Quality of Mechanics
Everyone stands before a large iron door, the entrance to Pilaf Castle. Goku takes a running start and gives the door a good jump kick, breaking it off its hinges. The door falls flat on the ground as cold air emanates from inside the building. Oolong muttered, "Hasn't anyone heard of knocking?" Everyone ignores him as they enter the castle. Naruto said out loud, "This is so much better than the heat outside." His voice echoed throughout the dark hall, Sasuke scolded Naruto in a quieter tone, "Moron, he still might not know where we are yet." Naruto rubbed the back of his head saying, "Gee, Sorry." in a quiet yet slightly annoyed tone. Yamcha said, "Watch out, we don't know where a robot or a trap could be hiding." Goku walked first with Yamcha and Sasuke lagging behind by a step. Naruto was close behind Sasuke while Oolong and Bulma stuck close to Naruto, hiding behind him like a human shield.
It was utterly quiet as they marched down a dark hallway with torches being the only thing to light it outside of the daylight from the entrance that was slowly dimming the deeper, they got into the castle. Ten minutes of walking is suddenly interrupted when a thin rectangular pillar suddenly slides down from the ceiling, nearly crushing Goku who jumps backwards. Suddenly these pillars shot out of the walls as well as the floor aiming to crush everyone in their path.
One pillar was threatening to ram Bulma into the ceiling when Yamcha crushed it with a single kick, more and more tried to hit the fighters as Yamcha wound up narrowing dodging one that forced him onto his back when Goku used his power pole to cut it in half which led to the pillar that was narrowly missed Yamcha to fall on top of him. Goku, now worked up, began smashing every pillar in sight with his power pole and by the end of it the hallway was filled with broken debris from the pillars. Everyone slowed down to catch their breath and to check if everyone was ok. Yamcha pulled the pillar atop him to his right allowing him to climb to his feet he immediately said while fuming, "That's it let's go get em!" Suddenly Bulma grabbed onto Yamcha thanking him for the save which caused him to scream out hysterically. He soon starts up some breathing exercises at the behest of Puar leaving Team 7 confused by his reactions.
A minute after Yamcha's panicked yell, Sasuke said out loud, "If Pilaf didn't know where we were before, he does now." Bulma added, "It can't be helped. He has a radar too." Agreeing, the whole group continued down the hall until they started to see dim light up ahead. Following it they found the light was peeking from under a door, opening it led them to a large dining room with a long table that seemed perfectly set for guests. The tables lined up like a straight line in the middle of the room. Napkins aligned in front of each chair and table coverings were strewn on all the tables. Atop these napkins were bowls of warm soup with silverware set next to each bowl. The room was also quite wide leaving very much space unoccupied.
It was big enough to hold five families of four. Both Naruto and Goku voiced excitement upon seeing the food. Sasuke immediately put a hand in front of them, "Don't let your guards down, this is an obvious trap!" Clearly annoyed by how easily they were distracted, Sasuke scowled at Goku and Naruto. Naruto laughed nervously, "Yeah, yeah, I knew that." While Goku earnestly questioned who he knew that, sounding amazed at Sasuke's astute observation. Sasuke couldn't think of a response, between Naruto's thinly veiled excuse and Goku's innocent question he couldn't decide whether he should call out Naruto's lie or actually answer Goku's question. Suddenly from the ceiling two seemingly humanoid figures dropped from trap doors above. They landed on opposite sides of the room and upon inspection it is just as Yamcha feared.
Yamcha got in a fighting stance which caused everyone else to react in the same way. Except for Oolong and Bulma who hid behind the previous door they entered from, peeking through to see what was about to happen. Sasuke then said, "I knew it!" Both machines were identical to each other (both being solid white with silver outlines) being a thick white torso that leaned forward revealing an elongated head that curved at the top and circled around to the rest of the head. (Think Freeza's third form but less hornes and much thinner.) with two red lenses that are outlined by a square goggle-like shape with no nose or mouth. It had a short neck attaching it to the body. It had two legs below its torso that curved like a bird's hip which made the robot lean forward.
Their feet leaned forward as well with four metallic lizard-like toes that clamped onto the floor. They both had large, thick arms that hung to their side but were attached below where shoulders would normally be. They had small mechanical hands that had large white plating surrounding it and they had four fingers that were made to behave like pincers that covered every corner of the hand, the hands pointed forward as straight as a gun barrel. The hands also had an orange metallic covering that circled just behind the hands of the back had six jet thrusters double the size as the ones outside, they were placed up their back in a pair pattern with the thruster being smaller and smaller the further they went down.
