To say it's been an interesting last couple of days would be an understatement.
Quinn could no longer recall what sleeping alone felt like anymore. After the dinner they shared, he had called her on his break at the shoot in the Nevada Desert, asking how her day was going at the lab and if she wanted to get some ice cream at this exclusive spot. It wasn't a place you could get in with just reservations alone; you had to be on the guest list. Turns out he was. She had never tasted ice cream that had been frozen to the Arctic chill level, but now it's ruined her for eating regular ice cream. When she told him this, he laughed and said they would have to come again.
Watching him laugh at her, throwing his head back with a small dollop of vanilla ice cream in the corner of his mouth, made hers start to water. She didn't know what caused it, but she leaned across the table to kiss him. Pulling back, she licked her lips, enjoying the flavor. He seemed stunned by her actions, but that didn't last long. He called for the check and had them rushing out of there so fast she swore it made their dessert start to melt.
Like the previous nights, they returned to her place and spent the night ravishing each other. That time, she had taken the lead, pushing him down on the bed so she could set the pace. Her hands running over his muscles as she bounced up and down on his harden cock inside her. The Logan she knew hated being ordered around; he liked being in charge, but he happily obliged to her words that night.
They repeated the same morning pattern. Her getting ready for work while he lay in her bed, leaving only when his schedule called for it. Some days, he was still asleep when she left; a few times, they had to be up at the same time, and on one rare occasion, he had gotten up before her. He left her with a kiss on the forehead and well wishes as he went to prepare for the day. After that, they would make plans, end up back at her place, and she would wake up with him half hanging over her body. He still refused to believe her when she told him he talked in his sleep.
It all felt so strange but exciting to her. She was walking a very fine line with whatever their relationship was, but she didn't care. It wasn't like they were the best of friends before they started hooking up. Most of the time, they tolerated each other because their friends were always together. Sure, there were moments she had to say he seemed like a good guy, but most of the time, he was so annoying to be around. Which is why this sudden behavior change was such a nuance to her. In the name of science, she had to explore this more.
Plus, she was really loving the sexual freedom. When she was with Mark, he only liked one position and always fell asleep regardless of whether she had finished or not. He was a caring guy, always asking if she was okay or feeling good, but that was where it all ended. He always assumed if he finished, that meant she did too. He never tried doing anything else, and when she suggested other positions or things, he looked so put off by the idea.
With Logan, things were completely different. Just the other day, he had come over for dinner again, and they ended up having sex on her couch. She hadn't even thought it would be a good place to do it, but he proved her wrong. She doubted there was any place in her apartment left that they hadn't done it, which was so exciting for her. Mark always only wanted to do it in the bedroom with the lights off. With the way Logan touched her, he didn't seem to care if they were in public or not. It was such an exhilarating feeling, and she was basking in it.
Ring Ring
She had been in the middle of picking out a dress for the evening when her phone rang out. Smiling when she saw who it was, she answered the call and put it on speaker. "Hi, Lola, what's up?"
"Not much. Me and the guys are gonna hang out at Logan's to watch some stupid movie."
She chuckled, "If it's stupid, why are you watching it?"
"Because my next role is for some sci-if movie, and I need to do research."
That made sense. When it comes to acting, Lola put her heart and soul into it. "Wait a minute," she threw down the pink dress she had picked out and looked at her phone. "Did you say you guys were watching it at Logan's tonight?"
"Yeah, why?"
She scoffed, "Because he said we were having dinner tonight." She crossed her arms, annoyance coursing through her system as she sat on her bed. "I should have known his good behavior wouldn't last long." She sighed, feeling a little sad that his attempts at "wooing" her were now coming to a close. She had suspected it would happen eventually, but she didn't want to admit that she was enjoying the act more than she thought she would. It felt nice that, for once, someone else was putting in the effort.
"I'm sorry; I know you were enjoying yourself."
Frowning, she picked up her phone. "You know what, I'm not going to let him get away with this," she dialed a few buttons on her phone and took it off speaker to hold it against her ear.
"What are you doing?"
Lola's concerned voice came through, but Quinn shushed her. "I'm going to call him out on what he's doing." She was doing a three-way call, but she knew how to mute Lola so that the other wouldn't hear her on his end.
"Hey Quinn, what's up?"
She bit the inside of her cheek, trying not to scream at him. "What's up is you and I had plans for tonight, and Lola told me that she and the guys are coming over right now to watch some dumb science fiction movie."
"Yeah, so?"
She opened her mouth, flabbergasted at how he casually treated their now-canceled dinner plans.
"They always come over to use my stuff when I go out."
Whatever she was about to say died on her lips. Feeling her temper decrease, she shuffled on her bed. "Does that mean we're still on for tonight?" His deep laughter echoed in her ear over the phone.
"Of course, why wouldn't we be?"
She jumped in her seat, and the relief that came flooding in made her bounce. "Okay, give me ten minutes." She didn't give him time to respond before she hung up and jumped to her feet. "Lola, are you still there?"
"Yeah, I'm here."
The sound of her walking out of her door and to the elevator could be heard in the background.
"And I can't believe what I just heard."
Quinn shrugged, dropping her robe to walk around in just her bra and underwear. "Yeah, I guess I was a little excessive calling him like that." It was a simple misunderstanding. "Although, he needs to do a better job at explaining himself." She was going to have to have a talk with him about proper communication.
"I mean about you! You acted like your boyfriend was canceling a date when you called him up."
