It's hard to turn the page when you know someone won't be in the next chapter. But the story must go on.

This is a short chapter I made for stuff that will happen later on in the story.

Grays pov

After everything went down with Future Natsu, we were told to go home and get some rest since it was already dark and Future Natsu had a surprise for us the next day. I thought it sounded suspicious, but let it go for now.

What I really thought was a surprise was when he told us to call him Ether. I didn't know why he chose that name, but I figured I would go with it. "To each their own." Once I got home, I prepared a small dinner consisting of soda, some mashed potatoes, and some vegetables and ate alone at the small wooden table in my kitchen.

I wish I could say that after that I went to sleep and had a peaceful night, but I didn't. Instead, I lay in my bed for what seemed like hours, wondering what my future would be like now that Ether had just suddenly appeared.

After much thinking, I eventually managed to fall asleep, twisting and turning until I found myself in a field of golden wheat that looked so convincing I almost thought it was made of real gold. The clouds were so beautiful; you could stare at them for hours. The sky was a perfect mix of dark and light blue, with the little stars seeming to blend in perfectly. The moon and the sun were on opposite sides of each other and shining brightly, as if they were true lovers who had finally been reunited, unlike what we often hear in legends.

I looked over the golden wheat and saw white buildings with people walking around them.

'Maybe I can ask one of them where I am,' I thought as I moved to take a step forward, only to be hit straight in the face with a force that knocked me back away from the people, onto the golden wheat again. As I got up from the floor, rubbing dirt and extra wheat off my pants, I saw out of the corner of my eye what looked like a man. I could tell he had a firm body, judging by the way he was standing in the shadows. He had a white shirt and jeans on. Though I couldn't see his face, I felt he was oddly familiar.

"Hey, who the hell are you, and why am I here?!" I shouted.

"Jeez, I never knew I was this loud." As he walked closer, I finally got a clear look at his face. His black eyes were glowing with intensity as they lightly glared at me, while his lips seemed to be holding back a smile of amusement.

"You look like me," I said, looking at him as closely as I could to find out if I was really just hallucinating or not. But he was real. I was really standing in front of my doppelgänger or whatever this guy was. "Alright, what the hell is going on! Who are you and why do you look like me?"

The man just rolled his eyes at me as if I was crazy. "I'm you from the future. Or well the future Natsu's future or is it the dead fut- oh whatever! The main point is that I'm you from the future!"

My eyes widened in shock. This was me? I looked so calm and at peace with everything, even though I still had so many scars. I looked at his arm to see more of his scars, but found only a black mark on his arm, as though it were sealed to him. I pointed to it with my eyebrows raised to question him about it.

"Oh the mark on my arm." He said raising it so that I could get a better look. "It's why your here it's very important for your future and you really gonna need it."

I looked at him in shock, but before I could even get a word out, he grabbed my arm and summoned some of his ice magic. The next thing I knew, my arm was burning like it was on fire. I tugged my arm away from his grip, rapping my hand over it on instinct to try and subdue the burning sensation. Once I felt that the burning sensation was fading, the mark that had appeared on his arm disappeared from his arm and reappeared on mine.

"What the hell did you do?!"

Future me only shrugged as if this was a normal occurrence. "I've gifted you my demon slayer mark," he said. "Though you won't be able to use it just yet; you'll need to unlock it when the time is right."

I wanted to scream at him about what the hell that was, but before I could even pick my mouth up off the floor, my vision blurred as if I was waking up from a dream. The last thing I heard before I passed out was, "Try not to make the same mistakes I did; otherwise, you'll regret them forever, even in death."

After that, I awoke in my bed, drenched in the sweat running down my face. I looked down at my arm to see if the mark had appeared; only to find just my plain skin.

'It was just a dream, it was just a dream,' I repeated in my mind to quell my worries over what the future me had said. I couldn't recall much about the place where I was or even what I was wearing, but I remembered for certain the final words he had spoken to me.

I jumped out of bed and took a nice shower. I put on some plain black pants with a white shirt, and finally, I slipped on some black shoes to complete the look. I walked out of my house, locking the door behind me. Despite everything seeming fine, I still had this weird feeling, like I had opened Pandora's box.

I sighed remembering that Ether still had that little surprise for us. "This is gonna be a long day"
