Chapter 11: Hurry Up and Wait

Edward

I heard the glass door slam back, hard. "Edward!"

Has she lost her fuckn mind?

I scabbled up from my recliner to rush towards the front.

"Edward!" She bellowed again.

For some reason, my feet couldn't get me down the hallway fast enough.

Jimmy's door opened just as I passed it.

"Have you lost your mind? Janey started.

"Put a sock in it Janey. I'm here to see Edward and I'm not leaving until I do."

I rounded the corner just in time to see them both standing with their arms folded across their chests.

"Are you going to go get him or do I have to go get him myself." She stepped closer to Janey.

"Piper." I said with a clenched jaw.

Both of their heads whipped in my direction.

She smirked.

The bitch had the nerve to smirk.

"Eddie I've—"

"I'm only going to ask this once." Jimmy's tone was carefully controlled but scary. "What the hell are you doing here?"

A flush creeped across her cheeks.

She looked down.

"Speak now." Jimmy spoke through clenched teeth.

The other tat artists had left for the day and thankfully Jimmy or I didn't have clients at the moment.

Had there been any clients in the shop, Jimmy would've handled this differently. But since it was just the three of us here, he wasn't going to hold back.

"I-I came to um…"

He cut her off again. "To start shit, right?" His stare was cold.

She jutted her chin, pointing at me. "He's been ignoring my calls."

"That gives you the fuckn right to barge up in here yelling like a raging b-?" He cut himself off with an edgy chuckle. "Look, you're no longer employed here, haven't been for almost four weeks now and this is why."

Even though I wanted to ring Piper's neck every time I saw her, I knew how to separate my personal life from business. I'd already fucked up once, I wasn't going to do it again.

It was Piper that kept coming back to my room trying to talk to me, even when I had clients in the chair.

After she got tired of me ignoring her, she started messing with client's appointments, pushing them back fifteen minutes later so she could come talk to me. She'd tell the clients I was running a little over with the appointment before theirs but then she come tell me the client called and said they were running a few minutes late.

But the kicker is she'd stay longer than necessary, feeling me out, trying to find other things to talk about until I politely dismissed her.

A couple of the clients were new to me, so I gave the benefit of the doubt thinking they got lost or something but then when she did that with Paul, I knew something was up because he's never late.

I mentioned it to Jimmy knowing he'd be pissed.

Yeah, I know I've done my shit, but I've never been low enough to mess over him or his business.

Her dumb ass was caught red-handed. My client texted me letting me know she had arrived and was waiting for me by the receptionist desk. As I was walking up front, I heard Piper tell my client I was running behind, but she'd run back to see how much longer it would be.

My client looked confused because I'd just told her I was on my way to meet her up front.

I stood there, quietly.

The jig was up.

She was caught.

Not only did I catch her lying, my client knew she was lying too.

Piper stood there, frozen.

Her eyes bulged and her ears were red.

Embarrassed.

She should've been.

Although, I wanted to relish in the fact that she'd finally been busted, I had to maintain a level of professionalism in front of my new client.

Needless to say, that was Piper's last day at Kode of Konduct.

Jimmy stepped closer to Piper. "I don't give a flying fuck what you and Edward do outside of here, but don't you dare bring that bullshit in here." He pointed to the floor.

"That's not fair." She put both hands on her hips. "You took his side. You didn't even bother to ask me what happened."

"I didn't need to hear from you. Not only did Edward catch you the client told me what you did." He cocked his head to the side. "I'm chill, easy-going but when it comes to this business…" He waved his hands around. "…I won't tolerate shit from anyone. Haven't you ever heard you don't shit where you eat? You weren't smart enough to keep your personal life away from your job, so you got fired. That was all you, honey. You can't blame anyone but yourself for that."

Jimmy turned, looking at me. "Take her outside and not in the front either." Then he turned his gaze on her again. "Do. Not. Come. Here. Again. Ever. You are not welcome in here for anything. You want a tat, there are plenty of other shops you can give your business to."

"Jimmy." She stomped her foot like a child.

