Sewers of Paris, afternoon
"Thank you all for coming. I apologize for the surroundings but this meeting is top secret." Ladybug said to the gathered group of Ayla, Nino, Kagami, Luka, Max, and Kim. "I've done a lot of soul-searching about how things should proceed after the events of Miracle Queen back in spring. Luckily, I have a reliable partner who helped me reach this important decision." Ladybug smiled at Cat Noir who smiled back at her. "I've decided, no we decided, it is best if the Miraculous are split up. We are trusting each of you with the guardianship of your respective Miraculous and the care of its Kwami. This is a great responsibility not to be taken lightly."
"But what about Hawk Moth? He knows who we are." Alya pointed out.
"That won't do him any good." Cat Noir said. "He's after my Miraculous and Ladybug's Miraculous. None of you know who we are and we don't know each other's civilian identity either. Kamikotizing you won't help him achieve his goal."
"But what about us knowing each other's real and secret identities won't that help him?" Kagami asked.
"Not in the least," Ladybug said. "Because of Miracle Queen's actions, Hawk Moth already knows who you all are. I'm sorry as the leader of our group that was my failure. This way we are eliminating his advantage. If you know who is who in our crazy hero world you can help each other whenever things go sideways, and you can help Cat Noir and me without depending on us to give you your Miraculous during a quick-moving crisis."
"The only reason Ladybug and I are keeping our civilian identities secret is because we must make it as difficult as possible for Hawk Moth to achieve his goal. I do not exaggerate when I say this, if he does get what he wants the world could be in jeopardy. We've all seen what he can do with the power he already has. The man is a menace." Cat Noir said. He and Ladybug then handed out the Miraculous to their new permanent owners.
"Makes sense," Luca said.
"What about the Bee Miraculous?" Nino said bringing up the elephant in the room.
"True, it needs a new holder, after how that creep Chloe stabbed us in the back," Max said.
"I don't care who it is as long as we keep that traitor Chloe far away from it," Kagami said.
"Yeah, we need someone trustworthy," Kim said.
"I know Chloe did a lot of bad things but maybe w-," Ladybug said only to be cut off by Luka.
"Look, Ladybug, you are our leader and I respect your opinion but Chloe is a trash person. I know you probably feel bad about punching her after she reverted to her normal form but she kind of had it coming." Luca said to which the others agreed. "I think I speak for everyone when say I wouldn't feel comfortable working with her again." Once again the others agreed. "Sorry for cutting you off but it had to be said."
"Okay, no Chloe," Ladybug said resigned. Cat Noir said nothing. He had gone to bat for Chloe to become Queen Bee in the first place and he felt partially responsible for her actions."We'll start a search for a new Bee Miraculous candidate soon."
Later
"Thanks for staying after the others left," Ladybug said.
"Anytime milady," Cat Noir said with a flourish and a bow.
"Please don't do that, okay?" Ladybug said looking uncomfortable.
"Huh?" Cat Noir said puzzled by her reaction.
"Flirting, I can't flirt with you from now on. Something has changed, something important. I have a boyfriend a wonderful sweet boyfriend who I deeply care about." Ladybug said cutting to the chase.
Damn, this was hard but she had to persevere. There was no way she would betray Adrien with Cat Noir or anyone else. If she did betray Adrien she would be a "trash person" as Luca would say.
"I understand, I do. I've recently met someone special too. I love my girlfriend and I would never betray her trust in me. Like your boyfriend, she's a wonderful sweet person who doesn't deserve to be cheated on. I'm sorry if I overstepped with you just now. I was only having fun but I see it was wrong." Cat Noir said.
"You, you love her?" Ladybug said. "Love is such a strong word, I mean."
"It is, and I do love her with all my heart. I feel alive when we are together." Cat Noir said. "What about your boyfriend, do you love him?"
"Yes, I love him more than I've ever loved anyone else," Ladybug said without hesitation.
"So, friends," Cat Noir said with a smile. He offered Ladybug his hand.
"Friends," Ladybug said with a smile of her own. She shook his outstretched hand.
First day of Fall Class at Paris Junior Highschool a few days later, morning
"Hi Chloe," Lila said waving at the other girl to get her attention.
