Ben's sudden question surprised Roubaul. But the old man anticipated it after hearing Ben's story about his finding on Nirvana's history. Ben is smart, so the old man knew he would find out there was a connection between him and Nirvana.
"I figured you would ask that question. Well, as you might have assumed, we are the Nirvits. More specifically, we are their descendants." Roubaul said.
Roubaul's answer was something Ben had never predicted and it sounds true. The Nirvit's lived more than 400 years ago, so Roubaul and the native villagers must be their descendants. He can feel something was amiss, but he didn't know what.
"Then what about Nirvana? Was is the real reason you sent me on this journey to find the Magic Library? You wanted me to learn about Nirvana's history, right?" Ben asked.
"Exactly." Roubaul nodded.
"Why didn't you just tell me about it instead of sending me on an exploration?" Ben demanded.
"Because I wanted you to learn about it objectively, not subjectively from my perspective as a descendant of the Nirvit's." Roubaul answered.
Ben was silent for a moment.
"Then can you reveal everything now?" He asked. Roubaul nodded.
"I have a dream. The same dream I shared with everyone here. Of course not you and your sisters, but the natives. Our dream is to find and destroy Nirvana forever. It is one of our ancestor's greatest inventions, but also a horrible past, one of our tribe's regrets." Roubaul said.
"Because it destroyed your tribe?" Ben questioned out loud.
"Because it destroyed our tribe in a horrible manner." Roubaul said.
He then went on to tell Ben about Nirvana and the reason for it's creation. And as Ben found out in the Magic Library, Nirvana was made to transform darkness into light. It was created to bring an end to a war occurring at the time.
The war came to an end and the Nirvits were happy. But they never expected Nirvana to have a side effect. When an amount of darkness got changed into light, the same amount of light will change into darkness.
"The light that got changed into darkness is our ancestors, the Nirvits. They went mad and turned evil and they started to kill each other. Only a few survived because they were too far from Nirvana. We are their descendants." Roubaul explained.
Nirvana was sealed after because no one at the time could destroy it. That's why it became a mission for their descendants to destroy Nirvana. But up to this day, none of the descendants of the Nirvit have the power to destroy Nirvana.
"Even you?" Ben asked.
"Even me. You might think I am very strong, but you are wrong. If we go all out in a fight now, I'm sure you would defeat me in no time. Sure I have strong magic power, but I am not a true combatant like you." Roubaul answered.
Ben thought about what Roubaul told him. It all made sense to him now, but something was still amiss. He can't remove that strange feeling in his heart. He doesn't want to suspect the old man is lying to him, but that strange feeling doesn't want to leave.
'I know he doesn't have bad intentions, but I get the feeling he is lying. Whatever, he won't be able to hide it for too long. I will try to uncover it slowly.' Ben thought.
"So you want me to find and destroy this Nirvana?" He asked.
"Yeah, but not now, you are not ready yet. Even if you were ready, I can't let you do it alone, there's too big a risk. You need to know that's not just us that want Nirvana. Some people on the dark side also want it." Roubaul informed him.
"Dark guilds?" Ben asked.
"That's right, but I'm sure it's not just them. Bad people with bad intentions are everywhere and Nirvana is a treasure for them. It needs to be destroyed before it falls into the wrong hands." Roubaul said.
"So what exactly do you want me to do? You want me to destroy it, yet you forbid me from doing so. If I don't, who will?" Ben asked with a raised eyebrow.
"You will, but you need to wait for now. I asked some friends to help us. They will help us find more people to aid you on this mission. We need to prepare thoroughly for this. I don't want to make the same mistake as my ancestors." Roubaul explained.
Ben was silent for a moment before sighing and nodded. He can tell the old man that he is ready to do it alone and was sure he can do it. But he knew the old man was a worrywart. Roubaul would never let him go alone even if Ben had the capacity to do it.
After that talk, Ben walked out of the guild hall with a lot on his mind. The strange feeling in his heart is still lingering, but he decided to ignore it and trust the old man. That strange feeling was not a bad feeling, just unease, so he could ignore it.
"Ben-boy." Roubaul called out to him.
"Yeah?" Ben asked as he turned around.
"I'm sorry for getting you involved in this even though it's my problem." Roubaul said with a sad expression.
"What are you talking about, Gramps? I wouldn't reach this level now without you. You took me in and taught me a lot, so it's right that I help you. We are family, so your problem is my problem." Ben said with a smile before he left the building.
'I'm sorry I can't tell you the truth now, Ben. But I promise I will tell you everything when the time is right.' Roubaul thought with a smile as tears came down his eyes.
Ben doesn't know what Roubaul was thinking and just went to the field. The girls are there because he told them to wait there this morning. He arrived and found them playing with Ueki, the green Nikora.
"You guys like him?" Ben asked.
"Yes, he is very cute." Wendy said.
"Why did you tell us to come here? It's not just to make us play with him, right?" Carla asked.
"You got smarter, Carla." Ben said as he rubbed Carla's head.
"Humph, just say it, no need for praise." Carla said 'tsunderely'.
Ben smiles and takes 3 small red gift boxes out of his pocket. He gave one to each of them, except Ueki, who only got a sandwich.
"Your birthday gifts." Ben said with a smile.
The girls smile happily and immediately open the boxes. Inside the boxes were necklaces with the same design as Mira's. Wendy and Carla's boxes also have rings with the same design as the one Bella wears on her tail.
"Mira?" Bella asked while holding the necklace.
"Yes, it's the same as Mira's necklace." Ben replied.
The necklaces have the same usage as Mira's necklace, to store magic power and use it in an emergency. It will be useful even for Wendy who can eat air to restore her magic power. But eating air to restore magic power will take longer than using this necklaces, so it's better for emergency situations.
As for the rings, they can reduce the weight of their user. They are useful for Bella and Carla to make them fly faster. The ring will also be useful for Wendy as it can increase her agility because she gets lighter. She needs to be agile as a Sky Dragon Slayer.
"I have one more gift for each of you, but you need to wait because I need to make them first. I just need to find good materials to make them." Ben said.
Ben said that, but the girls were too absorbed in trying their new necklaces and rings on that they don't listen to him. He sighed and just picks Ueki up to relieve his sadness because his sisters are ignoring him.
"My sisters choose gifts over their brother. It's such a sad moment, right, buddy?" Ben asked Ueki with dropped shoulders.
"Puun." Ueki answered while nodding and eating his sandwich.
Both of them just sit there silently and watch the girls try their new necklaces and rings on. Ben was happy they liked his gifts, but he was sad that they are ignoring him. Luckily, it ends soon as they thank him and play with him until noon. At least he is not forgotten.