A pair of thrusters was also on the back of the legs that curved slightly. Goku and Yamcha jumped to the right side of the room and Naruto and Sasuke jumped to the left, deciding to split their focus in order to take on the two robots. They didn't expect the door in front of Oolong and Bulma to slam shut, trapping them outside. The dining tables folded into themselves as a clear glass wall rose from the middle of the dining room separating Team 7 from Goku and Yamcha. Goku and Naruto screamed at the spilled Soup. "Forget the Soup, we've been separated!" Goku shook his head and then attempted to break the glass wall with a punch, but the glass didn't even shake when he made contact. Realizing this, both teams knew that they shouldn't expect assistance from the other side any time soon. Before the fight started a familiar voice rang from the top of the room. "Hello fools, welcome to the worst cage match you will ever have in your lives!"
Naruto and Sasuke recognized the voice immediately, Sasuke spoke in an irritated tone, "It's him." "Pilaf" Naruto spoke his name with irritation evident in his voice. Pilaf yells back, "That's Emperor Pilaf to you!" Pilaf took a deep breath and said, "Anyway I'm glad you made this easy for me. I was hoping the Soap would split you, but you all did that on your own." Sasuke could feel a twitch come across his left eyebrow, "His plan was… Soup?" Pilaf continued, "Now that you're here, Spear and Sword can take their sweet time tearing you apart! "Spear, Sword, eliminate the targets in front of you." A robotic voice emanated from the robots as both said, "Mission Accepted, eliminate Targets." Suddenly the left robot's left wrist twisted as the hands opened up and a sharp spear head poked out as the hand itself pulled back. With the left robot's left hand, its wrist widened as the hand itself pulled back deep into the arm which closed the hole becoming a shield.
This robot was obviously named Spear as the right robot, named Sword, did a similar trick. The palm of the right hand opened up and widened the hand as a silver, thin sword with a pointed edge came through the hole and by the time it came out in full the hand clamped down on the rear end of the blade. Sword's right hand popped off its fingers as the hand itself flipped in on itself revealing a sword's hilt that shot out a large blade that was curved like Yamcha's old sword. Both robots' arms also doubled in length and now had joints that allowed them to utilize their weapons more accurately, the spear didn't have this joint however since it was all about thrusting speed it didn't need it.
The name of the robots was obvious and so was their weapons as both robots dashed toward their opponents, their feet only touching the ground when it made a change in direction which revealed there were much smaller thrusts at the bottom of the feet as well. The fight began with Goku using his power pole to deflect and guard Swords swings. His left hand went for a thrust, but Goku stepped to his right dodging it, but its left hand swung down at Goku with its curved blade which Goku blocked with his power pole. Yamcha jumped in from the robots right and launched his "Wolf Fang Fist" but that only pushed it back a step and right afterwards it dashed to Yamcha. Yamcha caught the robot's left sword as it attempted to cut him down the middle. It was a close call since the blade nearly reached his face, Sword then attempted to skewer Yamcha with its right, but Goku deflected the slash with his power pole.
The robot pulled the sword back and tried again only for Goku to deliver a good hit to its chest with his power pole pushing it back twice the distance as when it got hit with the Wolf Fang Fist. It had a dent in it, but it wasn't anything significant as it lunged back at the two warriors. Naruto and Sasuke meanwhile fought Spear who was much more mobile and had thicker steel in the front to support its combat style. Naruto and Sasuke threw three Kunai each at the robot, but its shield blocked the attack, the Kunai simply bounced off of the machine while it charged head-first toward Sasuke. Each time it did this it said, "Charge!" Sasuke dodged left narrowly dodging to the left, but the robot quickly turned to his right and dashed at Sasuke again.
Sasuke thought to himself, "I didn't want to use it this soon, but I don't have a choice." Sasuke's eyes flared up and turned crimson red, activating his Sharingan. Sasuke jumped to his left again and began running to the opposite end of the room yelling, "Naruto, attack its back!" As Spear chased Sasuke, he began to make several hand signs while dodging right and then left, Naruto threw two handfuls of shuriken toward Spear's back. Sasuke turned around having finished his hand signs as he prepared a jutsu, Naruto's shuriken hit Spear's middle pair and lower pair of thrusters causing the lower pair to shut down while briefly disabling the middle pair. Spear, for a brief moment slowed down greatly, which was the chance Sasuke was waiting for, Sasuke took a deep breath while saying the words out to himself, "Fire-Style: Fire Ball Jutsu!" and then blowing into a hole made with his fingers. Suddenly Spear is engulfed in a massive fireball formed from Sasuke's hand.
