Age 802, future timeline
"Alright Pan, that's good. Put all your power into it."
Pan launched a jab at Trunks, which the half-saiyan easily parried. She then kicked, which was dodged without much effort. Pan was getting mad at this point. Trunks wasn't fighting back at all. So, she decided to up the ante. She lept back and cupped her hands, charging a kamehameha. Trunks smirked, beginning to charge his own.
Both fired their blasts, with Trunks easily overpowering her and winning the struggle. However, Pan wasn't hurt badly, only knocked down. As Pan got up, she muttered,
"Come on, that was like the 10th time I've lost!"
Trunks laughed and said,
"Don't worry about it, Pan. you're really strong for not even being a super saiyan. In a few months you might overtake me!"
Pan smiled at Trunks, and he did the same. It had been 13 years since he had killed Cell, and there hadn't been any kind of threat to the earth since. Trunks hoped that there would never be a threat to Earth again. However, that was just wishful thinking. He suddenly sensed two energies appear behind him. He turned around and saw two strange men.
One was a short Purpleish-pink man, while the other was a large red man. The shorter man said,
"Hello Trunks. We have been watching you for quite a while."
A confused Trunks asked,
"Who are you?"
The shorter man replied,
"I am the Supreme Kai, and this is my assistant Kibito."
Trunks was shocked. The thought of a supreme kai was shocking to him. He knew of King Kai, but thought he was the end all, be all. The Supreme kai then continued by saying,
"I didn't come here just for a friendly visit. I have been watching you for some time. And there is a threat coming that makes the androids look like nothing."
"A threat……stronger than the androids?"
"Yes. It is called Majin Buu. The incarnation of Pure Evil born at the beginning of time. He was last controlled by the wizard Bibidi, and murdered most of the supreme kais. Even one of them could have destroyed Frieza in one blast. Buu is locked here on Earth, but although I killed Bibidi, he had a son named Babidi, who is planning to revive Buu."
"But….why would he come here now?"
"Babidi initially came here 28 years ago, but there wasn't any sufficient energy because the androids had been destroying everything. He's been gathering energy over the course of the last few decades, and now he's come back here after detecting your power Trunks. Please, you must come and train on my planet. Only you and your brother can stop Buu."
Trunks immediately nodded. If this threat was as serious as the Supreme Kai said it was, then he needed to help as much as he could. Pan was disappointed that she wasn't being asked to help, but reluctantly decided to stay back. Trunks and the Supreme Kai then went to Goten to ask him for help. Goten was reluctant at first, but his wife encouraged him to go.
The Supreme Kai teleported the saiyan brothers to his world, much to the chagrin of Kibito. The supreme kai then pointed at a sword lodged in a large rock. He said,
"You will be pulling that sword out of its stone. Once you do, you will become more than powerful enough to defeat Buu."
A shocked Kibito then said,
"Master, you cannot be serious! No one has ever pulled the Z-Sword! What makes you think these mortals can?"
"Don't underestimate them, Kibito."
Goten decided that he would try to pull the sword out first. He flew on top of the rock and put his hands on the handle. The others flew beside him to watch. Goten grasped the sword's handle, and then began to pull. He tugged on the Z-Sword with all of his might, but no matter how hard he tried, the sword wouldn't budge. Goten eventually fell over in pain.
Kibito mocked the young saiyan, telling him,
"I expected as much from a mortal."
Goten then got to his feet, putting his hands on the sword again. But this time, he began yelling as his power began to spike. Internally Goten thought,
'Aw man, haven't done this in a while. Sure hope it works!'
A bright golden aura flowed from Goten's body, as his hair flickered from black to gold. It had been so long since he had used the super saiyan form, he was struggling to activate it. However, with a final shout, Goten fully transformed. However, he still couldn't get the sword to budge. As he saw the others looking at him, he used this to give himself further resolve.
If he couldn't even pull this sword from the ground, what use would he be in the coming fight? He hadn't been of any help against the androids, and he had stopped training after that. He refused to continue being a liability. He unleashed more and more power, drawing out all fuel reserves. His muscles began to enlarge, shocking those watching.
Trunks thought to himself,
'He couldn't be….'
Goten let out a loud roar as his muscles completely bulged. His hair became more spikey, and his power grew much larger. Goten had achieved grade 2. However, even with one last desperate pull, Goten was unable to budge the sword. He collapsed again, and looked at Trunks sadly. He then said,
"Sorry man, I couldn't lift the sword."
Trunks put a hand on Goten's shoulder and told him,
"Don't sweat it man, I'll try next."
Trunks put his hands on the Z-sword's handle, and immediately powered up to super saiyan. If Goten couldn't pull this sword even in grade 2, then he needed to take this seriously. Kibito told him,
"If your brother's super saiyan powers were not enough to lift the sword, what makes you think you can lift it?"
Trunks ignored Kibito and began pulling on the sword. He struggled a bit, but with a mighty yell he was able to pull it out. The kais looked on in shock, Kibito especially was amazed that a mortal had pulled the legendary sword. Shin then smiled and said,
"Alright, let's get to work."