Hearing this made her throw her head back and laugh. "You're kidding," she laughed some more, putting the phone back on speaker so she could get dressed. "I was so not acting like that. I was just annoyed he was trying to act like his usual Logan self." She threw on the light pink outfit, maneuvering her hands to zip it up. "If he wants to decrease the amount of time we see each other, than say it too my face." While she enjoyed their time together, she knew that sooner or later, he would grow bored and want to return to the bachelor lifestyle. She appreciated his understanding of her wants to be exclusive, but if he wants to start seeing other people, he needs to talk with her first.
"Okay, I can see that."
Lola sighed over the phone, walking out as the elevator doors opened.
"Anyway, I'm at Logan's. Text me what happens tonight!"
Quinn smiled, running over to her mirror to fix her makeup. "I will," a moment passed, but she could feel what was coming. "And this time, I promise to bring back leftovers." Her friend had been very upset when she found out the type of restaurants she had been going too and not bringing back any food for her to try. This time, she made a note and an alarm on her phone to remind her to bring Lola back something.
Hanging up the phone, Lola walked into the luxury penthouse suite that the one and only Logan Reese called home. She had been inside many times, but the sheer size always blew her away. It was so wild to think their building had this unit, but it did. The place took up the entire roof, leaving him with lots of room to move around in, and gave him ample space to set up the biggest TV any of them had ever seen. The elevator would let you off at a mini hallway that was technically the entrance to his place, but you needed to be buzzed into the main door to enter the living quarters.
Hitting the said button, she only had to wait a couple of minutes for it to open, and she walked on in. Chase and Michael were already on the couch, and it seemed they had been there for a while. A video game was currently being played on the giant flatscreen that was mounted on the wall.
"What up, Lola!" Michael called to her, signaling her to join them on the sofa the size of most of their living rooms.
Walking over, she took the end of the L shaped couch and sighed in content. Why did millionaires always have to have the best stuff? "Where's Logan?"
"In his room fixing his hair for the umpteenth time this day," Chase said with a victory cheer as he dominated his friend in the video game.
"Hey," Logan walked out, wearing a black dress shirt with matching pants and a light brown suit jacket. "If you looked this good, you would stop to do maintenance too." He adjusted his collar, stopping at one of the many wall mirrors that littered the layout of his home. "Too bad you'll never know what it's like to be me."
All three scoffed and rolled their eyes at him. "Man, what does Quinn see in him." Chase shut off the game, reaching his hand inside the chip bag as he did so.
Lola froze in her seat, eyes growing wide when she heard her friend's name be mentioned. "Quinn? Why would you say Quinn?"
"Because it's crazy," Michael took a long sip of his drink. The beer Logan kept in his fridge was always better quality than what they got at the bar. "I mean, I always thought they hated each other, but now they're dating."
Unable to control herself, Lola sat straight up in her seat, her movement very sporadic. "They're dating? Who says they're dating?"
Chase and Michael gave each other a concerned look, wondering what was going on with the girl. "Logan told us," Chase gestured to the guy who was paying more attention to his reflection than those in his living room.
Lola gasped, a soft squeal coming from her when she heard this. "Yeah, we didn't believe it either, but they've basically been together every night for weeks now." Michael stole a quick glance at their friend, rolling his eyes when he saw the other winking at his reflection. "Don't tell him we said anything, but we think he's had a thing for Quinn for a while."
Was it just her, or did it sound like a bus had exploded she swore by the way her ears were ringing something had to of gone off. "What do you mean?" She all but hissed out, smacking the cushions.
"Remember the day we all went to the beach last year?" Michael asked, and she nodded, very slowly. She looked unsure if she wanted to know the answer. "On the car ride back, Logan was passed out in the back seat, and we swore we heard him mumbling Quinn's name in his sleep."
Lola gasped again, a loud squeal coming out of her than the one before. "So, you're saying that Logan likes Quinn."
"Big time," Chase nodded. He unfortunately recognized what a guy hopelessly in love looks like. Only it seemed his friend had more luck in that department than he did. "We never said anything because Quinn was with Mark."
"But then one day, we asked him to hang out, and he said he couldn't because he and Quinn were going on a date," Michael added in.
She had a tight smile on her face, one hand shaking into a fist as she tried to calm her nerves. "And Logan said that Quinn agreed to date?"
Michael shrugged his shoulders, finding her question confusing. "He said it was her idea."
"Yeah, he said she asked for them to be exclusive from the start." Chase gave her a strange look but didn't bother to question it too much.
Why did it feel like there was a lump in her throat? "And you're sure it's not them just hooking up? No romantic feelings involved?"
Michael shook his head, "No way, if they're together, they're together romantically," stealing another glance over at his friend, who was puckering his lips at himself. "He may be a jerk,"
"A stupid jerk," Chase added in.
"A very stupid jerk," Michael had to agree with that statement. "But we really think he likes Quinn a lot. If she asked him to be with her, he's not playing some game. He genuinely wants to be with her."
Lola opened her mouth, ready to scream, but instead, she stood up and, in a high-pitched voice, said, "I have to go to the bathroom." And ran out the front door.
Chase and Michael watched her go.
"I thought the bathroom was past the kitchen?" Chase said, pointing to the far-left side of the room.
Michael shook his head, "No, it's past the gym." He pointed to the far right area of the place. Realizing they were both looking in opposite directions, he sighed. "Man, how many bathrooms do you have?"
Logan seemed to break away from his trance finally. "There are four," he walked over to the end table and picked up a small bouquet of flowers that he had gotten for tonight's evening. "Two down here, one in the hall, and the other is upstairs."
This made both Chase and Michael do a double take, their heads going in every direction as they looked at the high glass ceilings. "You're on the roof. How can there be an upstairs?" He stood up, suddenly feeling very unsafe with the structure of the house.
Logan waved off their concerns and questions. He had a date to get too.