"Don't Jimmy me, Piper. I gave you plenty of chances to get your shit together, but you didn't and now, now you came in here like this is a damn barn." He shook his head. "Nope, get the fuck out and if you come back again, I'll have Janey call the police." He dipped lower to her height. "Do you understand?"

She turned her head away from him.

"Do you understand me?" He asked again.

Piper nodded slowly.

Jimmy stood up to his normal weight, clapping his hands once. "Good." He patted me on the shoulder. "Get her the hell out of here, now." Then he walked back to his room, closing the door behind him.

It was Janey's turn to smirk.

Piper looked everywhere but at Janey.

Watching the shit eating grin come across Janey's face made me bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing.

Although, she didn't deserve me holding my laugh in.

The crazy witch brought this one on herself.

I didn't have a piece of remorse for her.

"Um, Edward, can we…" Piper pointed to the door.

I nodded.

She didn't say another word, walking out of the door.

Janey and I exchanged a look and she finally let out the laugh she'd been holding in.

I laughed at how hard she was laughing, shaking my head.

I think I would've enjoyed the moment better had I not been about to go outside.

It had been about four weeks since I'd seen Piper and I continued to ignore her calls. I enjoyed the quiet and wasn't about to let her fuck it up.

"I'll only be a few minutes." I said to Janey, before following Piper out.

"Okay, sure." Janey waved at me, grabbing for her bottled water.

Piper was leaning against her car when I walked in the parking lot.

"So, what is this about?" I stuck my hands in my pockets.

"You won't talk to me." She ran her hands through her red hair.

"Yeah… and." I shrugged.

She narrowed her eyes. "I have something important to talk to you about."

"Say what you came to say then."

She scoffed. "Why are you acting like this?"

I didn't bother to answer her, I just stared.

"Say something!" Her arms flapped on her sides.

"You came to my job claiming to need to talk to me, you talk." I gestured to her.

"Right." She huffed. "Well, I went to the doctor and um…" She paused fiddling with her fingers.

My stomach immediately dropped.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to hear the rest or run away from her as fast as possible.

Please, please don't let this girl say she's pregnant.

It's been a while since we've fucked but still.

But then again, she fucks so many people she probably wouldn't know who the father was.

"…and I had a fever and it hurt when I used the bathroom." She looked at me expectantly, but I had no idea what the hell she just said because I was inside of my own head.

I shook off the daze. "Huh? What did you say?"

She sighed heavily, hands briefly clenched. "Do you mean to tell me you haven't' been listening to me this whole time."

I ignored that. "So, you're not pregnant?"

"No." She shrieked. "Where the hell did that come from. I told you I was diagnosed with chlamydia and—"

"Chlamydia!" I jerked back.

She closed her eyes, taking a calming breath. "Edward, that's why I'm here. You need to get tested. The symptoms can go undetected, but it can cause serious complications if it goes untreated."

Shit.

Shit.

Shit.

Think Edward, think.

Go back to health class in high school.

Ms. Mays talked about it so much, showing pictures, which were disgusting. I was so fucked up I didn't have sex for two months.

I think that was a form of birth control for the whole class.

My shit wasn't burning when I took a piss.

I'm not burning or itching, and balls are the normal size.

But like she said, it can go unnoticed.

Fuck!

I've got to go to the doctor.

Wait a minute.

How long has she been walking around with this shit?

Could I have it?

Could I have given it to Bella?

Goddamnit!

I've got to get in touch with her.

She waved her hand in front of me, trying to get my attention. "Hello, Edward."

"How long?"

"How long, what?" Piper arched her eyebrow.

"Have you known?"

"About three weeks now." She bit her lip.

"Three motherfuckn weeks and you're just telling me!" I yelled.

"I've been calling you." She shook her head, pointing. "You're the one not answering my calls. That's on you."

"I ignore you because I don't want to hear anything you have to say."

Her mouth gaped opened.

I looked her square in the eye because I meant every word I said.