In the middle of casting, it however a spear pieces through the flames aimed at Sasuke, the robotic voice said, "Charge!" In a split-second Sasuke registered the attack and dashed to his right, but his left shoulder was grazed by the spear. Sasuke winces in pain as the side of his left sleeve begins to be stained red. The spear still misses its intended target however and the robot slams into the wall behind Sasuke headfirst giving him time to return to Naruto's side and is now standing next to the glass wall at the back of the room while putting pressure on the wound. Naruto checks on Sasuke saying, "Sasuke are you alright?" Sasuke replies while wincing at the pain, "Never mind that, why didn't you use a paper bomb?"
"You were too close and besides…" Naruto looked on as Spear pulled itself from the wall it crashed into and turned around to look at Naruto and Sasuke. "We don't have much space here anyway." Sasuke cursed thinking, "I hate to admit it but he's right. Blowing ourselves up won't help anyone." It was slightly charred but still seemed fully functional. Sasuke cursed again, Naruto then said, "What do we do now?" Spear dashed at them yet again chanting, "Charge!" however this time at half speed which gave Sasuke another idea. He grabbed Naruto and said, "We need Clones!" Naruto quickly formed a hand sign and summoned four clones. Sasuke then said, "Keep it aimed this way, toward the glass wall!" Naruto clones said, "Right!" and braced for the robot while blocking the robot's view of Sasuke and the real Naruto. Right when Spear pierced one of the clones in the chest and bashed two others with its shield, the clones used all the strength they had to push back while steering it to the wall. Right when this happened, the real Naruto while supporting Sasuke with his bad shoulder dashed to the opposite side of the wall.
While the Robot collided with the glass wall, Naruto and Sasuke moved to the centermost point of the wall opposite to the glass wall. Naruto followed Sasuke's lead despite his injury, Naruto did as Sasuke instructed. Naruto's clones vanished and Spear began to turn to Naruto and Sasuke's position. Sasuke had a quick look at the wall and saw a crack in it, but it wasn't completely shattered. He quickly said, "We need a springboard for this next part, can your clones, do it?" Naruto smiled, saying, "Of course, don't underestimate me!"
Naruto summoned six more clones and in groups of three crouched behind them and used their hands to support the real Naruto and Sasuke's feet and built up their strength. Spear finally charged the group and right then the clones pushed the two toward the glass wall but were immediately demolished by the high-speed robot. It then turned around, facing Naruto and Sasuke behind and yet again it said, "Charge!" Going headfirst for Sasuke and Naruto, Sasuke said, "Wait for it." The two Genin focused their chakra into the soles of their feet.
Right before the robot could get close to the two however Sasuke yelled out, "Now!" and both were launched into the air even faster than the robot could move. With no time to change course it smashed headfirst into the middle of the glass wall. Sasuke then yelled toward Goku saying, "Goku, it's your turn!" Goku, busy with fending off Sword's assault of blades, took a split second to look to where Sasuke was yelling from and realize in an instant what he had planned. Goku saw a small opening in Swords defenses and with a great, mighty jab from his power pole while yelling out, "Power Pole Extend!" Sword was pushed back toward the glass wall only to turn in that direction. Its right sword arm was pointed in that direction due to the unexpected impact, Spear suddenly burst through the glass wall and straight into Sword. Spear's spear skewered Sword's torso while Sword's sword pierced Spear's head but snapped after getting halfway into its body.
Sparks and electricity poked from both robots' wounds and all their joints which ended in a large explosion engulfing a chunk of the room while leaving a crater of robot parts and scrap metal. Goku and Yamcha are far enough away to avoid the blast while Sasuke and Naruto are protected from debris thanks to the surviving parts of the glass wall. Suddenly the doors unlock and the glass wall that had survived sinks into the floor, it was a total victory.
Author's Note: I hope no one was confused by the design of the robots here, I spent a lot of time figuring out how I wanted them to look and I'm a bit of a detail freak, so I hope they translated well onto the page.
