Chapter 8: Sealing Breaks

Naruto yawned as his eyelids slowly opened. Looking around the room he and his mother shared he sat up and rubbed his eyes of their sleepiness as the footsteps of his mother came into the room.

"Hey sleepyhead, you awake?" Rin asked as Naruto nodded his head and brought his arms out to signal to Rin he wanted to be picked up. She obliged happily as he rested his head on her shoulder, half lidded eyes staring at his surroundings as a way for him to escape the drowsiness.

Rin walked with him in her arms as she checked on breakfast, seeing it was done she turned off the burner with her free hand as she went to the bathroom to get the small boy in her arms ready for the day.

Soon she helped him brush his teeth and put on his clothes for the day before they both walked to the kitchen and began to eat breakfast.

Rin waited a moment to talk to Naruto as she watched him scarf down his food. Noticing that she had stopped eating, Naruto looked at Rin, mouth full. "Ew, OA momme?" He asked.

"Naruto swallow before you talk."

He did as he was told as he repeated his question. "You ok mommy?"

"Yep I'm just thinking about something."

"What?"

"Well I wanted to know if you wanted to see Lord Third today?"

Naruto's eyes seemed to become stars at hearing her ask that question as he jumped out of his seat and began to jump up and down. "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!" He said with much joy.

"OK then. Well eat first and then we can go." Naruto immediately started to finish his plate before running to the door to put his shoes on. Rin smiled as she finished her food and followed the boy.

Rin walked into the Hokage building as she put Naruto down to walk beside her. Jumping excitedly, Naruto seemed like he couldn't wait to see his Jiji as the two walked to the front desk.

As they walked up Rin noticed the secretary smile down at Naruto before looking to her. "How can I help you today?" She asked Rin.

"We wanna see Jiji!" Naruto said with much enthusiasm. Both women chuckled as Rin looked at the secretary. "I'd like to talk to Lord Third if that's alright."

The secretary took a moment as she thought about something. "Well you actually came at a good time since he won't have any meetings until around noon. I can tell him you're coming up if you'd like."

"That would be great, thank you." Rin thanked the women as she grabbed Naruto's hand and led him up the stairs to the Hokage's office. Soon they reached the doors to his office as Rin allowed Naruto to knock on the old oak doors. A come in was heard as Rin opened the doors only for Naruto to run in and tackle the old man who was sitting in his chair.

"Jiji, how are you? I missed you!" Naruto cheered as Hiruzen hugged the three year old tightly.

"Hello my boy. I'm happy to see you too. Have you gotten bigger since I last saw you or are my eyes getting worse? How is Rin treating you?" Hiruzen asked as he laid Naruto on his lap.

"Mommy's been great! I met some of her friends and I like them all. Well I think Green Guy's weird but don't tell her that." He added to the end in a whisper so Rin wouldn't hear. Hiruzen laughed as he turned to the woman who was just watching the whole thing with a smile.

"How have you been? I doubt you just came here to let Naruto see me, though I wouldn't be displeased if that was the case." He asked as Rins face became much more serious.

"I would like to talk to you in private if you don't mind." She said as Hiruzen nodded before making some hand signs. A puff of smoke came from the right of him as a shadow clone appeared.

"Naruto, can you go with my clone for a second while I talk with your mother?" Naruto stared at the clone in aw before looking to Hiruzen and then Rin, both giving him smiles as he nodded happily before going with the clone. Once the door closed Hiruzen looked at her with a serious expression as they got down to business. "What seems to be the problem?" He asked

Rin thought for a second as to how she would explain her problem without having the man worry. "I think my seal is starting to degrade sir. It may be due to the fact that it hasn't been checked since before sensei had died so I wondered if there was a chance you could check over it."

Hiruzen looked a little concerned at this as he thought for a moment. "I'm glad you brought this up. Unfortunately I cannot help in this type of situation, but I know someone who can." Rin was

interested in hearing that as she leaned in to hear what he said next. "You remember your sensei's teacher, correct?"

Rin was shocked to hear this as a smile came across her face. "Lord Jiraiya is back in town!" She asked excitedly. While the man had a reputation for his hobby that even Rin found detestable, she still had a soft spot for the man who in a way acted as a sort of grandfather figure to her and her teammates when they had trained under Minato.