She swallowed before speaking. "My doctor told me I needed to tell my partners so they can get tested and you may want to tell Bella and anyone else you've…" She trailed off.

Bella had been successful with ignoring me after she found out about Piper but now, I had to make sure she knew.

Or maybe not.

If I don't have it, there won't be anything to tell right?

But on the other hand, if I do have it.

So much has happened already.

This would add more fuel to the fire.

Damnit!

How the hell was I supposed to tell her this shit?

"I'm sorry Bella but you might have a STD… because of me."

Yeah, that's not going to go over well, at all.

As irritated as I was that day about Hailey, I'm glad I don't have to have this conversation with her.

Other than that, I've kept my dick in my pants.

She snapped her finger in my face. "Edward?"

"Huh?"

"Where did you just go?"

"I'm thinking."

"About all the others you have to tell to get tested?" Piper said with a bit of sarcasm.

"What and who I do is none of your concern." I crossed my arms.

"Obviously they can't please you because you always come running back to me." She pointed to herself.

"It's not that, you're an easy fuck." I shrugged one shoulder, grinning.

Her lips curled with disgust, as she looked me up and down.

"I hate you Edward Cullen and I hope you have it and gave it to your precious Bella." A devious smile came across her face. "I think I'll fill her in on the news myself." She unlocked her car door, opening it.

A look of satisfaction appeared on Piper's face, a gleam in her eyes.

But I guess she had a brief relapse since she knows I have so much dirt on the shit she's done with others, including me, there's no way she'd say a word to Bella.

I popped my neck on both sides and rolled my shoulders, laughing at her.

"What's so funny? You won't think it's funny when I tell her."

"Oh, you won't be saying anything, Piper." I stepped in front of her, removing an imaginary piece of lint from her shoulder.

She pushed my hand away. "Why not?"

"Maybe this will jog your memory." I tapped my chin for a dramatic pause. "Malcolm, Tate, Richard and oh yeah…" I snapped my finger. "…and me." My lips twisted.

She quickly turned her head, with crossed arms.

I continued. "Now, I didn't record or take any pictures, but Tate and Richard did." I stepped closer, turning her chin to me, so she could look me in the eyes. "The only thing I'd have to do is reach out to one of them and they would gladly give me what I'd ask for."

She slapped my hand away from her.

I laughed because she knew it was true.

"You low-down bastard." Her nostrils flared.

"Hey." I chuckled, with my palms out. "You mess with fire you get burned."

"I didn't even know you fuckers were recording it until after the fact."

"I had nothing to do with it." I shook my head. "That was on them."

"But you're the one standing here threatening me."

"Because you're about to start more shit. Haven't you already done enough?"

"It's not my fault St. Bella was walking around clueless that we…" She waved her hand between us. "…were fucking. That stuck up bitch needed a dose of reality!"

My body tensed and my pulse sped up.

Before I knew it, I was standing directly over her.

She could talk shit about me all she wanted to but she was not going to call Bella a bitch in my face.

I almost forgot she wasn't a dude.

She flinched back, bumping into her car.

Come on Cullen, pull it together.

You don't hit females, no matter how much she deserves it.

I stepped back, looking upward and disparagingly shaking my head. "I—have you told me everything I needed to know?"

She nodded warily.

I started backing away from her, still facing her.

I needed to go.

"Edward." She took a few short steps towards me. "We still need to talk."

I stopped. "About what?"

"Us."

"Us!" I snorted. "There is no us."

"Why can't it be? You're not with her anymore." She moved closer and I stepped back. "I want you."

"But I don't want you." Giving her strong eye contact.

Her forehead wrinkled, as she bit her lip.

"I'm sorry but I didn't think you'd catch feelings. It's not like you didn't know what this was." I waved my hand between us.

She sucked her cheeks in before she exhaled. "If that's the case, why were you still fucking me when you were with her. Obviously, I…" She pointed to her chest. "…could give you something she couldn't."

"Nah, that's not it—"

She cut me off. "Bullshit, Edward! If she was pleasing you, really pleasing you, like I always do, you would've been in my bed." Piper looked at me expectantly.

