultimately collapses onto its back. The light releases from Charizard's body, de-Mega Evolving itself.
"Charizard is unable to battle! Gallavoir wins! Thus the victor is Amber the Champion!" The big screen shows the victor and Amber's team of six.
"THAT'S IT IT'S OVER!" The announcer yelled while the crowd erupts in cheers and applause.
Amber finally lets her shoulders and head fall with a deep breather that she really needed after such a long and arduous battle. She walks over to Gallavoir and lets it fall onto her shoulder. "Thank you, Gallavoir, you won it for all of us." Gallavoir weakly nods with a smile.
Renkton walks over to Amber with Charizard slowly picking itself up to walk behind her. "You won, well done." Renkton holds out her hand and Amber accepts the handshake.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this victory means our Salvor Champion, Amber has secured a spot in the Masters 16! She will go on to take on the Champions of other regions including the reigning Monarch of the Pokemon Battling World!" As the announcer speaks, the big screen shows the other trainers who had made it to the Masters 16. At the current No. 1 seed it was Ash Ketchum the Alola Champion, No. 2 seed, Leon the Galar Champion, No. 3, Cynthia the Sinnoh Champion and so forth. Amber now occupied the 7th seed in the competition.
Amber and Renkton walk off the battlefield together. The two made it to the tunnel and were finally out of the spotlight. As they kept walking, Amber began to speak, "That final attack... You let me win, didn't you?"
Renkton turns her head slightly towards Amber. "Hmm?"
"You called for Solar Beam when you could have used Fire Blast or Air Slash." Amber states.
Renkton only closes her eyes and smiles. "Are you sure I didn't just call the wrong move in the heat of the moment? Don't kid yourself, you beat me fair and square. In the end, you came prepared with that Stone Edge combination, so you deserved it more than I do."
"Renkton..." Amber softly begins to say.
"You won because of you and your Pokemon, not luck or pity. You're the Champion now, you should believe in yourself and your capabilities. After all, if you won't, how can you expect the region to?" Renkton puts her hand into Amber's palm as she looks away with a sigh. "The Masters 16 is coming up, but before you prepare, you need to unwind and have some fun. And I'm taking you out tonight whether you like it or not, okay?"
"Yeah... Alright." Amber mellows out and the two keep walking. She puts a smile on her face and looks forwards with a bit more confidence, not a ton, but more nevertheless.