Hiruzen smiled as he nodded before speaking to seemingly no one in particular. "Well are you going to come out and say hello?"

Rin felt a gust of wind come from behind her as she turned and jumped into the arms of the large man, a huge smile on both their faces.

"Well hey there kiddo, it's been a while." Jiraiya said as he hugged Rin.

"I know. Are you going to be staying for a while or are you going to be leaving soon. I'd like for you to meet Naruto as soon as possible since I know you won't be in the village for long." Jiraiya rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment as the two got out of their embrace.

"Well I actually need to leave tomorrow. But if we have time I'd gladly meet him. Also I'm happy to see that you look much happier since we last met. Seems like he's been as good for you as you were for him."

"Thanks." Rin blushed and looked away from the man in embarrassment. She was broken out of that however when Jiraiya clapped his hands loudly. "Alright, well kiddo I think we should get down to business though. I'll need to see your seal if that's alright with you so I can check on it." Rin nodded as she lifted her shirt to show her belly and began to flow chakra into the seal so it would be shown. Jiraiya's eyebrows raised as he saw just how worn down the seal truly was. "Oh my."

The other two in the room looked concerned at hearing that. "What's wrong?" They asked in unison as Rin put her shirt down. Jiraiya thought for a moment before answering. "Your seal has been worn down to a dangerous point. I didn't doubt this would happen given the circumstances for how it was put on you and what it's main purpose is, along with the amount of time it has been since it was last checked. Some of that being my fault." Jiraiya gave Rin an apologetic look as he said that. "What's more is that it's at a point where repairing it wouldn't do much."

The other two fell silent at that, both now worried. "Are you saying there's nothing you can do?" Rin asked.

"Who said anything about that? I can do something but we would need to replace your seal with a new one. Luckily I always have my sealing kit handy and I only really need to make two seals

which would only take an hour at most. I've been working on this one for a bit and I think you'll love it."

Rin looked at him with a small amount of confusion at that. "What do you mean?"

"Well it's something me and Minato had started working on ever since your first seal was put on you all those years ago, and ever since Minato I had been working on it myself up until a week ago." Jiraiya looked at her with a smile.

"You finished it." Rin asked with hope in her eyes.

"You know it kiddo. I'll just need to put a temporary seal on you so the other one doesn't go off while I change the old seal out. The best part is how this new one will work."

"What do you mean?" Hiruzen asked now very interested.

"Well how this seal will work is that as time goes on your seal on your heart will slowly be integrated into the new seal and then overwritten as the new seal becomes similar to the eight trigrams seal Naruto currently possesses. Honestly if it wasn't for Minato giving me the formula to the eight trigrams seal I wouldn't have ever been able to finish this seal." Jiraiya had a sad smile as he thought of his old student. Soon he came back to the real world as he heard the doors to the office open. Turning around he was met with the sight of a small clone of his old student who was clinging to the clone of Hiruzen.

Rin came up to Naruto, bending down and picking him up as the clone of Hiruzen puffed away. Naruto was a little scared as he looked at the giant man who towered over him and his mother. Jiraiya gave him a warm smile as he bent down to be eye level with the smaller boy. Rin spoke up as he did so. "Naruto, this is a man that I've known for a very long time. His name is Jiraiya." Said man put up a hand as he waved to Naruto who smiled and waved back. "Why are you so big?" He asked.

"I ate all my greens and listened to my mother." Naruto's face scrunched up into a scowl as he looked at the man. "No way. That can't be it." The adults laughed at that as Rin looked down to the boy. "Mommy's going to need to do something for a bit so I'm going to leave you with Lord Third until I get back ok?"

Naruto looked sad for a second before smiling brightly as he nodded. "OK!" Rin went to the older man and handed the boy to him as she then exited the door with Jiraiya. Both went to an empty room as Jiraiya closed the door and activated a privacy seal so no one would interrupt the operation. Rin sat down as Jiraiya got out his sealing kit. "Roll up your left sleeve so I can put the temporary seal on." Rin did as she was told as Jiraiya grabbed his brush and started on the seal. After 10 minutes he had finished as Rin felt a small sting. "Is it supposed to sting?" She asked

Jiraiya nodded as he got ready to start on the next seal. "Yep, it will only hurt for a second. I should warn you though that this next one will feel more uncomfortable as it takes effect. Are you ready?" Rin nodded as Jiraiya set her on her back and lifted her shirt to begin the seal.

