Well...I wasn't originally planning to reveal what the 'Goop' is at this point in the story but I also wasn't originally intending to put in Desolation and other elements from the Soul's Trilogy in this story but their inclustion helps with what I've decided what the origin of the Goop is also I was thinking Jonathan was going to figure out the secret of the Goop first but as we shall see Splinter will have a means of finding out what it is.

With Vanessa safely asleep, Splinter called all four of the Turtles into his room he also asked Donatello to bring the sample of the new blue mutagen.

"My Sons..." Splinter said "...I have had a vision, I saw...An ancient spirit..A being known as Animus...In Ancient Times Animus was believed to be a protector of animal life, now he is reconized as a demon who frequently works through animals...Most often Animals assoiated with the night...Donatello, I have a feeling about this new blue ooze now that I've had this vision, I want you to give me the sample."

Don gingerly handed Splinter the test tube that was still mostly soil with some blue sparkles.

Splinter first laid out a cloth before pouring the infected soil onto it, then he dipped a ladle into a vase that contained some specially purified water...He poured the water over the sparkling soil and with that a bunch of blue spakles shot into the air! And for a few moments both the Turtles and Splinter were in a dream world, each dreaming a different thing, it was only when Splinter called out "Enough!" And ended the dream bringing them all back to relaity.

"Whoa!" Mikey exclaimed rubbing his temples "What the shell was that?!"

"This..." Splinter said "...Is not the same thing that Mutated us, this is not the realm of science, but rather magic...This..." Splinter pointed at the blue sparkles "...Is essence of the Astral Plane, the Realm of Dreams! Somehow it is crossing over into the land of the waking!"

"Dream goo?" Mikey cocked his head "How could Dream Goo turn a human into a spider?"

"If it is Essance of Dreams..." Don said "Then it could be the essance of pure chaos! You know how dreams are, things happen for absolutely no reason...Perhaps it was being bitten by the spider while touch the ooze caused them Vanessa to...Fuse with the Spider..."

"I have a strong suspition..." Splinter said as he stroked his beard "...That because of my vision of Animus I believe the effects of the Dream Essence are going to specifically be animal related perhaps Animus wants to spread his influence."

"Does this mean Vanessa is under this Demon's influence?" Leo asked

"I don't know." Splinter sighed "Vanessa was originally human so that may protect her, however I believe this vision was a sign that you should take Vanessa with you on your mission, at the very least I don't think she should be here much longer..."

Meanwhile Jonathan had finished his bowl of rice and leaned back in his chair, it was the middle of the night and having slept through most of the day he was not going to get any sleep now. He wasn't sure which was worse, sleeping and seeing that thing again in his dreams, or being awake and sitting alone with his thoughts where he might not be safe from that thing either...Both Jervis and Edward were most likely fast asleep, and what was he going to do? Awaken his fellow Rogues for comfort like a child who just had a nightmare pesters his siblings for reassurence? No! The Master of Fear never needed such things as a child and he didn't need them now! (The fact that he never had any such siblings to pester kind of renered his point moot but he didn't bother with that)

Seems like he would just have to keep himself occupied all night long. Finally leaving the Galley he began to take a leaserly stroll through the halls...

As he was preoccupied with his own thoughts and looking only at his own feet, he was totally unprepared for the sudden sound of a door flying open and the exclaimations of "I shouldn't have eaten that Mexican food!" Jonathan looked up to see a security guard running for the Men's room, in such a rush he left the door to the security room wide open.

Now...Jonathan knew just walking in to spy on the parts he wasn't supposed to go would put his employment at risk, but after all he had experienced so far, Jonathan knew he had to find out more about what they were doing with Mutant Animals, Jonathan quickly dipped into the room, he scanned the various monitors, he saw the Dogs' living quarters the Dogs were all blissfully asleep, then he saw the rooms that kept the 'Wild Mutants' they had captured

There was quite the eclectic assortment of species they had captured, all of them in various cages built to contain their various capabilities, and it was there staring at those poor creatures, despite them all being so different from himself, but he began to feel pangs in his heart that this was wrong treating these what were clearly intelligent beings as if they were mere animals, looking at some of the conditions this seemed to be not even suitible normal animals!

Then Jonathan heard the flush of a toilet and he knew he had to get out of there quickly!

So finally the Quest to Proteus Inc will begin and the Turtles will meet the Rogues
