-Chapter Start-

Elsa fidgeted in her seat, a small stack of papers sat on her desk. In the week since she had gone to the Valley of Living Rock, not much had happened. Most of her work was still done from before the picnic, leaving her with plenty of time to think, and notice things.

Such as how Naruto had been acting strange all day. While him spending most of his free time inside the library for the past month had been weird. This morning he had drastically switched his schedule again.

He had missed breakfast, a moment enjoyed by everyone in the castle. Given that it was one of the guaranteed times that she and Naruto could spend together, it was strange for him to be absent. When she went to look for him, he had not been in his room, nor the library.

Now, three hours later, Elsa was sitting at her desk. Working through a small stack of papers, and still no idea where her boyfriend was. However, she was soon broken from her musings by a loud knocking sound.

"Pardon the interruption Your Majesty," the head maid spoke, standing half way in the door.

"It's alright Gerda," Elsa responded, waving off the older woman's concern. "What do you need?"

"I just came by to tell you that your lunch will be later than usual," the woman responded with a giggle. "I'll return to fetch you when it's ready."

"Thank you, Gerda," the queen said, before adding, "Have you seen Naruto today?"

Another giggle escaped the elderly lady. "I last saw him a little while ago, running around the castle, trying to finish up a project of his."

This was news to Elsa, who hadn't heard of Naruto working on anything recently. Besides the considerable amount of time he was spending in the library recently. She should probably ask him about that sometime soon.

With nothing else distracting her, Elsa turned her attention back to her work. Wanting to do something productive, instead of sitting around all day wondering where her boyfriend disappeared to. Or thinking about how good he looked with his shirt off, and covered in water.

And now the queen was distracted again, and could do little more than sit in her chair and fidget.

*break*

Several hours later, Elsa sat behind her now empty desk. A lone piece of paper sat in front of her. Once empty, but now filled with drawings of different geometric shapes and patterns. A hobby she had picked up as a child. Most likely stemming from her icy powers and the natural symmetry of snowflakes.

With all her paperwork finished, the queen had nothing else to do but wait for Gerda to return with news about lunch. So she sat and doodled on some paper. Distracting herself from her hunger and thoughts of a shirtless man that made her body heat up.

A knock sounded from the door. "Your lunch is ready, Your Majesty," Gerda called from the door.

"Thank you," the queen answered back, as she quickly stood up. A little embarrassed to admit how hungry she was. And she wanted to see her boyfriend at lunch.

Following behind the head maid, Elsa noticed they were taking a different route from normal. Instead of heading directly towards the dining room.

Before she could think to question what was going on, the duo arrived in the entrance hall, where a smiling Naruto was standing in the center holding a picnic basket.

"Surprise!" the blond called out when he saw the queen.

Elsa stared in shock at her boyfriend, before turning towards Gerda. Who, in hindsight, had been hiding a wide grin that had now bloomed on her face.

The head maid pushed the ice queen towards her intended. Before escorting the two blondes past the front doors. Sending them on their way with a wave, and a wish of good luck. As Elsa gave a final look at the castle, she saw several servants watching her from the second floor windows. All of them wearing large smiles, but none more so than a familiar red haired princess.

With her own smile, Elsa slipped her hand into Naruto's, and the duo began walking across the bridge into town. "So, why the surprise date?"

Naruto blushed, but squeezed her hand as he answered. "I wanted to spend some time with you. Just the two of us, before everything gets busy."

"And you thought the best time would be only a week after we went on a picnic at the Valley of Living Rock?" she questioned. Curious about the timing of the date.

"I was planning to ask you next week, but Anna thought it would be best to have it today."

With a playful shove into his side, Elsa urged her boyfriend to continue.

"She said that a year ago you had it rough when you became queen."

When she became queen. Elsa almost stumbled at the statement. Had it really been a year since her coronation? And, more importantly, the moment when her sister and everyone else found out about her powers.

How much had happened over the past year. The townspeople had learned about her powers, and accepted her. Even after she had created an eternal winter.

She and her sister's relationship had been mended, and was now stronger than ever. Along with meeting Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf. With the living snowman even turning a year old tomorrow.

And of course, there was the man walking next to her.

Naruto Uzumaki had quickly become one of the main constants in her life. So much so that his absence from meals had been on her mind all morning. When he was gone she felt cold, but when he was beside her, there was a comforting warmth that couldn't be replaced.

"What are you smiling about?" Naruto asked. Wearing a large grin of his own.

Only at his question did Elsa realize how much she was smiling. "I was just thinking about how much has changed in the past year."

"I hope they were all good changes," the blond said.

Leaning forward, the queen placed her lips against her boyfriend's, for a quick kiss.

"It's been the best year of my life," Elsa said as she pulled back. A mischievous smile hiding the deep blush on her face.

Releasing her handhold for a moment, she continued walking farther down the bridge that connected the castle with the town. Leaving her now stunned boyfriend behind. Maybe she was picking up her fellow blond's habit for pranks.

When Naruto regained his wits, he rushed down the bridge. Reaching his girlfriend, and entwining his fingers with hers, just as they entered the town proper. Both smiling and ready for what was to come.

-Chapter End-

Too short, much too short of a chapter, but after so long I felt that I needed to post something. This short chapter also set up a few things for the next arc. I'm not even going to try and justify why it's taken me so long to post an update. This should have been out months ago, and the fact it's so short does not help.

My other story "Pretty Maelstrom" also suffered from a lack of updates, but it is nearing its end. Which leads into why I needed to post a chapter for this story, even one this short.

There is a poll up for what Naruto x Disney story should replace "Pretty Maelstrom" when it's finished. This is mostly to ask what crossover everyone would be most interested in, but I reserve the final decision based on what I think would make the most interesting story to read.

You can pick as many options as you want from 1 to 20 (one under the total because that's how FF polls work), so please pick as many as you want. My profile is currently an FAQ about the poll. This poll has been up for a few weeks, so if you've voted previously it has already been counted.

This chapter is called Anniversary, not only because of Elsa's one year of being queen in the story, but also because Frozen is 10 years old this month, November 2023.

Thank you all for reading, and being so patient with me. And for sticking with this story for almost 10 years. I want to get at least one more chapter out before the end of the year, so I'm going to work on that.

Thank you for everything. I'll be back soon, take care.