Jiraiya took his time to not make any mistakes as Rin waited for him to be finished. Soon she heard a voice in her head emerge.

"I hope this works." Said the Three Tails.

'You're having doubts now?' Rin thought with a bit of concern.

"Don't worry. If all that I've heard about the Fourth is true then we should be fine. Even if this man is…" Suddenly the Three Tails was cut off as Rin stood up to look to Jiraiya with a bit of concern. "What happened!?"

Jiraiya looked to her as he gave her a comforting smile. "I'm finished. I just need to activate the seal so until then you won't be able to talk to the Three Tails."

Rin was a little shocked that he knew what she was doing as she tried to lie. "I don't understand what your…"

"Don't give me that kid I've dealt with enough Jinchuriki's to know when one is communicating with their beast. Plus I felt your chakra and its mix for a second. So how long have you two been talking for?" He asked as Rin became embarrassed.

"We've been talking for around a month now. We first talked after I brought Naruto home."

Jiraiya waited for a moment before he spoke again. "So how is it? Nicer than the Nine Tails I hope."

Rin nodded as she put a hand to her stomach. "He's the one that told me to fix the seal. Honestly for a student to a sealing master you would have thought I'd be better with them."

Jiraiya gave a soft smile as he looked at her. "If you want when I get back I can help you with that." Rin nodded as she gave him a small smile of her own. "That'd be great."

Jiraiya then realized something she had said as he looked at her with some confusion. "You Said it told you right, why would it do that?"

Rin's smile grew as she looked at the man. "Don't tell anyone but he's actually a big softy."

Jiraiya laughed when he heard that. Soon he got control of himself as he looked at the woman in front of him. "Damn kid, I knew you were good at naming friends but this is something else. Then again from what I've heard about the Three Tails it was known to be much less aggressive

then the others so maybe it takes a liking to people faster than the others. Lucky you. Well let's not keep you two waiting." Jiraiya put his hand up to Rin's waist ready to activate the seal. Just before he activated it however Rin spoke up.

"Lord Jiraiya, can you please not tell the Hokage about this." Jiraiya looked at her with much confusion. "Why's that kid?"

Rin exerted her eyes from the man. "Because I don't want anyone to know yet. I'm scared that if anyone knows that Naruto will be taken away from me, I can't have that. I can't lose him." Rin had a few tears run down her face as she looked up to him. Jiraiya put a hand on her shoulder as he looked into her eyes.

"It's alright kid. Trust me when I tell you sensei wouldn't take him away from you. Look I won't tell him as long as you do. You don't need to do it now and if you want you can wait until I get back. I'll only be gone for about a month so we can tell him then."

Rin wiped away her tears as she sniffled a little. "Thank you. I'd like that."

Jiraiya smiled at her. "Good. Alright let's get this finished up then shall we. You might feel a little sting and it may feel uncomfortable for the next few days while it incorporates the other seal into itself but it shouldn't disrupt anything for you. If it does or if it starts to hurt in your stomach then go to the sensei immediately. He'll get me and I can fix it as soon as possible." Rin nodded as he activated the seal. She felt a slight sting but it soon faded as she went into her mind. 'Hey you there?"

Silence went through her mind until the Three Tails spoke up. "I AM NOT SOFT!"

Rin and Jiraiya entered the Hokage's office as she grabbed the three year old into her arms. "Did you have a good time?" She asked him as he giggled.

"Yep, me and Jiji talked about how to be a cool ninja. Can I be one?" Naruto asked with a huge smile.

"If that's what you want." Naruto cheered at that as Rin looked to the two older men. "Well, say goodbye." She said to Naruto as she waved to the other two. Naruto did as he was told as they left the office.

The two went down to the entrance of the building as she noticed someone approaching her. Rin recognized the woman as she stopped and bowed to her out of respect. "Oh Mikoto sensei, why hello. Can I help you?"

The woman smiled as she bowed to the girl. "Hello Rin, it's been a long time." Mikoto looked to the small boy in Rins arms as he tried to hide his face from the woman, a small amount of curiosity could be seen on his face. Mikoto smiled at the son of her old friend as she looked at Rin. "I see you've adopted Naruto. I heard the rumors. I'm so happy for you." She said with a hint of sadness in her voice. She had tried to adopt the boy just after he was born but was declined and forced into secrecy about her knowledge of him along with the other clan leaders. She knew if she had gotten him Rin would have been one of the first to know as she was very close to Kushina after the death of Obito.