If she thought I owed her some type of explanation, she was crazier than I thought she was.

I was over this shit.

Without another word, I turned around and started walking away.

"You fuckn asshole." She scoffed. "So, you're just going to walk away?"

I didn't respond.

I kept walking.

"Edward!"

I reached for the door, opening it, without giving her a second look.

"Uuuuuggggghhhhh!" She screeched.

Hopefully, she'll finally get the hint.

As I stepped into the shop, I was met with a concerned look on Jimmy's face, while Janey was sweeping an already clean floor.

I stared at Jimmy as he did the same to me.

I didn't have to ask if they heard some of that, the uneasy expressions already told me.

It's not like me or Piper didn't get loud.

Oh god! Who else could've heard?

Fuck it. What's done is done.

I have more important things to worry about… Bella.

That's something else that's been bothering me the past few days. I've driven by her house in hopes that Mr. Swan isn't home, so I can talk to her but it's like her car has been in the same spot, like it hasn't been driven, moved at all. Which isn't typical Bella behavior.

Unless she's hanging out with Tanya.

Or with that Gray fucker.

Maybe he picked her up, taking her away for the weekend or they all went somewhere together on a double date thing.

I'm definitely not one of Tanya's favorite people, she's hated me from the beginning, so I'm sure she's being telling Bella to forget about me and move on.

My throat constricted.

I began to imagine him and her together, together.

I ran a jerky hand through my hair, pulling it.

"Whoa, whoa." Jimmy walked towards me. "Dude, where did you just go?"

"I've gotta find Bella." I started pacing. "I—I need to tell her."

Although, I was more concerned about who she could've been with.

His brow winkled. "Yeah, you do but first you need to calm down and get tested."

I stopped pacing, looking between the two of them. "You heard… everything?"

"Yeah." Jimmy replied as Janey nodded. "You all were loud as hell."

"She pissed me off, like she always does any time she opens her damn mouth."

"But yet you keep fuckn her." Jimmy folded his arms across his chest.

"Well… you know…" I shrugged my shoulder, chuckling but stopped after Jimmy raised one eyebrow at me.

"That right there—" He pointed. "—is what has you in this situation now. You're always thinking with little Edward—"

"There is nothing little about—"

"Are you kidding me right now?" He stepped closer to me. "You could have some serious shit going on and you're joking about the size of your dick? Not only to do you have yourself to worry about, you may have to tell Bella!"

That snapped me back into reality.

Janey cleared her throat. "And everyone else you've…um…"

I exhaled shaking my head at the thought of that.

Jimmy pointed at her in agreement. "That part. You don't have time for your usual BS, Ed."

"I know." Slumping my shoulders, as if the weight of the world was on them.

"Get your ass to the doctor's office first thing in the morning." He turned to Janey. "Whatever appointment he has tomorrow morning, reschedule it." She nodded and walked towards the desk.

Jimmy closed the distance between us. "I'm not trying to make you feel worse than you already do but you gotta slow up with this shit." He shook his head. "Aren't you tired of it? It hasn't gotten old to you yet?" He stood there, staring at me, with those penetrating blue eyes.

I didn't really know the answers to his questions and I trying to distract him with a joke wasn't going to work either.

I was fucked and there was no way out of it.

Not only could I have an STD but the only girl I've ever cared about, loved, could have it too and it's all my fault.

My posture sagged, head bowed. "I fucked up, badly."

"That you did but you owe it to Bella and everyone else to tell them, if you actually have it. Piper isn't innocent either, but you have to own your part in this too."

He was right but I wasn't ready to admit that out loud yet, so I decided to share something I don't' think he heard.

"Do you know she threatened to tell Bella before I could?"

"E, you got yourself a real winner with her. She's been out for Bella's blood from the moment she found out about her. And the sad part is, I believe her. She would track Bella down just so she could throw it in her face. To remind Bella that you were fucking with both of them at the same time."

He was right.

Piper would do that exact thing.

