Chapter 1: After

Quinn Puckerman awoke in a New York hospital, her vision blurred and her surroundings unfamiliar. Confused and disoriented, she struggled to piece together the events of the night she had lost her family in a drive-by shooting. As her mind gradually cleared, she found herself reliving the horrifying memories, her emotions raw and overwhelming.

At that moment, Quinn made a chilling discovery. Despite the heavy dose of pain medication she had been given, she had retained a vivid recollection of what had happened that night. She managed to name the men responsible for the heinous crime, and her account seemed utterly compelling.

However, no one believed her. The police, who had doubts and skepticism, dismissed Quinn's claims as mere delusions caused by the drugs she was taking. They were convinced that her judgment was clouded and her memories were unreliable.

Frustrated and consumed by a sense of injustice, Quinn decided to take matters into her own hands. She emptied her bank account, setting aside every penny to finance her quest for justice and retribution. For a year, she immersed herself in the world of street fighting, honing her skills and gaining the physicality needed to confront those responsible for her family's deaths.

But Quinn's quest for vengeance did not stop there. She set her sights on the corrupt individuals in law enforcement who had allowed those responsible for her family's murder to walk free. She learned to shoot accurately with the guns her late husband, Noah, had left behind. Day by day, she became more adept at handling firearms, becoming a skilled marksman.

As Quinn's plan unfolded, those directly involved in the case began to meet their demise. Mysterious bombings and brutal beatings targeting law enforcement officers involved in the initial investigation left no doubt as to the identity of the assailant. The bodies of the victims were found hanging upside down, tied to streetlights, a grim testament to the heartlessness of the perpetrators.

The authorities were baffled by the string of attacks on the anniversary of the attack on Quinn's family and sought to apprehend the culprit, but to no avail. Quinn's elusive nature and the ability to strike without warning made her a formidable adversary. The fear that gripped the police department grew with each passing day, fueling a sense of helplessness and desperation.

A veteran police officer, Captain Bryant Jameson, soon realizes Quinn's actions were valid after learning his partner, Richard Jennings, is friends with a local gang member, Rico Martinez. Martinez was the driver of the car Quinn identified after the shooting while she was still in the hospital. Soon, the FBI takes over his case after Quinn botched a sting operation against Rico's gang.

One day, Bryant noticed that the crime had gone down in the area where Rico's gang lived. The chief of police, William Howard, and the head of the FBI, Trent Kilmer, soon informed him they had a warrant out for Quinn's arrest and that there was no drug ring. He didn't believe them and went home, where he found an unmarked van parked outside his house.

He thought the van belonged to the FBI until he found Quinn sitting on a couch in his living room. Quinn held a picture of Bryant's daughter, Brianna, in her hands as she said, "I read about her death in the newspaper. My husband was addicted to painkillers, and I learned he had begun dealing drugs before our daughter's birthday. Elizabeth was our second daughter. We gave up our first child, Beth, for adoption when we were teenagers."

Bryant notices the blood on Quinn's shirt and offers to take her to the hospital. Quinn declines and starts to leave when Bryant says, "You can't fight them alone, Quinn."

She grabbed Bryan's bulletproof vest and said, "Watch me!" before storming out.

Two days later, Quinn infiltrated Rico's lair after shooting two of his lackeys and sneaking in. She had come there to kill Rico, but her plans changed as soon as she saw his daughter, Rosie. Instead, she lured him to the spot where her family was killed.

As she lay in wait, she heard a cell phone ringing from inside a nearby dumpster. Finding Trent's body, she realized he had been executed. Using his cell phone, she called the local news station and invited everyone to watch her confront Rico. The police arrived first, led by Detective Bryant, who watched as Quinn used her skills to attack Rico.

Soon, Rico is shot by a sniper, and Quinn disappears, only to be found in the cemetery at her family's graveside. As she stands over the grave, Bryant approaches her as she says, "I missed you. I missed you so much. I missed you so much."

Turning to face Bryan while lying on the ground, exhausted, she says, "Please, just let me die."

Bryant kneels beside her and says, "I can't let you do that, Quinn. This isn't where the story ends."

Quinn breaks down and says, "It is for me." Bryan quickly checks Quinn's pulse and asks for a registered nurse before Quinn is rushed to the hospital.

At the hospital, Bryan watches the news in disbelief as William announces his intention to send Quinn to jail. He soon visits Quinn and asks the officer standing guard to take a break. He enters the room and says, "Hello, Quinn. Remember me?"

He stands beside her bed and continues, taking her hand, saying, "How are you feeling?" He smiles. "You killed a lot of very bad people. You took down a massive drug operation. You exposed dirty bastards in my own department. There's not a cop I know who wouldn't be proud to call you one of their own."

Quinn soon finds a key in her hand as Bryant pauses and says, "Let's just say, some of us wish things didn't have to happen this way."

Bryan soon leaves, saying, "I hope you get better soon." Quinn stares at the key in her hand for a few moments before Kurt and Blaine enter with Quinn's best friend, Santana Lopez. Quinn quickly sends Santana into the bathroom with her before they begin changing clothes.

Santana takes a black wig from her purse and says, "I hope you know what you are doing, Quinn." Quinn doesn't respond and leaves with Kurt and Blaine. Shortly thereafter, the police issued a BOLO alert for Quinn, who was believed to be on a bus heading to Mexico.
