"Felix just sent a message that said the Cullens were spotted about two miles away."Jane said. Looking to Bella Jane noticed that while she didn't appear affected by the news her eyes were angry. She just hoped that no matter what happened that Bella wouldn't kill anyone. Not only would the royals be upset Jane knew that Bella would be as well. It wasn't that Bella cared if they lived it was that she would get more satisfaction fighting them in the arena.
"What are you going to do?"Tanya asked.
"The guards that came with us are in position around your property. Myself and the Assassin will wait in here while you greet them. Once they are out of their cars we will confront them.I promise that we will protect you and your coven if it comes to a fight."Jane assured her.
"I wouldn't mind getting into a fight with the Cullens."Kate would love the chance to beat on the Cullens. She would especially like going after Jasper. He was arrogant and deserved to be taken down a peg or two.
"We will not be fighting. As soon as the guards appear we will be retreating back to the house. If you wish to watch you will stay on the porch. If they attack you can defend yourself but you are not allowed to be the aggressor."The last thing Tanya needed was for Kate to be hurt because the guards mistook her for a Cullen.
"Come on how many opportunities will I get like this?"Kate asked.
"It's not happening."Tanya wasn't going to budge.
Jane looked to Bella when she took her hand. Listening to Bella's thoughts she spoke."I don't want to overrule your orders as it is your coven but if Kate wishes for a chance at the Cullens then she is more than welcome to join in on the initial punishment they will receive before the tournament."
"Yes!"Kate cheered.
"Thank you for the offer.I'm sure Kate would enjoy that."Tanya wasn't that comfortable letting Kate be involved but she couldn't refuse the offer without insulting Jane.
"This is so awesome."Kate was going to make Tanya leave as soon as possible to go to the castle. She wasn't going to miss out on not only seeing the Assassin's private arcade but dealing with the Cullens as well. Maybe if she was lucky she could see if the Assassin would train with her.
"That being said it sounds like they are here."Jane had heard the two cars pulling up to the house.
"Remember we are welcoming them as friends. Don't be hostile."Tanya whispered just loud enough for the Cullens not hear them.
Kate rubbed her hands together in excitement."Don't worry we know what to do."
"Let's go."Tanya led the way out of the house with the rest of her coven behind her. They were standing in a relaxed formation that gave the illusion of being non aggressive but it would still allow themselves to defend each other. Tanya trusted that Jane and the guard would protect them but she would never leave her family's safety to anyone.
"Hello Tanya."Carlisle greeted once he was out of the car. The rest of his children joined him and just like they prepared stood as a united front. He had Jasper wear short sleeves to show off his scars so if the nomads were watching they would know that they were dangerous.
"Hello Carlisle welcome to our home."Tanya replied.
"Why can't I read any of your minds?"Edward focusing on his family realized something else."Why can't I read my family's minds either?"
Kate smiled brightly. She now understood how the Assassin was going to defend themselves against the Cullen's gifts. The deadly vampire was a shield.A very powerful one if they could block not only Edward's gift but Alice's as well."We don't know what you are talking about."
"Yes, you do."Edward was positive the Denali were purposely blocking his gift.
"I'm afraid we don't."Tanya had come to the same conclusion as Kate. The Silver Assassin was a shield. It made Tanya wonder if it was just a mental shield or a physical one as well.
"Have you had anymore run ins with the nomads?"Carlisle tried to mask his excitement because if all their minds were blocked and Alice couldn't see anyone's future that meant the vampire they were after was extremely powerful. They would make the Cullens a force to be reckoned with and with them Carlisle could push forward with his plans to take out the Volturi.
"As a matter of fact they have."Jane said as she and Bella rushed out of the house and stood before the Cullens.
Carlisle looked to Tanya."What is this?"
"I'm sorry Carlisle but I can't stand by while you repeatedly break the law."Tanya wasn't really that sorry. Not them was the right thing to do and even though she initially wasn't happy about having the Silver Assassin and Jane in her home it had given Kate the opportunity to bond with the dangerous vampire. An obvious friendship had been formed between the two and Tanya was more than happy with the way the situation had turned out.
Rosalie felt relieved that Tanya had come through for her. Taking a chance to look over the Assassin Rosalie froze when their eyes met."What the hell?"
"What's wrong?"Jane asked when she felt Bella stiffen next to for her. Taking Bella's hand Jane snarled in rage at what Bella revealed."You dare force a vampire away from their mate?!"
"I have done no such thing!"Carlisle said defensively.
"You ordered Rosalie to stay away from Bella after she told you they were mates. Then you let Edward claim her and the rest of you brainwashed the poor human into believing she was mated to Edward."Emmett didn't care that he was going against his sire. Now that the Volturi were involved he had nothing to lose.
"How dare you claim that Bella wasn't my mate!"Edward made a move towards Emmett but before he made it two steps the Silver Assassin had him on the ground with a hand around his throat."Unhand me!"
"I wouldn't speak to them that way."Jane warned.
"Let go of my son!"Carlisle screeched. When he tried to attack the Assassin he was overwhelmed with pain.
"No, you can't do that!"Esme screamed as she went to Carlisle to try and help him.
"He has done nothing wrong."Alice said.
"Nothing wrong."Jane laughed.
"Yes, nothing wrong."Jasper knew this was just another example of the Volturi's abuse of power.
Jane released Carlisle from her gift. She would have a chance at him again. Walking up to Bella she put her hand on her shoulder and pulled her off of Edward."You will regret it if you end him right now."
"I would regret it to."Kate called out.