She lives for all that drama bullshit, her and Alice.

"You know I'm not one with 'I told you so's' but…" He trailed off looking me directly in the eyes.

I felt nauseous.

I had a sour taste in my mouth.

I stumbled back to the chair behind me because it felt like the room was spinning.

Jimmy stepped towards me quickly. "You all right man?" Before I could answer, he called out to Janey. "Hey, Janey, grab a bottle of water from the refrig."

I couldn't see her, but I heard footsteps fading towards the breakroom.

For most of the summer I've seen that look of disappointment on Bella's face, but I couldn't even begin to imagine how she would look at me after I told her this.

I'm sure hate wouldn't begin to describe how she'll feel about me.

Abhor.

Detest.

Loathe.

Yeah, any or all of those might fit the bill.

There's no way I'm going to get her back now.

I could be jumping the gun too soon but with the way my luck has been going, I probably do have it already.

Janey brought me out of my inner rant. "Where you go."

I took the water from her but didn't drink it.

A part of me was just beginning to realize that we may not get back together.

This might be too much to come back from.

Jimmy watched me a second longer. "What are you waiting for, drink up." He tapped my foot with his.

"J." Looking up at him, slowly shaking my head. "I think I may have finally lost her—" I paused trying to swallow the lump in my throat. "-for good, after I tell her this."

He squatted down, making strong eye contact with me.

I knew that look, I hated it.

"You and I have always been honest with each other from day one and I'm not going to bullshit you now." He paused, blinking at me. "You lost Bella a while ago and now you have to face the repercussions of your actions."

I tried to maintain eye contact with Jimmy, but I couldn't.

So, I slumped in the chair, turning away.

I felt something in the pit of my stomach I hadn't felt in years and I didn't like it.

I hadn't been in this place in years.

All of a sudden, I felt trapped.

I scanned the room trying to find the closet exit and although my brain knew where to go, I couldn't get my feet to move. They felt heavy, like I was stuck in quicksand.

I put my hand on my chest, squeezing, hoping to help with the tingling I felt.

I saw Jimmy in my face, his lips moving but I couldn't hear what he was saying. Then Janey appeared behind him grabbing my hand, with a concerned look on her face.

He moved closer, mouth still moving, we were almost nose to nose.

I wasn't sure if that went on for one minute or ten but then it was as if a light switch had been turned on, I could hear Jimmy. "Edward, tell me what you need."

"Nothing. I—I'm fine." I stumbled over my words.

Janey exhaled, still holding my other hand.

He took the water bottle out of the tight grip I held it in. "No, you not, you're paler than usual." He unscrewed the top and handed it back to me. "Here, drink this."

He watched me like a scolding parent until I actually began to drink.

After downing half of the water, I closed my eyes taking a few deep breaths.

"Dude, you scared the shit out of me." He stood up.

Janey moved in front of Jimmy, leaning down, gently touching my face. "Are you okay?"

Not ready to talk yet, I nodded, taking another sip of water.

She searched my eyes looking for whatever she was looking for and I guess she found it because she finally sat down next to me.

By the unconvinced stare from Jimmy, he hadn't found what Janey did. I wasn't surprised though, he knows me better than most.

His receptive ass wouldn't accept what Janey would.

But he'd have to today because my feet no longer felt glued to the floor and I was about to make a quick exit.

"Thank you." I whispered.

"You're welcome." He smirked. "Wanna tell me what that was about?"

"I freaked." I sighed heavily. "I had all these scenarios running through my head and I fuckn freaked."

"Nah, that was too intense for it to just be that."

"Jimmy what do you want me to say?" I ran my finger through my hair. "Bella's father already wanted to shoot me the other day. Now, if he gets wind to this, he just might." I groaned. "Not to mention if my parents find out…"

He held his hands up, slowly stepping back. "All right, I'll let it go for now."

A deliberately exhaled quietly, scooting out of the chair to leave before either one of them could ask any more questions.

I gradually stood up, holding on to the arm of chair, making sure my legs weren't too wobbly to walk.