Several hours later, Trunks, now wearing the garb of the supreme kai thanks to Kibito, swung the sword and twirled it before settling into a stance. The Supreme Kai remarked,
"Excellent, Trunks! That was incredible swordsmanship!"
Trunks got out of his fighting stance and said,
"It's all thanks to you Supreme Kai. Had I been left to my own devices, I couldn't have honed my skills to this degree."
KIbito then said to himself,
"To think a mortal would be the one capable of lifting the Z-Sword. I still can't believe it."
Trunks then looked to Goten and asked him,
"Would you like a swing at this?"
Goten replied,
"No thanks. I can't even lift that thing, let alone use it."
Shin then raised one of his hands into the air and said,
"Well then Trunks, let's put the finishing touches on your training!"
A large block of metal then appeared from thin air above Shin, who explained,
"This is Kachin, the hardest metal in the universe. Let us see if the legendary Z-Sword is as sharp as the legends say!"
Trunks smiled, saying,
"Sounds like a plan!"
He got into a ready stance and said,
"Ready when you are!"
However, before Shin could throw the Katchin block, Kibito suddenly sensed something. He frantically yelled at the Supreme Kai,
"Su-Supreme Kai! Babidi is on the move!"
Shin set down the block of Katchin as Kibito muttered,
"It appears the time has finally come."
Sweating, Shin then looked to Trunks and told him,
"Let's go, Trunks! With the Z sword in your hands, we'll surely be able to stop the revival of Majin Buu! Goten, you come as well!"
Goten nodded, and they all flew away. As they did, Trunks nervously asked,
"Um, can I have my clothes back?"
"Ah, yes."
Kibito then used a clothes beam to restore Trunks's outfit. Once that was done, Kibito teleports them all to earth, where they immediately see two figures attacking a city. They were a strange alien with white armor and a green monster. Both appeared to have "M" tattoos on their foreheads. They quickly noticed the heroes and turned to them.
The small alien laughed and said,
"Ah, victims for master Babidi. Your energy will serve well for reviving Majin Buu."
Trunks drew the Z-sword, and Goten powered up to super saiyan. The full saiyan stepped up to Pui Pui, but then began to feel weird. He quickly realized that the large green monster was somehow eating his super saiyan energy. Shin, panicking, told Goten,
"Don't use super saiyan! Yakon is a creature that consumes light!"
As soon as Shin said this, Pui Pui told Yakon,
"Don't get too greedy, Yakon. You remember the plan."
Yakon grumbled to himself, and he and Pui-Pui suddenly flew away. The confused heroes gave chase. Eventually, they managed to catch up to them, and Goten launched a punch at Pui-Pui, knocking him out of the sky. The young saiyan flew at Pui Pui, and the two shared an exchange of fists. However, Goten quickly overpowered Pui Pui, and killed him with a kamehameha.
Seeing this, Trunks powered up to super saiyan and drew his sword. Before Yakon could consume his energy, Trunks plunged his sword through the monster's chest. As Trunks and Goten looked around, they saw a strange looking object. Out of it emerged a small yellow man and a large man with reddish pink skin, a goatee, pointy ears, and the "M" tattoo.
Shin and Kibito were horrified at the sight of the man, confusing Trunks and Goten. Shin muttered,
"How could Babidi have controlled Dabura?"
Before Trunks and Goten could ask who Dabura was, the demon King rushed at them, kicking Goten in the face and knocking him out. The demon King tried to destroy Kibito with a ki blast, but Trunks powered up to super saiyan and kicked him in the face, sending Dabura back slightly. Dabura then looked at Trunks and said,
"So you are the most powerful warrior on this planet. Your energy will be perfect for the revival of Majin Buu."
Trunks sliced at Dabura, but the demon King suddenly manifested his own sword and parried Trunks. The two engaged in a sword duel of epic proportion, every slice and jab being blocked and countered by the other. Eventually, the two backed up, and Dabura said,
"Not bad, child. But I grow tired of this. Allow me to show you my full power."
Dabura then began powering up, a huge pink aura flaring and causing the very earth to shake. Trunks looked on in awe, saying to himself,
"This guy…..he's as strong as Cell…no….he's even stronger."
Dabura then charged at Trunks, and quickly began to overwhelm the future warrior. Shin and Kibito attempted to intervene, but two ki blasts from Dabura were enough to render them nearly dead. The two got up, and Babidi laughed at them, mocking,
"You've never looked better, Supreme Kai!"
Shin and Kibito looked at the battle. Dabura was now easily overwhelming Trunks, and Goten was still knocked out. Shin muttered to himself,
"This can't be happening…"
Babidi yelled a Dabura, saying,
"That's right Dabura, Give it to him good!"
Dabura and Trunks clashed swords, Dabura smirking as Trunks gritted his teeth. However, Dabura then suddenly spit at Trunks. Confused, he blocked the spit with the Z-sword, but it then began turning to stone. A panicked Shin yelled to Trunks,
"Trunks, drop it! You'll be turned to stone!"