"Kate."Tanya hissed.
Kate shrugged."What?I don't want to miss my chance."
"Stay out of it."Tanya told her.
"Yes, mother."Kate grumbled.
"Now that it is obvious that your so called family is going to Italy let's get going."Jane wanted this done with as soon as possible. She was on edge and with the reveal of Rosalie being her mate Bella would need some privacy to deal with her emotions. Jane didn't care that Bella had a second she cared about was how a second mate would effect Bella's mental health.
"We are not going to Italy."Edward wasn't going to let that happen.
"You have no say in this boy."Jane told him.
Carlisle stood with the help of Esme."No, you have no say."
"I am very curious to see how you are going to stop us from taking you."Jane was more than happy to use force if she had to and hoped that Carlisle was stupid enough to give the order. She was not disappointed.
"Get them."Carlisle went straight for Jane knowing that she was more dangerous of the pair. The Silver Assassin was nothing without Jane and Carlisle knew that the rest of his children could take the weak vampire out.
"Shit."Kate said as she watched in awe as Jane stepped back from the fight and let the Silver Assassin take care of the Cullens by herself. The purple robed vampire had no mercy as they removed Carlisle's legs and moved to attack Jasper. Kate wasn't sure how but when Alice went to help her mate her body froze in mid air making it so the seer couldn't move.
"Shit indeed."Irina agreed as the Assassin moved with deadly intent and took off Japer's limbs tossing them in random directions. Esme ignored the Assassin and tried to put Carlisle back together but before she could succeed she too was limb less.
"I'm going to kill you!"Edward roared as he held his arms out to tackle the silver masked vampire. He cried out in pain as the Assassin ripped off his legs. Falling to the ground he tried the fight but his attempts were useless against the enraged vampire.
Jane let Bella have her fun but when she went to remove Edward's head she knew she needed to step in to stop Bella from killing him."That's enough Assassin."
"I think they should finish him off."Emmett mumbled from his spot near the Denali. When Carlisle gave the order he,Becky and Rosalie retreated to the house to get out of the way. Carlisle must have figured that their loyalty alone would cause them to fight on his side because he didn't use the sire command to force them.
"Oh don't worry they aren't done with him yet."Kate told him.
"Are you ok?"Becky asked Rosalie as she noticed her sister was looking quite shell shocked.
Rosalie wasn't sure if she was ever going to be ok again. Ever since locking eyes with the Assassin and hearing Jane's statement to Carlisle about keeping mates apart she had a feeling she knew the Assassin's identity. If she was right that meant that not only was Bella alive but she was the most deadly vampire in existence. She wondered what had happened to turn the sweet shy human she had known into a killing machine."The Sliver Assassin is my mate."
"Wait, what?"Becky wasn't sure she heard Rosalie right.
"The Sliver Assassin is my mate."Rosalie repeated loud enough for the others to hear.
"Holy fuck!"Kate couldn't believe it. Out all the people to be mated to the Assassin she would never have paired them with Rosalie.
"Are you sure?"Emmett asked.
Rosalie nodded."More than sure."
"What are you going to do?"Tanya asked.
"I don't know."Rosalie really didn't know. As she watched the Assassin, Jane and some guard members reattach the rest of her covens limbs she was at a loss. She didn't even know if the Assassin felt the mate bond as they had given no outward sign that they had.
"It looks like they are done."Irina said as the guards moved to restrain the five prisoners.
Jane walked up to the group of Denali and the three traitors."I know of Rosalie's involvement in this but I don't know the two of yours. Honestly I don't care, you didn't try to attack us so you will be treated well. When we get to the castle the kings will decide what they want to do with you."
"What about me?"Rosalie asked.
"From this moment forward I want you to stay close to either myself or the Assassin. That way everyone you encounter knows you are protected."Jane knew that if left alone Rosalie would be clumped together with the Cullens and would probably be attacked.
"Of course."Rosalie hoped by being close to the Assassin she would finally find out if her suspicions were right and the vampire really was Bella.
"Tanya thank you for not only your loyalty to the kings but your hospitality. Even though the reason that brought us here was serious we had a good time."Jane knew Bella did at least and that was good enough for Jane.
"You're welcome."Tanya wasn't expecting the visit to turn out how it did but she was extremely happy with the results.
"Kate the Assassin looks forward to your visit to the castle. When you get there they may be busy but I promise they will make time for you as soon as they are able."Jane predicated that Kate's visit would be just the thing Bella needed to distract her from all the stress this entire situation gave her. Dealing with Cullens was traumatic enough but being mated to one was going to likely cause Bella distress. Luckily she wouldn't have to deal with it by herself. She had Jane and the royals to help her get through it.
"I can't wait."Kate said.
"With that we will take our leave."Jane told them.
Watching them walk away Tanya sighed."Thank god that's over."
"It's not over. After everything I would think that because of our covens interaction with the Assassin our time spent with them is just beginning."Irina mused.
"Probably."Tanya may have been happy with the friendship Kate formed with the Assassin but it made her nervous. Kate wasn't known for being the most polite and could easily offend the wrong person. With the fact that the Assassin hung around some very important people in the vampire world including the royals that could cause future problems if Kate said or did something wrong. At least it seemed that the Assassin liked Kate's carefree spirit and although the vampire never laughed or spoke it was obvious they enjoyed spending time with Kate. Tanya would just have to have a talk with Kate before they left about how to act appropriately around the Volturi. Maybe she would include Eleazar as had lived with them long enough to know what Kate should do.
