When Isara was very little, her adoptive father gave her some tools to play with. Since she was just a child, the girl had loved the notion of building things with her hands.

Things to move large items without exhausting so many people, a way to allow train to move underwater and, ultimately as her step-father died, a tool meant to reach the sky and touch the clouds. A silly dream from a little girl that grieved the loss of a father for the second time.

Yet now that Dream was no longer a Dream.

The IG-2B and the IG-4 was proof of it at the moment, but the ISARA-0, the name chosen by Princess Cordelia herself, was the first ever prototype of a working airplane. The Biplane was swift with its 75 kmh top speed, exceeding expectations but not ceasing the drive to develop more.

She would be a liar to not recognize that the push came from competition. The 'HM-1 Flying Boat' was the thing that ticked her the most. Hasso Meyer was a smart man, but one of the rudest people Isara had to talk with. He boasted a lot, tended to see himself as the smartest individual in any room and tended to ditch formality for the sake of informal arrogance.

Despite the abrasive personality, the poking had worked as intended. While she hadn't formed a company like Hasso did with his 'Meyer Airplanes Bureau', she took on Kurt's offer to get her own laboratory to test out new ideas over Flight. She was so driven and she had so many national resources to employ.

Of course, that didn't lead to any Mad-Scientist moments- Yet! But it wasn't like anyone could fault her considering all reasons driving her to be so ambitious. As a child that grew in a poor household, to finally have so much to employ gave the girl the euphoria needed to push through.

The assistants weren't exactly the finest she could ask. All of them were older than her, but they were all so respectful of her potential. Isara was a no-nonsense tidy researcher after all, and once she got over the usual shyness around new people, she took over a commanding role with more ease.

Her brother even visited recently and confirmed how much she 'matured'. It made her blush a lot and yet not as much as getting called out about her current feelings for her current 'boss'. Kurt was a wonderful man and, despite some moral restraints, Isara was keen to agree with Princess Cordelia: he could share, they (the girls) could too.

It was a matter of balance. And as someone that had long studied the matters of balancing kinetic energy, weight and thrust with planes, Isara was aware of how difficult and complex it was to do so without the keen mind of an attentive individual that is invested in the subject.

And she wanted this to work. It went beyond the kisses. The kisses were fuel, no reason for her to deny this much, but there was more going on in that relationship.

Still, back on planes, Isara was proud of the IG-4 even in its prototype stage. It was far from realized, but they got the massive size of its body already shaped up. The issue was less on the 'idea and the planning' and more on the realistic approach to it- they didn't have a strong enough engine to carry both the airplane's solo weight and also the numerous 100kg bombs that would be stored to be used.

Yes, she had promised herself to limit production of war-related aircraft, but by producing such a large plane, she couldn't deny the retrofitting of it from a 'civilian air transport' to a 'Strategic Bomber'. The classifications of various kind of aircrafts through their purpose helped keeping things neat.

In this case, the large aircraft's main purpose would be to bomb fortifications and war-effort industries to limit the combat capacity of a country. Strategic Destruction was a clean and life-sparing doctrine considering that the notion of Close Air Support implied the maximum destruction of human lives by exterminating soldiers as ruthlessly as possible through attacks from above.

There's a reason why she came to detest Meyer's 'Stuka'. The thing was plainly slow and built to be produced en masse to then bomb armies into dust and ashes.

Another reason to be driven in the work, another reason to be effective and driven.

Yet, today was different. One of her assistants, 25 years-old Olga Sukhoi from Turkanigrad, had given her a project she had 'been working on the side because she was sure it would fail'.

"That's stupid- why didn't you tell me?!" Isara was not one to reject ideas without giving it some thought. And this one, as the other assistants were keen to see, was not a bad one. No, it was the best idea she ever saw.

What if instead of horizontal take-offs, an aircraft took off vertically?

Such a notion was monumentally amusing and filled with endless possibility. The first thoughts were tied to the potential of such a project. A major sacrifice in terms of speed to create an highly stable aerial construct. One that would be sturdy, ideal for scouting, transportation and... and it would be safer. Of course, it will require several testing. It was an idea, uncharted territory, but some of the basics should still abide by the current Law of Flight.

The very thing Isara had been a co-founder of and thus felt compelled to find a solution to this new idea. Olga was given a raise in her pay, a big smiling hug, and then told that the prototypes of this 'Vertical Flight Tool' was going to bear her initials.

While to Isara this was just another wild project to go for a deep dive, the History of Aviation was going to call it the birth of the VFTs and... the rise of the worldwide renown OS Helicopter models.

AN

Isara may not be a good social person, but she is an absurdly OP genius when it comes to aviation. With little to no awareness on the topic and quite little education behind her, she built a biplane in the OG Valkyria Chronicles. This time, her potential is unleashed and she is about to become the 'Flight Mom(my)' this world deserves. What's next? A Flying Tank?