Trunks quickly threw the Z-sword to the ground, however, Dabura took this chance to slice down at him. Trunks caught the sword with his hands, and while he struggled to hold it back, the Z-sword fell to the ground and shattered. Kibito looked at the sword's remains in horror, and muttered,
"It….It can't be! The Z-sword has…!!!"
Before Kibito could say another word, Dabura let loose a ki blast, just missing KIbito by inches. Trunks landed on the ground, and Dabura laughed, telling the 3 heroes,
"I'll send all of you to the otherworld at the same time!"
Shin barely managed to say,
"Trunks, I'm sorry. I didn't expect Dabura to become one of Babidi's henchmen."
Babidi yelled at them,
"Pui-Pui and Yakon were nothing but decoys to lure you here, fools!! I won't allow you to interfere with my plans! It's taken me over two decades to amass the energy needed to revive Majin Buu!"
Shin yelled back,
"I won't allow that to happen…even if it costs me my life!"
Shin used the last of his energy to rush at Babidi, but at the evil wizard's call, Dabura fired a ki blast at the supreme kai. Trunks called out for him, and Kibito yelled,
"No! You of all people must not die!"
Before Kibito could say another word, Dabura suddenly appeared in front of him, a ki blast charged in his palm, and obliterated Kibito with a ki beam. Trunks cried out his name, as Babidi raised Shin into the air with telekinesis, telling him,
"Aha ha ha! You'll meet your friend in death soon enough."
Babidi began choking the life out of the supreme kai, who struggled for air. Trunks rushed at full speed to try to stop Babidi, but the supreme kai managed to tell him,
"T-Trunks…….Y-you have to do this…..You're….this world's…..last hope…."
Trunks's eyes then widened. He remembered back to when he was a teenager, training under Gohan alongside Goten, and words Gohan had told them.
'If anyone's gonna bring peace, it's you two. You're our last….'
'Hope.'
Hope. He was the last hope. Trunks's heart then became fueled by rage, as he roared in fury. The half-saiyan's hair spiked further, as a golden aura with sparks of electricity all around it burst from him. Babidi used a barrier to shield himself from the wind. As Trunks touched down, Babidi and Dabura saw his now slightly different hair, and lightning filled aura, as he said,
"I've had…enough of you two."
A confused Babidi asked to himself,
"Wh-what is this?! What is happening right now?!"
Dabura gritted his teeth as Trunks said,
"The peace we've achieved…..I won't let you take that away from us!!!"
Trunks ran at Dabura, punching him in the chest rapidly and kicking him away while yelling,
"This is for Kibito!"
As Dabura came to a stop, a panicked Babidi asked him,
"Wh…what is happening?! Can you do this or not?! Answer me!"
Dabura replied,
"There is no need for concern. This fool is about to break, and when he does, I'll strike. There's more to a demon king's power than this."
"You better be right! If you fail, my plan goes up in smoke!"
"I am aware of that. Allow me to do this!"
Dabura flew up at Trunks, attempting to slice him with his sword, however Trunks stopped it with one finger, grabbed it and smashed it in half with his bare hands. A panicked Dabura then jumped back and began firing ki blasts at Trunks with wild abandon. However, the half saiyan simply deflected all of them, and then kicked Dabura in the stomach so hard that his eyes rolled to the back of his head.
Trunks then yelled,
"AND THIS IS FOR THE SUPREME KAI!!!"
Trunks then kicked the demon king into Babidi, who went tumbling down. Dabura then got to one knee and summoned a spear from nothing. He readied to throw it, when suddenly a light blue light appeared around him and he froze. Dabura muttered,
"Wh..what is this…I can't move..!!"
He looked behind him and saw the supreme kai, using what little energy he had left to freeze Dabura in place. He then yelled to Trunks,
"Tr…Trunks! Now's your chance to finish him!"
Wasting no time, Trunks then charged a burning attack. Just as he was about to fire, he yelled in absolute fury,
"LEAVE OUR WORLD THE HELL ALONE!!!"
Before Dabura could beg for his life, Trunks fired the burning attack, vaporizing Babidi and Dabura, ending the threat of Buu for good. As Trunks reverted to his base form, panting heavily, Shin smiled at the sight. The threat that had killed his friends would never threaten another lifeform again. The Supreme Kai's final words were,
"We.…we really did it…the peace of the universe is no longer….threatened…"
With those last words, Shin fell to the floor, passing into the otherworld. Seeing this, a scared Trunks ran towards him, calling out for him. He picked up the kai, and realized that he was dead. As a teary eyes Trunks held the supreme kai's corpse in his arms, an unknown figure ominously watched from a large rock formation and said,
"Finally, I have found a world where the troublesome god of destruction of universe 7 does not exist. This will be perfect."
A black portal then appeared behind him, and he flew through it.
Author's note: Welp, that was the future Buu arc! In the spirit of the "Why can't" series, I didn't change much from the original story. The next chapter will be an adaptation of episode 47 of DBS.
