EPILOGUE

Tom carefully observed Potter and Hawthorn test their mettle in a clash against one another. He was impressed with their development in a way only a teacher could be.

As his smile stretched wider at the display before him, he tipped his head to the side where his subordinate was standing. "You did well in bringing me this," he said in Cushing's melodic voice. "It is paramount we stay informed of our enemy's growing strength."

The man beside him hummed. "It was no trouble, Renata," the man said in his gravelly timbre. Only his equal status as an Acolyte allowed him to address her without rank. "It's only a memory."

Tom nodded as they exited the Pensieve. "Yes, but one the Dark Lord desires. He is eager to study the boy's growing strength."

"That is one thing I do not understand," the man sighed. "Why allow Potter to get stronger? Why not eliminate him while he's still young and vulnerable? We've had the opportunity."

Tom shrugged. "I do not know, but it is not our place to question our Lord's wishes." Before he could ask further questions, Tom swiftly added, "Keep a close eye on the boy. Report his movements directly to me. Is that clear?" The Acolyte paused, still unaccustomed to taking orders from anyone other than the Dark Lord. But he eventually bowed his head to Tom as all did.

"It will be done," he said. "But what if the boy should perish in the Tournament?"

Tom curled his lip at the very thought. "Then he was of no use to our Lord in the first place."

As the Acolyte departed, Tom allowed himself to relax in his seat. Without any interference on his part, the boy had managed to do what no one had before him and qualify for the Triwizard Tournament as a Third Year.

Nicolas had certainly trained him well, but Tom liked to think that it was his teachings that had sent the boy down this path.

A path that ended with the boy swearing fealty to him or dying at the end of his wand. Either way, the hope that The Boy-Who-Lived represented would die by year's end. It was all coming together even more perfectly than he planned.

All he had to do now was wait as Harry did all his work for him.

Author's Notes:

That's the end of The Promise of Prometheus.

Harry and his friends have gotten trained by a top Auror and have gotten great combat experience while Voldemort just keeps plotting in the background.

The Triwizard Tournament has been set up and is going to be the biggest thing I've ever written.

Three parts down. Four to go. Let's do this!