When I finally made it back to my room, I grabbed my bag and phone, turning off the light and locking the door.

When I made it back to the front, Janey was on the phone making an appointment with a client and Jimmy was sitting in the chair I'd just left.

Walking a little faster, I pulled the door opened and Jimmy stopped me. "So, I'll see you tomorrow afternoon." It felt like more of a statement than a question.

"Yeah." I replied.

My body was too exhausted to go back and forth with him. I felt like shit and I was ready to go home and crawl under my covers, not coming out until tomorrow.

My day started out decent, but it was shot to hell when Piper showed up.

CCCCCCCCC

"It's been a while, sweetheart." Elizabeth smiled up at me from behind the glass. "How have you been?"

"I'm good." I shrugged my shoulders. "Just been busy between work and school."

"I'm sure you have." She slid the clipboard in front of me to sign. "How are your parents doing."

"They're good." I smiled signing my name.

I still hadn't been back to my parent's house and only talked to my mother for a few minutes to prevent her or my dad from just dropping by my apartment.

"That's good. Go on and have a seat, you'll be called back shortly."

"Thanks." I nodded, turning away, heading to a chair in the corner.

I was lucky to be able to get a last-minute appointment, although I think it had a lot to do with the relationship Dr. Hobbs has with Dad. They went to college together and he's been our family practice doctor for as far back as I could remember.

Thankfully because of the medical laws or whatever they're called, my parents won't find out why I'm really here. But I won't be able to dodge his tongue lashing, at least it won't be as bad as my mom's.

At least I hope it won't be.

"All right, Edward." Elizabeth opened the door wide. "Dr. Hobbs is ready for you."

"Okay." I rubbed my neck before standing up.

"Everything okay?" She frowned.

"Yeah." I chuckled nervously. "Just thinking about a class." I lied.

"Oh." The concern left her face. "You're a smart young man, I'm sure you'll do just fine. You can head back to room three." She followed behind me.

I walked into the bright sun lit room, I opted for the chair instead of the examination table.

I've never liked those things.

Moments later a medical assistant that looked like she was still in high school came in took my blood pressure and temperature before Dr. Hobbs came in.

"Well, long time so see, Son. How have you been?" He asked.

"I've been good. How are you and the family?"

"I'm doing great. Of course, the practice is keeping me busy and Joanne has been enjoying being a new grandmother." He smiled. "Annalise and Trent just had our first grandson, Ethan."

"Congrats to you and the family." I smiled back at him.

"Thank you." Dr. Hobbs sat down on the stool. "So, what brings you in today. Liz told me you said you had to get in today, but you didn't say why."

"Well…um…" I guess we got all the pleasantries out of the way, he was right down to business.

He sat there waiting on me to speak as I bounced my knee, clearing my throat. "I need to get tested for a STD." It was almost a whisper.

He rolled closer to me. "I'm sorry but I didn't quite hear you."

I felt a prickling along the back of my neck.

I shook my head, taking a quick breath, figuring I needed to spit it out. "Ineedtogettestedforastd."

His forehead wrinkled. "Did you say what I think you said, Edward?"

Refusing to look him in the eye, suddenly I found the nervous system chart on the wall interesting, I nodded once.

"Edward, look at me." He said in that parent tone.

I shift in the chair, swallowing the lump in my throat before meeting his gaze.

"I need you to explain to me why you need to be tested for an STD."

"She just let me know about it yesterday, I had no idea."

"What did she say?"

"That she has chlamydia."

He sighed heavily, with pinched lips, blinking at me over those damn glasses sitting on his nose.

I had no idea what to say or do. This shit was embarrassing enough so I just stared back at him, as if we were having a stare off.

This is what happens when you know your doctor personally.

He nodded tightly. "Okay, then, we're going to do perform a whole panel on you to be safe."

I watched him as he turned around and wrote notes. "Okay."

He continued. "Liz is going to come in and take blood and bring a urine cup in for you. It's going to take about two to three days to get the results back and that if I put a rush on them, it usually takes five days."

