Chapter 6: The Golden Harp:
Urikohime's POV:
I am sorry for interrupting Jack's story as well, but I also figured you would like to know who I am. My name is Urikohime and believe it or not, I was born from a giant melon. I could not make that up if I tried. An old, childless woman found the melon and was going to eat it, but then she found me in it. Would you eat a melon with a baby inside? I was sent by the Gods to be a daughter for her and her husband. They named me Urikohime. One day, I was weaving while singing as everyone listen which according to some people, I have the beautiful voice of a mermaid. Then one day, I met Momotarō. He is a handsome young man, with rosy skin, lean features and long, black hair, tied into a ponytail with a white ribbon. His attire consists of dark blue balloon pants, a white shirt and light blue overshirt. He wears several armor pieces over his wrists, upper body and lower legs, along with white socks and wooden sandals. He also wears a pink, armless coat, held closed by a white band and a straw hat. He says that like me, he was born from a fruit, a peach and he was adopted by a couple with no child of their own. It seems we were made for each other.
One day, a creature called Amanojaku tried to grab me and then impersonate me, but a man arrived and tried to save me. The creature and the man then fought, but the creature used dirty tricks and knocked him out.
Urikohime's POV - Flashback:
I was brought to the Mountain Demon's palace to face the Demon who feasting on giant slugs from her giant bowl.
"EXCELLANT! SHE'S FINALLY HERE!" says the Mountain Demon with that hideously cruel smile.
"What do you want," I asked as I heard stories about her and her ferocious appetite, especially for humans.
"I WANT YOU AS MY BRIDE!" says Po Kong as she reveals an empress' dress that's about my color scheme, size, height, and weight.
"What," I asked, "you're a monster who kidnapped me and took me from my parents! I would never marry you and besides, you're a woman and I prefer men!"
"I'LL GIVE YOU TIME TO RECONNSIDER!" says Po Kong as she grabs me. She then locks me in a box and locks that box in a chest. "AND WHEN YOU DO RECONSIDER, YOU'LL BE MINE FOR ALL ETERNITY, MY LITTLE MOON CAKES!"
Urikohime's POV - Present:
One good thing about this, at least Po Kong gave me something to use to entertain myself, a magical harp that plays itself and sings. All I have to do is say "With all my heart, I would love to hear your art."
Harp: My, what a happy day
What a sunny sky
Kind of makes you sigh in a happy way
What a very merry day
All the world is gay
When your cares are light
And your heart takes flight
And you're swept away
The air is sweet with clover
The clouds are turning over
Oh, yes, they're turning over
Just to show their silver lining
My, what a happy day
Never knew such bliss
Never read of this
In a book or play
What a lovely day
What a great big gorgeous, sumptuous, thumping, bumptious, hum-galumptious, simply scrumptious
My, what a happy day!
Bull: My, what a happy day
Crows: Never knew such bliss
Never read of this
In a book or play
What a lovely day
What a great big gorgeous, sumptuous, thumping, bumptious, hum-galumptious, simply scrumptious
Oh, my, oh, my, what a happy day!
I love my harp, but I just wish I didn't get it from a monster.
I heard the Demon in her cobra form saying, "I'LL BE TAKING A NAP, MY LITTLE MOON CAKES, BUT I CAN'T TO WAKE UP TO SEE YOUR LOVELY FACE EVERY MORNING ONCE YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND!"
The Demon in her cobra form went to go to her room for her nap. I'm even more horrified to think of what will happen if I agree to be her bride.
Jack's POV:
"Did anyone else hear that singing," I asked.
"Never mind that," says Momotarō, "did you hear what the demon said. The demon's asleep now, we can now save Urikohime."
"Then what are we waiting for," asks Zhang.
. . .
We then traveled to the demon who's back in her true form is now sleeping on her bed and used a rope to take the key from her.
. . .
We then managed to get the key in the chest's keyhole. It wasn't easy, but we managed to unlock it. Now comes the hard part.
"How are we going to get that box up here," asks Zhang.
"Why couldn't she have been the pebble demon," I asked.
. . .
We then managed to get the box up, but we now needed another key to unlock the box.
"It never ends," I said.
. . .
We then took the other key from Po Kong. She almost woke up... but she didn't.
. . .
We then used the other key to unlock the box and Urikohime came out.
"Urikohime," says Momotarō.
"Momotarō," says Urikohime.
The two then share a long kiss, but then the Mountain Demon came. Zhang and I tried to warn them, but then they stopped and saw for themselves.
"THAT KEY!" says Po Kong, "IT DOES NOT BELONG IN THIS WORLD! THAT BOX DOES NOT BELONG IN THIS WORLD ALSO!"
"I believe she is sleepwalking," says Zhang, "let's go!"
We then snuck away.
"THAT SHADE OF WHITE DOES NOT BELONG IN THIS WORLD! THAT RUG DOES BELONG IN THIS WORLD, BUT NOT IN THIS ROOM!"
. . .
We managed to make it out of the room, but then Po Kong who woke up grabbed me.
"JACK!" shouted Momotarō.
. . .
"FOR WHAT YOU DID, I'LL GRIND YOUR BONES TO MAKE MY BREAD!" says Po Kong, "AFTER ALL, I LOVE THE SMELL OF AN ENGLISHMAN!"
To Be Continued