Rin was a little confused as to how Mikoto knew about Naruto as she looked at the older woman. "How did you know about him?"

Mikoto smiled as she walked past the girl. "I'll tell you another time. Maybe I'll bring Sasuke when I do so these two can play together."

"That would be nice. I'd be ok with that." Rin said as the older woman began to leave.

"Good, then I'll see you around. Have a nice day Rin." Rin waved to Mikoto as she left. Naruto looked at Rin with a confused look. "Mommy, who was that?"

"An old friend." Rin said with a small smile.

Later that night

He watched as she began to tuck the boy into bed, seemingly singing to him some sort of lullaby. Soon the boy went to sleep as she left the room, turning out the lights. Odd.

He had been watching her for long enough to know that she usually laid in bed with him when he slept, so why didn't she tonight. He soon felt a kunai to his throat. He was startled as he turned his head to see who had done this, only to find the masked face of is old teammate.

"Who are you!" Kakashi demanded as he kept the knife to the man's throat. The man didn't move as he thought of what to do. That was until he heard someone land in front of him. Turning to this new person he froze as he met the eyes of Rin, staring at him with anger.

"Answer the question! Why are you spying on me and my son?" He couldn't speak. He couldn't move. He seemed to have forgotten how to activate Kamui for a second as his emotions clouded his judgment. Suddenly Kakashi put the knife against his skin as a small amount of

blood trickled down his skin. He suddenly started running, Kamui activated for only a second so as to not cut off his own head. Running across the rooftops he felt his pursuers getting closer as he suddenly felt the air in his longs get forced out as he fell to the ground into an alleyway, his mask smashed off his face. He struggled to rise as he gasped for breath. Hearing the two land close to him, he looked to them, noticing Rins features had become much more monstrous as her nails and teeth seemed to have grown. The two approached this man, ready to kill him if necessary. They both however stopped as they saw his face. Both gasped as Rin returned to normal. They couldn't move nor speak as they tried their best to even stay standing. They couldn't believe who they were seeing right in front of them. Suddenly Rin regained her voice as she said the man's name.

"Obito."

Author's Note: DUN DUN DUUUUN. Who would have guessed? Probably most of you actually but hey it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this would happen eventually. But yep, it looks like Rin has an even better seal and we get to see both Jiraiya and Mikoto. Betting you're all happy to see those two. Although Mikoto is in literally every one of my stories so I don't think anyone doubted she'd show up somehow. I don't even know why she keeps showing up. I guess I just like the idea of her being more involved in the story.

Welp we're almost to the end. Probably only two chapters left depending on how I write what happens next but I know for sure that I'm not going to pass 12 chapters and my brain tells me I should make it an even 10 so that's my goal.

Anyway guess who's one year closer to death. Morbid, maybe but my family uses that one a lot so I used it here. Yep, as of uploading this I'm REDACTED years old. Huh how'd that happen? Oh well looks like you won't know. Sorry. :)

OK Review Time:

We all know who this one is, Prewishjay13: well look who's back. Also OK Ok now take a seat, here's some water drink it slowly. And yep they finally met. Honestly writing them together was fun plus I wrote Naruto more as his true self, if that isn't foreshadowing I don't know what is. Yep I liked the idea of having Kurenai giving him a cute little nickname. My aunt's do that to me so I thought Naruto should get the same treatment. Plus I want Naruto and Kurani to have a very close relationship throughout this series. And yes I can definitely say Naruto's scene with Guy was so much fun to write I laughed while I wrote it. No for the timeskip that is the plan just in a different story cause with it I want to try something different when it comes to the narrator and if I did that in that story then it wouldn't work as well. And I'm happy you love this fiction so much. Honestly when I first made it it was just an idea that no one else was doing so I took advantage

of it and I honestly thought it wouldn't get anywhere as I focused on my other stories. But after 4 months of writing it it has become my favorite to write hence why I've focused on it out of all my other stories. And that's thanks to all of you who decided out of all things to read my story was the one you all chose so thank you so much for that. As for what will happen next, you'll just have to wait, my friend.