I exhaled loudly, rubbing my hand over my face, which made him finally look up from the paper.

"Is there a problem?" Dr. Hobbs asked.

"I have to wait that long?"

He laughed without humor. "Yes, you do."

I started bouncing my knee again, wondering how the hell was I going to be able to wait that long for results.

He frowned empathetically. "Look Son, call the office in two days. I should be able to tell you if you tested positive for chlamydia, but you may have to wait longer for the rest of the results."

I let out a huge breath. "Thank you."

I was going to drive myself insane with the waiting.

But I also decided I wasn't going to say anything to Bella until I knew for sure.

Hopefully, I'd test negative and then there would be nothing to tell Bella.

God and whoever else is out there, help me if I test positive.

And if Tanya finds out, that'll be almost as bad as my mother finding out.

"Edward?" Dr. Hobbs paused waiting for my full attention. "You are to have no sex at all with anyone, including oral sex." He gave an expected look. "Have you noticed any clear or cloudy discharge, burning or itching from your penis?"

I shook my head no.

"Any pain or swelling around your testicles?"

"No." I said.

"All right." He scribbled more notes down before looking at me again. "If you test positive, I will prescribe antibiotics, which should clear the infection up in a week or two. Also, you will need to be retested three months later to make sure you are completely cured."

Three months? Isn't that the purpose of the medication?

"Are you serious?"

"Very." He titled his head to the side. "For the sake of your health, you're going to need to stop having sex with random young ladies, especially if you're not sure if she's clean or not."

"I—I thought she was."

"Were the two of you supposedly exclusive?" He asked.

"No?" It sounded more like a question.

"See." He pointed at me. "That's what I don't understand about you kids. You think it's okay to just sleep around with anyone and it's not. More than likely, she's had more than one partner, just like you have." He slowly shook his head. "You do realize if you test positive, you're going to have to tell everyone you've slept with that you're infected, and they'll need to get tested too?"

"Yes." I replied, pressing my hands to my temples.

I didn't want to tell him my best friend had emphasized this to me already.

"Um… is there anything you can give me now for just in case?" I asked.

Better safe than sorry, right?

"No. We have to wait until the results come back so I'll know what to prescribe, if anything at all."

"So, I can't do anything but wait?" I laughed nervously.

"And not have any sex, at all, yes." He arched one eyebrow.

I rolled my eyes, slumping my shoulders.

It was bad enough Piper laid all this bullshit in my lap. Now I have to wait for the next several days to find out the damn results.

It was hard to believe with how far technology has come they hadn't created tests that could give you immediate results.

"All right Edward, unless you have any more questions for me, we're done." He paused waiting on my response.

I sighed dejectedly, shaking my head.

The stool rolled slightly as he got up. "You take care, and we'll talk in a few days." He opened the door, walking out without saying another word.

I weaved my hands through my hair, pulling it.

How the hell was I going to get through the next few days with this shit over my head?

I got up hours earlier than I usually do.

I had to reschedule my client for another day.

Deal with Chicago's hellish downtown traffic first thing in the morning, not to mention the high ass parking fees, if I didn't want my car towed, only to be told I had to fuckn wait.

I went through all of this just to hurry up and wait.

A/N: Thank you for all of the awesome reviews, follows, new follows and favorites. I appreciate your encouraging words that pushes me to be better.

So… that happened. What are your thoughts about Piper? Do you think Piper will tell Bella before Edward does?

Do you agree with Jimmy firing Piper?

Do you think Edward handled that right? Do you think if he has it, will he tell Bella or chicken out?

This story is not beta'd… all mistakes are mine.

Next up, we'll hear from Bella, after the camping trip.

See you next time! xoxo

REC: Pretend for Me, they've been connected since they were four years old, each other's constant companion and protector throughout foster homes. Year later, Edward has turned into everything he swore he wouldn't become. Bella can't reconcile the man his is now with the wild-haired boy, so she runs off into the night. Can they find their way back together without pretending? This story is complete. Let's support the author by reading and reviewing!