"Hi Lila," Chloe said. She was confused as to why the other girl greeted her with such enthusiasm. Other than Sabrina and Marinette, no one acknowledged her presence.
"How does it feel?" Lila asked holding up her phone.
"How does what feel?" Chloe said not liking where this could be going.
"Being humiliated by Ladybug and then roasted on social media all summer. You're a meme girl, several memes, I think they made a dozen at last count, see?" Lila showed Chloe a slew of unflattering Queen Bee memes. Worst yet were the videos Lila started scrolling through that roasted Chloe herself calling her a "terrible human being", "a spoiled brat", "a fascist", "a bitch", an "advertisement for birth control", speculated she was "sleeping with Hawk Moth", and other nasty things. "I don't know how you can show your face around here. Everyone here hates you. Jeez, Chloe do you have no decency? But forget all that for now. I have a more pressing question. I have to know are the rumors true. You see I like older powerful men. How is ol' Hawk Moth you know, in the sack, is he any good? Can he satisfy you?" Lila asked smirking. Her voice was loud enough so everyone within earshot could hear her vulgar comments.
For the first time since elementary school Chloe felt like she was going to cry. "You're awful Lila just awful!" Chloe said.
"I'm awful, yeah right! I'm not the one sharing a bed with Hawk Moth!" Lila called after Chloe who ran to the nearest bathroom tears streaming down her face. Everyone looked at Lila in stunned disbelief. "What, I heard it on social media?"
Sabrina who had just entered the room stared at Lila. "You didn't have to be so mean. Chloe is suffering enough." Sabrina said following a staring contest between her and Lila.
"Aw, did I hurt your faux girlfriend's feelings? How rude of me, bad Lila bad." Lila said with a pout slapping her hand in a display of mock punishment. Sabrina's eyes went wide. "Don't act surprised. Everyone and I mean everyone knows you want in her pants it is an open secret that's why you let her treat you like dirt, but does she know? Maybe after she recovers I could tell her so everyone can see how she reacts, how about it?"
"No, please don't," Sabrina said.
"That is quite enough, Lila. Your conduct this morning has already been atrocious and classes have yet to start." Caline Bustier said interjecting herself between Lila and Sabrina. "This school doesn't tolerate harassment of any kind nor discrimination based upon sexual orientation real or perceived. You're coming with me to see the principal, young lady."
Lila sighed. "Sure thing, see you around lady killer," Lila said winking at Sabrina.
"Not one more word, Lila. You are only making things worse for yourself." Caline Bustier said taking Lila away.
With the absence of Lila, Sabrina felt every eye in the classroom on her. She wished she could disappear. She was slowly slinking away when Juleka Couffaine and Rose Lavillant approached her.
"Do you want to laugh at me too?" Sabrina said defensively.
"Not at all," Rose said.
"Is it true, do you like Chloe?" Juleka in her soft voice.
"Uh, I, I. I, yeah, I do." Sabrina stammered. She saw no point denying her feelings now that everyone knew, curse that Lila.
"How wonderful," Rose said hugging Sabrina.
"Okay," Sabrina said confused.
"You should tell her how you feel," Juleka said softly while Sabrina extracted herself from the joyful Rose.
"I, I'm, I'm, not sure I have the courage. What if she says no? I'd be crushed." Sabrina said.
"But what if she says yes?" Rose countered.
"I know how you feel. I was terrified of asking Rose out on a date and now we are going steady." Juleka said softly.
"You two are a couple?" Sabrina asked looking back and forth between the pair.
"We sure are. We'll celebrate our six-month anniversary next month." Rose said smiling and hugging her girlfriend coaxing a smile out of the shy Juleka.
"If things don't work out we'll be here for you," Juleka said softly.
"Yup, but I'm sure things will work out between you and Chloe. I have a sixth sense about these things." Rose said.
"Okay, I'll give it my best shot," Sabrina said gathering all her determination.
Agreste Mansion
"Nooroo and Duusu unify." Gabriel Agreste said unifying the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous to become Shadow Moth. "Now to finally obtain my wish." Shadow Moth said.
